Hi everyone,
I’m really sorry but I need to increase the cost of my sketch commissions. They’re taking a lot longer than I had originally estimated, as I am more perfectionist with commissioned work than with my own stuff! I’ve been working really hard at my anatomy to try to speed me up, which has worked to some extent, but there is a minimum length of time that I can’t get below without sacrificing quality.

So with effect from the 00:01 (GMT) on 20th November, my sketch prices will be as follows:

1 head shot: $12
3 head shots $24 (It’s 3 for the price of 2 as I can scan them in 1 batch, meaning they’re quicker to process and upload).
Half body: $25
Full body: $32

All my other prices remain the same until further notice.

If you’re looking to get a sketch off me at my lower rate, these will still be available until the 20th November :) There are plenty of examples of previous sketch commissions in my gallery.

A couple of commissioners asked for them, and I figured why not? It's good anatomy practice and I don't have to worry about drawing clothes.

I realise it's not to everyone's taste so I've created a separate account for my more explicit stuff here:  hamsterad, keeping my main account limited to a bit of nudity.

I will draw:
Anything other than the exceptions below. I’m not too great at mechanical objects, but am willing to give it a shot. I’ll let you know if you request something I’m going to struggle drawing. I’m best at snarly werewolves, but you know that.

Violence/gore, erotica, fetish art and nudity will be considered on a case-by-case basis – I’m pretty open minded so as long as it’s not outright porn it’ll probably be okay.

I will not draw:
Porn/ yiff/ hentai – selling this is against Paypal’s terms of service.
Anything derogatory or hateful.
Fanart – this is technically illegal. Original characters from a fandom universe may be okay – for example, your
own My Little Pony character.

I’ve designed it for people who have no idea who I am, who stumble upon it through Google, which is why it doesn’t sound much like me. It felt a bit like writing a job application letter – slightly excruciating but necessary. On the plus side it works really well on mobiles and tablets.

I’m pushing the transformation art heavily, as that’s by far what is most popular. Here’s hoping it will get my stuff out there a bit more.

I'm really slack with checking out my friends work on here, and replying to comments in good time. I'm working towards becoming a freelance artist over the next few years, and it's taking up most of my time and energy. If it's any consolation I am neglecting my offline friendships for the same reason. Please don't take it personally!

For the first time in years it seems we're having a proper summer in the UK. It's been boiling hot for weeks now. We're having to sleep in the front room as it's the coolest place in the house.

I've been working on art loads, working through anatomy books and drawing constantly. I am working on my comic, but it will be a while before I can upload anything. I'm hoping I'll start improving really rapidly now I have more time to focus on my art.

Aside from a few personal issues, so far this is one of the best summers of my life :)

I've completed my studies B) 5 years of slog is finally over! I'm free!

So, what next?

I was originally planning to look for work, but I've decided to spend the next year really working on my art. It's probably a bad idea but it's something I've wanted to do for years, and I'll regret it if I don't. It's quite scary, I feel directionless and like I should be doing something 'proper', like saving for a house or something. But I'm looking forward to it.

I've decided to start a web comic. I want to build characters and tell stories, and work on gesture and expressions and a comic seems ideal. I did one a few years ago and it sucked, but my art improved LOADS from it. This one will suck too, but less so - I've been taking writing classes which should help. I'm going to aim for a 30 page story, then see how I'm feeling at the end of that. I'll be uploading it here :)

Oh yeah, commissions are open. I haven't really had any interest - I suspect my prices are a bit high, but I'm not willing to lower them - people really undersell themselves with commissions and I've set my prices the same that I get paid in my call center job. I'll just have to get better so people are willing to pay them!

I've got a Tumblr now. http://www.tumblr.com/blog/hamstertoybox/ The plan is to stick up rough work on there, and hopefully get my art out to more people. I'm still getting the hang of it, which is why it's currently called Untitled (How do I change that? Anyone?).

I'm thinking I should buy some webspace so I can have a central page where I link to all my sites. Hmm.
