Back from FC-Stuff for sale!
Posted 15 years agoFC was fun, the first time I'd had anything in the art show, which was moderately terrifying. I sold one painting...I felt pretty good about that since the general art show didn't seem to do well in general.
Unfortunately part of the reason I'd wanted to do the art show was to try and get a handle on how much people would pay for my paintings. Since the one piece that sold only had one bid I didnt' really get a ballpark.
I put what didn't sell and reposted a bunch of things I already had on hand to my etsy store at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Herefox
Check it out!

Selling stuff!
Posted 15 years agoSo I created an etsy store so that I won't be buried in finished sketches and stuff. You should take a look. Buy stuff! Especially since I need a scanner for home.
It's at http://www.etsy.com/shop/Herefox

Posted 15 years agoMostly to get some stuff out of my sketchbook...and possibly raise a bit of money for a possible trip to Alaska, I put up an etsy store with some of my sketches

Eventually I hope that maybe I'll put up some prints of my paintings and such things but that is dependent on figuring out how to do so.

Tired fox is tired
Posted 17 years agoBack from FC, whee! It was fun and I only made a fool of myself in one circumstance so we'll consider it a win. (I'm exceptionally good at finding the one thing I could do to put my paw in my mouth, it's a gift)
I did not, sadly, draw anything at the con. I'm a little shy about it, actually, which I suppose is silly. My style doesn't really suit a lot of furs anyway so they tend to peek at my sketchbook and wonder where the cute cartoony wang is or something Not that I'm saying that there's anything wrong with cute cartoony wang but I can't draw that way *grin*
It was wonderful to see any of you that I saw there, and if I didn't, well, why not?

Interesting thought
Posted 17 years agoWhen do you get to call yourself an artist? Is when you start drawing regularly? Or is only when you sell something?
Just a random thought I had when someone introduced someone as a "Fellow artist"

Posted 17 years agoI haven't posted here as a journal for quite some time. I was travelling a whole bunch the last month and half or so, both for work and for personal reasons so I didn't get much art done. I'm hoping to change that in the next week or two.
I've got one painting started, another sketeched out and I think I may sketch out the lion as well as I like how it turned out. Hopefully I can keep the grumpy-ish look when I paint it because it amuses me greatly.
I have one more sketch to post but I didn't bring my sketch book today so it will have to wait till next week (I only have a scanner at work, not at home...someone that I should rectify one of these days)

Posted 18 years agoProvided it isn't pouring here in old sunny California tomorrow (don't get me wrong, I love the rain!) I'll be posting a few pictures. One less than I wanted to but my supposed raccoon that looks rather like a koala isn't done yet. I do suspect it will look a bit better when it has all it's fur and stuff *grin*
Posting tomorrow (hopefully!)
Posted 18 years agoIf I don't completely forget my sketchbook tomorrow I plan on posting a partial piece I'm working on, mostly because I did the 'fun' part and need to finish up the background, which will probably take me quite awhile since I'll have a guest part of the weekend and...well, it's background *grin*
I do wonder, would anyone be interested in seeing my 'human' drawings as well? I do a fair amount of them because a good grasp on anatomy is never a bad thing but I haven't been posting them here.

Posted 18 years agoI drew my very first picture of one of my characters. And did I choose the relatively innocent ones? No, of course not, I drew the mean one that that does evil things to people. Go me! But it's sort of part of an art trade with a friend of mine so I can be excused the fact that it's porn...right? Right..? I'll scan/post tomorrow...I don't have a scanner at home.
Because I can't ever start SIMPLE
Posted 18 years agoFirst, thank everyone for the watches and favorites recently...I'm very flattered!
I broke out my acrylic paints again. I've never used acrylics before...I took an oil painting class when I was high school, enjoyed it and always meant to do more and then haven't touched it for er, *mumble* years now.
Oils are expensive and sometimes messy though so I've gotten some acrylics. Very different beast though more familar than the color pencils I've played with here and there. As I said though, I can't actually start simple so I dove right in with doing a fox. I'll probably post it in a few days....I haven't quite finished the background but it's turning out a little better than I'd expect when playing with a new toy. My back hurts now though 'cause I don't have an easel and my desk is just a little too low to paint on.

I'm still alive
Posted 18 years agoStill alive and drawing, I promise...I've been travelling a bit and work and life have been a bit insane so I haven't finished much lately...have a tiger I'm working on right now that I've been going back and forth between liking and hating (oddly enough the times I hate it are when I'm working on it *laugh* I'm hoping to do a lot more drawing this week to make up for being a bit out of it lately (and I only post the animal stuff here, I've done a few concept drawing and human anatomy studies with the assumption you can't draw anthros if you can't draw people...
And I've picked up some paints, we'll see how that goes.
So that's the state of a fox if any of you care!
