Well I just got back from a game of D&D. It's been a long and stressing day, and I was looking forwards to a night of epic fantasy and dragon slaying. And honestly, it was shaping up to be a great night. I even had a really cool and awesome sounding character going into this. This was going to be so cool. Until, once again, I'm singled out and targeted as the comic relief. Again. And this always seems to happen.

I don't get what I'm doing, or why it always seems to happen. I'm lead to believe I'm a really awesome guy. But then I'm almost never taken seriously, I'm frequently mocked, I wind up becoming the target of any cruel sort of joke and I find myself feeling like I'm stuck at the bottom of the food chain.

Those that know me know that I have an insane, almost inhuman amount of patience and tolerance. I can put up with just about fucking anything and not so much as frown at it. I'm a really good sport, honestly. But no matter where I go, who I'm with, what I do, how good I am at whatever, etc etc... I always wind up becoming the butt-end of every joke. What the hell am I doing that causes this?! How am I supposed to avoid this?! I try to be as great and awesome a guy as humanly possible, and I try to be a good sport about this but I can't fucking escape it! Am I supposed to start lashing out at people? Should I just start freaking on them? But won't that make me an asshole?!

"But Hex, calm down. We only tease you because we love you". FUCK YOU. I am SO SICK and FUCKING TIRED of this GODDAMN EXCUSE. OH YES! MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A CHEAP LAUGH! I REALLY FEEL GODDAMN LOVED, I DO! Is this how I'm supposed to show love? By picking apart and ridiculing everything about somebody?! I can take these jokes, I really can! But when they're usually all I ever hear, HOW THE HELL IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE LOVING?! Would it kill you to say something nice once in a while?! And when I start making similar jokes back at you, suddenly I'm a douche-bag! OH DON'T WORRY! I ONLY DO IT BECAUSE I LOVE YOU TOO!!

And I know not everybody does this to me. There are some down-right amazing people who break this trend and I'm so thankful for them. I'm not naming names, but they know who they are.

I'm probably going to regret this journal later... just right now, it's been a very trying day and I am extremely pissed off right now. I need to vent...

Sitting here in a bar with  Temrin,  Zee.,  Haloth,  Trennicus,  Skekiyap, and friends, I quickly realize that I've gotten myself mixed with some of the most colourful and lovely people I've met. It's really charming and heart-warming, and I'd probably never have gotten this luxury if I had remained anti-fur.

To be perfectly honest, going furry was the best thing I've ever done for myself, and I was lucky to join in with such an amazing, open and friendly group. I hang out with people I admire, people I've fallen for, people I'd kill Cthulhu for and all who easily share the sentiments.

Just figured I'd write this journal to say "I fucking love you all".

So yeah.

So to those unlucky enough to have already found out, my mood kinda sucks right now. Angry, really, and can't seem to pull myself out of that mood for long. So I'm just gonna let myself be pissed until this mood blows over, but I figured I should warn anybody who may be hurt by me as a result. So a few points to get out of the way in the meantime.

1: My airway is clear, my breathing is steady and consistant. My pulse is present and I'm responsive. Thus, I'm fine.

2: Thank you for informing me that people have it worse than I do and that I'm very lucky and thus have no right to be so moody. I'm well aware of this fact, and I don't fucking care. Constantly reminding me of this doesn't make you helpful. It makes you an asshole.

3: Please don't try to be my shrink. I don't need your help and I don't feel like talking about my feelings. Even if I did, there are a VERY select few people I'll actually talk to. Chances are you're not one of them. Leave it at that.

4: Be patient with me. If I flip out at you, it's nothing against you. I just want the world to burn and you somehow triggered my rage-y-ness.

Problem is, though, nearly three years in and all I've got are 50 subscribers and 7,000 views among 203 videos. Not that I'm complaining; I'm greatly for every single one of those numbers. But I just figured I'd be a little further along than that by now.

Valentines Day. Depending who you mention it to, you'll be greeted with glee or dismay. It's one of those holidays that you can't describe as particularly good or bad. It's ultimately up to the machinations of an individual's opinion. But for better or worse, it's another of those holidays we all have to go through and can't avoid nor ignore. Like it or not, Valentine's day is here, whether it's a fine day to spend with loved ones or a painful twenty-four hour-long reminder that you're alone.

Now there is really nothing I can express here that hasn't already been conveyed six-times better and more expressively than I am capable of conveying myself. But I'm not going to remark on how the holiday effects me; as my dear Mother always says, "Attitude is a choice". I am not commenting on whether the holiday pains or pleases me. I'm bringing to light an often over-looked notion I find this holiday inspires.

Hope.

Now given that hope is an omni-present notion that permeates nearly every emotion whether you notice it or not, and it certainly doesn't need a hallmark holiday primarily about love to bring it to our attention. But regardless, we still tend to over-look or ignore hope while we over-look or ignore it in favour of love or spite respectively. There is an almost infinite amount of applicatioms for hope, but today I comment upon it as it pertains to Valentine's day.

But where is hope? Why do we even need it?

Ever been a lonely heart on this day? Ever feel the envy and anger towards the joyous couples that surround you? Perhaps even cried tears of resolute sorrow, asking why you have to be alone, and begging some omnipotent being for somebody of your own. All theses feelings amplified as the holiday serves as a reminder to your loneliness.

Or perhaps you're a fortunate couple, at home in the embrace of the one you love. But have you ever feared the integrity of your relationship? Do you fear it's untimely and undoubtably painful end? Or perhaps feared your love stagnating rather than blossoming into something more? In someways, even to the lucky, this holiday can be a vessel of fear.

But it's hope that makes the difference. It's hope that differentiates the truly horrible from the blissfully wonderful. It's the driving force behind the ambition that pushes us to achieve more or fix what's broken. To the lonely heart, it's comfort and motivation to cure your all-pervasive sorrow. To the happy couple, it's ambition and assurance that things will be alright. Without it, we stagnate. Then we wither or we suffer. We let fear and spite rule us, then simply allow all our good to meet its end.

Hope is where you can find it, however you may find it, but it is also one of the hardest things to find. As humans, we are dominated by our emotions, and such can blind us from the things that inspire hope. Sometimes we need to be reminded that it's there, and sometimes we need to be reminded to look for it. And often, no amount of reminders can make us privy to its existance when we are so lost in the fog of our emotional turmoil.

We find hope where we need it, and we need hope because it's the one true weapon we have against the things that'd drag us under. To me, Valentine's day may not inspire love, but it reminds me of all the hope I need and will need, as hope continues to serve as my life-raft in the turbulent sea of emotions. And to all those dragged down by this day, I hope this rant inspires you to reach for hope as well.

Hello watchers!

If you're seeing this, it's because I have set myself a goal. A very specific goal. A goal which follows a vow I have personally made.

That vow? I vow to raise 450$ to get myself a Strype commission... as soon as he opens up again, of course >.>

But Hex! You have a job! Just buy it with your hard earned money! Yes yes, that is true, I could just do that. OR, in the spirit of trying to improve my artwork (particularly in drawing tech), I can offer up commissions for ONCE in my LIFE!!

I have decided to start a personal quest, alongside my list of free work and my webcomic, to start taking commissions temporarily in order to raise money through art-work to get myself a Strype commission. Now because I have the WORST work ethics out there (seriously, I'm tempted to buyer beware myself after I post this journal), I am only going to take commissions of single-character artwork in waves of three at 10$ - 15$ per.

In the spirit of also improving my artistic skill, I'd prefer to draw sci-fi, high-tech themed stuff, so anything with hi-tech armour suits or weapons is prefered, though I will draw anything provided you ask if I'm okay with it first.
