Let's go 2018!
Posted 7 years agoHiya! I hope everyone had a good time wrapping up the year with holidays, good food, friends, lots of toys, lots of fun. I'm looking forward to 2018 being a great year.
I already know my FA profile won't get as much attention as it could, but to everyone here on my watch list: know that you're all some of the awesomest people I've ever met, and an essential part of what makes this community so amazing. <3
In case you're curious, I can mostly be found lurking on #furnet IRC, on Telegram, and Discord.
FC2018: Most likely will be attending this year; rooming with
and
BLFC2018: Possibly maybe? I'm in NorCal so it's not too far away.
Note: Always looking people to collaborate on fursuit+electronics projects with. Will entertain trades of custom fur+foam work in exchange for custom electronics. I'm better with a soldering iron than I am with a sewing machine. :3

~{ FC }~
Posted 10 years agoHi y'all! It's been a busy year with some ups and downs. Working at a startup has been really time consuming (and social life consuming), but I wanted to get a quick note out before FC. Looking forward to seeing friends from last year, meeting new peeps, socializing, and enjoying myself! To everyone I *don't* get to see at FC, I hope you had a good end to 2014, hugs, and have a kick ass new year!
[A.] Camping at the Hilton with
squeekymoonkin and
antires again. Yay!
[B.] I've got a half-table in the dealer's den (table 93b) where I'll be offering sparklebadger gadgets and attempting to network and stuff. I really have no idea.
[C.] If you see a partial-suiter with a *massive* badger head, that's probably me, so come and say hi! Hugs are great but have the B.O under control first please. XD

Go Go Gadget 2014!

Further Confusion was super fun! I bunked with the awesome
and
again, managed to stay for the entire con, shook my skinny badger junk more than should be allowed, and escaped without losing any major organs. Shouts to the new people I met, even though I'm too lazy to link your FA profiles. Shouts to all the people I have met but missed at FC. Maybe at Frolic?
I'm still making progress on my badgerboard. I'm done tweaking the autorouter to get a good ground-plane, so now I can finish the last traces by hand, and add panelization slots. I hope to have PCBs ordered by the end of February.
*hugs*

Almost Home Free
Posted 12 years ago4 more days to prep for Finals. Tuesday night I dine in Valhalla!
After exams, I hope to be able to take on enough project work to gather some spending money for FC. I'm really looking forward to it, even though the year seemed to fly by.
Not much else on the radar. I've been brainstorming features and sifting through datasheets for the FC1 board design. I'll do a feature-freeze this week and hurry to get a new schematic drafted soon after. At this point it's doubtful I'll have a PCB fabricated in time for Further Confusion, but since I'm not going to have a booth, it doesn't matter I s'pose.
Anyhoo, I hope everyone is feeling the holiday cheer, and has at least one thing in their life that they can be thankful for. Stay warm and seek cuddles at every turn. :D

Posted 12 years agoA random update with a random title...
Is the year already coming to an end? The weather is changing again, even here in California, where it gets much colder in parts than many realize. I know some of my parts have felt warmer. Overall, things are good; I've been busy with classes and work - the usual.
My back-burner electronics hackery is moving along, slowly as usual. I got a few really thoughtful responses about how to improve my fursuit controller gadget. I was pretty excited about the idea of releasing a kit, and putting together an indiegogo campaign to fund a few beta units. One thing that became clear from feedback, however, is that people expect more of a finished product, with a campaign geared more towards commercial sales of that product. As a result, I'm going to delay my campaign, and just order parts for a single prototype.
Sometimes its easy to feel like the intersection of hackers and furries is rather large, because many of us have an alternative personality streak, to put it lightly. On the other hand, I think most people (at least in the US) are accustomed to electronics products being totally massaged by big R&D and marketing budgets. I can see why it seems odd for many people to think of electronics development as an open and collaborative creative process, especially to some artists for whom art is a very personal endeavor.
Now I'm trying to decide how to spend the few weeks after classes end, before Further Confusion. Sewing or soldering?

Random Update
Posted 12 years agoWhat's up y'all. I was getting tired of seeing my last/only journal post from FC'13 here. Just a quick update...
Things are good, I've been having a busy summer. I got to connect with the fam (actual family) down in sunny SoCal. I'm working on a couple programming projects (not my own), and getting ready to start another semester of wonderful lower-division fancypants math here at the junior college. After a very unexpected apartment crisis, the GF and I are looking for a new place to live, in or near Berkeley. In the mean time I'm couch surfing with a good friend, living in my handy-dandy portable man-cave. In spite of all that, I hope to spend the last few weeks of summer getting out to do some fun local things. First up? Maybe Furries in the Wild 3.

Further Confusion 2013
Posted 12 years agoGoing to my first con and it's on like donkey kong! I'll be roaming alone or with the gf-unit. Looking to form clandestine badger task force. Ferrets considered on case-by-case basis.
