Important, please read...
Posted 10 years agoBe you a watcher, fan, or raffle winner... I believe it's important you read further. From this day on, and until I feel I'm ready. I'll be putting everything on hold... my reason for this is simple. I do not feel I'm where I should be as an artist-painter. There's so much I've yet to learn, a lot of it I feel is necessary to practice on. This I'm not ashamed to admit.
That said, I apologize deeply to my raffle winner's. If it's any comfort, you'll still get your prize... it'll just take longer. I guess you'll have to look at things at my prospective to understand. I honestly don't feel comfortable doing artwork that I feel is anything but my best, I truly don't.
To further this deeper, I'll also be striving to reach out to other artists who I believe will be kind enough to point out what I need to work on. With that in mind, I'll be presenting artwork that will be strictly practice... mostly landscaping and animals of different varieties. In the end, I hope to walk away a better artist.

Posted 10 years agoYes, I'm back... I've been unfortunately busy dealing with an episode of depression that hit me hard, leaving me caring little for my hobbies, including art. For this, I apologize deeply to those of whom are expecting artwork from me.
I'll be getting my ass into gear and start shelling out sketches once I obtain some art supplies. Until then, continue being patient.

Magic: the Gathering... puts a smile on Howlie's face!
Posted 10 years agoI'm feeling rather smug right now. I just got home from a, Modern Format- mtg tournament, that lasted three days. Granted it was a small tournament compared to those hosted in, LA, Dallas, and I believe NY. I honestly had doubts about getting through to the second half of the tournament, however, I made it by the skin of my teeth... I even made it to the third half, and took 5th place, in the top 10. My prize was a box of, Modern Masters 15... and a chance to head out to either LA or Dallas Granprix. ^ ^
I was running, Modern Splinter Twin... which only mtg players know to be a hateful deck to face. My version however had my overall touch to it, while keeping the overall core intact. My first matches where absolutely easy, but by the 20th match, experienced players started to show... so thing's became rather hard for me. I had to really dig deep into my experience as a mtg player since 1993.
Anywho, I made it to the third round on the third day... which was absolutely bonkers. Sooooo many outrageous decks... some where easy to recognize, others where rouge decks that made it through. I even had to face decks similar to my own. Fortunately I chose my sideboard wisely in order to beat them.

Coming out of the closet?
Posted 10 years agoNo, I'm not the one coming out, I'm bisexual... so I know my sexuality, rather it was a friend of mine who did. I even helped him come out to his parents and sibling... after coming out to me. Honestly, the experience for me was emotional on different levels. For one, I watched a man who has had to lie to those he loved for so many years, unchain himself, from a life he no longer wanted to live... a life full of heartache and turmoil, and in doing so, begin anew. It was actually rather beautiful to witness, in a time and place where being gay is still heavily frowned upon... namely, Oklahoma.
What truly made this experience special, is that unknowingly unto him, I'm bisexual... thus he had no idea what my overall reaction would be once he broke down in my living room. You see, I'm very private about my sexuality... even towards family and close friends. Many see me as a straight and narrow male... given the hardy country working life I live and breathe. Though, ironically, my mother is gay... so you would assume I'm 100% alright with someone being gay, and I am. It's just, well... there's just not a lot of folks who know my mother is gay, therefore, one would be clueless in where I stand regarding the matter. (I don't give out that information for good reason, namely to protect her.)
Anyway, once he told me, I picked him up, gave my friend a warm hearted hug... and told him there's absolutely nothing wrong with the way he is, and that I loved him. I even told him he was brave for coming out... more so towards a friend who you would be lead to believe would never stand for such a thing. The fact that he threw caution to the wind and told me of all people... says a lot about him, and myself as a friend.

Congratulations! ^ ^My apologies for not announcing the winner far earlier. I unfortunately had something important to deal with. I had to pick a new winner on account of the original winner becoming a fucking five year old child because I refused to give in to this individuals porn addiction. Who this individual is, I want say... what I will say however is this.
"If you win something from me, and you want something dirty, there's no harm in asking. Who knows, you might just get it, after all... I'm actually a really friendly individual. However, don't assume I'll do something of that nature right out of the gate, then bitch and complain when I kindly tell you, no... please pick something else. I assure you, I'm the last person, as this individual found out, to curse at and threaten.
Sorry, but I haven't lived as long as I have because I'm a push over. I've survived three gun shots... one in the shoulder, two in the gut, plus four stabbings, third degree burns on my stomach and legs, and many more death causing bullshit...
