Commissions Opening May 28
Posted 3 months agoHeads up that I'll be opening my commissions form on Wednesday (May 28)!
Does anyone have experience with (free) mailing list services? I wanted to set up a little non-social-media backup for commission announcements. I only need to send 2 emails every 3-4 months, and I don't expect a ton of signups.
I suppose I could also just set up a gdoc and a separate e-mail account and manually do it, but I worry that might just get that address immediately flagged as spam :'D Using a dedicated service feels less likely for that to happen ahahah

Going to start going through the submissions now and getting quotes done up and e-mails sent out through today and tomorrow! Very excited to see what I'll get to draw! :3

Whether or not someone is a Patron won't affect commission slot selections. I couldn't figure out a way to have commission-related rewards while keeping to my "artist choice" method of slot-filling without it feeling unfair if I didn't choose a Patron's submission, so there aren't any. It's just an extra thing with behind-the-scenes looks, if anyone's interested in that stuff \o/

Artists who do the "form open for a while, choose what I want to draw" method for commissions... how do you go about the guilt (or lack there of) of saying no to people? Even if that no is just not sending an e-mail.
Commissioners, what if the artist just never accepts your comm?
I personally much prefer something juried over first-come-first-served (ie convention table apps), so my reasons for doing small-batch FCFS are entirely selfish... but if commissioners also prefer not having to rush with the chance of not getting in, I may consider switching.
I'm bad at saying no a lot of the time (a thing I'm trying to improve on this year), though I thankfully haven't yet come across a commission I really don't want to do! :) But I also don't want to have a long queue sitting over my head, which feels like option C, a longer-open form.
Anyway pls feel free to chime in with opinions from both sides of the art-buying transaction, I genuinely want to know what people think! I won't be making any changes quite yet to how I open - the next batch will be done like always.
