...how long has it been?
Posted 2 years agoEnber Here! I haven't really been posting here for... a while, huh?
It's been a bit harder to get to conventions with the kids (there's two now) and covid and all that, plus work... and now I'm a good bit out from Atlanta so FWA isn't a day trip.
But!
My art muse has returned, and I'm active on social media again. I never quite stopped, just disappeared from Twitter for a while for Tumblr instead. And now you'll catch me on BlueSky the most.
Commissions are, as of this post, open - wander over to my website or ko-fi for info about those, while I figure out how to update everything here...

An Annual Tradition!
Posted 10 years agoContinuing my horrible-at-updating-this-dang-journal-streak, here's my once-a-year announcement!
I'll be at FWA, suiting as Enber, this April! After that, I'll be one of the dealers at OutlantaCon. Watch for me in Artist Alley at FWA. I'll be bringing my jewelry, horns, hoofboots, and unicorn horns! I'll be bringing that, plus fandom goodies (do you like Destiel?) at OutlantaCon.
I'm going to start doing more digital art again, and keeping up with putting photographs of my crafted works up on here. In the meantime, I DO post actively on Twitter!
If you'd like to socialize with me, my main account is EnberFox. If you want to follow my art, HuntressLight. If you're curious about the novel series I'm working on, Lilithian Seeds, keep track of that at byEnberlight. It's a hard SciFi series with fantasy and steampunk elements, that explores what happens when the demons of our past come back to claim their future in our world, before it is sacrificed to humanity's insatiable greed. The novels feature a diverse cast, including main and supporting LGBTQ characters. And of course some of the demons are of the furry variety ;)
Drop me a line if you're interested in the first run of production Hoofboots! I'll have teasers and WIP shots here soon. I only have a few sizes in stock to work with right now. If you wear anything from a 5 to an 8, watch closely! You can have a chance at your own gorgeous Luna, Magma, Fawn, or Horse Hoofboots! I have a limited number of custom color slots. Not your size? Tell me what is, and what you want me to make - I can track down the right boot base for you :)

FWA 2014 Recap
Posted 11 years agoI had an absolutely amazing time at the con. I just can't even. It was a lot of firsts for this introverted recluse. Not my first furry con since I did hit FWA for a day last year. Which was the first and only time I'd ever been to ANY convention. But this was my first time going all out and staying at the hotel all weekend. Extra thanks to my roomies for having me and being extra cool. And tidy! No chaos room of doom with space wars which is always my fear when in one bath enclosed spaces with multiple people. My family trips are more stressful than rooming with y'all <3
This was also my first time suiting ever. Omg fun. I totally fulfilled the cost of con and suit this weekend. I was HAPPY. I smile so rarely that it's pretty damned amazing when I get to do it dozens of times a day and for hours on end for four crazy days. THANK YOU SO DAMNED MUCH FURRIES!
If anyone has pics of me in or out of my Enber suit, please msg me!
huge thanks to my roomies

doktorno
And flailing happy waves to the awesome people I collected from Doktorno, y'all made my weekend along with them. Wish I knew all y'all's tags
skittle
sixpence
And super extra gratitude to ALL.the amazing artists I met in Dealer's Den but especially the people I hung with late at night at Artist Alley which includes strolling furrpersons who chatted with me while I crafted shiny things :3
With an extra shoutout to the two who made me such great badges!

rikaI'm Alive! And going to FWA...
Posted 11 years agoThis last year has been insane. Has it really been so long since I updated? I guess it has... not long after last year's FWA, I got hired on full-time at an engineering firm, and have been busy busy busy since. We moved out of my in-law's into our own townhouse last April, and I haven't had spare time to breathe let alone play with all the art supplies I have stocked up.
So much jewelry. Some clay. (Shoot, horns I haven't even put on Etsy yet!) and I've shifted over to working with modeling plastics for horns and hooves. But I haven't had time to finish my hoof-boot project yet, or list more things for sale, because, breathing!
And right now I'm coming up on the end of my lease so I'm working on getting a permanent home with that ever-so-grown-up MORTGAGE THING YAY instead of eternal sinkhole of life sucking rent doom. I'm tired of emptying my wallet over and over again for something I don't get to keep ;_;
Anyway, I have news! I have my first fursuit, named Enber. I got her late last year as a refurb from
Sharpe19, the original maker is
zhivagod. I'll be adding some special features to her, before and after pics to come soon because... FWA is upon us!
I wouldn't have even remembered it's this early in the year if
doktorno hadn't mentioned it tonight. I rushed over and got my membership pass for FWA and Dragon*Con. So I'll be hanging with Doktorno and crew for the weekend, and you'll spot us around Dragon*Con plus some non-furries like my husband and fellow dragon cosplayers (Yes, people in dragon costumes who aren't outed furries. Hee hee).
Anyway, pics and more stuff later, sleep now, because my alarm goes off in four hours. Yipe!

FWA! Meme thingy
Posted 12 years agoStoleded from Junkdog :3
Where are you staying?
I'm local, just driving in!
What day are you getting there?
Saturday
Departure?
Errrrr
Transportation?
Driving myself and my husband in :3
Who will you be rooming with?
Nobody!
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
junkdog and my husband, but feel free to come say hi!
Will you be suiting?
Not quite, I will be in costume but I don't have a furry partial :( Look for the winged, horned lady wearing a brown leather corset getup :3
Which suits?
;_; do not owwwwn.
What is your gender?
Female.
How tall are you?
5'4" but I shall be wearing boots of heelness. Yessss.
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Very much taken, very much happy, very much monogamous. So not looking, don't ask.
Can I talk to you?
Oh yes! I'm rather friendly.
Can I touch, hug, or snuggle you?
Handshakes and high fives n such are cool, but Please don't glomp on me unless I know you well. I'm a bit skittish about physical contact unless I've known someone for years and years. (A select few people get lotsa snuggles from me.) Also, I'm bound to be utterly paranoid about my wings, which will not make for good huggings XD
How can I find you?
Look for the pale lady wearing brown leather corset and steampunk skirt, with black wings and brown horns. My hair will either be short and auburn, or I'll be wearing a shoulder length black wig with feathers.
Can I visit your room?
Don't have one
Will you be going to parties?
Probably not, but maybe! Depends on the timing.
Can I buy you drinks?
I don't do the alcohol thing, I don't find it particularly tasty and I'm driving home anyway! But a bottled soda (orange, root beer, sprite) or water is cool.
I'd rather you buy me sushi though V^^V
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Holler "Hey, Huntress Light!" or "Kemi!" at me :3 "Freaky demon fae lady!" works well too if you forget my name. It isn't technically accurate but you'll get it when you see me dressed up XD
What/where will you be eating?
Depennnnnnds. Where are we going? XD
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If there's room in the group and everyone's cool with it, why not? As I will be tagging around with others, though, they'll have a say in any plans of course.
Can I take your picture?
Absolutely!! Please send me a copy or link me to it if you put it online <3 Tag me back here or use HuntressLight Designs on Facebook for a tag there :3
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Have fun, get great pictures, and meet a lot of people!
Are you nice?
Maybe too much so XD
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
I hope I remember to bring one. If I do, yes please!
Do you have an artist table?
Probably not. I plan to in the future but this year I just want to wander about and enjoy myself. If you're a fan of my costume props or artwork though, message me about my stock and commissions. I have stuff I haven't photographed yet and can make some time for things after work...
Do you do free art?
As I am poor and have very little time left after my new job, any art I do will have to be for something in return. Even if that means a trade in kind or bartery things like foooood. :3
Will you be performing?
Ah, no. But I might be entertaining after cupcakes and root beer. Seriously, I have no use for alcohol - just provide me with sugar. Same results, no headache, better flavor.
Better yet, root beer and chocolate. And sushi. Seriously, get me on a sugar-choco-fish high and I'm just a happy grinning giggledork.

FWA, Weasyl, WINGS! New Projects!
Posted 12 years agoI'll be going to FWA this month. I'm really looking forward to it as it's my first con. Anyone going to be there, or, better yet, any of you vending? I'd love to see your works in person!
I won't have a partial this year but I will be going in costume as my humanized avatar HuntressLight. I'm just waiting on two elements to come in the mail, the corset and the custom wings I commissioned from Danielle Hurley. They. Are. Fabulous. I'll be wearing them with a brown steampunk style corset outfit. Not sure if I'll have the free time to finish crafting my accessories, more on the reason for that in a moment!
https://www.etsy.com/transaction/120669120
I got an account over at Weasyl last month. I'll still be on here and dA but I'm rather liking the setup there, it'll be my non-wip gallery with just finished projects, from furry to human to jewelry and leatherworking.
https://www.weasyl.com/profile/huntresslight
Ah yes, leatherworking! I used part of my tax return to get some leathercrafting and stamping supplies. I'll be making wrist bands, purses, belts, wallets, all kinds of thingamajigs soon. Also, I'll be dabbling with feather headdresses! Not as soon as I'd initially planned though as I am now employed! I have a full time job working as a GIS Technician. The timing couldn't have been better, we'd totally run out of our savings post-move. Five months of unemployment after $4k in moving expenses is KILLER. So... I'm still broke right now. But don't have to worry about being that way forever now, huzzah! And I'll have a little spending money for the con. I still need to make more of a go with my art business though, because just one income isn't enough to support three people @.@ But it's a good sight easier than no income at all!

Animatronic Tail! Order yours by March 7th!
Posted 13 years agoI'm sure a lot of you have heard of the animatronic cat ears called "Nekomimi," and maybe even seen some in action at conventions. And you might have also heard about the prototype animatronic tail, "Shippo." Well, have you heard that it's going into mass production under the name Tailly?
The producer of the tails, which will be activated by your pulse, has started a fundraiser to launch the product line via Indiegogo. Now's your chance to preorder one for yourself! You can get them with just a white tail, or pay a little more and get four different color fur-sleeves for the tail. You can also buy two-packs, 10-packs, and vendor-sized 40-packs! (A great idea for groups and costume/suit makers!)
The prices are really reasonable, if you've ever tried to get a furry tail, let alone one that MOVES. Especially when you buy one of the bundles. I know where a little bit of my tax return is going! Please spread the word and reserve yours, I'd love to see this succeed <3
TAILLY on indiegogo
In personal news, I'm still on the lookout for an office job. I have my fingers crossed that something will sort out soon, we sorely need the income after being unemployed post-move for four months now. The job market's hard everywhere @.@ To ease our financial pain, I'm making jewelry and taking digital commissions. My jewelry starts at $5 per piece, up to $30, and art commissions start at $10 and go up from there. I do 3D pet portraits for $25, and larger 3D bipedal character commissions starting at $50. They can be a finished piece, or a ref sheet with turnaround. I'll have a polished price sheet with references soon, for now, please browse my gallery. My second most recent journal before this one has a summary of estimated prices and examples to go with them.

Free Yarn Tail? Yes please :3
Posted 13 years agoI was rather pleased when I was scrolling down my FB feed on my new phone yesterday. (Yay for a Christmas present that brings me into the modern era and saves me from the broken flip phone!) You see, SkahllyBir Tails - if you haven't heard of them, where've you been?! - are holding an anniversary giveaway where three people will win vouchers to get one of their lovely handcrafted yarn tails. You can enter here, or on Facebook, or both for up to three chances! Go follow one of these links to get more info, and good luck!
And seriously, if you don't know what a SkahllyBir tail is, you won't forget after seeing their work :3

In other news, I'm on the hunt for a new office job now that we're settled in fairly well in Georgia. Wish me luck! In the meantime, I'm still working on digital art - paintings and 3D - and jewelry. I'll have some new Feng Shui necklaces available in my Etsy shortly, I'll be doing a photo session over the weekend now that I have a necklace dummy again. I'm officially open for digital commissions of all sorts, and will have a price sheet soon. I work for peanuts right now, with $25-50 base prices. I take jewelry commissions too, and my necklaces are $5-25. Want more info, drop me a line! I very rarely bite :3
Horn commissions are closed for the time being, as I don't have the proper work/curing space for the clay right now :( I'll be loading the last batch to Etsy soon though - I'm going to snazz them up a little with jewels first. Stay tuned!

Opening Commissions to pay the bills!
Posted 13 years agoI need to bring in some funds to support my family, so it's Commissions Time! I'll be posting up an official price sheet once I have it ready, featuring some of my latest projects as examples. For now, here's a taste of what I can do. Please drop me a line if you'd like to discuss an idea!

Provide me a reference (preferably visual) and I can recreate it on a 3D model! Those marked with an "(*)" are ready to go now. Others need some final prep work.

(*) Domestic Cats

( ) Lizard Anthros - COMING SOON (were-style Digitigrade, resembling dinosaurs or komodos more than dragons)
( ) Feral Dragons (Western, Asian, Wyverns)
Digital Paintings - Your Lineart
Provide me with lineart you did yourself, or bought from someone else (as long as you have permission to hire a colorist!) and I can finish it for you in color! I charge about $5 an hour.
(If you want me to provide the lineart, add $10 to all price levels)
This is an example of a small piece, with Flatcolor, Basic Shading, and Detailed Shading all shown.
Small (Individual Portraits, Busts, Waist-Ups)
$5 - Flatcolor
$10 - Basic Shading
$20 - Detailed Shading
Medium (Full figure, couples, more details)
$10 - Flatcolor
$20 - Basic Shading
$30 - Detailed Shading
Large/Complex (3+ figures, scenes, with background)
$20 - Flatcolor
$40 - Basic Shading
$60 - Detailed Shading
(+ $10 for each character over 3.)
Jewelry Commissions
I hand-craft necklaces and bracelets. Right now I don't have a "studio" space, but I will have a decent work area when I move in January. I will be making more ready-made items then, which can be found in my Etsy Store. At that point, I'll also snap some photos of my supplies and offer up some custom work.
Here's a sampling of some things I have for sale now.
Shipping is $7 for a flat rate priority mail box with insurance. I can fit multiple pieces in the small box. Larger shipments are $12 for the medium with insurance.
Costume Horn Commissions
I hand-sculpt and paint clay horns strung on clear elastics, so that you can wear them "invisibly." They've been a big hit on Etsy and at the Furbowls. I have a stock on hand I'll be photographing after the move in January and putting up for sale. At that point, I'll have the work space to take custom commissions again!
Here are some examples! A couple are left on Etsy.
And here's the batch that will be going up in January.
$10 - Unicorn Horns
$15 - short horns sets 2" and less
$20 - Horn sets 3-4"
$30 - Magma and 5" horn sets
I will not be taking larger horn commissions at this time, as they are rather expensive to make and ship. If price is not a problem, though, you can drop me a line and I'll let you know if your idea's within my skill level :3
Shipping is $7 for a flat rate priority mail box with insurance. I can fit 2-3 sets in the small box. Larger shipments are $12 for the medium with insurance.
3D Custom Characters
Provide me a reference (preferably visual) and I can recreate it on a 3D model! Those marked with an "(*)" are ready to go now. Others need some final prep work.
Prices begin at $25 per character for simpler models and $50 for complex models. Each addition of a rendered extra body part (wings, horns) or postwork-painted outfit will be $10. Additional characters, or "bulk" orders, can be done at a discount.
$25 base price, + $10 for additions
(*) Domestic Cats
( ) Big cats (Panthers, Lions, Tigers)
( ) Dogs/Wolves - COMING SOON
( ) Horses
( ) Feral Wildlife (Elephant, Mammoth, Antelope, Zebra)
$50 base price, + $10 for additions
(*) Humans (+ angel wings, + demon wings, + horns)
( ) Feline Anthros - COMING SOON (were-style Digitigrade, and more human-style Plantigrade)
( ) Canine Anthros - COMING SOON (were-style Digitigrade, and more human-style Plantigrade)

Jewelry and Vintage Sales, 3D Commissions Fundraiser
Posted 13 years agoBack in October, my family moved 700 miles to get a new start on things. We were barely making ends meet where we were, even with two jobs, and knew living expenses would be much more reasonable here in Georgia, where we'll actually be able to afford a home of our own rather than being stuck in the Renting Forever Cycle Of Doom. We had a job lined up for when we moved here... but it's fallen through. We've been here two months without any income now, and our savings are gone. Our bills, of course, aren't stopping, and even though we are living rent-free with family, we still need to contribute to the utilities and make my car payments. While we're passing out our resumes and hoping for interviews, I'll be devoting my time to my craft. While I don't presume that my crafting and digital painting is going to bring in the $600 a month we need to stay afloat, I'm hoping it will help enough so that we don't totally flounder while waiting for the job call backs we're hoping for.
Right now, I have several jewelry items - handcrafted by me, and vintage - as well as some of my hand-made costume horns up in my Etsy store. I also have several beautiful tops, dressy casual and work blouses, that aren't quite vintage enough to sell there. I'll be entertaining offers; you can see a photo of them on my Facebook page. Any little purchase and even signal boosting will be much loved, I'm still trying to get my name out there and it's slow going right now. So I'm also hosting a free necklace giveaway over on Facebook, you can find the details there :3
I'll also be opening digital commissions shortly. My examples are a little lacking at the moment, but you can get a general idea from my gallery about what I do. I mostly work in digital painting and 3D rendering. If that tickles your fancy, drop me a line with your idea and character reference. I'll have an example and price sheet up soon to give a better idea of what I can do, and will do. Base prices will start at $25-50 for 3D custom character renders, which typically include digital painting in postwork. Actual commissioned pieces will be more refined than the WIPs I have in my gallery.
My Etsy Store is here, with costume props, jewelry, etc.
My Facebook Page is here, with the free giveaway and sneak peaks and coupons and all kinds of little tidbits.

Coming back from Hiatus!
Posted 13 years agoI do believe that in all the rush of moving, I never posted a notice here!
Well, back in October I moved from Delaware to Georgia. It took a little while to get settled and get all our furniture in and our belongings unpacked, and then I still had to find a new computer desk to replace the one we couldn't bring with us. Now that I have a proper desk setup, I'll be able to get back to my digital work. I don't really have the space to do my costume crafts right now, nor the opportunity for that with a 2-year old, 5-year old, and twin 8-year-olds running through the place. Love my niece and nephews :3 There's just no space to work around those whirlwinds with clay and paints! We might be able to move out into a bigger place soon, though, but until then, it'll be digitals and occasional jewelry, but no more horns.
I do have a last batch of horns, and some prototype clay ears, as well as some jewelry to photograph and put up for sale, and semi-vintage clothing (lovely dressy crochet and silk tops, and some work outfits; most are S/M and 4/6/8 in nearly-new condition). Once I have things photographed, I'll post the jewelry, horns, and ears here, and add them to my Etsy store and Facebook gallery. The clothing will end up on Etsy as well, with an announcement on FB about the sale. I hope to have a bunch of stuff ready in the coming weeks :3
As for digital work, I'll be practicing some of my new models and background ideas, then opening commissions.
To keep up to date on my progress, check me out on Facebook:
www.Facebook.com/HuntressLightDesigns
I make updates most frequently on there, and stick in sneak peaks of things too.
For my sales of physical items, there's my Etsy store. New horns, ears, and jewelry coming soon!

Dreyrull Rockethub! Want to RP & get Art?
Posted 13 years agoFor several years now I've been involved in an illustrated, text-based RP called Realm of Dreyrull. Part fantasy, part early steampunk, it's set in a world colonized by humans and inhabited by a wide variety of sentient creatures, from elementally gifted canids to small foxlike creatures, to two-legged furrs from origins both earthly and fantastic. There's room for all writing styles and levels, and the world is richly and broadly developed. Care to find your niche within our world? Characters come with customized artwork, by the way <3
Right now, we're wrapping up several months of coding and behind-the-scenes work to relaunch the site on a new server, with an all-new (and awesomely designed) forum. We're eying a relaunch in late August, and in prep for that, the Creator of Dreyrull, Stryde, has begun a Rockethub campaign to help meet the remaining coding costs.
Rewards will include custom artwork like emoticons, playable characters, digital paintings, and even claiming Stryde as your personal art slave if you're a mega-contributor.
~~~ Check out the Fundraiser Here! ~~~
If you'd like to know more about the Realm of Dreyrull, we have a wiki that's nearing completion, and there's an artwork gallery showcasing the characters and planned forum layout. (The forum itself currently has the curtain drawn down while our coder tweaks the Amazing into place.) If you're *really* keen on getting to know more about it though, drop me a line! I've been a member for years, both as one of the literate roleplayers, and on the colorist and editing staff. Somewhere stuffed into my brain is info on just about every corner of the vast world we've created and play in, and I have my paws in the leadership or membership of many of the key packs and human organizations at work in the world. So, as long as you're gentle, you may pick at my knowledge :3
Free Full Color Art Pimpin - + Korra?
Posted 13 years agoYeah, still finding some nifty free raffles, figured I'd try my luck on this one :3
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3591610/
You get a free full color portrait with backdrop by
GhettoImmortal! Runs through July 5th. Good luck!
In Other News
I finished watching the first season of Legend of Korra. I have my quibbles with a couple things in the last few episodes, but I am much looking forward to the next season. And I am inspired! I was working with my new canine model to make my own form (Halshaa), and after watching the ep I realized... I bet I can make Naga with it, too!
So, who wants to see some Naga art, with Korra and possibly more of the gang? (Any preferences who?) I'm a bit partial to Korra's design, maybe because I did a Katara fanart yeaaaarrrrsss ago (2006) that I enjoyed doing and got some praise. I really want to see what I can pull off this time around with my improved digital painting skills ^x^ Naga and Korra would be based off of customized 3D models with their "outfits" and a background painted in by hand.
They're not at the very top of my priority list as I have a couple commissions and several gifts to finish up first... but they're likely to be my in-between dabbling fun time exercise :3
OTHER NEWS
I've been quiet lately XD I was away for a bit on a super awesome trip with super awesome people, and the lead-up and wind-down from that kept me busy. I've also been tinkering in the background with different crafting materials and techniques. I almost have my torc necklaces perfected, and will be sharing designs once I've gotten that down pat. In the meantime, I'll be working up some regular necklaces as well, and tinkering with drinking horns and poseable, realistic ears. And possibly plushies, if it turns out I have a knack for felting. I got some supplies to experiment, we'll see!
Mixed in will be final stages for a bunch of digital work, plus some new gifties... then I should have enough of a 3D portfolio together to work up a commission sheet and officially open for business!
Follow me on Facebook at HuntressLightDesigns for sneak peeks, the latest news, and coupons for my Etsy store. I drop hints and peeks more often there than I remember to update journals XD
Gryfon/Wolf Novel Kickstarter! Signed Hardcover, Awesome Art
Posted 13 years agoI like to peek around at the various Kickstarters going around the art and writing communities. But I'm usually able to resist and stick to my strict poor-artist-and-working-mother budget.
But this book. This one, I WANT. Desperately. So I pledged my $25 to get a copy of "The Song of the Summer King" by Jess Owen <3
And I want to spread the word and help get this book to print, so I can get ahold of the goodies that come with my pledge *x* She's over halfway there with 23 days left to go.
About the Novel
The novel features Gryfons and Wolves, with the main character a young male Gryfon. The novel opens with him entering into a hunt to prove his worth to the Gryfon King... something vital to his inclusion in the pride, for he is one of the last-born of the conquered local race. I've read the first three chapters (which are available online), and I'm hooked.
But that's not all. The cover is printed, edge to edge, front to back, with a beautiful painting by Nambroth. One of my favorite fantasy artists of all time. And if that isn't sweet enough? Tanathe and Akreon, the team behind the comic Off-White, has made a side-comic that comes as an e-bonus to backers.
The hardcover book - signed - with Nambroth art cover, e-comic, and digital copy of the book, along with a postcard, are all yours for pledging $25 or more. It gets sweeter from there. Shipping is free in the US, $10 international.
Of course, if you're short on cash, a $5 pledge will get you just the ebook and a postcard - still worth your time. But the hardcover is going to be a sweet collectible, and the cover itself is a work of art. Literally! Two for the price of one, IMO - a great book AND a Nambroth print.
Agh, Life! Why do you do this?
Posted 13 years agoThe fridge conked out again :p It did this a couple months ago when the circulation fan froze over because of a defrost-refreeze problem in the freezer section. Melted water turned to ice, clogged up the fan, no more cold air going down into the fridge. We lost most everything in it but thankfully it wasn't too much, since we were due for a grocery run.
Well, it happened again :p This time Maintenance is switching a different fridge in for us. But I've lost gallons of milk, the cheese, the lunch meats... that I just bought this week. Ugh. My food budget is already nonexistant, so this rather sucks. Most of our stuff was in the freezer though, thank goodness, and everything up there's fine.
Upside? The fridge was due for an expiration check and scrub-down, and now my husband's got the expired goods all chucked and I don't have to scrub anything!
He's sure to make me handle the dirty dishes though in recompense XD
As I mentioned on my Facebook page, the Etsy store opening was postponed due to the camera flash nomming all the color out of the horns, and the fact that I make a positively hideous model for my costume horns. (No, seriously, trust me. I frightened myself!) The latter problem was resolved last night, when I picked up a couple of wig-display heads to do my modeling for me. The horns fit on them and still stay upright (those horns are so nice and light <3), so I should be prepping new photos tonight. I might have to paint the display head first though, because my camera throws tantrums with too much white in the picture. Goal is to have everything ready by the end of the weekend, though.
Do you like coupon codes? Yes? Great! GOFA10 will get you 10% off of all merchandise in my Etsy Store when it opens. Those who took a business card from me at FurBowl, use the code on the back ;)
And as mentioned in my last journal, I'll be venturing into Adult Art with my 3D models. For more information on what I will and won't do with that, and where the pictures will be, I have an alt FA account: DeepDesire.
I have some delicious plans brewing for some goodies that will be uploaded there (I'll be keeping this account Tame). I'm considering something of a series, possibly short comics? I'll have to see if I have a good sense of panel layout first. Feel free to Watch DeepDesire even if it's empty, that will change soon :3
Posted 13 years agoI'll be opening commissions for 3D digital character art soon. In preparation, I made an alt gallery to hold adult-themed and explicit works. This gallery will hold my costume and accessory creations along with my "clean" art. (Such things are also cross-posted to my original dA gallery.) Anything that I wouldn't be able to submit to dA will be on the new alt gallery.
Adult Art Alt: deepdesire
It's empty right now, but I'll be experimenting with some things prior to opening commissions, so it won't stay that way.
For an idea of what I'll be doing, see my most recent 3D couple portrait, Viral and Reyne. It's tame, but illustrates humanesque anthros I can do. Commissioned works can have a higher level of detail, or be toony. I can also do were-style anthros, humans, angels, demons, and several kinds of feral and mythical creatures. You'll see some of them filter into my submissions over the coming weeks as I prep a price sheet.
Prices, by the way, will be on the low end for 3D art. Pricing will begin around $25-$50, dependent on the difficulty, time required, and level of detail. Anthro models will likely be pricier than feral, as they are a lot more involved and significantly more difficult to map.
Even though commission requests aren't officially open yet, feel free to drop me a line and pick my brain about what I can do, and when!
Custom horn prop requests are open. My existing stock will be going up onto Etsy over the next few days, I'll give a heads up when they're ready! I'll also be making some jewelry and wind chimes soon.
Website Coder Wanted!
Posted 13 years agoA friend of mine is on the hunt for a talented, reliable coder to help her build a new forum from scratch. She has the domain, graphical layout, and interface details worked out. She just needs someone to script it all up for her. Everything is prepped for the coder to go ahead and start working, and she has money... she just needs the coder! She's been told it would be about two months worth of work, and already has an idea of what it will cost. But tracking down an available coder has been difficult. Please give me a holler if you know someone who's looking to take on a detailed project and I'll pass on the reference to her. There's also the potential for an ongoing contract for board tech support.
Hungry tech-savvy cats and other random things
Posted 13 years agoToday, I was butt-texted on AIM by a friend's cat. Said cat has been on a diet, and sat on my friend's phone. Over AIM, she pleaded her case to me:
"Surgeonfish," the poor hungry cat texted.
Fancy cat. I would have settled for tuna or salmon :3
I'll be tackling some of my physical art projects in the coming weeks. Clay horns, gem necklaces and charms, bamboo wind chimes. Along with finishing up a contest entry or two, and the gift arts. Then, on to Esty with the goodies, and I'll open for digital commissions! I'll host a mini-giveaway sometime with the Etsy and my FB account :3
I'm nearing 10k views on my dA. +Watch me there and screencap the 10k, and you'll get a 3D character commish from me for free :3 10k should roll around in the next 2-5 days. My current journal there has all relevant details for how to win ^x^
For my FB and dA Links, check below! The Etsy will be added later once the shop is stocked.
I'll be working hard at art now that Tax Season is done (or nearly done) trying to steal my soul at my day job, and planning for a few fun upcoming things. I'll be at Sakura Sunday in Philly this weekend, going to try to make Furbowl later this month, and have road trip plans for this summer. (yee!)
Upcoming Awesome! & Sakura Sunday in Philly
Posted 13 years agoI'm one happy wolfeh. I know I shouldn't have, but I splurged on myself a bit this past month. And I should be receiving some absolute awesomeness in the next few days - a tail-belt & pouch commission from Lupa, coyote mini-headdress, snake vertebrae earrings, and an antler/stone pendant. And I got a serious destash haul from Zhon that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Cougar and Bear head forms, some green leather that I'm hoping will work with the Huntress outfit, a Zebra hoof, sheep face, and a nice stack of fur scraps. Given that I've wanted to dabble in mask work and expand my taxidermy collection (and usage in crafts), I feel like tomorrow's a holiday!
I just hope I can find the time (and work space) to make use of all this XD Right now I have to do most of my physical artwork when the toddlebit is asleep because I don't have a dedicated room for it. Digital is easier because the computer desk makes for an easier territory to defend. Drying clay and paint? Much harder. The horns I made last week were painted in a workspace I set up on the kitchen stove XD (Off, of course.) We've rearranged the kitchen since though; it's a small apartment thing but I think I might have enough room to bring in the folding chair and a TV table now to work on. Wish me luck!
I also have a new stash of beading and painting supplies, so I'll be making use of those to make up a bunch of horns to put on the Etsy, and will try my hand at a few necklace designs I have in mind as well, along with totem wind chimes and talisman charms. Given that I already work full time, all that's going to move a bit slowly since I do my artwork on weekends and evenings. And weekends have been quite the filled up commodity lately, with the Furbowl and Movie Day last weekend, Easter this, and the Sakura Sunday festival next weekend.
Any chance any of you will be in Philly for that on the 15th? I'll be there with my husband and his martial arts training partner, and wouldn't mind a chance to say hi to any fellow furs who might be there ^x^
HuntressLight Designs, now on Facebook!
Posted 13 years agoAs I get closer to opening commissions, I figured I'd make sure my name was my own wherever I could. HuntressLight Designs (and HuntressLight the Artist) now have a presence on Facebook! I'll be using the HLDesigns page to keep track of developments and schedules, as well as sales and specials when my Etsy opens. I'll be putting Commission slots and "adoptable" character designs there to make payments easy, along with crafted accessories, jewelry, and charms.
Upcoming Art
Posted 13 years agoThe dragons seem to be getting a nice bit of attention :3 Much thanks to everyone who's looking, fave'ing, and sticking around <3 I hope I can keep your eyes pleasantly occupied ^x^
I plan to wrap up Aurasyr (the teal one) over the next couple days, then switch tracks for a while. I hope y'all don't mind that I'll be paying attention to a couple of kitty boys for the next week or so. I need to custom-fur the templates, then hand paint them. I won't be dropping WIPs of them into the gallery, so it'll get a bit quiet until I'm done. I'll probably finish up Raer and The Huntress in between though, because project hopping is good for me and keeps me sane and fresh :3 I also have a tiger lady to finish up; since I'm short-furring the template for the kitty boys she'll be moving along progress-wise as well. I might demo the fur progress on her, we'll see. The head skin is up first and I need a long furred one for my own headshot so I might slip that in to update my avatar... After that I'll be spending some time doing a longer fur template, but once that's done I'll be able to make characters a bit faster. Then, on to anthros and dragons galore! The dragons will be getting a variety of templates along the way, with different scale types and feather and fur options as well. I have a mega project planned for a couples portrait...
Off to the day job now!
In Progress:
Aurasyr (Dragoness)
Raer (Dragoness)
Ress (Winged Tigress - anthro)
Huntress Light (Female humanized anthro)
Upcoming
Kitty Boys Couple Pic
Tyger
Merage
Huntress Light (Full anthro)
Stryde
Calmyhra & Killian Individual & Couples Pics
Sakura Sunday, Dragoncon, Updates!
Posted 13 years agoWe're getting closer to spring, I can nearly taste it <3 The birds are back and serenading the dawn, a sound I've sorely missed. It's still cold here, but there's sunlight and blue skies, and the faintest hints of green and life about the trees and grass. Love it ^x^
I'm scrambling around getting the last elements of my costume together for the Sakura festival in Philly. I'm either going to make or buy some wings at some point, but it's just not in my timeframe or budget right now. After I move, perhaps? I'll be wandering about with my two favorite "bodyguards," my husband and his friend. It should be a great day! If all goes well, I should be the pale curvy lady in black with brown horns. I can't spring for a fursuit just yet so a humanized Huntress will be making the rounds for now ;)
We don't rightly know at this point if we'll be making it to Dragoncon in September after all. We were planning to move in June, but September or October looks more likely due to various collaborating circumstances. I was looking forward to it immensely but the timing is all flubbered.
In art news, I'm making more progress with the 3D models. And I just got a whole slew more this past week *x* Wyvern, Adult Hatchling, a raptor-with-a-saddle, a gargoyle, a reptilian-man morph for my human figures... and I'm making some progress retemplating and color-mapping the dragons and anthro figures. I won't normally post WIPs here but a few will filter through, like the one for Raer's dragon I loaded today. Some humans and weres should be filtering in, completed, soon.
Oh, and I made use of the thumbnail feature to make previews for about half of my gallery. The half where you couldn't tell what in the world that was with the shrunken full image. I think it helps, thoughts?
