I still haven't heard anything but I'm back to rebooking gigs....and maybe sometime soon I'll catch a greyhound to Atlanta to look for homes to rent because I do plan on moving to Georgia sometime soon for music career reasons.
Also should I open my paypal for Donations since this cruise line depleted to 0 my savings to record in London? It would help since I do need money to get to London to record with

-Wasn't able to start my job because of the cruise line fucking up
-I have no money coming in because I quit my day job,cancelled my gigs for spring/summer
-I DM'd the cruise line they sent the DM's to my agent,agent fussed,they also sent DM's to corporate
-Did I mention I'm broke now because of something beyond my control?
So as you can see I'm still stuck in Maryland....and I didn't start my job....why?
Well heres what happened.
My agent thats been with me since my mentor introduced me to him to get through all the requirements of this cruise ship job emailed me saying "Hey I have some good news and some bad news" and then he calls me saying along the lines of the bad news being "the entertainment manager of my new employer got promoted and some paperwork got mixed up or missing for some new hires and you were one of the few that got paperwork mixed up." I'm in too much shock to rage or snap but he could tell in my voice that I was worried and shooken up.
Then he said "The good news is you're still hired and approved so I can call you for subwork" which made my blood boil because there IS NOTHING set in stone for this subwork.
We talked a bit more and once we hung up I sent him a email of how I really felt and I told him it was nothing against him but how the cruise liner fucked up. Like seriously how can a INTERNATIONAL company like that fuck up like this?!
Oh you think it gets any better?
OH Boy does it ever.
So Im freaking out, because
1. I quit my part time day job
2. I cancelled all my gigs and plans for the Spring/Summer
3. My savings for recording in London with foxamoore have been depleted because of their employment requirements
4. I HAVE NO MONEY INCOMING because of this fuck up
So I took the initiative on contacting the cruise line myself via twitter first I @'d them asking if they could follow me so I can DM them because I have a few questions to ask.
Then they said "We have too many guests to follow, just follow us and you can DM us that way"
So I DM'd them saying "Hello I'm sending a message out of Concern, I was recently hired by your company to be a musician on one of your ships and I was told some paperwork went missing and i'm supposed to leave for rehearsal for a few days. Now I can't because of this supposed missing paperwork even though I'm still hired. I quit my day job and cancelled all my gigs for the spring/summer for this opportunity and then this happens is there anyone I can call or talk to about this?"
all I got was "We're looking into this for you" then I give my thanks
A few minutes later my agent emails me saying that Carnival sent him a screen shot of the DM and how it wasn't a good look on both our parts and don't think it was a good idea to do what I did.
Minutes later he was told by my agent That the DM's were sent to the higher ups and he passively started to condemn me.
at this point i had to professionally say "fuck your thoughts, you're fucking with my money" so what I said was
"If you feel it wasn't a smart move so be it but, multiple people's lives and my personal life is on the line here and I'm doing my best to figure out what I can do for myself at the moment and as well I appreciate what you're doing but again I have no income due to all of this and money is being messed with and like any other musician I don't like that."
In fact I'm glad my DM's were sent to the higher ups because it was professional and wasn't hostile. If I do loose my job because of this you better believe if musicians ask about this cruise liner I'll tell them to go the other way.
I'll keep most of you guys who care updated on everything but I am NOT a happy panda right now....

Go figure a panderp gets sick before the new job
Posted 9 years agoHere it is less than a week before the job starts and first I have 3 almost 4 days worth of Migraines then it turns in to a horrible cough and stuffy nose....THANKS SCUMBAG BODY lololol
In other news I lost near 35lbs in order to keep my job so thats a good thing at least :D Started at 255lbs now as of today I'm at 220 :D

I do apologize about the talking in the beginning also I kinda have to keep the fact that I'm in the fandom kinda private but this performance was a HUGE milestone for me because Eurofurence was my FIRST GIG OUTSIDE THE USA!

Posted 10 years agoFirst of all....thank you all who gave their condolences about my grandfather I'm very grateful for all your support as it means A LOT to me thank you.
The following week after his passing i was able to visit Anaheim, CA for a private music industry trade show called "NAMM Show" NAMM stands for: National Association of Music Merchants
which means every NAMM show major to boutique music,sound and lighting equipment brands from ALL over the world would come to this event and show what they plan to release for the upcoming new year.
The things I saw would be too much to write so be prepared for a youtube video on my experiences :)

In other news!!! I landed the gig/job on Carnival Cruise lines as a musician back in December thanks to one of my musical mentors recommending for the gig. The main reason why HE couldn't take the gig was mainly because he has 2 kids and he can't afford to miss any amount of time with them since he already tours so much and on top of that the pay didn't meet his standards.
But hey I'm grateful to land something that pays consistently AND I get to travel between Mexico and Los Angeles!
Now the hang up is I have to meet a BMI point of 30 or 29BMI. So since December i've been changing my eating habits and try to be as physically active as possible (which is hard since it's been snowing :/ ). In december I started at 255lbs now i'm at 232lbs as of Today which means I went from 35bmi to 33bmi
I'm almost there but I have to keep pushing.
ALSO I'll be missing out on A LOT of things because of this new job. I'll be missing out on A LOT of concerts and gigs at home as well as FWA (which lands on my birthday this year),TFF,AC,EF and BLFC.
But hey playing Cons don't pay bills quite yet and I have bills to pay but You'll see me at these cons again soon!

Grandpa is at peace. RIP
Posted 10 years agoSo last week my mom let me know that my grandfather on my dad's side was in hospice care but still at his home. So on Friday we went to go see my grandfather and we could tell he didn't have that much longer.
Even though he couldn't move and he was practically skin and bones he recognized us and lit up, I could tell through his eyes. I told him it was me, and how i'm a working musician now and I've travelled all over the country and how I strive to make him and my family proud with what I love to do.
The cause of his death was because years back he suffered a stroke which caused him to loose one side of his body and then he suffered another stroke shortly after the first one which caused him to loose the other side. so a double stroke.
He lost the ability to talk too but he would still make noises to try to communicate. My grandfather was not only a loving man but a very stubborn one at that.
His stubbornness showed while we visited him, because something told me he was hanging on so he could see my father and I. My father is his first son and I'm my grandfather's first grandson.
The next day I get off work and my mom calls me to let me know he passed on. I was numb....very numb because it was like a repeat of loosing my grandmother back in December of 2000. My mom and I went to go see my grandfather for one last time.
He looked the same but more at peace, but then the undertakers came in and when I saw them wrap my grandfather in his blankets and put him in a body bag and I followed them out with my mother...when they put him in the truck to take him to the funeral home.
I tried to keep myself together but a flood of emotions came over me so I tried to walk off but my mom asked me if i was okay and I broke down. I was doing fine until those undertakers came in.
A hour or so later we left and the ride home was quiet.
Sunday evening I hung out with a friend of mine to keep my mind off things. We went to Nandos and went to go see Star Wars "The force awakens".
Today I just went to work and now I'm here waiting for my family members to come up from Florida and North Carolina and plan the funeral.
TO all my friends who already reached out to me I really appreciate the love and concern. It really means a lot to me.

-My FA IANMJ91 was created in April 2009
-Realized people thought Ian was my name and fursona (NOPE)
-Created Teddy Wynton as my official fursona to be like THIS IS MY FURSONA
-it helped a little but not really lol
So A LOT of you think Ian is my fursona....Nah he's not Teddy is.

Before I joined FA I didn't have a fursona, I only had 3 human characters named

ANYWHO, I was chatting with leonicninja and was asking him about fursonas and we just chatted for a bit and he decided to create a Red Panda character for me based on a description I had of Ian at the time...http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3556360/
and then BOOM Ian-Wynton was created in March of 2009....keep note this was before I was on FA and my human characters were my main concentration
A month later I created my FA Ianmj91
Ian named after my first anthro character and MJ91 stood for the name of my DA page

Then I started to go to cons (Furfright 2010 was my first con) and I realized people thought my name was Ian only because of my User name but because of the art of Ian that I had at the time
Now...IRL I'm a bit on the chubby side, nowhere near as cool as Ian's personality is and yeah Ian is very athletic while I'm not.
Ian is a character I created because I wanted a anthropomorphic character at the time not a anthro character thats ME all around.
So that lead me to thinking maybe I can create a official fursona hopefully it could clear some things up.
So Teddy was created....and instead of having two first names I made Wynton a last name so Teddy would be Ian's younger brother.
Teddy is everything I am IRL, Slightly on the chubby side,a musician, shy at times,etc.
But did it help...a little but y'know my user name kinda screwed things lol
anywho I hope I cleared things up. XP

Now…I’m stammering because of the cons I agreed to play at (TFF,BLFC) so I told him “I already kinda have 2016 scheduled but what are the details?”

Hey guys it’s Teddy here so recently A family friend of mine out in Los Angeles direct messaged me on Instagram on October 18th saying
“I have of jazz gigs coming and I Need a drummer who can play straight ahead and alot of swing in South Africa in December
being honest about my drumming I say “wooooo i’m still working on my swing but I would love to do a gig in the motherland.”
Then I asked about work visas he said “everything will be covered”
Then I asked “awesome and the pay would be?”
He said “$750 a show plus Perdiem”
This is too good to be true I just got my passport I just did a gig in Berlin Germany (Eurofurence) (Got flown out and it was a great experience) and now another gig out of the country and it’s paying amazingly, like this will be the most of ever gotten paid in my life.
I mean do the math $750 x 7 equals around $5500 and that’s not even including the Perdiem money.
Anywho I told him “yo I am down, when do rehearsals start?” He replies “So we are going to start rehearsal on Dec 1st. Working the details on the band now. I will keep you posted.”
When he said that that my red flags should’ve went off like crazy because at this point because it shows everything was still in the air but I was too excited to read into what he said.
But like a dumbass I told my job that I might have seven gigs in south Africa and MY management is kind of freaking out thinking that I’m going to leave the job. now I have to go into my job and tell them that the gig is not happening.
Any who more questions get asked I ask about the rehearsals I was told, they were supposed to be in Los Angeles , rehearsals will start on December 1, the flight to Los Angeles would be covered and Per-diem pay the rehearsals would be extra pay as well so I will be getting paid per rehearsal too.
Again too good to be true but I went with it.
I said “Okay where do I sign the contract? I’m ready to go”
He said “hold on we are still finalizing everything first we Will let you know who is going by tomorrow for certain.”
So I reply saying “Oh word. I already sent a email to my job letting them know I might have to quit and then come back after the 7 shows are done.”
A day rolls by
Then he messages me “Hey lil cuz, im sorry about that. We didn’t finalize anything thats why I kept saying we are still working on everything. You’re first in my list but I have to see what the artist is feeling first. By the end of today i will have a for sure answer for you on everything.”
At this point I was scared shitless, stressed out of my mind,
I say “Oh okay. It’s just with this job I can’t do anything at all unless things are set in stone and it’s killing me not only musically but mentally. I know things were in the air but I’m just ready is all.”
He says “Ok cool. I got you! Im gonna do my best to make sure you roll with us. And as far as your job, keep pressing!! I know that feeling!!!! It will all get better”
I replied jokingly but seriously “I mean hell I’ll be a drum tech”
He says “don’t sell yourself short like that you’re too good to be a drum tech”
I’m thinking “I’m not I just wanna get a good paying gig and out the country again” but I said
“Well i know I would make a great tech too I know drums in and out. Lol”
Anywho he asks for clips of me drumming and I email him a few clips of me playing.
No response for a day then I send a message saying “I guess it’s a no? Lol” just because I’ve been told no that way for years.
he told me “we will decide today we had to reschedule”
2 days later
I have a conversation about how much of a struggle it is to get people to a local show but when your band is opening for a major act tons of people that supposed to be your friend come out and ask for hook ups.
Then I ask “any word on the shows?”
He says “Yes, we just decided we aren’t taking a band from here. We are going to use the band there”
At this point I’m very disappointed but I don’t feel anything, I guess I would be very numb
So I kinda gave a numb response Saying “Oh word.Cool. Keep me posted on anymore gigs gotta put these 10 years [of my passport] to good use lol.”
He said “lol you got it” then I said “I’m serious lol” and he said “I know”

Now I’m up…sitting in a chair trying to console myself saying “it’s alright, just gotta keep going” I tried to distract myself by listening to music, eating some food because it was already late.
The news of me not getting the gig didn’t hit me until I got into bed and man the feeling of not being good enough hit me like a wall of fucking bricks.
I was on the verge of tears the entire night, I talked to my ex (we’re on good terms don’t worry) about what happened. He tried to help but it didn’t help at all…
I’m now even questioning like “am I good enough to get a gig that pays more than $150-300? a show” Hell am I good enough for anything?
I see all my friends my age and younger backing these major artists and I’m just here living with my parents,paying them rent, working a shitty part time job to get a car and a license….like why am i always behind EVERYTHING!?
I did NOT sleep well last night and I don’t think ill sleep well for a few days.

Posted 10 years agoSo as some of you guys know I do work part time at a computer store. I've been working there for almost 2 years now (Dec.28th 2015 will mark 2 years)
Now....don't get me wrong I like working there as well as networking with other musicians and DJ's who come through, 80% the customers are nice and the discounts are and the fact I get to sell "Protection plans" to make extra money (I only get 10%) is cool too but there are TONS of gripes I have with working there
Unpredictable schedules: One shift I'm opening the store at 9:30am next day I'm closing the store and then opening the next day and then working a mid day shift while the managers know I am a working musician first but they try to be as flexible as possible.
AOR (areas of responsibility) Employees are given "Areas of Responsibility" to keep clean and gets a grade every week by a manager. If they fail their AOR twice they get written up. The reason why this is a gripe with me is because the store can get so busy that there is LITERALLY NO TIME for AOR's especially if you get moved to the customer service desk to handle returns and exchanges and your AOR is on the other side of the store.
Which leads me to my next point, DROPPING EVERYTHING FOR THE CUSTOMER: Yeah when a customer stands in line "YOU GOT SOME ONE IN LINE RING THEM UP NOW" and then minutes to hours later from ringing up a rush of customers you hear "WHY ISN'T THIS DONE?!"
Having to notify management at least 2 weeks ahead of time if you have ANYTHING planned at all. For me gigs can pop up at anytime and I've missed out on plenty of well paying gigs because of this job's policy. Well I did lie a couple times by calling out but I mean when you can pay rent and all your bills with one gig its kinda hard to pass up lol.
Being monitored on transaction times and signing up customers for "VIP benefits...the overall checkout process: IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASS FOR THE CUSTOMER AND EMPLOYEE. A LOT of customers just want to pay for their stuff and go. its one thing to ask a customer to get a protection plan but it's one thing to ask them a shit ton of questions like "Have you shopped here before? if so push 'I'm already a member' on the pad please then..." and heres the cherry on top...THE ENTIRE TRANSACTION HAS TO BE DONE IN AT LEAST 2 minutes! also if your percentage is lower than 75% you risk getting written up. This process constantly creates lines too
EMPLOYEE SHORTAGE: Yes the store can't seem to keep employees especially cashiers, I'm the "senior cashier" and I've only been working there for a year. That should say A LOT.
Now the job thats being offered to me is ANOTHER cashier job but hopefully it'll pay more because I have a friend who works there.
He told me its less stress,less drama and more chill there my concern is I made a lot of great connections through the customers at the other store, also I have other reasons why I'm not really feeling the idea but also I just don't want to be stuck there doing nothing I kinda like being very hands on I don't like sitting doing nothing but at the same time I don't like being put under a microscope.
Also if I got hired I would be the ONLY cashier there. Also the uniform kinda sucks a red button up with black pants?
I'm sorry I like to be stylish with whatever uniform I wear, like at least I can make myself stand out at my current job by wearing saddle shoes and a bowtie within the store's color scheme (Light Blue,Brown(Khakis),White,Black) for example.
also if I get hired I would be fucking my current job over...I Don't like fucking people over....

Posted 10 years agoSo on the morning of Oct. 19th I woke up to take a shower and normally when I take a shower I like to connect my phone to my bluetooth speaker so I put my phone inside of the shirt I'm gonna wear for work.
When I get out the shower and put on my shirt. I FORGOT MY PHONE WAS INSIDE MY SHIRT. When I picked up my shirt, my phone flew into the toilet.
I rushed to dry it off.
Heres what I WISH KNEW what to do but I didn't do.

TURN OFF THE PHONE
Rushed to plug it into my laptop to hopefully back it up while the insides were still wet
I DID however
Put it in rice
arrived to work and bought a Kesington Evap bag
Luckilly the following day I had the day off
Most of my contacts,notes and music was backed up...My photos however (From Eurofurence inclueded) didn't get backed up -_-
I recovered what I could until the phone just started to turn itself on and off.
Believe me I am not happy but it could've been worse.

Flew across the pond to Berlin

Long story short a few weeks ago foxamoore texted me asking if I had my passport and I told him I was actually in the middle of going through the process.
Then he asked me if I could perform in Berlin for eurofurence. I couldn't refuse especially since everything would be covered :3
So 2 weeks later I headed to philly went through the process there and spent the day at the agency and got my passport at the end of the day!
Now I'm here chilling with some friends at Eurofurence having a time of my life! So if you're at Eurofurence don't hesitate to say hello!

BDAY THANKS/work drama/Giving up the family dog/Bittersweet
Posted 10 years agoFirst of all thanks for wishing me a happy birthday! It meant a lot to me! X3 I had a great time. I spent most of my weekend with my close friends

blanclaw for my birthday,we went out to get Korean BBQ (the waiters there...hnnnggggggg) and they even got me a slice of Red Velvet cake X3 they really made my birthday weekend special! I haven't had that much fun for my birthday in a while X3c.
Then on that monday I had a gig but it was still somewhat a birthday party so I had a blast but it all started to get bitter after the gig...first starting with the venue disrespecting the band throwing shit our way like "You have to pay the band tab" and they fucking charged us for sodas...smh....then the band leader mentioned how he paid everyone in the band but himself.
The band already packed their gear and left. So guess who picked up the tab...Me....
Skip later to April 1st.
It's my dad's birthday...I wake up to hear my dad getting off the phone with some of his bosses and he tells me he got suspended off his job
My dad is a mechanic at the U.S. Gypsum in Baltimore.
Whenever my dad's job offers overtime he always takes it and he's been working at the same job for the past 20+ years.
He told me every 2 hours the job allows him a 10-15 minute break, and he normally goes into a different room instead of the breakroom because it's quieter.
one of his supervisors asked "What are you doing" he said "I'm taking a break because it's been 2 hours" then the next day a different supervisor told my dad "I need to see you" and asked "Why were you taking a unauthorized break and why weren't you in the break room?" my dad explained himself.
Now on April 1st he got a call and a 3rd supervisor said "So,I thought everything would be alright until I looked into the records and saw this same report happened 6 years ago (Taking a "unauthorized" break not being in the breakroom) . I'm gonna have to report this to the plant manager"
While this was going that first supervisor (who has been a supervisor for like a year now) she went on and supposedly reported my dad and it got blown out of proportion to the point my dad got suspended for the week WITHOUT PAY because the plant manager is out on vacation until this coming monday.
KEEP IN MIND my dad is ALWAYS on Overtime and WAS on a overtime shift.
My dad is still worried he might get fired...personally I feel this young supervisor who is doing everything by the book and has fired a lot of loyal employees because of her strictness
THEN the 2nd situation that happened on the SAME DAY....
But first heres a backstory:
Back on last August I was loading my drums for a gig at a college, my german shepherd, cherish busts out the house to but I didn’t see her because I was so focused on getting my gear loaded into my friend’s truck. I only notice because he tells me my dog got out.
This is what I saw: Cherish sees another dog and runs up to it, wanting to play with it.
The Dog’s owner freaks out and picks up his dog (it’s a toy breed dog), and then as I finish loading up the gear, I apologize to the guy but he ends up cussing me out after I ask if he was okay by saying “No I’m not okay,you need to put your dog on a damn leash” and then also added Cherish bit him….I recorded the conversation but couldn’t use it in court as evidence because he didn’t know I was recording him.
Now…knowing people like him….if he REALLY got bit he would be making a bigger scene so I asked the guy “Where did you get bit at and can I see the bite?” he said “Are you a doctor?” and then told me no.
THEN a few months later we got a knock on the door…the ASPCA took cherish away because of a report of a “Dangerous dog” and we were fined over $700 at the time. Of course we said we were gonna appeal. then a few weeks later the guy that reported my family CHANGED THE REPORT and now the fine raised up to over $1000.
Whats funny is the cops that took Cherish away from my family were shocked on how calm she was and how she practically went into the cop vehicle without hesitation.
Skip forward to March of this year to the court case. The man was lying saying where he got bit,called me and my witness liars, and called my dog vicious and dangerous and then tried to come with proof but he only had medical bills no doctor notes….no doctor note saying “This guy has been bit” so the court threw out his attempt of proof.
What made the case challenging was the court bought up complaints from 6-9 years ago about violations past dogs my family owned (that are now deceased) which were small violations like my old dog barking and scaring a neighbor, or fear of my dog jumping over the fence, or my dog getting out of the yard and playing with other dogs because black folk either hate or love dogs…most hate dogs.
So with all that said on April 1st, the court decision letter came in telling us pretty much “You can get your dog after she has been spayed, and after you install a 6ft tall fence around your entire yard within 45 days and pay the $1150.00 fine within 30 days”
With all that said, yesterday my mom decided to give Cherish up to the ASPCA because we can't afford to keep her because if we do we would have to spend near $6000 we don't have to keep her plus if we decide to take her outside anywhere she would have to be muzzled.
Am I hurting? yes...but my family and I have no other choice....we're barely getting by. I work a part time job and help with as much of the bills I can but this situation just hit us hard.
but to make things better
rapture- being the awesome bro he is to me helped me get tickets to go see Stevie Wonder with my dad. My dad and I are huge Stevie Wonder fans....like Stevie is a HUGE influence on me musically not only as a drummer but as a musician.

I haven't had that much fun for my birthday in a while X3c. Then on that monday I had a gig but it was still somewhat a birthday party so I had a blast but it all started to get bitter after the gig...first starting with the venue disrespecting the band throwing shit our way like "You have to pay the band tab" and they fucking charged us for sodas...smh....then the band leader mentioned how he paid everyone in the band but himself.
The band already packed their gear and left. So guess who picked up the tab...Me....

Posted 11 years agoWell my older brother (Not Ian,my IRL brother) and I agreed we would be sending my folks to California (the plan was originally Hawaii or the Virgin Islands) for their 25th wedding anniversary in October (Oct.17)
I'm still calculating the wages but every pay check I'm gonna put $50 of it aside.
But I need to calculate how much everything would cost (Flight,Hotel,Spending money)
If you guys want to help, you could help by either commissioning me as a drummer for any of your songs and I'm also planning to start a "Go fund me"
The reason why I'm doing this is because my parents never had a honeymoon,nor a proper wedding (They got Married in a Courthouse in 1990 and I was born a few months later) ...so yes on their 30th anniversary I do wanna plan their first wedding.

Im so pissed right now that i don't know what to do with myself....HOW IN THE FUCK did they fall behind like that?
I only pitch in like $300 a month for "rent" but I'm looking to move out....I hate to say it but I want to be able to keep track of my OWN budget and bills...
It's pretty apparent my folks spending habits aren't the greatest....
Im so pissed right now that i don't know what to do with myself....HOW IN THE FUCK did they fall behind like that?

-I am open to any genre excluding metal and it's subgenres (until I get a double pedal and decent at playing blast beats for a long period of time)
Since I do lack time due to gigging and having a day job I'll open 2 slots per option.

"HI-FI STEREO"- This option is great if you want to save money and time from EQing drums I'll EQ the drums to your liking and send out a stereo mix to you in the format of your choice of either MP3 or WAV
"I'm Gonna need that Guy's leg" -I'll admit This is where things get a bit more pricy but you'll get the stereo drum track with your composition,and stereo drum track by itself and I will send you a folder of the isolated drum channels (Kick,Snare,Toms,Overheads) UNPROCESSED/UN EQ'D in a WAV format.
