Yeah... not getting nearly enough rest. I was just ill like three weeks ago and now I'm ill again. I guess I have to cut it out with the 2 AM walks through the cold. I used to be able to handle it... I guess my body, being healthier now, is just not so resistant to the winter.

I need to be more careful. So for now, I'll drink my Keemun (really shitty Keemun, actually... a black tea from china) with crushed lemon and honey and then go to my appointment today. Do my assignment for class, go to class, and then give it to the guy and go back home for some rest.

I think this Keemun was kept in a non-airtight container. And it's kinda old. The guys at Nicholas Coffee don't know what they're doing with tea! Oh well.

But inside, I'm in a dark void. Not darkness that is scary or sad, but darkness that is infinite. Simply a lack of surrounding. Where am I?

I want to sit and listen to this void and listen to what it whispers. So much has changed. There's another being that fell into a crack in my hull, perfectly shaped. Now, I always feel that presence. One of the most beautiful moments in my life was the very moment my aircraft lifted from the asphalt in Las Vegas. The flight to bring me here. My headphones were on me and I was listening to "Breaking Out" by the Protomen. The flight attendants didn't bitch at me, so... My aircraft was taxiing at the start of the song.

So I'm six days away from going to school and I just found out nobody can cosign on one of my loans because nobody has been working steadily for the past two years or has some kind of credit problem. I'm still going to Pittsburgh for the October quarter and nothing will prevent this from happening. There is no other way.

On another note, right now I feel extremely defensive. I do not understand why. I feel like I'm holding a very large, rectangular tower shield made of shiny steel! A white heart emblem is emblazoned across the front of the shield.

Alright guys, I'm out of here. I've gotten a haircut! Walked back to the house and felt stronger laps of fall blow over me. Every time I feel it, I know it's time for me to go. And now I am. Realized it this morning and started laughing hysterically! Because I'm finally leaving! After all this time. Finally. For me, this nightmare is over. This basement will now become part of my past.

Saturday morning, I'll fly back to Las Vegas and I'll be there until October. Then, I'll fly to Pittsburgh and begin my new life!

So I think this nightmare is finally over. At least, this last portion of it. I'm finally leaving...

I'll be going back to Nevada in a week or so. I'll spend some time there, and then I'll be saying goodbye once again to go to Pittsburgh to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Entertainment Design.

Strange, I know. I visited Pittsburgh for a week and a half. Came back a few days ago! I investigated the school and was enthralled by the huge machine shop they have on the upper level and by the technical drawings that permeate the building. A room full of people just like me building beautiful animatronic masks, asking about my goggles and watch. It was so great to see that all of this is within reach for me. I knew it was right. I couldn't pass it up.

So... I signed up right there and I'll be attending at the start of October. Exactly two years since I attended the Art Institute of Las Vegas. I remember writing the admissions essay for Vegas and my dad asking me to redo it because it was done halfheartedly. I just was trying to say what they wanted to hear. This time, I did the essay right in the room with the employee I was working with. She left the room, and all I had to do was type everything I was already thinking... I was done in six minutes. She was surprised. I asked her to read it to make sure it was good, and she said it was perfect!

After all of this, I have more drive than I've ever had. I know I can do a great job, and I will. I'll be living in the dorms a semester at least, but I'll find a job as soon as possible.

On the trip to Pittsburgh, I experienced tons of new feelings, too. Suddenly, I feel like a guardian angel. Everything changed, and I feel like I see the first glint of light in a long time. I really think this is going to work out. Nothing will stop me.

Well, here it is. The moment when I realize that everything has really changed its hue.

Over a pot of dark pu-erh palace lingers a lovely aroma. It's like espresso. So strong, but really smooth. The taste stays on my tongue. A very different tea. For right now, this pot is my true transition.

I've stood in front of the mirror through the bathroom door and adorned myself with every button down shirt I have only to find that they're all far too large. When I came here, I wore a 2XLT. Now my XLTs are too large. I got rid of all of those shirts. A few days ago, I removed tons of shirts and other articles of clothing from my wardrobe, and now all of my clothes seriously fit inside one suitcase. I want to keep it this way. One in, one out, as they say. It's really a great rule to go by.

"Restless hearts..."

I walked upstairs with a cup of the dark pu-erh and met with my aunt and mom preparing to go to mom's hyperbaric treatment and blood transfusion. I was wearing a light tan XLT shirt with stripes, showed them how big the shirt was. Emptied the pot I had left on the stove; the pot that was filled with green tea leaves and water. I removed my new Kyusu teapot. This was the end of the seasoning process, and I put it out to dry. I walked my mom outside and noticed the glint of light shining from my aunt's hybrid Toyota shining through the morning's haze. I hugged mom and she sat in the car. When my mom and aunt left, I sat outside and finished my tea in the misty morning.

I know I'm going home. I've been getting rid of clothes and objects so I am not taking as much with me when I head back to Las Vegas. I'm scared. When I went to visit in March of 2008, my mom's kidneys failed. Upon my return, I found her so ill. I scrubbed her blood from the tile grout, the fixtures, the shower, and the toilet in the restroom down here. Alone. I'm so scared of leaving my mom here, but I also have to realize that things aren't as imminent now. Mom wants me to do what I need to do for myself. I think I can help her more if I am more independent anyway.

Every time I wanted to leave, something held me here. This time, I know it won't... My best friend in the world, Macen Gregora, waits for me at home. My father. All the people who love me. I sure hope my dad and I get along. I do love him very much. That's why I want things to work out.

Since I've been here, I've learned much. I've seen so much. I've met incredible people. I'm going to shout to all of them right now.

Kivva. You drove six hours from Maine to come and be with me when my mom was ill... That's big. That's really, really big. I hope you know how much that meant to me. Talking to you is always a pleasure and you make me feel amazing and drive the darkness away. You've trusted me and given me the benefit of the doubt and listened to me, and I've done the best I can to return the favor. Your visit here is literally the most colorful memory of my time here that I have, and I will remember it for the rest of my life. Thank you so much. I'm so glad you're happy. I'm so glad you've found someone you love, and I'm so glad you can live with him. You deserve all the good in the world and I hope I know you for the rest of my life. I love you very much and you're literally the most incredible girl I've ever met.

My birthday is on Friday..! Gonna be twenty. I asked my family to pretty much ignore it. Bought some inexpensive microtools from countycomm after asking my mom. That's my gift.
