So, of course when I try to put the pedal to the metal, my joints have to act up. Tendonitis in my wrist is agonizing both physically and mentally when all I want to do is write and draw. I even got myself a new desktop computer so I can learn to use my drawing tablet with it and have an alternate for writing on and keeping my work safely saved to a second local location (or third, since I keep it all also on a thumb drive). Every time I start to surge ahead, my body or brain betrays me.
I'm trying my best to rest it, but you know how it is.
Patreon and Ream are both chugging away. I have to write a Dangly Bits piece this week featuring Orm and Khalon.
I found a binder full of drawings from a few years ago, so I may post those as WIPs and colour them for the subscription members.

It's been a very long time coming, and my journey has been complicated by mental health, loss of loved ones including two of my cats, which devasted me, and a stroke last September. I don't deal well with stress, you might say.
In any case, after much wrangling, rewriting, and revision, our first trilogy is nearing publication. While I prepare the final edits, covers, and whatnot (insert marketing jargon here), we (myself as Heather Hallow and my wife as Phrixion) are releasing our chapters weekly to subscribers, with the opportunity to get first dibs on e-books, new artwork, and merch of all kinds. The last few years have been incredibly rough for me, and while it wasn't fun to lose my mom, my cats Noosh and Parsa, and now also to have lost the treasured necklace my wife gave me 15 years ago, I've done a lot of self-reflection. Oh yeah, and I had a stroke in September 2022. And vestibular neuritis, which affects my vision and balance and all that fun stuff. I've been feeling very mortal, to say the least. It's sparked a lot of changes to my life, one of which is the realization that I'd rather be around than not. And that if I want to accomplish all my goals, I need to get the F! on it! Which is not to say that I've licked my CPTSD, anxiety, and depression. Not at all, but at least I'm fighting back as best I can. Writing is a joy, when I allow it to be, and I've been missing creating my artwork so much. It's going to be a process to get back into it, but I will, you better believe it.

So, with that in mind I've been working like a beast on the stories I write with my wife, and plan to publish this year under Lupercalia Books (our imprint). While those are being prepared, I will be starting up a new subscription where you can read along with my WIP chapters prior to publication, get bonus scenes and 'what really happened' scenes, artwork, merch, and more. Because life's too short to wait, yeah? Details to come, since the platform is slowly being rolled out right now specifically to cater to writers who like it super spicy!

In the next few weeks I'll upload Chapter 1 of Struck by You, the first book in the Lupercalia: TCR series right here on FA. The book is currently in final revisions, as is book 2, and book 3 is half done the first draft. So you know the trilogy is on the way because it's nearly done. I'm going to be working on the covers as well, so I better get my art up to snuff. Yikes!

Anyhow, thanks for your patience with my descent and travels through hell. But all I want to do before I really do die is to create. And to be able to be with my wife again, either here in Canada, or in Iowa if need be. But I'd rather be here than there, to be honest. Universal healthcare matters, folks.

I guess you could say I've been up to the same as before. Still making ATCs and ACEOs, working on The Lupercalia Company, and writing our stories. I've been having a hard time with anxiety due to something that happened to me, that I have to testify about in court. The pre-trial was bad enough. Ugh. It's hard enough talking about it, but then the defense lawyer comes and starts going on about how he thinks you wanted it to happen, that it's your fault, that you asked for it to happen... Etc. And etc. It's beyond horrifying, and I'm having a hard time dealing. I really am, and that's the first time I've said it aloud outside of to my spouse and best friend. The anxiety is bad enough that I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job, too. So that just makes it worse.

Anyhow, enough of all that. I've got some projects going up for sale. I'll post links with the pix. I'm hoping to catch up my bills so that if I do lose my job in the next couple weeks, maybe I'll be okay for a bit. I've got all sorts of paper dolls (pre-made, digital downloads, and commissions available), which I'll show here shortly, and some ACEOs of merpeople.

The first book of our Lupercalia stories is coming along! It's the story of Cali first dealing with being a lycanthrope, among other things. Cali is the black cat furry in my gallery. He's a porn star and entrepreneur. And he gets to meet the vampire love of his life! Awww...

I've been working hard on starting some online endeavors, so my site presence here and at DA has been less than minimal. But I have been creating a lot of art and other things, and I will share them here as much as possible. There are lots of ATCs/ACEOs, and I've been making mini albums and a new Sharing Kitties project. All this on top of working on our stories, which will be released on Amazon when we're ready. So sorry to have to be in this position again, but for those of you who remember, Parsa’s sister Poet is now suffering from the same wet uterine infection that nearly took Parsa from us last year.

To make matters worse, I was cut from full to part time hours since last October, and we have been just surviving, hoping to return to full time eventually and picking up opportunities here and there. So there is no money for us to get Poet’s surgery. We call her Noosh as a nickname, by the way, hence the title of the post.

Anyhow, we need to raise at least $500, super-fast! This is the best price the cat rescue can help us with.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've been over here. Sorry for not poking in sooner. I've been doing a lot of art, but most of it isn't furry. I'll have to look through my records and post up anything that's suitable to show over here.

I've been doing a lot of sewing--journal covers and a bag, all made of Teesha Moore-style patches. I've done swaps with zombie, vampire, and gypsy themes, and I'm working on a tarot deck or ten. I've been a busy kitty.

Sept 24th I'm organizing and showing in a pagan craft bazaar so a lot of my time will be spent getting that ready.

I've also had a very sick year, as in missing a LOT of work due to illness, so it's been rough. My wife, Phrixy, had to go back to her parents' place for the summer to work so that we can put in her residency application. It's been very hard for me being here alone, but we're in the last month of the ordeal soon, and I expect her back at the end of August.

What else? We've just been arting and writing, mostly.

What it is: GoddessCraft Bazaar is a pagan-centered craft bazaar created to provide a showcase and sales arena for local pagan artisans and craftspeople. Tables are reasonably priced, and are discounted with the donation of a crafted item to the WCC Yule Auction or to the raffle basket at the bazaar itself. Most of the proceeds will be donated to the WCC for rent, a portion being retained to start a pagan crafting program for the community to begin this winter.

My last journal was so old, it was making me self-conscious. lol

Anyhow, I've been doing a lot of ATCs, chunky pages and such for swaps, not that much of my own work, really. Just a few sketches here and there. Most notably though, would be my Forest King book, which I'm disgustingly proud of. I'm going to be doing more of those, especially since I have a better feel for what I'm doing now. I just love that book! I'm debating selling it on eBay, since my recent sickness has really screwed our finances up. If anyone wants to make an offer in the meantime, I'll consider it.

During my illness I fell in love with Sons of Anarchy. Watched the whole 2 seasons almost back to back while I was sewing that book together. It was awesome. Now we're onto the Dresden Files.

I was all set to work on my website today but for some reason my connection just won't go there. Good intentions and the road to hell, and all that. *sigh* Very disappointing. So I'll try updating around here instead. You can expect a new commission structure and pricing. I'll be treating myself like the professional I am from now on when it comes to commissions. My time is just as valuable as the mechanic and cashier, dammit.

I'll be selling lots of bookmarks, both originals and prints, as well as some 4x6" originals and prints of all sorts. In addition to that, I've got some decorative boxes (Some cool ones that hang up, too. They look like picture frames but have secret stash area in the back). I'll be bringing some of my custom plushies, both to show and sell, some pendants with keychain or necklace options, and a buttload of ATC/ACEO sized prints. I've got some versions of my furry paper dolls ready to go (all males just now, but I'll be making some females in the future)--and I can do custom dolls on the spot. I've got for now the leopard male you've seen in the gallery, a cheetah, tiger, wolf, otter, and lion as well. The colours are pretty standard natural ones, but again I'm willing to hand-colour custom ones for an extra charge.

I will be taking orders for commissions of all sorts, including maneki neko paintings of your cat or some other theme, bookmarks (possibly on the spot), art dolls/plush, and more.

Okay, there were no rumours. I'm not interesting enough for rumours. For those who may be curious, I have been quite sick off and on for many months, now laid off completely, and Phrixy's application for residency is at a standstill due to lack of further funds. In short, we don't have the money for rent in a few days or the meds I'm supposed to refill tomorrow.

Despite that on my mind, I do have some time now and feel well enough to plug ahead on some things. I actually have several projects for others that need completion, and those patient darlings can look forward to having them in hand or... on screen... soon. There may be some surprises popping up in the gallery. Also, I am tentatively reopening commissions as of this week to try to at least put food on the table. I will be much quicker about it without that pesky work demanding my attention every day. Two weeks turnaround was my usual previously for typical commissions.

Step One
Make a post. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love an icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your post, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Sooo... We had a great time at Anime North this weekend, even though we couldn't get a table. *grumble* We did leave flyers all over the place and had fun at the yaoi panels, sorta. >.> Yamila from Yaoi Press was a riot! And I got to meet Donn from Bishonen House--he has such a cute accent, omg. lol His dolls are even more amazing up close, and heavy, wow. I have such doll lust even worse now that I got to handle them in person. Le sigh. We got this stupid idea to ask people in costume to Caramell Danse for us, courtesy of a certain dragonboy in my head, and omglol we got Vampire Hunter D to do it! Got autographs from the voice actors for Wolfwood and Reno, which... I'd have hated standing in line if not for getting to take some great yaoi ref pix of some cosplayers. hehe So now my back hurts, I'm tired, and more than a little afraid of crowds for awhile.

Good Friday? I don't F&*^ing think so. First of all I'm really sick. One of those head colds that turns your sinuses into a brick. Couldn't take time off work because then I wouldn't qualify for the stat pay for today. Peachy. Yeah. So I got lots of sleep and tried to feel better. All week I've been coming home and just taking a nap to avoid the craziness in the kitchen, and getting dinner later. Today I thought, you know, I have some meat I got on special and I better cook it. That way all I'll have to do is warm it up with whatever I make in the next couple days.

Two of my roommates felt the need to invade the kitchen to cook at the same time. Please keep in mind, no one had to work today. There were no schedules or time limits. But they HAD to get in there during the last fifteen minutes I needed to cook separate things. On the stove, mind you, not even a different area out of the way. So I was nearly done. My plate and kettle of tea were waiting for me to take them upstairs. Just had to wash out the frying pan. Did that. Sat it up on the drying rack and was about to turn around when the one guy poured a whole pot of boiling water over my my hand.

That's right. Boiling. Water. Whole. Pot. Right hand. Once I came to my senses, I flipped on the cold water. So far it isn't blistering, but OMFG it hurts! HURTS!!!!! I'm not going to the hospital to sit there for at least 12 hrs for nothing, so I've been treating it myself. (I don't need first aid advice, just btw, it was hours ago now.)

So the beauty part is this: We have a double sink. That's right. He reached OVER a sink to dump the boiling water on my hand. If you can figure that out, let me know because I still don't get it.

So I'm in pain. PAIN!!! I can only type because the damp cloth is draped over my hand and that still feels like my hand is on fire. I can't lean on the outer edge of it to write or draw or whatever. Can't do my dishes or really take a proper shower which I'm dying for. >.< So much for my long weekend. I was going to spend today churning out work for Phrixion, but not now, oh no. And he's sitting downstairs playing guitar. I want to go beat the living hell out of him with that guitar so he can hurt too for his stupidity. Tomorrow I get to spend 3 hrs on the bus to go up and have dinner with my mom. Yay. That would be the mom who pretends she's not trying to stress me because of my medical condition(s), but who goes out of her way to make me feel like shit. The one who very loudly disapproves of my upcoming marriage to my gf. I have to give out invitations next week, so this should be a blast. Can't wait. Oyes. Coming home Sunday the buses will be on the reduced holiday schedule. How did I get to be so lucky?

I can type, but not much else. Was really hoping for some rp tonight. Dontcha know, no one's around that I normally play with. Everyone decided they need to nap even though I won't see them tomorrow. Everyone. e.e

The day after my birthday, and as usual I don't feel older but I'm acutely feeling all the things I haven't accomplished yet, and the things I've lost or let slip from my grasp. It's incredibly frustrating and depressing. Yet at the same time I have so much I'm looking forward to right now. I feel a bit emotionally unbalanced by it all. Meh. Well at least next year Chels will be here to celebrate with me, and maybe for once I'll have a mate in person who cares enough to do as much for my birthday as I do for them. I feel stupid caring about it at this age, but it matters in ways that have nothing to do with the birthday exactly, and everything to do with feeling important to the other person. See she makes me feel important, it's just that the distance makes it hard on us. So yeah, I came home to a big bouquet of flowers sitting outside my door, and it was wonderful. *melts*

With the advent of Phrixion Publishing, we are looking to do a bit of fundraising and promotion all in one. Those of you who have RPed with us know many of the characters involved in TCR--heck, some of your characters are or could be involved if you like! You're welcome to draw any unlicensed hottie you choose--just remember, this is a *male* strip club setting. ;)

The website is live now! Just visit phrixion-publishing.com to have a look around. Excuse the mess, we're still settling in! The list of characters is on the page marked 'Deadly Beauties,' and though I have yet to link them to their respective character pages, it at least provides a list of names to watch for. Most of our boys are already to be found in one or another of my galleries.

So here it is:
"ShooterBoi" is the name of our upcoming TCR bar recipes book, being published to help raise funds to help get the company launched! It will include risque-sounding recipes for drinks, desserts, and related goodies, perhaps some drinking games. Naturally, since TCR has such a handsome crew, this will be fully illustrated with black and white drawings inside and a colour cover.

What to do...
Entries should consist of a black and white drawing of a suitable character (name them if established/TCR fan art) somehow involved with drinks or bar-type recipes(ie, making a drink, consuming it, posing with a bottle... whatever). Art rating should be about 'R' at most (no graphic sex for this project). Please include a suitable recipe to accompany your entry--preferably with a sexy name. You know... 'Sex on the Beach' and 'Slippery Nipple,' etc. Feel free to have your art go along with the name somehow. 8.5x11" max, 4x5" min.

Winners and Prizes
We will be choosing winners to be included in our bar recipe book, and these will be sent a copy of the published book and an additional merchandise prize, tba. Don't worry, we'll set you up with some nice swag! Grand prize gets the centerfold and potentially the colourized cover. We'll negotiate as appropriate. ;)
Multiple winners (hopefully 3-10), depending upon the number of suitable entries received--and yes, you can win more than once! Multiple prize winners will receive additional merchandise prizes.

Should your image be used in other venues by ourselves, you will also receive a copy of that publication as well. Before the question is asked: No, we do not intend to use the images for anything other than inclusion in ShooterBoi, and the promotion thereof. That means you might see it in our zine, but not on random merchandise you didn't authorize. K? This is a fundraising project for the love of yaoi, not a grab for free art to plunder at will.
