So close
Posted 16 years agoI'm amazed at how many are so eager to get commissions from me right now, I'm having a hard time getting everything done so I can open up more slots. I am working as much as I can to get commissions finished up and moving along, so please be patient with me.
I know I have said this several times now, but I know for certain that I'll finally be in the clear come this weekend, so I can really focus on the arts.
I love octopi, but I needed a change in icons, so the behemoth boi is acting as a stand-in (Thanks Myri) until I can finish a proper one.

Posted 16 years agoYes, It's a day late, but I've been busy.
It's been a great weekend thus far. Had a wonderful time with friends yesterday, went to see Where the Wild Things Are as an early hatchingday present, and had a lovely dinner.
I have been making progress with commissions, but due to the holidays and my hatchingday tomorrow, I have been unable to get the commission sketches scanned. I will make every effort to get this done and these passed to those who are awaiting them before the middle of the week.
If you have not paid at least half by this time, please do so so that I can move along to the next steps as soon as I get an OK from you on the preliminary sketch.
Best wishes to you and those passed before visiting during this time. ;)

Forward ho!
Posted 16 years agoSo, things are finally starting to settle down, and the light at the end of the tunnel is coming quite near now, just a bit longer...
Moving much quicker with commissions, and as a notation to everyone: I will be revising my prices soon, and will be adding in a couple of new types of commissions on the list (i.e. busts, icons, digital, and the like) so expect some changes.
I will be working from now until next spring after work settles down on devising a good way to do masks and other sculpts, so donations to that cause are welcome.
I'm also getting back to my project I planned out last year. It's quite an undertaking, so it will be a while yet. For now, your clue is 95.
There may be something else I should note, but I cannot recall for the time being, so I will add it if I think of it. :P

Open Slots! Get them fast!
Posted 16 years agoI'll be finishing up the last bit of the last commission from the previous set tonight, and loading them up to send to their respective individuals. Thus, I am opening several more slots up to grab.
The prices are as follows:
Sketch - $10
Badge, Colored - $15
Finished/Shaded pencil - $20
Inked - $20
Colored - $45
Subjects beyond first - $5
Background - Dependent on complexity, will be discussed
I withhold the right to modify these prices as needed dependent upon intricacy of work, and other such factors. Please contact me by note, e-mail, or otherwise. While telepathy is great, and may very well get you a quick response, I don't prefer it for commission requests due to my poor memory and slow writing speed.
Payment preferred trough Paypal via amberdragon323[at]yahoo.com Other payment options can be discussed as necessary.
Donations welcome. They make it more likely I will do more variety of media.
***Slots are filled, but I'll certainly do more, so keep your ears open. =3***

draggyI'm using the internets!
Posted 16 years agoSo I'm finally moved, save for one more trip for things, and finally have the internet back for all of my wicked, twisted purposes.
I should have had it last Wednesday, but when I called to verify the scheduling, they had apparently not scheduled a time at all. That's what I get for trusting people to actually do what they are paid to do, I suppose.
I did get a bit of work done during my vacation time, though, and have but one commission to finish, along with the beginning of a questionably decent mask I am working on. What sort of mask? Well, just wait and see. ;)
So for those of you who have a commission from me pending, give me another day or so to get my scanner running again and I will get those to you. I appologize for the long delay in getting them done and to you, but life seems to simply be wrought with delays of late. As a bit of a pre-notice, I will be taking commissions again once I do so, so get some ideas in mind! I may be taking more slots this time than before. ;)

Posted 16 years agoI'm going to be spending the next few days moving, and I will not have internet connected until the middle of next week most likely.
Things seem to be going smoothly for now, so no worries. I should be finishing up the last two commissions once I get everything over there, so don't worry about waiting too much longer for those.
Peace,

Moonlit nights
Posted 16 years agoSo, I really shouldn't be allowed to have access to the internets during the few days around the full moon. I'm likely to do dangerous things.
I am, however, drawing again! Huzzah! Something productive! Still trying to get back into the swing of things, but once I move, I will have a whole room to use as a studio! *dance* *dance* *dance*
Trouble is, I have to move again... Booo.
I've been working on a shoulder-guard for a friend, and will probably post some pictures of it once it's done, even if it's horrible. I've never worked with any of these materials before, but I'm finding I adore paper clay. Have some structural questions I need to address, but it should be... Okay... I hope.
I have finally decided that my next big purchase will be a proper fursuit. Hate to see so many at cons having so much fun and not being able to join in. Just need to find the right person to commission... On that note, I still have two costumes to get to making... At least now I have some good ideas for the mask on one. Just need to get sewing practice.
Of all the nonsense crashing down around me lately, it is finally clearing up and getting better. With a bit more time the wounds should mend and all will be right once again.

Posted 16 years agoQuick update with the status of everything. I've been delayed by a few days from various other plans cropping up and crashing down on me with various issues that need to be take care of, but things are still moving along with the commissions, just slightly delayed.
Plans at present will be to open up for more commissions once I finish this set, so go ahead and get something in mind for when that time comes! It took all of 10 minutes to get these slots filled, so check in regularly, or watch me on Twitter for updates and notices.
http://twitter.com/eyesofindigo
Once I can get all this blasted "life" nonsense under control, I will most likely open up a couple more slots for commissions at a time so more will have a chance to slip in.
Happy 4th to those in the states, hope you all are having a lovely time and lots of good food. I've got a bit of manual labor before I can run off to have a time of it later on. On the up side, though, I am getting some of my furnitures from storage - My huge-normous art desk included. *dance* Finally have a proper place to do some works, so paintings may come in the near-ish future ;)

Commissions Opening!
Posted 16 years agoUpdate: Slots filled! Thank you for your interest, and keep your ears and eyes open for further updates!
So times are busy as usual; between work, friends, and volunteer work, there's not much left for me. However, I have been clearing up time periodically, and am announcing the opening of comissions again. I am going to start with just three slots to see how it goes, so grab them quick!
The prices are as follows:
Sketch - $10
Badge, Colored - $15
Finished pencil - $20
Inked - $20
Colored - $35
Subjects beyond first - $5
Background - Dependant on complexity, will be discussed
I withold the right to modify these prices as needed dependant upon intricacy of work, and other such factors. Please contact me by note, e-mail, or otherwise. While telepathy is great, and may very well get you a quick response, I don't prefer it for comission requests due to my poor memory and slow writing speed.
On another note, were I to make sculpted figures, what size would you prefer? Also, what other sorts of items would you like to see from me? Pendants, masks, tee-shirt designs, tattoos, etc.?

Posted 16 years agoSo, I'm crawling out of a bit of artist block once again, and managed to do a couple rather decent quickies. One cute gypsy vanner boi which I need to touch up a bit before I will consider the linework done. Also have the base of an icon I finally started for myself but my power supply went out on my XP machine, so I'm in a bit of a pickle at present until I can get a new one.
This is also making it very difficult to get work loaded for Air. -.-
Things look to be clearing up though, so woo!
Also, finally making progress on getting my car's body touched up from the bits of damage it has incurred... I'm slow about these things.
Plans are also coming together for a cute little comic between a couple friends and myself in the Steampunk theme, so i do hope to get that started soon so we can get something to show. I want to share the plots so badly, but that would spoil all the fun. D<
Will also be seeing about getting a site up for it for ease of access.
In other news, it isn't looking good for me trying to reach RCFM this year... ;-; I love how a sort of fate hydra rears its heads at the last moment, striking with crushing blows and disrupting plans. Rending one head from your way only exposing more heads to deter you and cause all forms of grief you can imagine.
It's nothing I can't handle, but it still just blows.
To all of you that are going to be at RCFM, best wishes and have lots of fun! I shall have my revenge! Mwahahaha!

Yes! Wait a minute... No
Posted 16 years agoInspired? Try some Sick! Unfixes what drives you!
So here I am, getting some more free time, seeing things pick up in Air, all sorts of inspiration and wonderful things abounding, but twice now in the last month I've caught something and it's getting bothersome.
The desire and drive are there, but I can't focus on a thing. I want to try some things in Photoshop! (I know, that's a strange statement from me.)
Still trying, though. That worth having is worth fighting for.
Thankfully I seem to be on the upswing of it all, so that's "yey" news.
On a side note: Areas of temporal distortion and general dissaray. Yes? No? Thoughts? Bueller?

Spottings
Posted 16 years agoSo yes, I still live in the midst of this tumultuous period. The ever-present screaming of gears in my face - counting away time I didn't exactly have in the first place.
It's a wonder anything is getting done at all, but as sure as certainty can be definite, I've managed a modicum of progress for Air. Onward we toil to beget productivity amidst our busy lives.
You can see the recent status notes on the newly-revamped website here:
www.airsteampunk.com
We also have another project in the making as a bit of a side-piece that should whet the palettes of the curious. I shan't divulge it at present because I am evil like that. Muahah.
In more news of the gaming variety, Phantasy Star Portable is being released come March 3rd...
... I have already maxed my character on the demo and I just obtained it last night. As nonsensical as it is, I actually avoided PSU for some time, though just the designs of the basic aspects of the portable version I have played have me enamored.
As quickly as time is bearing down on me, I want it to speed up and slow down at the same time. Why, yes, I would love to eat the cake as well.

Still life in 'er yet...
Posted 17 years agoWell, while things are usually busy for me with trying to keep up with everyone, October was far more busy than usual. I didn't even manage to get a Halloween picture done, though I may do a late one anyway.
Things certainly aren't through yet, and work is just getting more and more baffling, things are looking up. Gothgoat pointed me to a very promising group assembling what looks to be a very promising project.
.:AIR:.
http://www.airsteampunk.com/?node=Main
Already there are many people on the team that seem quite capable and very skilled, with a solid base to work from. I have just recently gotten news of my own acceptance to work with these talented people to build what has the potential to be a truely inspiring world. Whether you are a fan of Steampunk or adventure, I would suggest keeping an eye on this one.

The Aftermath
Posted 17 years agoThus! Now that I have returned from Dragon*Con and spent some time recovering, I am finally updating here.
First matter of business: DC was Abso-fricking-mazing. Yeah, I don't know either. I got to see Abney Park live at long last. http://www.abneypark.com/
I thought their music was great before, but their show was astounding! Plus, they're fun to talk to. Yes, I actually mustered the nerve to speak to them for a brief exchange. Plus, Nathaniel's violin is soooooo cool. I HAVE to pick up Violin again after hearing him play. It was modded by the amazing "Porkshanks" http://porkshanks.deviantart.com. http://porkshanks.deviantart.com/ar.....iolin-84419380 <--- The beautiful peice.
Plus, MSI had an astounding show. Granted, that was the first time I've been anywhere near a mosh-pit, much less in one. Though, where else will you see a Yautja (Predator) crowd-surf up onto the stage? Aaaah good times.
There were some particularly amazing outfits there this year, among which was an astounding group of steampunk crewmembers. Not to mention I ran into Yaya Han there as well. http://www.angelicstar.net/ How is it that I miss things like this?
Plus I got a brief casual conversation with Gerard Way as one of my companions was an aquaintance of his. Seemed like a fairly down-to-earth guy. Granted, I don't think either of us would have too much reason to talk at much length.
Since then i have been simply recovering and indulging in ravenous inspiration sparked by the Steampunk Ethos. MwahahHAHAHAHA!

Well, i'm quick on the uptake.
Posted 17 years agoApparently FA has come back without my noticing, and I JUST found out >.>
Ah well, c'est la vie.
Lately i've been getting back to my long-time love of Transformers now that there's some good new ones coming out. Namely the Shattered Glass series which I've just recently found out about as well. It's broken my brain in more ways every time I think about it.
As such, I've had to get my claws on some, and have thus far managed to get a Nemesis Prime, and am veeeery giddy now. >3
In other news, I've recently been drawing a little more and found that I can do more with digital coloring than I thought I could in the past (I figured it out as I went in my last picture). As such, I will be doing more of it as patience allows. I still prefer traditional media.
Umm... I've been oddly surprised by Pokemon Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness; It has a much more interesting plot than I had expected. Coming from the "You're a kid. Go get a pokemon and pokedex from that old guy down the street and then get drafted into under-the-table child labor to categorize the world's entire list of fauna and flora while fighting off an organization that wants to rule the world." In all the other games.
Okami is just as good the third time through, and now I have a stick to wave around at the screen while I stare listfully at the living paintings.
Oh! Dragon*Con. I'm going to be there, and having fun this time! I won't go into my last year's events, but let's just say that just because midgets are little, doesn't mean they can't harbor aLOT of trouble and wangst.
That's about it for now, I'm off. Peace, love, and bulletproof marshmallows.

Riddle me this
Posted 17 years agoI was recently presented with this riddle. Told it was supposed to be the hardest riddle in the world, and that 97% of Harvard Graduates don't ever get it, and 80% of kindergardeners get it within the first 6 minutes. The validity of that is questionable, but, so is much on the intarwebs.
I turn polar bears white
and I will make you cry.
I make guys have to pee
and girls comb their hair.
I make celebrities look stupid
and normal people look like celebrities.
I turn pancakes brown
and make your champane bubble.
If you sqeeze me, I'll pop.
If you look at me, you'll pop.
Can you guess this riddle?

Poké is going to evolve
Posted 17 years agoThe Pokémon Company has announced Pokémon 151, a new brand intended for adult Pokémon fans. An official Web site opens Thursday, and Japanese Pokémon Center stores have begun selling four types of stylized T-shirts. In addition, a Diamond and Pearl battle tournament for ages 15 and up will be held at the Tokyo store July 4.

A+ exam? Yeeeah... that's alotta info to cram in my head. I think I can do it, I just really need to really focus.
Spore Creature Creator is addictive as heck, and I'm having a hard time keeping myself from just doing that all day. I mean... who doesn't want to play an omnipotent nameless force that has a twisted sense of humor and gives that little squishy creature arms for eyes?
I'm hesitant about seeing the new Hulk movie, but I'm hearing good things about it actually, so, we'll see. (I'm just not a fan of the Hulk character) Iron Man, on the other hand, has always been a favorite of mine and that movie was just FANtabulous.
I've not figured out why, but at work they're adding another 9-ish programs to the roster for me to support, so I'll have to see how that goes. Looks like I'm in for another fun winter.
... I think I had a culminating point to this journal, but I seem to have forgotten what it is...

Well, my schedule has calmed down, but I'm being swamped with all sorts of unnecessary nonsense. I'm going to be taking commissions again, but I am somewhat tentatively putting them on hold until I can get everything sorted out for good.
Ideally, I will take some time and look over my prices and do a little revision, see what they look like. For now though, they're still valid so if you want something, pass me word. It will likely be at least a couple weeks before I can really get on anything if you do send in a request.
I may seem like a hermit right now, but 'tis not entirely true. It's all a wonderful mixture of life, tired, and bleh. Not very nutritious.
~~~~~~~~~~RCFM!!~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a lighter note, though, I shall be attending RCFM this weekend, so if you're there say hi or something. I may even do some trades or something of the like. I hope I have the energy by then. X.x
Movies
Iron Man was OHMAGAWD!! I want a power suit so badly now...
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was awesome too. Hurrah for more screen time for the centaurs and minotaurs! My favorite though was Reepicheep. He's just cool. Not to mention he has such a great name.
~Best wishes~
Style Questionaire
Posted 17 years agoI liked this meme, and thought I would toss it up too.
Just recently got around to going through and responding to others' meme since I've been busy this week. Sorry for the late! *bow*
Snagged from
cougr
1. Do I have a distinct style of drawing?
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
4. Is there anything I really need to improve on or change?
5. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
6. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
7. What do you think I suck at?
Lemme know what you think. Be brutal.
Success! Mwahah
Posted 17 years agoWell, i did it. I made it all the way through tax season at my tech support-type job. I really questioned whether I had the capability to get through it at the beginning, seeing as I'm only somewhat knowledgeable in the intricacies of computer systems. I stuck to it and gave it my best, and made it through all the cuts and cannings. It's all down to the last cut since it's sounding like they can't hire too many on full-time this year. I might actually have a chance though! >3
What all this means is that I finally will be having some free time again and can really get back to working on my pieces I've been wanting to and get un-rusty with my artificationing. Assuming I can pull myself away from Monster Hunter, Brawl, FFXI (Yeah, again), or the brand-new Okami for the Wii~ (Which I really need to go grab a copy of).
Upcoming projects:
??? ?? ????? - Stuff
?? ????? - Other stuff
??????? ???? - Animation?! Psha
Sleep would probably be advised
Posted 17 years agoYeah, here it is 5:30 AM and i'm still up listening to an Utada Hikaru album I haven't heard before and I come across
thumbclawz's dialect/linguistics Meme. Interesting as it is, I am more compelled by a lack of sleep to do it I think.
Language localisms: I live in the coastal southeast territory known as Georgia, so there are more butcherings of pronunciations than I can count - and I can count quite high... I'm just lazy. Things range from A number of people like to be brash and refer to the bathroom as a "crapper", Most will substitute "Coke" for any carbonated beverage. This leads to much annoyance when trying to be nice and get them a drink. "Ya'll" - the contraction of "you all" is rampant as children's cavities halfway through November.
The list could go on, but I am weary and my mind is refusing to accommodate me with more examples of the local idioms of speech. Basically, assume the steriotypical southern slang, replace some with vally-girls, and throw in a touch of spanglish. Good times.
Now with more MEME!!
S-S-SPECIES SWAP!
If your fursona/avatar:
was:
a general airborne species: Spotted Bat
a general aquatic species: Octopus
a general invertebrate: Goo
an amphibian: Fire Salamander
a bird: Owl maybe Snowy?
a canine: Keeshond
a caniform carnivore: Hyena or Fox
a dinosaur: Parasauralophus
a feliform carnivore (excluding felines): Ocelot
a feline: Snow Leopard
an insect/arachnid: Moth
a primate: N/A
a reptile: Skink or Gecko
a rodent or lagomorph: Woodland Jumping Mouse
an ungulate: Zebra
a mammal in a group not listed above: Pangolin =3
Try picking (at least) 3 of these choices and sketch them out, keeping your character recognizable. Then you can see what they look like as another species that you may not have considered before. The results may be surprising
Well, I've already drawn at least one of those combinations... I do love trying new things though ;)
Restoration
Posted 17 years agoFinally got a new switcher for my computer. and can thus I can get pictures scanned and share them again.
Actually had to beat my hardware to make it work. Go figure.
Just recently got Crisis Core, and I'm really liking the action setup for it. I was questioning the slot-reel thing but it's turned out to keep things going and let you do some really crazy things.
Not to mention Zack is just cool.
On another note, I recently came across Utada Hikaru's song "Stay Gold" and found it set to an amazing animation with a whispy female figure flying through the air, but it has subsequently been removed from viewing on YouTube and I cannot seem to find out where it was from, who did it, or find it again. Anyone happen to have seen or heard of it?
EDIT: Also, since I have my scanner operational now, I can finish those sketches I promised people.
