Be warned that my email address is buggered...
Posted 3 weeks agoCannot get yahoo to work, so my old email address is fucked up and no longer functioning.
For the moment, the only reliable contact for me is right here.
I'm sure I can fix things eventually- but for the moment, its all a shit show.
I'm tired of fucking with it at the moment.

Should mention...
Posted a month agoI am in no danger of self harm at this time.
I'm feeling down and a bit defeated by life...
But no where near suicidal.
Just a little depressed and tired in my soul.
I am trying to generate some creative spark.
I feel like I need some rest...but that the spark is only low.
Not gone out of my life.
I am watching youtube vids that cheer me up, reading books that lift my spirits.
The spark is dimmed...not out.
I need a heroic quest.
When things are like this, I remember the words of Wally Ut.
"You need to harbor the light- not condemn the darkness."
I need to find my Excalibur....
It makes more sense if you read the comic book MAGE.
I'm not done yet in this life.
I still have much work to do.

I could use some words of cheer.
Posted a month agoLife has been kind of rough lately.
I could use a few words of encouragement.
I hate sounding like a damned broken record.
But its been hard to hold my head up and keep mushing on.
Depression is a rotten bitch...and shes been sitting on me heavily.
Its getting increasingly hard to get out of the house and just look up at the sky.
The problem is partly medical- legs are stiff and swollen.
I'm just not getting enough exercise.
I still matter, don't I?

I would not be allowed to donate organs
Posted a month agoI take medications that make my tissues unsuitable for organ donation.
I'm not even sure I'd be allowed to donate my corneas.
I'm a little emotionally wrecked at the moment.
Please don't ask- lost someone you wouldn't know a couple days ago, and I can't talk about it.
(Not someone who was ever in furry fandom.)
Just found out a few hours ago.
And I couldn't have helped.

Sorry to anyone who wanted to see me this weekend..
Posted a month agoJust too sick to go out to a con.
I'm starting to improve...but I have zero energy, and I'm still feeling lousy.
So I felt it best to just stay home and try to get better.

Furry con this weekend?
Posted a month agohttps://furrycons.com/event/25548/a.....furry-con-2025
I may not be going unless my health improves.
Whatever I have at the moment, Ken has shown no signs of it.
Its actually possible that its my general health rather than any kind of disease.
At which point I am not contagious in any way...Just too sick to go out.
We'll just have to see if I feel better over the coming week.

Enjoy every sandwich.
Posted 2 months agoThat was the last advice Warren Zevon left with us, and its good advice.
Life has been kicking me hard lately.
Old friends passing away.
So much of what I care about gone or faded away.
Enjoy the little things.
The big ones don't last.
Keep me in your heart for a while.

Hug your friends and hold them close....

Its left me sad and remembering the good times.
Hold those you love close and tell them you love them.

I have a need...
Posted 4 months agoI have a terrible need...
A shirt with a badger theme.
Preferably something fierce.
Something wrapped in armor.
With a sword.
Something that suggests no fear- only righteous and mighty wrath.
But what?

I'm still alive!
Posted 5 months agoYou failed to kill me again....
Posted 5 months agoFate, this is getting old fast.
Just back from he hospital again.
I woke up in my own bed at home, my legs wouldn't hold any weight and I could not get up.
So another ambulance ride.
After a day or two, I was able to rise and walk again.
Now once again, I am home.
Lets see if I can stay for a while.
I am listening to Leslie Fish and appreciating being alive.

Not entirey dead...
Posted 5 months agoI just got home from the hospital.
Short version-
Nasty fall and had to have hip replacement surgery.
Been in hospice care for a month.
I'm home now.
Not feeling like being up long, so this will be a short post just to let those who care know I am alive.
Takes more than shattering and replacing a hip joint to kill a badger...

Long night..
Posted 10 months agoNew music just discovered.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQI.....EDkPz_4WkwIzjm
Spent all night cursing my busted auto prime hand press.
Had to prime 200 45 colt hulls by hand loading all the primers, one at a time.
Kind of defeats the purpose of an automatic feeding primer, you know?
Well...They are done now and and I can finally charge the cases and ram bullets.
All my reloading gear is single stage, simple press.
So it takes forever.
Which is why I usually only do 50 rounds at a time.
Well...
I'm going to go sleep before I do anymore crap with this.
But if I want to go test fire my new rifle, I got to have cartridges, right?
Got plenty of reloading components, slowly acquired over the course of literally years.
And not one damned round of loaded ammo in the house.
So I have to motivate my lazy ass and make some.

oh my god..the rust.
Posted 10 months agoRecently, I came into possession of a lever action rifle.
An Armi sport/Chiappa/Taylors and company Winchester 1892 takedown rifle.
Going in, I knew there was some rust.
The pics in the auction somehow didn't quite give a great idea of how bad the rust was.
A few spots along the barrel.
A little speckling ere and there.
frankly, it looked pretty good.
Once I had it home, however, the truth reared its ugly head.
Inside and under the wood, there was fairly significant dark brown rust.
Key a swearing badger cleaning things up.
Oky.
Got the surfaces cleaned up, more or less.
And then I moved on to the action itself.
Fuck.
Brown rust and oily sludge all over the place.
Okay, no worries.
I know how to break down a Winchester lever action for cleaning, and it won't take long.
Wrong.......
What the fuck is wrong with those Italian gunsmiths?!
Externally, the gun is absolutely a Winchester 1892.
But internally?
They changed a lot of things....
So much so that the breakdown I used was very wrong, and now the gun is screwed up.
I can't get it apart, or put it back together.
I can't see into it to find out whats different, and the trigger screw is frozen.
Its soaking in break free right now- a trick that freed all the other frozen screws on the gun without much incident.
So I'm going to let the damned thing soak overnight, and I'll take it up again later.
Definitely in a grumpy mood right now.

Like a flame in the night
Posted a year agoWe are all starstuff...
Those were the words of Carl Sagan.
We are all just a flame in the night.
Here for a while, and then gone.
We should all do our best to shine as much as we can, in that brief flicker of light in the endless darkness.
No.
I am not in any danger of flickering out anytime soon.
But I have been given reason to ponder.
And to remember a scientist who opened my eyes to the cosmos.
And to remember friends who have gone on before me.
Here is a song that has new meaning for me today.
