Tabletop RPG Plans
General | Posted 11 years agoAlright, here's the lowdown. This is a post about tabletop RPGs, if this holds no interest for you feel free to stop reading now, cause it's long and to do with starting up a table in my area. If you are interested in learning a bit, maybe getting some ideas for a table in your own area, or are in the Brantford area and interested in participating, keep reading!
So to start off, I've got a few different ideas for tables I wanna run. Kinda wish Brantford had a games store so I could run/play there, but unfortunately we do not have one, so this is all gonna be out of home. Downside, getting materials and space to play is gonna be rough. Plus-side, there's no holds barred to what I'm allowed to run, or my players are allowed to do. I've come up with a few different table ideas, and would like to know the opinions on them for running.
Idea 1: This would be a D&D/Pathfinder game. Those who have been at my table previously have heard a few different things about this one. The basics, it'd be a fairly standard D&D table, high fantasy setting, with one of two goals. Collecting items from dragons, or collecting mystical orbs called Ka'kari. The latter I do give credit to my friend Katrina Brunni whom I roleplayed with for the original Ka'kari ideas. Items from dragons I also wanna shout out Jesse Parkinson whome co-DMed the original campaign for that one with me.
Idea 2: Again a D&D/Pathfinder game, this time though with some rule variance in that all the PC's are to be playing children. A shout out to Meegan St Denis and family for the original idea I never got the chance to play on the table for, but I liked the idea so much I figured it'd be fun to run my own take on it. With this one as well, the story is a continuation of idea 1, wherein both stories have happened and you are the children from those original adventurers.
Idea 3: An Ironclaw table. As the majority of my current friends are furries an Ironclaw table seems like a fun idea. This is unfortunately a system I know very little about so it will be very trial and error learning all the rules with a table. This may also be one to play if people are missing from the standard group on any particular week, since I do want to have a long coherant story with everyone attending every session, so rather than punish anyone for not showing or showing when someone's missing, having an experimental game for the back seems like a good idea.
Idea 4: For those who payed attention to the first note there, there's no holds barred. So I had a faint idea of running a D&D/Pathfinder style game, though running along the lines of a more Corruption of Champions style, wherein sex and debauchery is just as much or an option as fighting. I'm not sure how well this kind of thing would go, and it would probably get old really quickly, but I figured it's a viable option and a little something... New... To bring to my table.
Idea 5: Shadowrun game. Most of my Shadowrun experience has been as a player, working on individual PCs, but I have a little bit of an idea in the works. The idea mostly being based on a Borderlands style, trying to find a mysterious vault-like treasure. Still a WIP though for the more in-depths on it.
Idea 6: I think it's be fun to do a World of Darkness game... Unfortunately I have no major ideas for one at the moment. The majority of my imagination for quests comes from fantasy realms.
Idea 7: Either a BESM or a Mutants and Masterminds game. Cause superheroes. Though this one wouldn't have the same long-spanning goal build like the others, it would be more of a "villain of the week" style. As a result, it would be like watching the Justice League, where it's able to be a new mix of heroes every week. Could be good to do it the same as Ironclaw, where it's the filler if anyone's missing that week.
Idea 8: One last D&D/Pathfinder idea. A villain campaign. In the past I find all-evil campaigns generally don't go over super well. They devolve into power struggle and blind murder. That doesn't mean, again, that it's not a viable option. This is one of the ones though I'd have to police to keep in line and try to prevent such a thing. A structured evil campaign if you will.
Anywho though, those are the table ideas. I will be running one (maybe two) of these ideas every week starting in the next little while.

Minecraft Event: Looking for Players/Actors
General | Posted 12 years agoHey y'all, as you know I do film Minecraft for Youtube and whatnot in my spare time and I got an idea. I was watching some of the new minigames coming out and this particular one caught my eye, Cops and Robbers (Link at the end).
Anyway, I wanna get some people together for I guess what would be called a "cinematic" play. Like rather than acting normally and just blitzing, I wanna gather together some people and make like a movie-style event out of it. Kinda like the Clue movie (possibly with multiple endings). I've got access to a server to run the event but I wanna have more than just 4 players, one being the warden. I need fillers, the standard jailbreak team (the brains, the brawn, etc.) and if no one objects, a warden (I'm willing to be the warden as this whole things is my idea).
But yeah, I wanna basically film what would be "Minecraft: Cops and Robbers: The Movie". but for that, I need a few extra hands. Those involved wont be required to film (unless I'm playing warden cause then I'll want the perspective of the prisoners) though are more than welcome to, and in the end will receive further invited to future minigames and shenanigans.
If interested, drop me a message and I'll get back to you probably by the end of the week.

Nuzlocke: The loss of Feuille...

isaac_zephyr Tears filled my eyes as I held the battered body of Feuille, my beloved friend since New Bark Town in my arm. It was quiet as I stood in the rain just on the city's limits of Azalea, my heart heavy with grief as I placed my friend in his eternal resting place, covering him with a thing layer of dirt and marking it next to five others. Briskette... Sakura... Shush... Speckles... Lolady... They all hurt, but none like losing Feuille.
My remaining Pokemon stood next to me, even Shark silent as I hung my head, the rain masking my sobs as I wipes futilely at my eyes. "I'm sorry..." As I wept, my Hoppip Dandelion floated along next to me, his little yellow eyes a glimmer. I'd only known him a short while, but he knew I was in pain. He also knew though that I had to press on. I couldn't give up. I turned to the six who remained, Shark, who'd hated me since i caught him tilted his great rock neck back in a loud roar. If he wouldn't stand for it why should I, hid trainer?
Shyly Spectriss floated there as well, her ghostly fumes misting the rain as timidly looked at the ground. She would do her best for me, they all would. Soara and Teefany.Even gentle Geena had a sense of determination as she flopped there. They wouldn't give up on me... If I gave up on them...
Clenching my fist and rubbing one last time at my eyes I stood. "You're right... If i quit now then they died for nothing.* With sheer determination i looked upon my Pokemon, and they each in turn returned it. We were all that was left, and nothing was gonna stop us from going all the way. Not Bugsy, not Team Rocket... Not anyone.

Nuzlocke: Trouble brewing!

Isaac_Zephyr "Hey Isaac, it's Riffti. Just got through the Ilex Forest, and it's nice to have signal again. Just calling to say me and Bonfire... We miss you. elm called, we heard all about you and Feuille and we're hoping you take the Gym Challenge! You'd do great! Anyway, gimme a call back when you get this message, and I'll be eager to see you catch up so we can hang out again. Bye!" The phone line beeped quietly as Feuille and I stood in front of Mr.Pokemon's house on Route 34. I still couldn't say I was one hundred percent ready for all this, but as me and Feuille stood next to each other, his head high as he bobbed his head back and forth with a smile. He was definitely a quirky little one for sure. I brought my hand up and dropped a few knocks on the door, receiving the invitation to come in.
"So, you must be Isaac." Two older men sat in front of an expensive looking computer, one in a lab coat and the other in a fine suit. "Here, let me get the Egg." The suited man, obviously Mr.Pokemon stood and head over to his shelf where a large white egg rested in a little warm cup. "This is the egg I want Elm to take a look at. Oak himself admits Elm's a whiz with Pokemon eggs and evolution."
There was a little break in speech as I was handed the egg, barely small enough to be able to put in my bag to carry back. "Indeed I do." The other man spoke up, standing and walking over. "I see professor elm gave you a rare Pokemon." Oak stated kneeling down and giving Feuille a look over; my little Chikorita smiling and waving it's head about to make it's leaf twirl around. "I heard you were coming, so I'd like to give you this."
So many gifts today as I held my hands out and received the little red computer. "That's a Pokedex, it automatically records data on Pokemon you've seen or caught. I'm sure you'll put it to good use."
"Thank you." I replied, almost blushing from all these high named researchers giving me things. I quickly flipped it open and gave Feuille a scan as it filled up with all of what was known about Chikorita. "Cool." I pressed the cry button, and the little machine gave forth a mimicry of Chikorita's cry, making Feuille jump lightly and look around for the invisible other of it's species.
"Anyway, I have research to attend to. Good luck Isaac." And with that Oak turned and walked out, leaving me to wonder if I'd some day see him again. "You should rest here for a bit. Your Pokemon could probably use a rest from getting up here."
"Alright." I replied to Mr.Pokemon, kneeling and giving Feuille a small pat on the back as Mr.Pokemon prepared a new pot of tea for us to enjoy. A few minutes couldn't hurt, though before they could begin we were interrupted by my Pokegear's ring. "Hello?"
There was frantic scrambling on the other side of the line. "Isaac come quick! Something terrible has happened! I... I don't know what to... Just get back as soon as you can!" And with that the line was hung up. Feuille could sense what was going on as he eagerly got to his feet, a determined look in his eyes. We needed to get back to the lab.
"Sorry Mr.Pokemon, I'll have to call a rain check on that rest, something's wrong at the lab." I said, rushing through the door and back to town as fast as my running shoes could carry me, Feuille following close behind.

isaac_zephyr My alarm goes off; 6:00 AM as I roll out of bed slothishly, throwing my legs off the side. "Seems like so long ago..." I mutter to myself, as the framed picture of myself with my young Chikorita sits on the nightstand with a burnt out incense.
"Isaac! Get out of bed, Professor Elm wanted to see you this morning." I hear my mother's voice coming up the stairs, as if my alarm wasn't enough. "I'll be down in a second!" I quickly slip into my comfortable shoes and walk on down to greet my only family member.
My mother sits there before turning her head with a smile. "Oh cheer up Isaac." She tells me as she gets up and walks over with a shoulder strapped bag and hands it to me. "Here, I've packed up your trainer card and a notepad for you to write in."
"Thanks mom..." I respond weakly, pulling out my trainer card and looking at the happy picture of myself and Graskurt, my Chikorita, our faces squished together fighting for dominance of the shot. He was such a stubborn little friend. My expression can only drop lightly as my mother picks up on my downing mood.
"Isaac... You know there's nothing you could have done..." She reassuringly puts her hand on my shoulder as they drop and I replace the card in my bag. "I could have been a better trainer... I could have made better decisions..."
My mother simply frowns. "Come on... Talking with Elm will cheer you up." She said, scooting me out the door into the cool morning breeze. I'm immediately approached by my neighbor's Marill rushing over to my feet, and see Lyra following up behind. She gives me a quick smile before chasing after her Pokemon friend and taking her back in.
I look over to Elm's lab, walking over and giving a light knock on the door. To my surprise the door opens readily for me and Elm sits up at his desk. "Oh Isaac, i was waiting for you." He says, standing and greeting me with an arm over my shoulders as he guides me into the lab. "I have a favor to ask. You see, today we use Pokeballs to keep our Pokemon in; but in the old days, people used to walk around freely with their Pokemon, like your friends, Lyra and Riffti."
The conversation eludes my cognitive skills as I'm lead to a table with a single pokeball. "See, I want you to take this Pokemon and walk around with it. I wanna see if it affects their growth and your bond. Can you do that for me?"
"A... Pokemon?" I say slowly, looking at the ball and remembering my failure all those years ago. The eager and trusting look on Elm's face though reassures me slightly and I reach out, touching the little button on the ball and in a flash of light I'm presented with a young Chikorita. "P-Professor I..." The little Chikorita looks up intently at me, tilting it's head with a little smile on it's face as It browses me over.
"Seems like he likes you already. Gonna give him a name?" I stand a little flabbergasted at everything going on. The young little Pokemon looks up at me, as if hopeful it's destiny is to join me, though my only thoughts remain on Graskurt, and my failure.
I contemplate a moment more, realizing it is perhaps time to move on from my past as I decide upon a name. "Feuille..." I announce, kneeling down and resting my head on the little Chikorita's head. "I promise, I'll keep you safe..." I whisper to the little one as Elm goes over to the phone to take a call. As I look at proud little Feuille, I can't help but think this might be the beginning of something grand.

Nuzlocke: It Hurts on the Inside...
General | Posted 13 years agoI don't think we really understand just how powerful personification really is...
today,
riffti and i started playing Heart Gold and Soul Silver together parallel, and decided to mix it up and play with the Nuzlocke rules. For those who don't know what that is, basically you can only catch the first Pokemon on each new route, and when a Pokemon faints, they die. Additionally, you're to nickname all the Pokemon to catch, in order to form better bonds with them.
Overall, it seemed silly and simple. A good way to mix things up and have some fun. I chose Chikorita to be a little different and went to work with Graskurt, laughing a bit at my silly little name as I went on. It wasn't long before I'd caught Bentista my Pidgey on route 29, and Munchies my Rattata over in route 43. I beat myself up a little for missing out on Sentret but I got over it as I traveled with my motley little crew.
Before long, Toranaga my Caterpie joined in; named for the character in the show Shogun. I decided that was his little goal, he wanted to be Shogun of all the Caterpie, and he inspired me to catch Eldrith and Anjin-San, even though I already had Rattata and Caterpie. They would make valuable teammate. And then there was Anne in Dark Cave. Every new pokemon I'd read up on their natures and traits and I started giving them little personalities... then reality set in when I lost Bentista in Sprout Tower.
It was only a missclick, but I felt a pang in the base of my stomach as I watched his little sprite slip off the screen into the realm of Nuzlocke death. If only I hadn't missclicked and given the potion to Munchies, then I'd still have Bentista... The walk down the tower was bittersweet... I had the TM for Flash, but I'd lost a friend doing it. I resolved to train more, so it wouldn't happen again, and added Wooly to my team to prepare and face Falkner. The gym battle was a resounding success and with Bentista's memory on my mind i set off for the next gym in Azalea.
Along the way I managed to pick up a few more friends, Dig-Dig the Sandshrew, and Flops the Magikarp. I found myself facepalming at Dig-Dig's slightly sub-par mental capacity as I'd barely owned him five minutes and he cheerily followed behind me like a lost puppy. I even adopted him a little quirk of wearing a beach pail on his head. The battles were going well as I walked into Azalea, cautious as again Graskurt gave me a type disadvantage, but confident Bugsy's Scyther was no match for Anne and Wolly's combined efforts. I even had the added luck as i walked through the mart that my Togepi hatched from it's egg, and among the shelves I decided to call the youngling Produce. That security and fortune though was short lived.
As I pursued Kurt the ball craftsman into the Slowpoke Well to aid him in ridding the tail thieves, I was caught by surprise by a Rocket, and within a minute of battle, I lost my precious Anne to a critical hit. Anne, who had been with me now only a few hours, but whom I'd developed a lifetime of personality with. she'd helped me through battles, walling people with her Supersonic and Leech Life, and now she was suddenly wrenched from me. i felt anger as I cut a swath through the remaining Rockets and felling their leader.
I mourned for Anne, but at the same time, after so easily felling the foes who took her from me I felt Azalea's leader Bugsy would be no match for me and my companion's strength. With Produce, Graskurt, Wooly, Dig-Dig, Munchies and Flops I waltz confidently into the gym. The battles were child's play until that final moment where i stood face to face with Bugsy. I left Produce in front, expecting him to lead with his Kakuna and get swept by an easy Extrasensory. i was wrong as I initiated the match and was faced head on with the Bug Expert's Scyther.
Quickly I switched to Wooly, hoping for the Thundershock to get some damage, only to watch in mortal dread as a single U-Turn felled my precious Wooly; Wooly who had fought so valiantly and defeated Falkner single handedly, was suddenly gone. I bit my lip, cursing my misplay as I replaced Wolly's place with Munchies, to deal with the incoming Metapod. I managed to fell the cocoon with little problem, seeing my opponent ready that Scyther again. I healed Munchies with a potion, hoping to take the hit and counter with a STAB Quick Attack... I was felled in a single shot by the Scyther's own Quick Attack, and I held back tears as i watched another of my friends fall in battle.
I felt my hope flicker away as I sent out Graskurt... hoping I might be able to at least get off Poison Powder and stall Bugsy's heavy handed sweeper out, but again that dreaded U-Turn came first, easily felling my partner from the beginning. I was left to send out Dig-Dig and his pail helm as I held back tears, the Kakuna coming out now. I made a switch to Produce for the Extrasensory and a nice two hit KO, but there was nothing left among my teammates to take on that Scyther in the last slot... I watched as one by one it felled my remaining Pokemon and I was left with no one.
I did what I had to afterwards... Depositing my fallen team among the grave and taking out the Shogun to be Toranaga... I could feel his disappointment in me for my rash decision... My blind confidence. I could feel my own disappointment at myself. I'd given each and every one of these being a personality... A life... And I failed to protect them. I let them down.
I felt I couldn't continue, returning to the real world I deleted the save to start again tomorrow... Right now though, i found myself crying. I'd watched countless videos of Nuzlocke challenges, though I felt how they felt as i watched their Pokemon fall, but I was wrong. Experiencing it myself, I looked back on those I'd watched, those who made it look easy, and I cried for them as well. The sheer, heart wrenching grief of knowing they died for you... That you let them down.
I'll start again tomorrow morning, and probably keep these journals; to recount my successes and my losses... I'll go in this time, knowing that Graskurt and the others are watching over me... Making sure I don't make the same mistakes, that I protect them just as much as they protect me and don't put them into unnecessary danger...
I'll win for them... And the Pokemon and personalities who'll fight alongside me, and believe in me.I'll make them all proud...

today,
riffti and i started playing Heart Gold and Soul Silver together parallel, and decided to mix it up and play with the Nuzlocke rules. For those who don't know what that is, basically you can only catch the first Pokemon on each new route, and when a Pokemon faints, they die. Additionally, you're to nickname all the Pokemon to catch, in order to form better bonds with them.Overall, it seemed silly and simple.

Chapters upon chapters!
General | Posted 13 years agoSearching frantically for my reference list to send all to Westview when I've come across the first chapter of Isaac's prequel story. As well as the first chapter of Riffti and Isaac's story. It's a tad ironic the main hub that both these works are based off was lost when my old laptop's harddrive fried. Gotta invest in an external reader for that to see if I can recover it... ;~;
College
General | Posted 13 years agoPeople insist on a new journal, so as I begin work on Isaac and Riffti, chapter 2 I'll throw up this little tidbit.
Got a call the other day from the Funeral Services program director at Humber. :3 Told me I had passed all the academic requirements and it was just a matter of my stuff from the funeral observation time that hadn't gone though. I've been given the opportunity to get it in, meaning I could be going to college this year after all! :D There's so much to do though! Only one month left to get prepared! D:

New story, new title
General | Posted 14 years agoHello everyone, figured I should start throwing some writing up, especially since I have some inspiration. Chapter 1 will be up within a few days, Wednesday at the latest, though as I write it, I'll need to come up with a title. It's the third in a small series of mine (which if I can recover my laptop stuff I'll post the first two novels in parts) the first book being "The Birth of a Hero" and the second "Heroes of Our Time". I need a title for the third one, which so far plans to feature
riffti,
isaaczephyr, and a few others. Input and whatnot are always appreciated on anything I throw up.
