I uploaded a crapton of Sallow art, check it out!

I almost drew weird Sallow porn today.
Posted 14 years ago...but then I realized that my drawn penises dont look too hot, so I covered it up.
:o
WHAT IS THIS PATH IM BEING TEMPTED DOWN IM DOING RULE 34 FOR THINGS IM CREATING AAAAAH.
Also, I got the scanner, but I need a printer cord. I dug out my old inking pens, but I cant find my prisma pencils. :(
I really do like creating races for my rpg, so I'm prolly gonna do that in the downtime between my music. It really does help with the musical creative part, because now that I have an image of the Sallow race, I can really see and hear how they would act in a submerged darkness city, and that creates the inspiration for the music.
when I do get this posted, I'd love to see other people's takes on Sallow in their own artistic style :D

Sallow, music, and artwork!
Posted 14 years agoSo, one of the mock RPG songs is going to be a town based on a city shrouded in darkness. Well last night, I had a dream about that very town, more specifically its inhabitants. I wrote it all down, and I've sketched them out today at work, so hopefully that will be finished soon :D, gonna look for my prismas and ink and color it up all nice.
The name of the race is Sallow (singular and plural are the same word), and they are a mole-like people with large pupil-less eyes that don't have the ability to blink, all around creepy looking but a friendly race with a bunch of quirks and what not. They are Earth Animists and rely on rock and minerals to survive in near darkness.
--
I'm hellbent on finishing this battle theme, but its fighting me every note of the way. I'm just about done, so please be patient, I guarantee after thats done I'm gonna have a splurt of inspiration and finish my next song pretty quickly :) As I've been taken with the Sallow race, the city in darkness theme is most likely going to be next on my list
--
I'm getting a scanner tomorrow *YAY* so I'll be able to share more of my Broken Earth concept art :) I know Crys has been pushing me to share more of my artwork, since its not apparently as bad as I thought it was, so I'd love to do that.

If I could draw really awesome comics...
Posted 14 years ago...the first thing I would draw would be a Team Fortress X-rated comic about a secret rendevous between Red Sniper and Blue Spy. I had the whole story line in my head; Blue Spy goes to backstab Red Sniper, but he has on a Razorback, rendering his knife useless, Red Sniper turns around, grabs his wrists and pushes him into the wall, but instead of killing him with his Kukri, he locks a kiss with him and then NONSENSE ENSUES.
....
Does that make me weird? :<

Broken Earth Projected song list!
Posted 14 years agoSo, like my first RPG soundtrack, I'm trying to outline the general themes for the songs I plan on writing. I've got it separated into three categories, and writing it down makes me realize how massive this project has the potential to get. Some of theme have already been done, as you know, but this is what I got so far. It's not complete, so bear that in mind. :) Animist pieces will have your more traditional RPG style music, lush strings, horns, woodwinds, etc. Machinist side pieces will feature more of a grungy, electro-pop sound while still maintaining some of those traditional styles. Think Infected Mushroom layered over orchestral stuff.

Name as many cliche places you would visit in the course of your standard SNES/PS1 RPG game. Looking for vague suggestions such as "City in the Clouds" or "Town under Martial Law" or "Factory inside of a Mountain". I know I have some oldschool rpg gamers on my watch list! Gogogo!
also, I'm working on some more chiptune nonsense while I put together some more background story for the other half of my Broken Earth project! Stay tuned!

update on the friend thing and gaming nonsense
Posted 14 years agoSo, sister of the friend contacted me through facebook. She didn't cut off contact, her phone died so she couldn't text me back. She said she doesn't care about my sexuality. She's gonna try to talk to her brother and see what is going on for me.
As far as gaming goes, I played Dance Central for the first time (Xbox Kinect game if youre not in the know) and I liked it soooo much that I went out the following morning and picked up my own kinect and a copy.
I've been playing it ALLLLL DAY. I know my neighbors are irritated but I've been cuttin it up on the dance floor in my house haha. I implore you, if you have a bunch of goofy friends and you want to have some fun, break this game out, even if you've never danced a lick in your life. (I love to dance and i dance all the time soooo :p)
This is also a good excuse to try and lose some weight, since I'm pushing 200 pounds now. Granted it all lays hidden (like my thighs and my big oll butt) so i can dress away the pounds, but I could stand to lose about 20 pounds lol. This game will definitely help me achieve that!
Also, I've gotten back into Team Fortress again. If any if you guys play, add me on your steam! my Steam Id is Ryannis, and I'll probably be your friendly neighborhood medic or your super irritating spy. :3

ugh so irritated.
Posted 14 years agoSo remember about a week or so back when I made a journal about that guy I grew up with as best friends, and upon finding out I was gay, cut off communication with me?
Well, I'm friends with his sister too, so I was trying to reach out to her to see if he was deliberately not talking to me or just being lazy. I told her I was gay too. Now she's not talking to me.
These are people I've known for 10+ years, who at one time trusted me like real family.
*super irritated*

6 more random things you may not know about Jack!
Posted 14 years ago-I have 6 piercings. Lobes are at 3/4 inch, inner conch on both sides, septum and tongue. At one time I had 11 (Snake bites and an industrial and another ear piercing) but I downsized after I started my job.
-I have a physical attraction to guys who are physically built bigger than me (read: not overweight) because I thoroughly enjoy being the inner spoon, and that does not happen often enough. :(
-I recognize the fact I have very low self confidence as far as physical features go, so its really awkward when I get hit on or someone I think is really cute starts talking to me.
-One day, I'd like to illustrate a childrens book.
-I have a cat named Mikey, who is ridiculously awesome. :)
My two best friends are vegetarians, and I love their cooking more any anyone elses I know, except for moms.

Yaaay finally farting out some music!
Posted 14 years agoSo after deleting the world map theme I was writing like 6 times, I'm finally putting some work down that I approve of!
I started out trying to do one of those "WERE ON AN ADVENTURE YAAAAY" world map themes, and I disliked it. a LOT. I refuse to ever play it for anyone because its POOP!
After thinking about my ingame world, I've come up with something a little more moody for this half of the world. I'll need to finish my description of Broken Earth as well before I can post it.
Lots of work ahead!

Posted 14 years agoHad a bad day, you know that already.
Went to play TF2, because I wanted to blow someone up.
I *normally* (read: like 95% of the time) play medic. Ingame is Dr. Morris. I literally play medic every day.
I was NOT in the healing mood. Rolled Pyro.
#1 ViP on my team every single round, for over two hours. one game I was at like 40 something kills, person at spot #2 was at 17 or so.
I spat shit, and then i burned their faces off. Felt good. Cussed at them all and then logged off. Probably not the most humanitarian thing to do, but I got dealt a crappy hand in life today and needed an outlet.
*shrug*

No music spotlight, expected that. Not trying anymore.
Work sucked, I wasnt supposed to teach today so I was going to catch up on work at my desk, but everyone else on the training team called on so I had to teach for the 5th day in a row. I was only scheduled two of those days, and I'll probably have to teach again tomorrow. Eternally behind.
Chiptune and Mock RPG soundtrack not going well. Serious writers block.
Lost a good friend over the week, he came back from basic, and upon finding out my sexuality, he refuses to talk to me. Story of my life i suppose.
---
One bright spot, come Friday I'll be in Dallas for A-Kon. Need to just get my mind off of all of the negativity going on right now.

To the faithful few who watch and listen to my music
Posted 14 years ago...thank you.
I'm a speck in the fandom, and I feel like I'm overlooked, or I can't inspire people with my music. I don't generate near the amount of buzz as other artists who have been around much longer than me. The only exposure I ever get is the tiny window at the bottom of FA when my icon is down there. I know that its an exposure issue other than a talent issue why my music isnt as popular as others, but at times I let it get to me, and I start wondering if I have any compositional talent at all.
I don't compose in a particularly popular style for the fandom (orchestra/game music as opposed to Trance/Techno/Parody) and the composers who ARE established in the orchestral genre are flat out ridiculously amazing. I've always been intimidated by them. I remember back when I'd finished the Time project, and I was trying to contact some of them to see if they would listen to some of my music and give me some pointers. Out of like the 15 I contacted, only one wrote me back. Two said they would listen and get back to me, and never talked to me again. That was a bit heartbreaking.
With all the venting aside, Words cannot express how much I truly appreciate you guys who've stuck by and taken the time to listen to what I create; to give my music a CHANCE. If it weren't for you guys, I probably would have given up a long time ago. The fact that you guys are still listening after all this time tells me I've got atleast a LITTLE something going on here that's worth continuing.
Thank you, from the bottom of everything. I hope this next project completely blows you and I away. :) I'll try my best.

I'm scared and excited at the same time. I love Oklahoma, but I don't feel like my place is here. Ever since I visited Washington 5+ years ago, I've always wanted to go back.
So! I'm gonna be saving my butt off for the rest of the year, since I plan on driving. Theres a lot of "what ifs" and a lot of "I dont knows" but I feel in my heart this is the best thing for me. I gotta do this!

Anyone know a pixel artist?
Posted 14 years agoSoooo...I may be putting the mock rpg soundtrack on hold to do a mock Mega Man chiptune soundtrack!
I'd love to work with a pixel artist who would come up with like 8 original mega man inspired bosses, and I'd write their themes out.
That sounds fun. :3

Keep in mind....I am not that great of a writer, so hopefully this doesnt tank, but I'm having fun doing it!
I also need a name for my "game", drawing a blank at this time. ><

6 random things you may not know about Jack.
Posted 14 years ago1) I love to bake stuff for people. I've had co-workers fight over my cheesecakes. I can't cook very well, but I can bake my ass off. :) Attempting new baking recipes and trying them out on my friends is one of my favorite hobbies. (Trying out a tres leches ake for Cinco de Mayo!)
2) Physical traits I find attractive in a guy in no particular order: Broad shoulders combined with a V-shaped back (this will make me stop in my tracks and stare), glasses, guys who are waaaaay taller than me (6'5"+++), Beards and goatees, redheads, guys who are physically built bigger than me and still h/w proportionate. If I find all of these traits in one guy, I'd probably explode.
3) One day, I wanna see what its like to be the inside spoon for once. Hopefully by the guy in number 2.
4) My main instrument of study is classical string bass, however I can play electric bass, four mallet marimba, every other keyboard percussion instrument (except piano, atleast not well enough to seriously play something good), percussion auxilliary instruments (my snare sticking sucks, but I can fake it) and I can survive on clarinet to a point. I can sing to a degree, although I'm embarassed to sing for people unless its karaoke or on a paying gig.
5) I'm a big fat TMNT fan, even before I got into the furry fandom. I've worn the same TMNT hoodie for the last 5 years, washed of course. My TMNT wallet I've had for 4. For my last birthday, my best friend gave me the new TMNT movie poster that he swiped for me since he works for a movie theater. I <3 him.
6) I love fashion, but I couldn't tell you any big names in the fashion world. I always thought it would be fun to try to do some sort of model work, but I don't have the looks or the confidence for it. Back in college, being the gay that I am, I used to walk up and down the vacant corridors to practice a model walk, which actually got stupid good, but I dont walk like that in public lol.

WONDER COMBO!
Posted 14 years agoSo, Dungeon Fighter Online is a ridiculously addictive 2d sidescrolling beat em up MMO. Think Streets of rage/Final Fight with level up capabilities.
PvP in Dfo is amazing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFkcfXfvBjE
I finally managed to get the wonder combo on video! it starts around :30
I'm the chick with the skirt, bunny on her head and the sheep shoes on.
---DFO JARGON PAST THIS LINE--
I play a striker, and most strikers use boxing gloves because they make your attack speed go through the roof and they have a chance to stun. Not me! I use GAUNTLETS. Why?
-Way more attack power
-a TRUCKTON of hit stun
-WAY MORE ATTACK POWERRRRR
-Combined with Power Fist, its ridiculous.
Sure, I'm not as fast as other strikers, but I can kill most classes in one combo. I forgot to buff power fist, so thats why the combo is a little sloppy.
Combo breakdown-
Buff Super Armor, open with tornado kick, cancel into a jump kick. xxx, cancel to crushing fist, tiger chain strike, xxx cancel into bone crusher, rising fist. While they are in the air, buff Muscle shift, as they fall, hit them with one inch punch and cancel into Lightning Dance. If they're not dead by then, you can OTG them with low kick and hammer kick.
your biggest foe is getting a miss. I missed my last hit of tiger chain strike and if I didnt have super armor on I would have lost my combo. so make youre you buff fatal aim for that extra hit!

Two random thoughts before I go to bed.
Posted 14 years ago1)
Most furry musicians I've noticed write primarily electronic music. While I've written an entire electronic album (and enjoyed it quite immensely) I dont really consider myself a composer of that primary style. To be honest, I really struggled with the Time soundtrack.
I've always considered myself a classical composer. I can take woodwinds and strings and create something wonderful from it that I cannot do with a square synth. It just sometimes saddens me that the style of music that I am most comfortable composing in is not exactly the style of music that the furry fandom is open to listening to (in comparison with electronic styles that is.)
Regardless of this, I still continue to compose in the classical style. And I'm hoping one day more people notice that furry composers can do more than just drop a sick beat or create some really respectable dubstep. We can create music that would enhance fim and tv. We can take a story and write a sonata that compliments it. I want to be at the forefront of that, and I don't know how to really do that other than what I'm doing, which is just writing and sharing.
I just feel like I'm missing something. I dunno. Maybe I'm just stupid.

I tend to put up huge walls when it comes to establishing relationships past the good friend area. I've had opportunities to pursue romantic relationships, but its like a defense mechanism auto activates and I competely shut myself off to that person until they've moved on. Thats not normal, and I want to remedy that, but I wouldn't even know the first steps to take. I used to argue with a roommate all the time because I told him I was content with being single, and he would always say "you're content because you've never experience being loved and you don't know how wonderful it is." I used to tell him he was stupid. I was a realist and he was a dreamer, so while we got along, we always has personality conflicts like that.
I'm starting to wonder if he was right. Have I gotten so used to being on my own that I'm completely missing out on this whole other part of life?
Hm.
This rare serious moment from the bunny is brought to you by the letter Y and the numbers 8 and 1.

another random note, next song for the Mock RPG soundtrack # 2 (unofficial name) is about halfway done. Working title is "The Innkeeper and his Daughter". I'm loving it :3 BIG FAT STRINGS CHORDS :D

Pay da rent!
Posted 14 years agoSo, because of that nonsense that happened with the car on the way back from the car, I am scrounging up funds to apply toward the rent. I'll be able to cover my rent check with my overdraft protection through my bank, but just trying to make some extra funds so I don't have to go as far negative.
I'm a firm believer in karma and "everything happens for a reason" events. I didn't have any cellphone service at the con, but when I got back home, I had two messages from a good friend of mine who puts together our jazz combos to play for random things for cash.
He's lined me up with two paying gigs, one tomorrow with a PHENOMINAL saxophone player who I love to work with. It's paying 60 bucks plus tips for basically doing what I'd do for free, walk da bass in the company of other talented musicians. He's also got a wedding booked for me on May 14th, for our ex-guitar player who had to quit due to job issues.
So yeah, I'll be broke for the beginning of the month, but I'm sure I'll rebound fine. Keeping your head up among the murk has always been my solution, and its never failed me :)

in other news, I've began work again on the second mock RPG soundtrack. Second song is turning out pretty epic! Can't wait to share it with you guys :D

Con nonsense!
Posted 14 years agoAll in all, I had a damn good time! I love cons, and being part of this big ol' community and being around other furs from all the corners. It's a great experience!
High points of the con as I can think of them:
-Meeting up with local Oklahoma and Texas furs at Dennys before we convoyed to the con
-Stopping at McDonalds and being called out on my blackness because I ordered a fried chicken salad
-Belting out Lady GaGa on the highway in an attempt to keep from falling asleep, unaware that Chibi was watching me in her rearview mirror
-ALL THOSE CUTE COUNTRY BOYS AT THE WILBURTON MINI SUPERMARKET
-Confronting two old people in the camp and asking them if they were furries, and then meeting two others and having the older lady declare that she would "squat down and poop anywhere in the forest without a thought"
-That first night of sleep was HEAVENLY.
-Everything Kwaz the Drumming Raccoon related. TABLA >:E
-Everything Falconpunch related. I went home and practiced isolations!
-Watching Marvol play my bass :3
-Convoying out with Dobie and Torn and a bunch of other furs to Pizza hut and generally being loud and obnoxious.
-JULIE BUNNY MUST DIE.
-Dancing (modestly at first) at all the nightly dances, even though there was barely anyone there until the Dead dog dance, and THAT was a lot of fun :D
-Drawing the lollipop picture and having Crys help me with the hand after she saw me screwing up 100x times. Thanks!
-Getting rained on like a boss and cuddling up with Ganix to keep warm
-ENGLISH. TOFFEE. PUPPY. CHOW. HNNNNNRG. *explode*
-Everything Bucktown Tiger related, especially busting out every ghetto black line dance at the first dance to the techno music, that was great :D
-Coco's rap at the variety show, boss!
-losing my wallet. This is a high point, because I was really distraught for a bit, and Oki Doki told me "if you see it coming back to you, it wil;l." So for the rest of the day, i held to that statement, and focused on art and actually got a few commisions. Later that following morning as I woke up, I got out of bed, and my wallet fell out from between my covers. I know for a FACT I ripped my entire bedspace apart and nitpicked everything atleast 10 times over. I have no idea how my wallet got there. I'm blaing it on divine intervention. Thanks Oki for giving me hope.
-Hanging out in the bathroom with half the con after the tornado sirens went out, and having someone go pee right there in front of everyone. That was GREAT.
-EVERYTHING THAT I ATE AT THE MESS HALL.
-Volunteering Friday for a while washing dishes. I don't really care more than necessary about the big things in life like money, cars, fame. Seeing people look you in the eye ans say, "thank you" for a bit of service is where its at. Try it sometime.
-I can't remember who it was, but down at the campfire someone was spinning fire poi to Kwaz's drumming. That was phenomenal. I <3 your face.

Low points, just two really:
-On the way down my battery died, and I had to buy a new one. 112 bucks. On the way back home, my brand new battery died, leaving me stranded about 25 miles out from Henryetta. No cellphone service, so 35 minutes passed and a highway patrolman spotted me and called me a wrecker who said he'd be there in 45 minutes. Took him two hours and 15. tow was 125 bucks. Turns out the alternator had fried. Cost 315 bucks to have it fixed, and a five hour awkward wait in the lobby of the place. The lasy was really nice though, gave me some Mazzio's Pizza and watched me draw for a bit. I'm soooo lucky to have had my wallet returned to me otherwise I'd be screwed like a asian schoolgirl. I had to use part of my rent money to pay for it, so next month is gonna be rough financially, but I'll pull through, I always do.
-I really really REALLY miss everyone :( Talk to me on AIM! Post con sadness always gets me. I will find a way to visit all of you somehow!
I cannot WAIT for Oklacon! I'm trying to put together a dance for the variety show. I've been challenging myself to get a little more serious about dancing, so this is my shot :D

Separation!
Posted 14 years agoI've been meaning to do this for a while, but I want to seperate my music from my art.
This last con has made me realize that maybe my art isnt so bad, and its pushed me to start drawing more and sharing! Sometime in the future I will designate this FA as my art FA and I'll have to create a new FA for my music. A loooooong time ago, I made this panda fursona. I think its time to bring him back as a musician's FA, hows that sound?
I'll make the announcement whenever I get that scanner and have a way to regularly post art so you watchers can watch the music account too. :3
