I'm going to Wild Nights!
Posted 14 years agoGot the time approved off for it, and the money I made from featuring my EP "Time" at Cameron university for new music festival will be paying my way!
So! Who else is going? I'll be driving up from Lawton, but I keep hearing rumors about a rideshare thats going to meet up on OKC. If that is happening I would love to be a part of that.
Only thing I'm worried about is that I wasnt sure i was going until the last minute decision to approve my time off, so I wasnt able to preregister. I really had my heart set on being in one of those cabins, but I know people who preregister have first dibs. I'd be sad if I got there and had to sleep outside :(

Started work on the new sountrack!
Posted 14 years agoFirst song is tenatively titled "Choose your Hero".
the project will once again be based on a mock rpg that I'll be making up on the spot, but this time I'm taking inspiration from the 64 bit era. Thats your Playstation 1, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, N64 era. Unfortunately there were not many games from the N64 that were memorable RPGs other than Ogre Battle, but still <3
Main sources of inspiration are some of my favorite games of all time such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Suikoden series, Alundra (really amazing underrated game) vagrant Story, and all those wonderful strategy rpg games from that era.
I'm gonna go for a setlist of 20 again. Instead of doing towns and whatnot, I'm going to also be writing out stories for conflicts.
So far, for the sketches for the mock game I'm "writing", going for a more medevial, darker theme, but the cogs are turning!
I'lll keep you posted :)

Soooooo. Furry Fiesta.
Posted 15 years agoI have the money to go.
I've got the vacation time to use.
I'm mainly just worried about getting there.
Driving to Oklacon was fun, because I was practically driving through country and highway.
Furry Fiesta is in DALLAS. and inner city traffic scares the HELL out of me. Like OKC traffic scares me, and I've been in a car going on Dallas highways and I was acting like that little annoying crybaby on a sweet rollercoaster.
Ah dilemma. So, we shall see if I will go or not.

Late night WoW streaming.
Posted 15 years agoI've got a dorky ustream channel where I stream myself playing videogames.
Right now, working on leveling a goblin through northrend content on the push to 85.
If youre really bored, watch me grind out enemies and stuff.

Sending large files through the web?
Posted 15 years agoSo, I'd like to send some of my friends copies of "Time" through email. Gmail is dumb and only allows uploads of like 10megs.
I've been searching for a site I can upload the space to and then send them the link, but most of them are riddled with ads and hard to find download links.
Anyone have any suggestions for a file sharing site that doesnt bog you down with advertisements and is friendly to use?

Mock videogame soundtrack x 2
Posted 15 years agoI loved doing Aurora Divide. I think that style of music is my strength.
I had plans on attempting to do a chiptune album but dont know how thats gonna work out.
Soooooo...I may do another mock videogame soundtrack. Exact same layout as Aurora Divide, possibly even the same inspirations, placed into a hat, drawn out, and then composed. Granted these are going to be completely different songs, because I'm gonna base it on a completely different mock game, which has yet to be made up.
Thoughts? :3

So, if you were keeping track, I FINISHED "TIME", It's here!

(For whatever reason, on facebook when I was clicling the link it was adding a %EF%BB%BF to the end of the url in the bar. Just delete that part of the URL and it will take you to the page. Thanks!)
So I'm lazy, so I'm gonna copy and paste this from my facebook page.
---
this is it. The 7 months of composition and tweaking come to fruition here.
Please take a listen, even if its just a few songs. :) It's free to stream, get the whole thing for 5 bucks. Thats a cheap number 4 at Burger King's worth of 47 minutes of original music.
The premise is that each of the tracks are based loosely on each hour of time which coincides with its track number. If you want any extra insight on any of the songs, or the inspiration behind it, please feel free to ask. :)
Thanks, love you all, sorry for spamming your inbox!

Posted 15 years agoSo, I've got a crazy idea. No one listens to my music so....
Posted 15 years ago...I thought about starting a community where I would just find people and give them my honest opinions about their music in a detailed post, and then link each piece that I made a comment on in the community. People would be welcome to join and make commentary on the pieces, or offer up their own pieces for comments and criticism.
I dont draw porn, I dont write comics, and I dont know anyone wildly popular, so lets just face it. I'm not going to be anyone who is anyone in the fandom, because well frankly, people just dont have the time to spare to listen to a 4 minute song, much less make a comment or god forbid favorite it if they like it. My hopes is that this community would bring together musicians out there who output some really fantastic music, but are stuck in a dark place of obscurity.
I don't know how it would work out, but I know its so discouraging. I have no plans of uploading anymore music to FA past Drive, just because i know it will get overlooked until I can do something to promote my music. This probably wont work, but its worth a shot. I dont know what else to do.

Theres only about a week and a half left to participate. Please submit something, its really a lot of fun.
Random note: it makes me sad when a piece I worked my heart out on gets pretty much overlooked, when a scribble with a penis on it gets tons of views and comments. :(
Ah, the life of an obscure composer is rough, however, thank you so much for those faithful few that listen to my works. I dont get a chance to really make you aware every day, but I appreciate every favorite and every comment you make more than you ever know, and thats the truth. <3.

I want a copy of Werewolf.
Posted 15 years agoLike, I've been raving nonstop about it since I got back from Oklacon. I'd love to print off the versions from the websites and make big cards, but I want an actual official copy. Need to figure out how much it'll cost :3
Oklacon report, MONDAY
Posted 15 years agoMonday was, "omg get your shit and get out day!"
Trying to disassemble my tent and put it back in that tiny box was a comedy in itself, with the oklahoma wind screwing with me every time I needed something to stay still. I finally managed to get it all packed away, spent a few trips taking stuff to the car, and then I decided I didn't want to leave just yet. I found CutePuppy and asked if I could help out with cleaning up the park.
I got BATHROOM DUTY RAWR.
Now. I currently work for a bank as a CSR trainer, but before that I was a Crew Trainer for Taco Bell. I worked overnights at a 24 hour store, so i used to see all sorts of middle of the night nonsense in the bathrooms, from passed out drunks to poop in places where you would need a trampoline to reach.
Honestly, compared to that, the con bathrooms were not that bad. The female bathroom toilets I think were possesed, and one was REALLY BAD, but throw some bleach and pinesol around and hot water, and its not scary anymore.
Mens bathroom. >> Learn to take your underwear home. for real. In the shower drain is NOT an appropriate place for your undies!
It wasnt really hard, but it was long, because there was only like one drain, so trying to move all that water around was annoying, and the squeegee was so bootleg, it barely worked :( But I did manage to get it done. Took about two hours or so.
After that, I found HorsesGhost and we were tasked with putting out the campfire. Now, my thought process was, "well its fire, I can just dump some water on it and it'll go out." I went to the now SPARKLEY LIKE TWILIGHT VAMPIRES bathroom and filled a trash bucket with water, dragged it over to the fire and tipped the water in.
That fire EXPLODED. Like, water and steam was going everywhere and coals were flying, I must have looked like a tap dancer trying to avoid those sparks and coals flying everywhere. The water INSTANTLY boiled, and took on a primordial soup looking color, like something you'd see in some swamp horror movie. The others came back with more water, and by that time, all the water I'd poured onto it had evaporated off, and it was STILL hot.
About 6 trashcans full of water and a lot of cursing later, the stupid fire was finally out.
After that, I started to help Istanbul with moving the chairs from the Artists Alley A frame back to the tukey roost. About this time I discovered I'm really out of shape, because a few rounds of that and my body was like, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING". But got that done.
Finally, I helped out with moving the bunk beds and matresses back into the artist alley a frame. that was probably the easiest, but I was worn out after that. But a good few hours of hard work feels good after you're done.
I loaded up the rest of my crap, said bye to everyone and headed back out on the road. It was about this time that my car lighter decided to randomly break, so I couldn't charge my GPS.
Uh oh.
I still had the mapquest directions, so I just decided to say screw it, read the directions backwards, and two and a half hours later, I made it home.
My cat Mikey was so happy to see me, he couldn't decide if he wanted to jump on me or eat cat food, so he sorta did both at the same time, which made me laugh pretty hard. :)
tl;dr version: con was awesome, met some awesome people, no reason to even bring up the negative things, the very few there were.

Oklacon report, SUNDAY
Posted 15 years agoSo, Saturday night I didnt sleep nearly as well as I did the other night, because my imagination got the better of me, and I kept waking up at every little stupid sound in the middle of the night.
Corsi referred to it as Slow Motion Sunday, that is exactly what it was. I headed over to the artists alley A frame and got some awesome breakfast courtesy of Pan-pan and company, and I vowed next year I'm bringing all of my cooking stuff and we will have IRON CHEF BATTLE HIYA.
Honestly most of Sunday afternoon I dont really remember doing much but milling around random places. I did manage to pick up a bag of animal cookie cutters for 6 bucks at the auction, and at closing ceremonies we discovered that we had raised over 5000 bucks for Safaris, which is absolutely incredible, considering that the last few hundreds were donated right there on the spot after HorsesGhost asked if we could get it over 5k.
By far however, the highlight of this day was had in A frame 1 where Tobias was hosting games of Werewolf of the Dark Arts. I headed over there around 7pm or so-ish with Sohma, not really knowing what to expect.
A few games in, I was hooked. If you didn't play Werewolf, next year you GOTTA play. I lied, cheated, killed, saved some folks, got lynched, eaten, shot, divined, and survived up until like 2am.
When the hunter got lynched and in turn killed the fool that was HILARIOUS. Also, when it was discovered that the cult leader was in love with the magistrate and they both died, that was even more funny.
Istanbul and Corsi are freaking clever at this game. one round I was the Oracle, and I was So close to figuring out who the last werewolf was, and I got killed off :( Watching the game with your eyes open at night is almost as entertaining as actually playing.
I'll definitely be buying this and playing it here at home. I'd go so far as to say its better than apples to apples.
Spent the rest of the night hanging out in front of the turkey roost and the campfire, sharing smores and campfire cooked hotdogs, and then passed out at like 3am in that cold ass tent.

Oklacon report, SATURDAY
Posted 15 years agoSo, after waking up from the most epic dream of me being on a team of ninjas taking out big ass robots with lightsabers, I wake up, get dressed, and tale my laptop over to the artists alley to work on some music. Crys and Rinzi are in there, along with Derrick and a few other furs who I hadn't met yet. I finally got up the inspiration to finish a piece titled "Science Class" for my Time EP, which is honoring my favorite teacher who pushed me to my limites and encouraged me to enroll in a program called Upward Bound, which eventually led to my college graduation.
I pretty much stayed in there until it was announced that it was time for Predator and Prey, which I'd been pretty pumped for all day.
--
Now, remember how I said I didn't wanna do anything embarassing? Yeah. Keep reading.
So right before that, I went to the turkey roost, and they happened to have leftovers from the sponsor lunch, some absolutely stunning beef wellington with potatoes and salad and some freaking awesome peach cobbler a la mode. My inner fat kid was like, "OMG SO FUCKIN FANTASTIC OMNOMNOM" and as soon as I took my last bite, Predator and Prey was announced.
So, I'm standing in line, waiting to pick my beads, and my dumbass picked herbivore.
FUCK ME.
I was trying to map out some sort of strategy, picking out who the carnivores were, who looked the fastest and who i thought I could outrun. I got my paper and pencil, and we got released, and I head toward the grassy areas behind the artists alley. It's about this time I realized I still had by bright blue shirt and pacman hoodie on, making it pretty hard to hide.
DOUBLE FUCK ME.
So, I'm out in this damn field trying to blend in with Inky and Sue standing out like an alligator in traffic, and the moment I find my first water, the omnivores are released. So I change up my strategy and try to find other herbivores to hang out with, because if they get eaten, I'm all good!
I find a few, and here come the omnis, ready to eat my ass. (theres a joke in there harharhar.) My strategy works pretty good, I outrun the other herbivores and they get eaten, and I live another day. This happens again, I run again, and once again I get away. I found a food on top of a hill, which is being patrolled by two other omnivores, who start counting. I realize by now I've lost my pen and my paper. They're already on 14 to 30.
TRIPLE FUCK GOD DAMNIT.
So I try to stall by looking for my pencil and paper, which fails horribly, so I take a leap of faith and volley myself down the side of a hill, which actually works without resulting in my death, in game or otherwise. I avoid one more carnivore with a juke move and make it to the safe zone.
By now I'm pretty spent and theres like an hour and thirty minutes left in the game, but I'm really really competitive, so I'm like WHATEVER HO I AINT SCURRED WHERE MY WATER AT, Idrink a few of those and take off down toward the bathrooms to talk to Wind.
He says there is food behind one of the far a frames so I jog over there, and I get hit by the truck. Damnit, 7 lives left. I dont even get to put my ring back on my pants when a carnovire comes FLYING around the corner after me. I start sprinting in the other direction and fucking Tobias comes from around the tree who is flood. So by now I'm like, yeah I'm about to be raped by water and a damn wolf, so I take my changes with Tobias, and lo and behold he ingores me and kills the carnivore! Woot!
However, by now I'm so tired I cant run from the omnivore who patiently watched me tire myself out. 6 lives left.
By this time the carnivore is back alive, and the flood is gone, so he starts chasing me again, I sprint towards the safe zone, and I get saved by the truck, who hits him this time instead of me.
By now, I'm stupid tired, my legs are shaking and my heart is going 340 bpm. I realized in my haste I lost some of my beads because I didnt clip it well, so I have only 3 left. FFFFFFuck.
I overhear a herbivore say there was lots of food and water in the parking lot, so I head that way, and I find said supplies. I also find an omnivore who is waiting in ambush, so once again, I start running. Normally I could have easily outpaced him, but I'm so exhausted, so I run behind a car, and we do the whole car chase thing. I'm just hoping that flood or fire or disease or SOMETHING would come out of the woodworks, but nooooo, it was just him and I, running around a car for a good 10 minutes. I finally make a break for it and run my fastest and barely manage to get away from him and stumble into the safe zone.
Now. By now, I cant stand, I'm so tired, and I feel it coming on. Eating a full meal with barely any water before all that running was a baaaaaaaad idea. My sights getting all hazy and my stomach is doing gymnastics getting 10s all over the place, but I was fighting it every moment, because I'll be damned if I'm the one fur at con that is remembered for barfing his guts out in front of everyone at the Turkey Roost.
Well, all the willpower in the world wont save you from upchucking so I discovered. I managed to signal to someone that I needed a trash can because I couldnt stand up, and he had good timing because right after that, I prayed to that plastic trash can god. All the beef welling ton, all the peach cobbler, EVERYTHING cane right back up in quite the unflattering and disgusting manner.
I was pretty mortified, but I was amused by the fact that I did not get caught by any carnivores. I decided that I died of natural causes in that game of Predator and Prey, and security told me that I cant leave until I rested for a good hour and drank and kept down atleast four glasses of water, which I had no problem with agreeing with.
After that I went back to my tent and rested for a bit, then I hung out over at Don's tent and talked about music (Reminder for myself to look up Moog Machine) and I drew myself barfing into a trash can to commemorate my embarassing moment.
I hung out there for a while, and then headed up to watch the Variety Show, which was actually pretty damn entertaining. I especially enjoyed the Furrank Sinatra song, since I'm a HUGE jazz buff, and I was amused by watching them impromptu dance in fursuits.
Night game of Predator and Prey started about this time, but I was like "screw that I'm not playing this anymore!" and headed back down to Don's tent and watched the chaos, mainly at Corsi cursing up a storm because he had to play with a bracelet made of bells, broadcasting his location to everyone.
After unsuccessfully trying to talk Don into going to the dance (I fail at flirting REALLY BAD) I head up there, but like BARELY anyone was there, so I wasnt really feeling it that much. Danced for a bit, hung out for the rest of the night at the campfire where I met Dizz who does a hell of a Chef impression (He saw me and was like, OMG THERE ARE OTHER BLACK FURS OTHER THAN BUCKTOWN AND ME!) went back to the tent and passed out for another great night of sleep. (no ninja dreams this time.)
I pretty much stayed in there until it was announced that it was time for Predator and Prey, which I'd been pretty pumped for all day.

Oklacon report, BIG BLOCK OF FRIDAY TEXT.
Posted 15 years agoSo, I've been trying to go to this con for YEARS. Missed out last year because a speeding ticket ate all of my con money.(what kind of cop seriously posts out at an exit ramp?)
Year before that, the student loan payment decided to show up and be like, "hey whats up, I know we haven't talked in a while but I wanna be bffs again."
But anyway, this year, I finally got to go. I was having a bit of anxiety, because at cons far away you have a little bit of anonymity, so if you do something retarded or embarassing its quickly forgotten, but this is LOCAL.
So, I loaded up my hastily packed crap into the back of my ghettomobile, and after a stressed drive up to Watonga because my gps decided it wanted to break up with the car charger, which in turn committed suicide by breaking in half (thank the Lawd for mapquest directions) I managed to make it to the park in one piece in about 3 hours or so.
--
Opening Ceremonies were neat and uneventful, other than me recognizing some furs who I should have met a long time ago, namely Blue and Bucktown, among others. I get my crap out of the car about now.
So. I don't exactly have much camping experience other than, "what the hell do you mean we sleep OUTSIDE!?", so I pretty much overpacked, "like 5 blankets, a sleeping bag and a freshly bought tent. I go and claim a spot in the grass between two other tents and start setting up shop.
I get about halfway through setting it up when I realize that Oklahoma wind is a spiteful bitch, and everytime I looked away to the directions for a split second my tent would take off like a horny kite trying to rape a cloud, forcing me to chase after it much to the entertainment of the furs watching nearby. I declined the first offer of help just out of embarassment. I finally get the stupid thing put together, and I realized that I forgot to buy TENT STAKES. So, now I take the hole damn thing back apart, throw my backpack on it to make sure it doesn't go on an airborne adventure, drive 25 miles to Arcos or Alpos or whatever that store is called, get my stakes, and come back, and start putting this nonsense back together again. Cue second round of entertainment as the rabbit struggles with the tent.
A really nice guy who introduced himself as Don came over and asked me if I needed help. I started to say no, but he was really cute (doh) and I was beyond frustrated so I begrudgingly said yes. Had the tent up in no time, properly staked even.
After that, I was pretty worn out, so I slept for about an hour or two after setting up home base inside, then I walked around and took in the place. It was actually a pretty comfortable park, big open sky and open fields broken up by A frames around its perimeter. I checked out the dealers room briefly, scouted out the fursuiters (so cute!) and then grabbed my sketchpad and started doodling infront of the roost. Overheard some pretty entertaining conversations up there.
Now at this point, I'm still like in anti-social mood, because frankly I didnt know anyone. The only Oklahoma fur that I've actually hung out with on a regular basis was Baralheia and Frostpaw, neither who were there. So, it surprised me when someone mentioned that other people were drawing in the artists alley. I asked her if I was actually allowed to go in there and draw (I remember getting kicked out of the artists alley in MFF for not having a table and drawing there...yeah. >>) and she confirmed yes (I later discovered this to be CutePuppy) and so I headed over to my tent to grab some pencils, but I got distracted by a guy swinging a squeegee at a frisbee in a tree. That's how I met Tobias, Awolfnamedlynx, and a few others whos names I cannot remember because I'm sleepy. We played catch with that frisbee that for a while and got in trouble when one of us tried to jump on the roof to get a frisbee down off of the bathroom roof, which made for some interesting hilarity. That got interrupted by FREE SPAGHETTI, which was fantastic, then I grabbed my pencils like I'd planned and headed over to the artists alley a frame.
--
I think at this point that only Crys and Derrick were in there drawing, I nodded a quick hi and took a spot. About 15 minutes later, in busts Rinzi, and I almost busted up laughing when he yelled, "why the fuck is it so quiet in here...oh its because I'm not here yet" but being the new person I kept it to myself. I was treated to a baked potato by a really sweet fur named Kia.
It was about this time I decided I liked this con much more than the others, because even though its smaller, people here are MUCH, MUCH more sociable and friendly.
I hung out in there for a bit, picking up random bits of conversation (SHOEBOX BADGES) then I headed over to the 1 A frame where I first got to meet Istanbul and the panel of the Knotcast members. There we were treated to some homemade cookies and cheese samplers which were AWESOME (I really wanted some of that wine ;_;) and then I was entertained by the completely random outbursts of hilarity by the panel, Wolff's cuban donkey sex jokes had me laughing so hard I couldn't see.
After that it was about 9, I milled around randomly at the fire, and thats when I first met Corsi, as he sang one of the parodies that he was known for. It was hilarious as expected, and I stuck around to listen to a few more of his stories, fantastic story teller he is.
It was around 10:30 or so, and I heard music, so I went and changed and discovered the fursuiters dance. Now, I'm not the best dancer, but I think I can hold my own, but i didnt just wanna jump out there and bust a move, so I sorta stuck to the side and did the ol' side to side step for a while, and the after that some song played that I liked a LOT, and after that, well, I was all over the dance floor. If I looked stupid I really didn't care, but I had a hell of a time. I danced in there for a good 2 or three hours, and it was another guy and me being the only ones left. Had an absolute blast.
So, by now I'm pretty funky, so I'm like SHOWER. I head to the community commodes and there's already people in there. I've done the whole college living thing so I'm not even remotely shy about just showering in a public restroom, so BAM NAKED SHOWER. As I'm drying off, I heard someone say in my general direction, "DAM, THAT ASS!"
That was slightly embarrassing, if flattering.
I got my shit and slunk back to my tent and possibly had the best damn night of sleep in a long time, and had a dream about ninjas on top of that.
...
...
I do have a pretty nice ass though. I blame the cornbread and soul food.

Posted 15 years agoSo, I'm going! I'm actually going!
I was worried something was going to pop up, and something did. I requested this weekend and monday off back on September 22nd, and I was going to preregister once I got the okay to have those days off.
Well. I did get an answer, and it was a NO. I work for a bank, and the weekend falls right on top of payday, and those days are stupid busy, so in order for me to get those days off, I had to find someone to work my shift for me on Friday and Monday, not an easy task considering that I work 7am to 3:30 and the only viable people I could ask were night shift people, AND they still had to work their shift from 3:30 to 7pm. No one wants to work a 12 hour shift on TWO paydays.
So between the 23rd and the day before yesteday, I was for sure I wouldn't be able to go. My tent was packed and ready, but I just knew that he was going to stay shelved for yet another year. But at the last minute, someone came forward and said they really needed hours and asked if he could work for me.
WELL YES YOU CAN!
So! Oklacon is still on! I didnt get preregistered like I wanted to, but honestly at this point I dont mind paying the extra 15 bucks.
Now. What I am worried about is that this is my first Oklacon. I'm quite nervous that I'm gonna go and completely not meet anyone. I'm coming alone, driving up from Lawton which is about 2 and a half hours away, but I dont want this to be like other bigger cons where I practically walk around for the whole weekend and never get to meet anyone.
I really wanna meet you if you're going! I'm not an artist by any means, but I am bringing my sketchpad and my laptop (I'm planning on finishing Time with the inspiration I get from the park there, only Midnight to go!) so not to sound desperate or anything but LETS BE FRIENDS :D
Look for the black guy in the ninja turtles hoodie :3

Posted 15 years agoI work for a bank.
Yesterday I got paid 8 hours to build a pirate ship out of boxes and art supplies.
Tomorrow I'm going to spend most of the day in pirate garb shooting cannon balls at people.

IF I FORGET I WILL BE MAD.
Gonna complete that split, as soon as I get a scanner.
Posted 15 years agoIf you could see my desk at work, you would first see a big picture of Ashland's face. After that, you'd see a bunch of smaller face pictures where I was practicing drawing different facial expressions.
Then you'd see a sketch of a reference sheet for him. More little mini doodles, and then a clipboard with an Ashland walking down the street taped to the back of it.
Once I get this stuff scanned, I'm creating a new FA account and seperating my art from my music as I had planned. Ashland = new music, Jack = new artwork.
