ITS SO COLD

Akon was....well Akon. Laptop got stolen out of my car, but thats drama thats under the bridge now. Music was temporarily halted, but thankfully for an emergency fund I'd saved I'm back in the composition cloud. Only thing is that I lost my first two FL files for 5:16 and Se7enth Hour, which does make me sad. I also lost all of the scanned artwork for Aurora divide, but I still have the originals so thats not too bad.

Had a really rough week at work and life in general (had a family member pass away this friday and the family is pretty torn up) but its slowly getting better. Funeral will be friday, so thatll be the solace a lot of use could use.

Anyway.

Work on "Time" album is coming along. If you didn't know, I was asked to present music at this years New Music Festival at Cameron University next year. I'm going to be featuring songs from "Aurora Divide", "Time" when its finished, and three classical pieces:

-three/four movement piece for piano and electric bass
-vocal jazz ballad for female alto voice and piano
-some sort of large ensemble piece, I'm thinking percussion ensemble. Not sure yet.

So, wish me luck and lets hope the inspiration continues to play in my favor.

Well, getting all my stuff together, packing snacks for the stupid 5 hour or so drive (Im riding with a guy who drives like a damn snail, itll prolly be like 17 >>) lots of faggot music to blast the whole way, and my laptop and blank CDs to burn ghetto versions of Aurora Divide for my buddies.

Rolling down there with about 15 people between three hotel rooms, packing stupid stuff like glow in the dark nerf guns, alchohol, and all sorta of gaming stuff.

I've been waiting for this weeked for quite a while! Lets gooooooo!

So, I'm composing a 12 track IDM/Breakbeat/Electronic compilation.

Each track will be loosely based on each hour of time, 1 through 12. It's an abstract idea, so who knows where i'll garner inspiration.

The Se7enth Hour will be on that CD project. I'm finishing up the one for hour 5 at the moment, which is named "5:16AM"

I'll get a few track on here as they complete, and then have the whole thing available for download on my fail bandcamp page!

yeah, I haven't been active on FA for months now. That last project really took just about everything out of me, and while I'm incredibly proud of my accomplishment, I can't help but to be disappointed that a handful of people will ever get to hear it. The few reviews that I did get were neutral at best, mostly negative based on not musical issues, but mastering problems that I can't figure out how to correct. When I listen to the music through my speakers that I composed it on, it sounds perfect to my ears as far as volume and mixing goes, so I don't know how to go about fixing this problem.

I've taken a hiatus from composing for the moment, I'm going to finish the last touches for the mock rpg soundtrack, maybe hand out a few CDs to my friends and family, then taking a break until I decide whether to hang up my headphones for good, or try my hand at composition again.

Sorry.

I've got some new music on the way, now that I've finally recovered from exhausting like every musical idea I had for Aurora Divide, so I'm back into writing at a whim. :3

Got some more spaceshippy goodness coming up, tenative title at the moment is Operations Support.

I'll see if I can get it finished soon :D

I've had a few people ask me just exactly how I notate things in FL Studio. It's weird for me to explain, because I know I'm not even using FL Studio the way it's intended (I manually write in all of my effects, trying to use controllers and automations and all that other jargon just confuses the crap out of me.)

Specifically I've had a few people ask me how in the hell I wrote the percussion part for The Constellation Halls of Nascent Ruins if I have to manually write in every single note. I obviously can't explain this in any length of time verbally :x

What I planned is to just make a youtube video of the FL sequence for that song, mute everything but the percussion, and then show them that. Only problem is I need something I can use to record FL Studio while it's playing!

I've been arguing with my roommate about me not "jumping off of the bridge" and taking a chance and going out to try and meet someone who I could pursue a relationship with. So I did some calculations to prove to him that it was a futile effort.

Lawton's population is 92,757.

The amount of white males (I like white guys.) between the ages of 20-34 are 15,442. (Calculated the percent of white people in lawton, and used that percent to calculate the amount of white men from that.)

According to some sources I googled, it looks like in Britain and America, across the board there was an average of %4 to %4.3 percent of men who were exclusively gay.

I was generous and used 10% in my calculations.

10% of 15,442 = 154.7, or rounding up, a total of 158 gay white men in lawton.

Out of those 158 gay men, I can theoretically guesstimate that 75% will be incompatible with me. (Based upon morals, drug use, sexual interest, behaviour, mutual sexual interest, relationship status, etc.)

75% of 158 = 118.5.

158 - 119 (rounding up) = 40.

So, theoretically, theres a total of only 40 men in this town who would be compatible with me.

40 of 15,442 (amount of total white men between the ages of 20-34) = .0021, or %0.2.

Only a fifth of ONE PERCENT of all of the white men in this town are potential candidates for a relationship.

Not. Worth. Looking.

If I were to finish the Mock RPG soundtrack, think it would be feasible to whore myself out to commissions by the beginning of the year? I am sort of hurting for money, but I know people have high standards for theme music. Besides I'd have no idea what to charge.
