Posted 10 years agoI finally made it back to home after the ice storm that froze Dallas and extended the convention an extra day.
This year was the year I joined staff. I worked the afternoon shift in the video game room and ran errands for Con Ops. It was actually a lot of fun to see behind the scenes. I am ready to join again next year even though I am a little tired.
I met up with Crys the Hyrbid <icon:taillone>, Daravel <icon:daravel>, Creature <icon:creatureundertaker>, Kyousuke <iocn:kyousuke> and a newcomer this year, Diego, on Thursday and had a good time hanging out. The girls found Diego's tickle spots by the end of night one and the poor maned wolf never had a chance. Dinner was at the Magic Time Machine and was delicious as always.
Friday, the con began and I started working my butt off to impress the existing staff members. I think I did okay, I certainly kept up with them. I bought a badge from the wonderful RedCoatCat and found a few gifts for some of my friends back home. Dinner was a late night run to In-n-Out. I need to get more burgers next time.
Saturday was much the same. I picked up the badge, found some really cool jewelery and I joined a huge group of 25 for dinner and a Roman Orgy at Magic Time Machine.
Sunday was the last day for the con, I won two pieces at the auction and helped tear down the video game room. All eyes were glued to the weather broadcasts as a nasty cold snap hit Dallas. We all arranged to stay a little longer.
Monday turned into the extended con day. Being proper furries, we made the best of it and had a party and played games while waited for the ice to thaw enough to head home.
I made it home around 5pm today and have been working at getting caught up on my daily life since. I'm ready for next year. Please, let there be good news by then.

23rd year (Happy Birthday!)
Posted 12 years agoToday is by 23rd birthday. I was told once that when you turn the age that the same as you birth date, it's supposed to be a special day. I guess that means I have some extra special plans for today, huh?
Well, depends on how special you find watching movies in front of a fire on a cold day. I like that. For the first time in a long time, I'm not rushing around working on school stuff or checking on friends. I'm just focused on me. Sure it could be warmer (a lot warmer) but the only thing I miss is my dragon who I bet is cursing being cold blooded right now.
Tomorrow I return to working on studio and getting my projects wrapped up before Thanksgiving. I'm excited for this semester to end because I'll get to see my family and friends back home again for a bit and I'll have some free time to see my friends in other towns too.
As for today, I'm just resting. It is something I haven't done without consequences for a while.

Posted 12 years agoHey all. It's been awhile since I've really caught everyone up as to what is up in my life.
I'm in my third semester of grad school working towards my Master's in Architecture with a focus in Historic Preservation. I love historic buildings and think that they are a true testament of us as people and as a nation. My current studio project focuses on the reuse of a 1924 auditorium in Ft. Worth, TX. The 4000 seat building was built by the KKK! History and politics, yay!
I've been able recently to come to more meets held by
Panhandlefurs_TX . They're a great good of furs and I've made some great friends. I've also fallen a bit more in love with the Texas landscape and grown jealous of 
for his breath taking view (but not his long ass, bumpy drive). I can't wait for the next meet and I look forward to seeing my new friends again.
Personally, I now live alone in my nice old duplex made from a 1925 mansion in the historic district of my city. My only neighbors are awesome but they're moving out into the country soon. I'll miss them but I have been given an open invite to come and visit. All my school friends are doing well as is my family. I just wish their was more time in the day to spend with them, to be honest I'd just sleep during that time too.

Posted 12 years agoSo TFF was a week ago and I had a great time. I was able to spend some quality time with CC. You'd think since we're roommates that this would be simple but our schedules are just too different. I enjoyed it all. Saw Okie Dokie Coyote dance in a cheer leading outfit. Cute. I did help at the auction a clean sweep of the pieces I bid on. A great weekend and I can't wait for next year.
In rl, I had an interview for a summer internship at a Houston architecture firm and I think it went well. The interviewer was impressed with my background in hand rendering and traditional design. Only bad thing is getting the internship takes me away from home for the summer and I'll miss a lot.
Oh and to top off today's theme of art and surprises, I found porn of my roomie... not something I expected to find since he's so private with his personal life.

I take the good with the bad.
Posted 13 years agoOk so a lot has happened recently in real life.
Good: I'm in Paris after touring London for two days. My blog address will be posted and I'll update that with pics and stories regularly. At least that is my plan. I'll be overseas for six weeks then return home.
Bad: My dad died this morning back in my hometown. He passed quickly and peacefully and I was able to say goodbye before I left. It won't really hit me that he's gone until I get home in a month and a half.

At this stage in life.
Posted 13 years agoAt this stage in life, most people can say they've had a few relationships, kissed a few people and maybe are close to finding the one.
Yes, I realize that I'm only 21 and still have the rest of my life to find someone. It just I've never had the above. My only actual relationship ended on less than better terms so I'm wary of anyone who says they think I'm cute or out right like me in a romantic way. Anyone I've been interested in dating either isn't interested in me beyond friendship (Believe me hearing the whole let's just be friends and not even getting a chance is soul crushing after awhile.) or are already dating someone who they really care about and I'm never willing to sacrifice someone else's happiness for my own.
It begins to wear on you constantly being the third wheel and then getting left out of couples activities. and then being told, "well, we didn't invite you along cause we didn't want it to be awkward." or in single speak, "we want to suck face without you being there."
Even worst I'm one of those few guys whose dick doesn't think for him, well most of the time. Flirting, good looking bodies and teasing doesn't do anything to me unless I get to know the person. Sure I've been able to fake it enough as to let the odd drunk party-er down as to why I didn't want to bump uglies with them.
So when I meet someone I find attractive, I get to know them and see what they're really about. I become their friend and usually become a best friend pretty quickly. The problem comes when I ask them if they'd like to go out for dinner or spend more time together. Most just see me as a good guy who's great for protection and talking to but just not the guy they're interested in.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat and you get my love life. Barely an existence as a always the best friend never the boy friend.
And excuses, I've heard them all. From the it's not you, it's me to God, doesn't want me to date right now. (I wish I was exaggerating with this one.) But last weekend in the middle of getting another round of excuses from someone I really care about as to why he loved me but wasn't in love, he stopped and called bullshit on himself. He did something that no one's ever done for me. He said he'd give me a chance. He was terrified of destroying our friendship and it being awkward afterwards. But he still said yes. Even after he said he'd try and think on whether it could work, I still have my reservations. I don't want him to date me cause he feels sad or that it's owed to me. I want him to choose to cause he'd like to get to know me better.
In the end, I want him to be able to care about me without qualifying it. It may not go beyond a dinner and a movie or the weekend lunches we already do as buds but I tried my best.
Just venting a bit. I still have about two weeks to wrap up all school projects and drama (same for him) so I just needed to let the heart have its say then usher it quickly off stage so i can focus on the classes and tests that are trying their damnest to keep me in school for another year.
