ACHOO!!!

Hey guys! I want to start of by apologizing for the sudden disappearance. I've had a LOT of things happening in real life and I had lost the motivation/interest in popping back on. To my friends, I am sorry if I had you worried. I am doing just fine. In fact, better than fine in a lot of places.
While i can't say I will be as active as I was right away, I am starting to ease myself back into the swing of things. Know some of you have been noticing me favoriting stuff at times and I'm going to start catching up on my notes soon so don't worry. As for Skype, I will hop on when I can but I may not always be responsive. Feel free to drop me a message and I'll respond when I can.

Time for a redo! Launching F.A. Writers 2.0
Posted 11 years agoSince
fawriters crashed and burned badly after I misplaced the password, forgot the email assigned to it, and the moderator we had added to the staff team wouldn't respond to me requesting the info and essentially took over instead, I finally decided to relaunch the group. The whole reason I set up FA Writers in the first place was to create a gathering place for fellow writers and to facilitate a friendly environment where writers could request critique on their works since so few FA members take the time to read our works and provide feedback. I plan on facilitating the group myself this time. It's a big task but I should be able to manage it.
I hope to get more of the FA community involved this time around so I will be posting monthly prompts to try and keep the work flow going. Hopefully if things pick up like they did with the last group, we can have a new place for artists and readers to gather and enjoy the written word. I would appreciate any promoting you guys can give and if you are a writer as well, hop on over and join in!

Story writing/editing Commissions, who's interested?
Posted 11 years agoI recently uploaded a preview of a short story I'm currently working on as a personal project for two reasons: First to get some input on how it was going so far and Second, so i had a sample of my writing for commissions.
I've been wanting to create a secondary flow of income for a while so I had a separate way to support the artwork I like to get and, seeing as I'm no good at all with drawing myself, this is the best way of doing it. I've got a few more things to pin down before I'm ready to take these but I want to see who all is interested. So here's what I have for available commission options:
Copy Editing - Pretty cut and dry. I will review your paper/story/other document for basic grammar and spelling. As this takes little to no time at all for me and really doesn't involve discussing any changes for the work, I figured $1.00 per page is a more than fair asking price.
Standard Editing - This one is a little more involved. Not only will you get the copy editing, but I can look over the work for context and consistency as well as provide input. As this will involve more time and deeper digging into the work, the pricing on this is negotiable but starts at $1/page and goes up depending on what all you want me to do.
Story Commissions - You provide me with characters, a general theme, and desired length and I will write out a story for them. I will create a form for these just so I can organize it better and will work close with you during the writing process to make sure it's going the way you'd like. I'm willing to write most themes so what I won't write are: Cub in adult situation, scat/watersports/vomit, Rape/non-consenting situations. There are admittedly some fetishes out there that I am not familiar with so if you want somethign along those lines I may be bugging you a little more for feedback as I go. I'm starting these off at $5/page of 12pt Times Roman font.
I'll be starting with a small number of slots on these and won't open new ones until they're completed. I've seen far too many artists get burned for taking on too big of a case load and it won't be any better for me. Payments for all commissions will be invoiced upfront via paypal but the invoice will not be sent until I'm ready to start yours. This way, if something comes up and I can't start on your commission, you don't get burned.
I will be opening this within the week so if you're interested, comment below so I can alert you when these go live. Also, any input or suggestions on these commissions and their pricing is much appreciated.

*Input requested* Gauging Auction Interest
Posted 11 years agoI've been kicking around the idea of Win a Night With or YCH style auctions but I wanted to gauge my watcher's interest. I know plenty of y'all like the free art raffles I run from time to time but there are limits to the raffles as far as personal funds, availability, and types of pics. With auctions, depending on how well they go, I may be able to offer better quality prizes or even multiple prizes if there's enough interest. But I'm hesitant to start any up without knowing if anyone would be remotely interested in them. Here's how each of them would work:
YCH Auction - Preset character(s), Situations, and poses. You bid to participate in them. i.e. Kira snuggling in pajamas w/ your character.
Win a Night With... - Preset character(s) but situation and rating is in your control.
So with that being said, let me know if any of you would be interested in these kind of auctions. If not, then I will abandon this idea and continue as I have been.

Just a reminder for when FA goes down...
Posted 11 years agoI am also on Weasyl and Inkbunny. During my day off yesterday I spent a significant amount of time starting to migrate my gallery to Inkbunny. Weasyl is a different story as there's no easy way that I know of to bulk upload and given the amount of pics I have to upload (A rather surprising 283. God I have a lot of stuff XD) it will be a very, very, very, VERY, long time before I can import a copy of everything into Weasyl (unless anyone knows of a way to bulk transfer). While FA is STILL my primary gallery, I plan to keep all three sites active going forward. Not that it would have helped much this go around given they were hit pretty hard too (and still appear to be. Inkbunny keeps coming in and out on me). So feel free to watch me on either site as a back-up.
Also I have been trying to be more active on Skype and Hangouts lately so you can catch me there from time to time as well. Problem is, I only have a few chatter boxes on Skype and only one of y'all on Hangouts so needless to say I get BORED on there. So come entertain me you goof balls XD
Anyways, all my contact details for each site/service are below so hit me up!
Inkbunny: https://inkbunny.net/jaxedge (Upload progress: 100%, over 60% hidden awaiting details)
Weasyl: https://www.weasyl.com/~jaxedge (Upload Prgoress: 5%)
Skype: Jaxedge
Hangouts: Jaxedge87[at]gmail.com
The links are also in my journal header and on my main page here on FA so no excuses for not finding them! :p

Almost 10 years... Time to get Hitched - Gofundme
Posted 11 years agoWow, it's almost surprising to think of it. I've been with my girl since May of 2005 and have been living with her in our own place for the last three years. Everything's been going great and I love her to death. So we've decided to make it official and get engaged. My plan is to make it happen on our ten year aniversary which means I have until May 2015 to purchase the ring. I'm already starting to save money but given the ring we decided on, I'm gonna need a little help to make my May goal. So I opened up a gofundme account to help raise the $3200 I'm gonna need for the ring (It's set to 4000 to cover their charge plus any taxes and additional crap that will likely come up). So if you want to help me out, go to http://www.gofundme.com/dn6hyg (wepay required) or you can donate to my paypal at Jaxedge87[at]gmail.com . You can also see the ring on the same page if you're curious. Any help is appreciated even if you donate only a dollar.
Also, if there's any artists who want to work with me on auctions or anything to help raise the money, let me know and we'll work something out!
Thanks everyone for reading and even if you can't donate, please spread the word. Every little bit helps ^^

Rule 34 Project + Seeking Artists
Posted 11 years agoThank you everyone for all the great feedback on my Rule 34 journal. I got a lot of good characters to sift through and I've narrowed it down to 15. As I didn't get many male characters in the group, these lovely ladies will be paired up with Drew (M), Neon (M), Jamie (H), or CC (H). I will be keeping the progress of this project here because I would like to make all these pairings happen at some point. So here's the list:
RULE 34 PROJECT LIST
Catwoman (Batman)
Cheetara (Thundercats)
Cortana (Halo)
Harly Quinn (Batman)
Jenny (Bucky O'Hare)
Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit)
Krystal Fox (Starfox) -
bakedgewds
Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
Ninjara (TMNT)
Poison Ivy (Batman)
Renamon (Digimon)
Rouge the Bat (Sonic)
Tsunade (Naruto)
Vinyl Scratch + Octavia (MLP)
While I have some people in mind for this, I'd like to get some feedback on potential artists. So feel free to name artists or if you yourself are interested in working on any of these, leave or note me a quote and we'll work something out.

For future free art and 50/50 offers
Posted 11 years agoI've seen a few artists do that and I think it might be a good idea for me to do the same. The purpose of this journal is to make a data base of volunteers for any future offers I may have. There have been a fair amount of times that I have been considering a two character work and I had no idea on who to put in it. That's where this journal comes in. If you're interested in having a character in any future works I may commission, fill the form out below.
It should be pretty self explanatory but just in case here's what you do. First, copy the form into your comment. Then fill out your username and your references (can have more than one). For commitment, mark whether you want to be considered for free works, 50/50 works (i pay half you pay half), of both. For rating, mark what ratings you're interested in; General/Mature/Adult. Lastly, mark which of my characters you're interested in. A link to my character list is in the header with all their refs loaded up.
Fill it out and next time I am considering a work I will reference this first and contact you if I want to get a pic with you. I will eventually link this in the header for future use.

Artist Blacklist
Posted 12 years agoI am reusing an old journal here for my own future reference. Basically the concept of the blacklist is for my use when chosing an artist to commission. Typically I don't have many bad experiences with artists and if I do,most of them are minor. This blacklist is for artists I have had a bad enough experience with that I don't want to commission them again anytime soon. Since I tend to go back to previous artists I've commissioned, this will be a good reference for me and I will also notate the reason I added them to the list. This is only meant for REFERENCE, not drama. I will be keeping my posts professional here and I ask that if anyone wants to voice their opinions about my posts to do the same. That is all.

Request Box, Status: Under Construction
Posted 12 years agoWelcome to my request box! Because I tend to order commissions from people with no idea on which character to enter, which character to include, or what theme to include, I came up with an idea: Why not let my watchers request something? So I've constructed this journal to give this a try and see how things pan out.
When I open up for requests, I'll post a new journal with a link to this box. In that journal as well as in a comment to this journal, I'll post the amount of characters I'm looking to have in the commission I'm purchasing. I'll also post specific details such as rating, theme, or what not if I have one. All you guys have to do is volunteer using the form below. Similar to my monthly raffle, if the form is not used, I will not consider your entry until you fix it. These will NOT be first come first serve. I will be selecting entrants based on my interest in your request/character. To reduce repeats, I will keep a list of requests that I've previously accepted and will not select those users unless there are no other requests entered.
***This will be adjusted from time to time to accommodate the style commission I'm purchasing***

Contest Idea Drop-Box
Posted 12 years agoThis is a drop box for my future contests! Since I tend to come up with theme ideas at the drop of a hat at odd times (like during an already open raffle XD) I figured I'd make a place to put my ideas. This also doubles as a place for my watchers to post their own ideas as well. So have fun and post away. If I like it, I'll make a contest out of it in the future. If i don't think it's contest worthy but feel it's art worthy, I'll add it to my Art Idea Drop Box. So have fun and post away!

Future Free Art Raffle Input
Posted 12 years agoApril is around the corner and since the March raffle prize is done, it's time to start looking at April's raffle. As I found from last month it looks like one of the keys to maintain a fair amount of participation is to have the journal pimping requirement so I will keeping that in the April raffle. But I have a few ideas for the next raffle and I want to know what you guys think:
First: More specific character selection. I've found that opening my entire character list tends to make things a little confusing. So I'd like to make only certain characters available. That being said, I'd like your opinion on who should be available.
Second: Themed raffle. So far I've only asked for you guys to write what you wanted the picture of. But I've found that most of the time you guys choose to have me and the artist wing it. Not that I'm complaining because I've had great results with wing-it commissions and the winners have been happy with it too. so my question here is what kind of themes would you like to see or do you want me to keep it opened theme?
Third: Donations for more tickets. This would be completely optional and would grant any donators an extra number per a set dollar amount (ie 1 ticket/$1). The benefit to donations would be the ability to commission extra pictures or to increase the quality of artwork. Would anyone donate if I did this? The donations would go towards the artist only which while help in my next two suggestions
Fourth: Artist in need as featured artist. There are plenty of people who are in dire straights and could use financial help. I typically make a point to help those in need and it would put a little more...depth into these raffles in my opinion. Would be for a good cause and the winner still gets free art. Seems like a win win to me.
Fifth: Previous winner buy-ins/exclusions. I'm a little split on this idea since I feel anyone should be able to enter but I also feel it's unfair to my other watchers if previous winners get a second win. Which means i can either leave it completely open and risk a repeat winner, I can exclude the past winners, or i can have the past winners donate for a ticket. The first of these is pretty self explanatory so I won't elaborate. But the other two are tricky. I feel bad if I exclude past winners but it also eliminates the ability to have multiple winners. so my suggested solution is to have a ticket buy in for repeat winners. If the donate a set amount (would not exceed $5), repeat winners would get a ticket to participate. That way if they win at least there was some monetary input versus someone who won again for free.
Let me know what you think on any of these point.I'm starting to get these raffles down to a science so now I'm just tweaking a little. I will announce the April raffle soon!
Cleanup: My Watch List
Posted 12 years agoFor the next couple of days or so I plan on cleaning out my watch list. I decided to post this journal in case any of the people I unwatch come o my page to ask me why I unwatched them (not a common thing I'm sure but I like to cover my bases). the reason I'm cleaning up my watch list is that I've come to find that clearing out 1000+ submits and journals every few days is just annoying. I've gotten to the point of nuking them just because I don't have the time to look over them. So in effect, most of the people I actually want to watch or follow their journals on are being ignored because of the influx of stuff I have little to no interest in. So with that I've decided to clean up.
If you've been unwatched, it's could be for any of these reasons:
1. Art topics i have no interest in: I know that some artists go on little kicks of certain types of work as a way to appeal to more audience (ie inflation or vore). Nothing wrong with that. but if that topic has become more of a norm than an intermittent thing, I'll be unwatching. Nothing wrong with those themes, they just don't appeal to me and I don't have the patience to sift through a 15+ art drop of that theme from that artist every few days.
2. No art posts in ages: this one more specifically applies to journals. Like myself, I understand if there are dry spells on the influx of art/writing. But if there hasn't been any art posting in half a millennia but a crud ton of journals (as if your FA has become a blog), unless you're journalling about something that interests me, I will be unwatching. Journal writing is great, don't get me wrong, but with all the other mediums out there that I unfortunately have to pay attention to as well because of my job industry (facebook, twitter, google+, and pretty much any other craptastic social networking tool out there hat becomes popular), I just can't be flitting through hourly journals of a person's day on here as well.
3. Dead accounts: Pretty self explanatory. No posts and no journals in the last year and a half, unwatched. this is more just to get that damn high watch number down on my end but will also get rid of the occasional "account has moved" or "closed account" journals some of these users post.
I think that pretty much covers it. Basically if I unwatched you and you noticed it, it's most likely for reason 1 and if not then reason 2.
For my watchers, this pretty much doesn't affect you. However, if I do unwatch you and you are watching me, please LET ME KNOW so I can correct it. I feel that if you're watching me and my occasional journal posts and annoyances, that I should have to suffer through yours in exchange :p I'm joking but please, if I unwatch you and you have been watching me, let me know and I will rewatch. Considering most of the people who actually watch me also chat with me on here, this is likely to be a rare occurrence.
AIGHT!! Enough procrastinating. time to get back to it. Cheers!
