General | Posted 10 months agolike the title says, I'm thinking about doing something I had not done in a long time. Especially given what happened to me in 2023 with the hand/wrist injury. But though its been slow I do feel my arm recovering and its getting more comfy to at least sketch. I'd like to get back to coloring full on again and more frequently though .3.;
In any case, I CAN'T say it is a promis, we'll have to see the situations leading up to it go 'v';

General | Posted 11 months agoFA has tag blocking now, and while I don't ever intend to step back from what I usually draw, all future submissions will have more tagging involved ^v^~!
Also: I am quite happy that (despite it taking forever...) I am able to do a colored image that had the same complexity, However it took me a while because I had to rest my hand a bit as opposed to one sitting like I prefer ._.;
Still, my hands don't feel as inflamed as before so there's that, I almost forgot what that felt like! ^U^!~

General | Posted 11 months agoLast night, as I was about to sleep, my oldest nephew called me and 
Justathereptile to come down stairs, said it was an emergency. We rushed down hearing the sounds of crying. We got down and saw one of our dogs, the oldest one, Digger still and lifeless. Further confirmed when one of our nieces explained him letting out a sigh and just stopping, and even further confirmed when mom said she had witnessed it too.
We knew this was going to happen at some point. He was 12 years old, maybe 13. Just didn't expect this to happen so soon. Trying to look on the brightside, I expressed that he did live a full life, and died peacefully at old age, which is typically a far better outcome then some of the tragedies that had unfold during the earlier years of my own life.
I remember when we first got home with him too. Mom and Dad picked me up from college and we took him to get cleaned up to get rid of that kennel smell, and at that point I was just praying he wouldn't vomit on me sense he was getting car sick. Seemed like we were in the clear after I finally got home but, nope NOW he pukes, lol.
I remember having to keep an eye on him too, and I would sit in the living room and play tug of war with him, and even taught him to sit when I snapped my fingers. He was a pretty smart dog but also willfull, which isn't a surprise given he was a bird-dog, a pointer specifically.
His willfulness did cause some clashes though, he'd get into the garbage and I'd often have to lock the door to me and Justa's media room to keep him out, and sometimes he'd just fo stuff you know was definitely not an accident if ya knew him. Despite this we loved him.
After dad's passing, he got worse mentally, he didn't eat very much, but I also figured it was due to his age cause he was around 10, 11 at this point already. He moved alot slower, more hesitant than he used to, ya know typical old-animal shit. even called him Ol' Man at times as a fun joke.
He's up there with Dad, Big Bro, and Keith now.
RIP Digger.

2024 The Year of Healing
General | Posted 11 months agoWith only a few days left of 2024, I gotta say...while it isn't one of the best years, it is a far cry compared to what happened in 2023...I am of course speaking on a personal note.
To recap:
2023 was horrid, I lost my father, my pet lizard, and my older brother all within 2 short months. This pain is still felt, and while I know even now I have lost Uncle Keith just yesterday as of this writing, I am willing to accept what has occurred, and just keep pressing forward (slowly of course.) I had a mark that scared me half to death (thankfully it was not cancerous, and the doc removed it anyway.) which even if there was nothing to fear, me and the sun sure as fuck ain't friends no more.
Don't get me wrong, 2023 was a great year productively speaking; did ALOT of images with color, I felt I FINALLY had a shading style I like (and still do) and I felt I finally got good at inking, and then BAM! I overworked my hands, I injured my drawing hand because stupid me was wearing an arm brace while drawing (ironic given that I was trying to prevent it in the first place) which all but stopped me to begin with...
and THEN I injured the other hand a week later trying to pick up the slack while the other rested. 2023 just wanted to give me on last kick before laughing its way out to the exit after causing so much pain. I spent the remainder of the year terrified at the idea that I could possibly no longer draw, to no longer hold a pencil, the idea of not being able to express ideas, or just generally fun shit, or generate concept art, or anything productive, or not even ever to game or anything I was made to do had given me grim thoughts, which were short lived. Thankfully 2024 has certainly been better.
I would learn 3 months into 2024 that feeling started to come back into my fingers, that the carpal tunnel was more or less a secondary symptom of inflammation. Inflammation that happens because of far too much sugar and other crap in my diet (I do love me chocolate and sweets at times) So I decided if I wanted to heal, if I wanted to get better I'd have to cut it out limit calorie intake etc, it was NESSECARY in order to keep going. Turns out I also lost a lot of weight because I cut back on calories and sugar (I did eat stuff that actually mattered though, so no worries.) But that isn't all I did either
I did everything as well such as getting arm braces for sleeping, resting. The boss at work was also very accommodating allowing me to get a special vertical mouse for work (which is awesome, totally recommend.) and providing some chi oil to help with the inflammation. I didn't do everything correctly at first, I would've likely had a good idea but I had no health insurance at the time, so I couldn't go see a doctor (kinda hard to get it, and I am mistrusting of putting my personal info out there, a mistrust people DO NOT take seriously enough.) If I wasn't doing anything, I was healing.
I had a few scares worried I was relapsing, only starting to realize, yeah healin' is supposed to hurt sometimes, it'd fluctuate, getting sore, than getting better, than less sore, etc. It'd start over in the next stage and get better.
Currently still healing, but I have a greater confidence in doing the things I love doing again, able to play videogames with my niblings (the term for both nieces and nephews, seriously that is a real word lol)
I can draw again, and ink and color (still hesitant about inking and coloring but I know that WILL get better so long as I am careful.
I wanna say I appreciate all the support that I've been getting from everyone, and I am grateful for it ! thanks for being patient with me and all the stuff I've been doin through, I am so grateful I got you peeps around ^v^!~ thank u!
But I got to also give glory to the Big Guy up stairs. Cause when he gives you a gift, he never really takes it away, and that aspect is likely why my injuries were not as serious as I feared, did it take a long time to get to this point, hell yes it did, but as the old saying goes; it could've been MUCH worse, and he's the reason I haven't fallen down as hard as I should have, with the friends I have around me, which I am so grateful and happy to have.
2023 should've been the year I went from a little red leezord to a monstrous draconic abomination it should've been the era of the 'Black Flame'. 2024 has proven that it doesn't have to be, that it won't be.
Not taking 2024 personally into account, yeah it was a shitty year .3.; lot of tornadoes, lot of horrible disasters, toxic political nastiness (I hate election years...) but I ain't gonna get into that cause I don't wanna!
I hope 2025 will be a happier year for me. ^v^ I think I'll be able to finally finish the Primal Rage: Final Battle, been working on and off on that as of late due to everything going on, and after that imma focus more on my MUGEN and stuff which gives me more motivation to focus on my cast more.

RIP Uncle Keith
General | Posted 11 months agoSo I got a call from mom just minutes ago...Uncle Keith passed away. Apparently he died in his sleep, there wasn't anything apparently wrong with him.
I find I'm becoming waay to familiar with occurrences like this...because I've definitly loss count by this point, which is..again highly disturbing.
The most I can do is remember Keith for how fun of a guy he was. Figure this year wasn't gonna let me walk off free without doing something stupid, even though this isn't the first loss of the year. At least it was peaceful, and I'm certain he's in a far better place now, which gives me some comfort. I'm gonna miss him...

A warning to everyone who draws: TAKE BREAKS, DON'T STRESS YOUR HANDS! Or you'll be spending a years worth of recovering like I'm doing, assuming you didn't actually get carpal tunnel. Mine was a symptom of inflamed tissues and junk that wasn't in the tunnel dealt with numbness for almost 3-5 months before it went away I still have inflammation going on but it's healing.
So take a break rest, stretch, warm up before you do. Leezord don't like it when people give up doing things they love like art, especially when it's due to a sudden disability!!
So please take care of yourself, if the damage isn't permanent you will be taking a long time to recover, and it is gonna be some time for me to where I can get back to where I was, as I do feel my work has suffered a bit because of it.
ALSO: Don't wear arm braces when drawing, I'm certain that was how this happend in the first place, ironically to AVOID carpal tunnel! General | Posted a year agoSo I just woke up not 3-5 mins ago and popped on to see this news come up....
I...honestly have no idea what to say....none at all. To be honest, the most I can say is that I wish him the absolute best to his family given I know the pain of loss myself.
I didn't know the guy personally, but I remember when I first arrived here back in 2008, that was 16 years ago, I had spent less and less time on DeviantArt, and this site felt like the only place at the time were I felt I had ALOT of freedom. things I likely wouldn't of ever been allowed to do elsewhere.
Despite all it's controversial changes and rules. FA still felt like a home to me, and as you can tell I still use it to this day.
I honestly don't have too many thoughts on this except...thank you for providing a place where I can have fun.

I...honestly have no idea what to say....none at all. To be honest, the most I can say is that I wish him the absolute best to his family given I know the pain of loss myself.

An update on life-wrists-
General | Posted a year agoCurrently my wrist just feel mild discomfort, I was able to sketch quite a bit yesterday but I think now I'm just waiting for my hand strength to return and f coruse stil feel discomfort but otherwise I'm ok.

Senate passed the KOSA Bill CONTACT YOUR REPRESENATIVE!

If you're American, contact you representative, cause clearly the Senate don't give two fucks about you (well neither do) even so look up your state rep and tell them to stop this bill from being voted on if you ever wanna be able to create or self express ever again online.
