Art is Wonderful!
Posted 14 years agoI've commissioned a few pieces of art lately, pictures and badges, of Jeter, my jackalope character. I have a set idea in my mind what he looks like (and thanks to my very limited drawing abilities, a head sketch). I know what his personality is, his quirks are.
Having said that, it has been a real treat seeing how other artists visualize my furry little brainchild. I am enjoying seeing the many faces of Jeter!

Con-Found-It!!
Posted 14 years agoFor better (hopefully not worse) I am registered for IndyFurCon.....I've got my hotel room booked as well.....so I am going....what am I getting myself into?!?!?!?
I'm sure it will be fun, it will be different, I must remember to take my camera and I'll find out what a furry event is in person.
Between August and now, however, is a bloody cargo plane load of work/home crap I have to take care of...ah well, such is life.
If anyone is actually reading my journals (thank you, although I'm sure they're pretty boring) and is going to IFC this year, drop me a shout if you like.

bleah.....
Posted 14 years agoSick....
Severely stuffed sinuses, extreme lassitude and I'm coughing up phlegm in all the colors of the rainbow.....yay for spring colds!
On the upside, I got my order of soaps from Contact today. Unfortunately the only one I can actually smell at this time is the Supermint (the scent of which is great, even to my limited olfactory powers).

Con-volutions!
Posted 14 years agoWell, after accepting the fact that I would most likely not get to attend even a local con this year, a co-worker has asked if I can work a day for them (with said asker offering to take a day of mine). Thanks to some creative manipulation of the schedules (and the rubberstamp of my supervisor), I think I will be able to get to at least Sat. & Sun. of IndyCon.
If so, this will be my first furry convetion ever (good lord, what am I getting into?!?!, lol) and I must say I'm looking forward to it. If any other Midwestern furs are going, drop me a comment. I'd love to know if other OH/IN/KY folks are going to make the trip.

Blatant Self-Promotion Time!
Posted 14 years agoThanks to those who've favorited the photographs in my gallery! I appreciate you taking the time to check out my work and if you'd like to see more, feel free to browse my store sites on Zazzle:
Natural Inclinations:
www.zazzle.com/nat_ink
This store features products with my nature and wildlife photography on them.
Renn_Fare's Manor:
www.zazzle.com/renn_fare
This is my original store that has some photography in it but features a wider variety of subjects: pirates, zombies, cooking, quriky science, literature, medieval madness and various hoilday themed products. The sample items I've gotten myself to check for quality are great and I'll post some pics of them in my gallery soon.
Someone from Europe bought one of my bumperstickers recently and the fact that somewhere in France there's a car driving around with my 'Honk If You Love Zombies' design just makes me grin!

Lame Poetry Hour: Volume One
Posted 14 years agoGreetings All...just when you thought things couldn't get worse, Jete's Journals proudly present the Lame Poetry Hour series. For your eyebleeding enjoyment, we present a short work I composed one afternoon while strolling in the wildwoods of WNC.
'Walking'
Though there's no sign any have passed;
I wonder who has walked here last?
A whitetail buck with stately tread;
A crown of antlers on his head.
Or dark as night with shaggy hair;
Perhaps it was a great black bear.
A bronze and russet turkey hen;
Might have wandered through this glen.
Yes, there's no sign any have passed;
But I wonder who has walked here last....

There, mock as ye see fit...

Exploring the Fandom....
Posted 14 years agoThe more I find out, the more I realize I had no concept of what the furry fandom encompassed! I'm just scratching the surface on FA and finding the work of some incredible artists (yay internet for being a virtual gallery for us all!).
One thing I have done is taken the plunge and commissioned a fursuit of my character 'Jeter'. On the one hand I am excited about this: I am looking forward to seeing him 'in the fur' so to speak and honing my performing skills while in suit. I've always enjoyed acting/performing and look foward to adding fursuiting to my acting arsenal.
The other part of my brain is screaming: "I'm spending how much!?!?!?!" This is the part that I'm forcing into a straight-jacket and locking in a small padded room in the back of my head. One good thing about being of mature years is that I am now fortunate enough to have discretionary spending funds to use for frivolous things. It's my dotage by heck and I'm going to enjoy it!
I really like working with Lacy & Nick, they've been very helpful and receptive to communicating with a 'newbie' to the fandom and the look of their suits is fantastic. I'm sure all of you have seen them but if not check out their website: www.fursuiting.com
I'm also digging further into the treasure trove that is YouTube. If anyone has suggestions of fursuiting 'how to' videos/tutorials (note: I'm looking for performing rather than making tips), please give me a shout out on my FA page and thanks in advance!
Also any other Midwestern furs who'd like to stop by and say hello are more than welcome to!
