fursuit relisted and a note about professionalism
Posted 9 years agoso i've relisted the fursuit i have for sale, because we didn't clear reserve the first time. that's pretty standard, and the new auction is here: https://www.furbuy.com/auctions/1090094.html
however, i've received several nasty comments about how, apparently, relisting is unprofessional and rude. so i'd like to address that in a more public way, since everyone can see those comments and take them out of context.
the person who is upset with me said that i should have accepted their offer because it was "at bid" price, but the beginning bid is nowhere near what i want or deserve to make from such an intricate art project. it is set purposefully low to encourage bidding. that, in no way, makes it my responsibility to accept any offers i do not feel are appropriate or enough... NOR does it obligate me to set the starting bid higher in order to appease people who don't want to pay a fair amount for my work.
artists do this all the time. they also relist without contacting every, single bidder to inform them. this is standard business practice, and deciding that makes me unfair or rude is ridiculously unprofessional. it also appears that the user went to friends to spread nasty rumors about me in order to hurt my business, which is ludicrously rude and inappropriate.
the person upset with this practice never actually placed a bid at all; only commented to ask for information. i DID miss that comment, and i'll own up to that: i should have replied in a timely fashion. but i'm only human, and i am allowed to mistakenly forget to comment without being deemed unprofessional, rude, and undeserving of appropriate payment for my time and skill.
that's really all. i just wanted to nip this in the bud and make sure it was WELL understood that those comments are unfounded and, honestly, incredibly rude and presumptuous. pay artists for their work, and if you're not willing to meet their prices, don't complain when they don't sell things to you at a discount just because you didn't pay attention to the reserve price and rules for the site.

just some climate change facts
Posted 9 years agomethane has a warming potential that is 86 times that of carbon. cattle alone produce over 150 million tons of methane a day, nearly equal to that of natural gas extraction, according to the epa. in a un press release, the 2014 climate summit reported that the reduction of methane emissions would produce immediate and tangible results with regard to reversing or slowing climate change.
nitrous oxide has a global warming potential 296 times that of carbon, and the raising of livestock is directly responsible for 65% of human-related nitrous oxide emissions.
if we halted the use of petroleum products today, we would still exceed our 565-gigaton co2 equivalent by 2030, from the raising of livestock alone.
everyone eating all the animal products they want is no longer an option. it is not sustainable. do you understand what will happen? what is already happening? do you understand the consequences of this? why are you not panicking? because i sure as hell am.
just... holy shit, please, for the love of the entire earth, stop adding to the demand for animal products. we are out of time. and i'm terrified.

life update and commission info
Posted 9 years agoso just to get it out of the way, i am definitely open for commissions of any and all kinds. i am hopefully going to be more available and less... art blocked, and i'm going to try to commit to drawing more. we'll see. mental illness is a fun ride.
icons and sketches start at 5 dollars
flat colored sketches or uncolored, simple lineart start at 15 dollars
flat colored lineart starts at 20 dollars
...you get the gist. any larger projects than simple colored sketches, icons, etc should note me for info! i would also love to do some more animated commissions, so hit me up if that's your thing!
i'm also totally willing to do pay-what-you-want things for any amount, given prompts and ideas... and i always have adoptable designs for sale
now for the life update...
it has been a very rocky few months for me, but i feel like i'm starting to get a little solid ground beneath my feet. there's not a lot of updates, actually...
let's see. roommate has a job likely lined up (or 2?) and it'll be working with animals, so that's good. i am about to put up another fursuit i just finished that will be for sale.
aaaaand i had my first appointment with a therapist today, which was... jarring and overwhelming, frankly, but i'm trying. i guess i better or things aren't going to much improve. still trying to convince myself they can.
she seemed very nice and understanding and didn't write me off the way my last attempted therapist did. specializes in gender shit and, to my pleasant surprise, borderline. we talked about it a bit. talked about my parents and family. mostly, that got concerned and alarmed looks and "oh wow" comments from her... which was oddly validating. most people just don't believe me.
have a second appointment on the 20th. insurance only covers some of it, so i'll be likely trying to really move some adopts and art soon to help foot the bill. hopefully i'll get a referral to an endocrinologist sometime and can (F I N A L L Y) start this whole... medical transition thing.
i'm still rattled. but i guess progress isn't overnight.
i'm so tired.

newsflash transphobes!
Posted 9 years ago(copypaste from elsewhere because i felt like posting it here, although it's been adapted to be more generic.)
being told that you're wrong - even if the tone is harsh, even if multiple people tell you over and over, even if there is cursing or yelling - is not oppression. and thinking it is makes it obvious that you have no actual understanding of what oppression really is.
you are not being bullied. you are not being harmed. no one is calling you slurs, and you're not going to get jumped outside for being transphobic. if anything, you will be supported, and the Big Bad Trans will all be told that we're being too hard on you.
oppression is systematic. it is all-encompassing. oppression is not being able to go out to eat, to the movies, take public transportation without people mocking you, calling you slurs, and potentially attacking you physically if you stand up for yourself (or even if you don't). oppression is being told you're not even really who you say you are, not really a man, not really a woman, not really a nonbinary person; you're just making it up to feel special. or your gender identity is chalked up to mental illness and we should stick you in therapy or even a conversion camp to get this idea out of your head. and you're going to get pushed so far that it gives you ptsd or perhaps causes you to attempt suicide. and even if we "accept" you, you have to go to a psychiatrist and other doctors for literally years because that (likely cisgender, likely neurotypical) therapist is going to be believed over you; they are trusted to know more about your own identity and experiences than you are.
someone calling you cishet? someone calling you transphobic? someone telling you to stop using certain words? that is not oppression. this is you being told that you're wrong.
and if multiple people explain to you why because you're arguing about it, despite not having an intimate understanding of the issue at hand, it's still. not. oppression.
stop playing the victim, stop acting like you're persecuted, and accept that you fucked up. you said a shitty thing. we all do at some point, and the way to deal with it is to stop defending your actions, apologize, and move on.

ethical consumption under capitalism re: veganism
Posted 9 years ago(taken from tumblr because it's been on my mind and i needed a break from being mad about things...)
“there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, therefore i’m not vegan.”
i can pay for products made with slave labor; for products from companies with horrific human rights records or a clear, far-right political agenda; for environmentally disastrous and unnecessary products - all of which describe products of animal agriculture - and without so much as a dirty look from the cashier.
or i can try to boycott those things to the best of my ability because they are more harmful than alternatives and use less destructive products and form habits that help me to do so.
is that useless? am i somehow naive in thinking that matters? if not on a global scale, then on a more personal level… isn’t it hypocritical to rail against the system while empowering it to harm others with your purchases?
capitalism doesn’t make it okay to pay for immoral practices when there are other options available. i may live in a fundamentally destructive society, but i do not want to contribute to more suffering than i absolutely have to. and if that’s naivete on my part, i’m happier being naive.

please signal boost: commissions/ychs/adoptables
Posted 9 years agoi really do mean to get to those free sketches, but right now i'm in dire straits for bills. again.
essentially, medical needs arose and all my money has mostly gone to dealing with that. i owe over 300 dollars in serious bills (as in, they will shut off my electricity), and i have maybe 20 dollars to my name that isn't already reserved for the aforementioned medical needs.
please please please, if you can't afford or are not interested in purchasing art, i would be so grateful for signal boosts.
basically, money is always tight here, and if i don't spend every waking moment trying to make it work, i'm afraid i'll be homeless or without food.
once again, i need help. i'm sorry to keep coming back to this. i'm trying my best to work for the funds i get, but it's hard to stay above water when things just keep piling on.

that's really all the detail i can give, since i'm not sure if i want to go telling all of fa what's up in my life at the moment... but yeah. i intend to follow through. it's just gonna take a little longer than i thought.

EMERGENCY CHEAP COMMISSION SALE!! (repost)
Posted 9 years agoyes i'm posting twice. i'm sorry for the spam. i am pretty desperate for money.
long story short, roomie's work fucked her over by "accidentally" garnishing her check twice. and they're laying everyone off for a week next month, so we're looking at a rocky few weeks... but the immediate emergency is we may lose electricity and water by monday.
i am not looking for donations; i will draw for every single person who sends me money, any amount. we just keep having the universe beat us up, and i'm not sure where else to turn.
(info below copied from other journal)
these are pay what you want, choose from the following options!
flat color head/bust sketches: 1-10 dollars
note: multiple sketches can be put onto a sketchpage for a discount!
examples (the smaller/less detail, the less expensive):

i will also do larger/more complete commissions, but i would prefer to discuss those on a case by case basis, as i set prices by timing... and that can vary a lot depending on what the commissioner would like from their piece!
payment required beforehand, paypal preferred.
my roomie
and i are also open to collaborative commissions! anything from badges and icons to full pieces with complex bgs.
if you can’t buy art, please signal boost. it’s greatly appreciated!

EMERGENCY CHEAP COMMISSION SALE!!

help me get out of chronic pain and get cool art!!
Posted 9 years agookay so basically i've had a shoulder/back/neck injury of some kind for a while, now. doctors visits are too costly for me, and i struggle with a lot of avoidance/fear of people in general... much less people who could tell me i'm dying.
i believe what is wrong is a muscle spasm in my shoulder and it only gets worse. it's basically like the muscles and tendons there are locked up and unable to stop tensing. magnesium oil helps but only for a small amount of time, as it comes back within an hour at most. recently, i've started having sharper pains and it's seriously affecting my ability to work.
but i've been doing some research and came across this little machine. from everything i've seen and read, this will help me unless i have a different, likely spine-related injury... in which case, i need to go to a specialist, which i frankly cannot afford.
i'm pretty desperate at this point. i keep waking up 8+ times a night in pain with my arm asleep or tingling. i can't lay in certain positions, and i have to be careful how i exercise these days for fear of shooting pains. i would buy this myself, but i'm having difficulty even making bills, and i'm trying to save up 400 dollars for new brakes and rotors on my car... much less finding 30 dollars to spare.
if anyone wants to purchase the thing for me, i'll do one large commission (ie, 1 character full shading and abstract bg or 2 characters, flat colors) or 2 smaller ones (badges/sketches) or 3 icons... whatever works best. your pick.
signal boosts would be very much appreciated. i'm tired of being in pain.
(note: i have 2 outstanding commissions currently in the works. one will be completed before the art for this machine, and the other likely after as it's larger and will take time. just so no one thinks i'm skipping folks in line.)

Posted 9 years agoi realized earlier today i watch a lot of young artists. i'm in my late 20s. i don't wanna make anyone uncomfortable. if you're ever like "ew why's this old dude watching me" just lemme know and i'll unwatch.
i just... thought i might mention it 'cause i know when i was that age, it might've weirded me out to have people who were nearly 30 watching my personal art accounts. i don't wanna be a creepy old fuck. that's all.
okay? okay! back to your regularly scheduled furry bullshit.

Posted 9 years agotw: discussion of rape, fetishization, and all manner of awful things. heads up.
if you think fetish art portraying rape is okay, unwatch me.
if you think fetish art portraying child molestation is okay, unwatch me.
if you think art fetishizing trans/intersex people is okay, unwatch me.
if you think terms like cboy, dgirl, herm, etc. are okay to use to label others, unwatch me.
if you think jokes about the holocaust, native american genocides, slavery, or other racist topics are okay, unwatch me.
if you think slurs aren't hurtful if you "don't mean it that way," unwatch me.
if you think it's okay to mock or fetishize those with mental disabilities or illnesses, unwatch me.
if you think it's okay to mock or fetishize those with physical disabilities or chronic illnesses, unwatch me.
if you think making fun of fat people is okay, unwatch me.
basically, if you can't pull your head out of your ass long enough to think about what you're doing and saying and how it could really hurt others, unwatch me. now.
i don't care if you think it's funny or if you get your rocks off to it or if you just like hurting others for shits and giggles... if you come here with that shit, i will block you without comment or reason. consider this your warning.

Posted 9 years agojust a heads up for those who were waiting for replies from me regarding commissions/fursuit auction: my computer crashed again. installed a new os. again. gonna see if this one is more stable.
luckily, no data was lost other than a couple of movies, so i'm not panicking... but it might take me a day or so to get everything set up the way i need it to be for art and such. so there may be a slight delay.
so uh yeah. apologies for leaving anyone hanging! now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

pwyw emergency commissions open
Posted 9 years agobasically, we're very poor and waiting on lots of money making ventures that will pay off, but we need to make some money in the meantime to tide us over. rent is coming up, bills are constant, and i desperately need brakes on my car.
i will take any commissions, including nsfw art (excluding certain topics, ie cub porn)
these can be either completely my own work or a collaboration with
anything from icons and badges, sketches, finished pieces, simple animations, as long as you pay a reasonable amount.
i also have designs for sale and some ych flat sales up on my nsfw acct. (if interested, let me know, and i'll link you!)
i would love to do small doodles and sketches for small amounts of money, actually, so if you'd like a headshot, sketch, or other small piece, please drop me a note!
