I've made it back safe from Further Confusion 2013. I've taken quite a great deal of photographs this year. It'll take quite a bit of time to go through and edit them all appropriate before I upload them onto my Picasa account. I won't bore you with the details. I will say this, however. I had an overall great time. I love going to FC, and I should hope to be able to make it back there next year. There was but one thing that makes me hesitant of booking a room again at the San Jose Marriott. Nothing serious, aside from an issue involving pests I'd rather not deal with.

Bugs in the room aside, I had fun. It was sort of a mirror of my first con, FC 2008. It mainly deals with taking tons of photos and starting the con with a stomach virus (FC '08) versus this year taking tons of photos and ending it with stomach problems. If this were to be my last con, I'd say it'd be poetic.

One of the things I liked a lot was finally eating one of the famous Psycho Donuts donuts. The D'OHnut, as it were. I liked it. Also, I wish I'd been able to go to that one vegan cafe on First, just to see what sort of meal I would have enjoyed there.

I tried cotton candy vodka. Two shots later, I might have become drunk enough to have invented a means of time travel without needing to use a nuclear reactor to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of power to travel through time. Unfortunately, due to a little thing called 'drunken recall', I can only remember it if I were to get drunk again. And anybody who knows me can testify that I seldom ever drink. XP Now where did I leave the design schematics for the flux capacitor?

So, yeah. I should hope that, if things go well for me, that I can afford to attend FC 2014. Especially since I want to help Chance the Dragon out with a fursuit Team Fortress 2 thing he's got in mind. That's all, good night.

Now, for my journal. I think it's safe to say that the amount of people I'm rooming with has tapered off. Which is pretty great. I get to hang out with a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time, lot of good friends, and go back on up to San Jose.

Which reminds me, I've got about two weeks to get a lot of things ready. Mainly, buying and recharging camera batteries, getting memory cards, cleaning up my fursuits, and timing it so I don't have food in my refrigerator that will be left to spoil. I'm going to be looking into either getting an HD camcorder, or outfitting my current video camera to be able to take video of the whole weekend. Also, I need to polish off this thing I've written in order to have it ready by FC.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to figuring how to get several fursuits and a car full of people up to FC.

I'm not going to Anthrocon this year. Meaning, I have no meme to post here. I have no vacation time. No time of any time. Instead, I shall use this weekend to be more productive in my non-furry convention attendance time. Namely, whatever I can pull off on Sunday, since that's my only day off from work.

I would, however, be inclined to ask one favor, of those who are going. I'd ask if anybody can bring me back a T-shirt. Nothing special, really. I can compensate for time, money, and shipping and handling costs. But, seeing as how that might be presuming too much over FA, I might just hold back on that one.

In other news, now that I'm not attending AC, I was thinking of using whatever money I'm saving from that and getting a Nikon D(Whateverly). Simply put, I want to one out and see how well it stacks against what I currently use from an image quality point of view. Now, I am open to suggestions from the Nikon users as to which would be a pretty good setup to invest in, both in the body and in the lenses that work best with it. I'm aiming for the mid- to high-end Nikon bodies, D90 on up.

Anybody who's been following my Twitter account would know that I occasionally make reference to wanting to get a Gigapan Epic Pro for the sole purpose of wanting to create gigapixel photographs.

Why do I bring this up here? Simple answer, really. There are two ways I want to go about doing this given its relevance to the furry fandom.

The first method involves creating a really high-resolution picture of a piece of artwork. And no, it's not going to be done on an already existing digital/traditional piece of artwork. I have in mind an original piece of work, in that I have one of my characters doing a sort of three-quarter rear view pose on either a 22" X 28" black poster board or 19" X 24" bristol board. The larger size allows both the artist and myself to achieve as high a detail as possible on a canvas of that size. Then I would go in and set up the print to be photographed multiple times and stitched together to create a really high-resolution image.

I am, of course, willing to both pay the artist for their time in assisting in this type of venture, and supplying all the necessary supplies to accomplish it. Artist gets paid and gets tools, and I get an image to work with. A simple deal, really.

The second method I have in mind is taking gigapixel images involving fursuits. I'm not as inclined to go about this method mainly because of the amount of time involved in taking enough photographs to stitch together a suitably large enough image. I'm not saying it can't be done without use of more creative methods, like inflatable dolls and mannequins. But I am saying that it would take quite a bit of work to try and pull this off. That, and finding the kinds of means to be able to pull this off as effectively as possible, given the kind of image I want to produce.

I am looking for feedback as to whether this would be the sort of thing that can be pulled off.

If you *HAVE* to touch me, give me a warning first. I just got a chest injury recently, bad enough to have been felt in both my lungs AND heart (not a good thing). So, if you're looking to pose in a photograph or something like that, please be gentle.

Plus, be watchful for those hands and the head while I'm in suit. Hands are dirty enough as it is. And even while your hands are clean, others' are not, and that dirt can rub off easier than you think.

Yes, photography. Aside from random convention photos, I might be available to take a semi-formal fursuit/non-fursuit portraits. But this'll have to be cleared with me ahead of schedule.

For a while, anyways. It has to do with undertaking a slight shift in my career, in terms of getting myself a smog license. Which means that I'm going to have to take a few courses that cost quite a pretty penny, which means that cons that I'd like to attend, like MFF and FC, might have to be cut back on in attendance, or cut down on completely.

Hell, I'm not entirely sure how RF and Antheria would be affected by this. If things work out, great. I can always schedule everything around those two cons, since they are two consecutive weekends. One of them I'm willing to fly to, the other's right there in Los Angeles. And if something should come up, then that's a bridge I'll cross when I come to it.

Long story short, I'm aiming to get fully licensed as a smog tech in the State of CA. All for money. Because, as they say, making money's good. *Sarcasm much*

No, I still don't have a plan on how to get up there. Not like it's stopped me before. Sounds like the opportune time to take a road trip.

No, I don't think I'll be looking for anyone to share the room space with me. While it's great that I have people in the room to help offset the costs of the room, I also have to deal with people wanting to share the room with me who have their own little quirks. Unless, of course, I know you really well.

Read - Know you really well in real life. People I only know online, in my experience, usually give me cause for concern, since I'm not sure whether the weekend will end up great or chock full of drama. And really, I'm at the point in my life where I simply will not abide the drama anymore than I really need to.

Now, about that road trip. I was thinking of taking a road trip to RMFC. Which, if Mapquest is to be believed, would be just shy of 1100 miles, clocking in at about 16.5 hours, plus rest stops, pit stops, food, etc. The only thing that would be a real obstacle is that I have to leave Denver as quickly as possible, to be able to get back to San Diego in time for an 8 am thing that simply cannot be avoided. Now, if I leave at 9 am Monday, average 75 mph, gear up on fish and water, only to stop for bathroom breaks and fuel, I should be able to make it with enough time to rest for a few hours.

Which sounds like a might fine challenge to me. Then again, I'm thinking of just flying in and out of Denver, since I'm not too much in the mood to driving back home given that I have a pressing deadline. Rain Furrest, I may do. Midwest Fur Fest, if I get the chance to go, probably, but I'd have to flip the switch to insanely stupid but still up to it in order to pull it off. And I'm leaving Antheria off the crazy list, since it's right there in Los Angeles, so there's no real trouble in that.

So, yeah. That's my plan. Now, how's everyone here doing?

The way I see it, I might show up late Thursday, but not afford to check-in until Friday. Meaning I'm either going to have to pull a Hunter S. Thompson and stay completely awake for 36 hours until I can check in, or find someone to room with that night. Or...the whole weekend. After that, it's simply a matter of deciding whether FC is out of the question or highly probable. But yeah, it's just a matter now of seeing if I can find a room for MFF based on if there's anybody willing to help. *Waits for answer*

Those of you who've attended Further Confusion know that I've acquired a fursuit of one of my fursonas. And I plan on using it in one form or another. Probably creating parodies of famous film scenes.

Which reminds me, I need to look into foam, faux fur and fabrics, scissors, hot glue, and a sewing machine. I have not the skills yet to produce anything for my private collection, but not knowing anything hasn't stopped people before. Just look at Henry Ford.
