Inkingtober 2015 – Submissions OPEN
Posted 10 years agoBy submitting a piece to be inked you agree to the terms listed in this post.
Yup, you got it, free professional inking.
Being that I’m a digital artist this is my take on inktober.
Why offer applications 1 month early? - This allows me time to select and solicit pieces to ink during the month of September so in October I can focus on inking.
Anything goes as long as its R rated or less, any skill level (beginner through professional) will be given full consideration. Granted, I am an enthusiastic anthropomorphist but that is in no way a prerequisite for submissions; as always, I reserve the right to reject any submitted piece for any reason. i would prefer that submissions be in as high a resolution as practical. Completed inks will provided in a resolution equal to or greater than that of the original and will transparency-enabled to allow for coloring etc.
To submit a piece, supply me with a link to it; if the submission is low-resolution, let me know if a higher resolution version could be made available to me.
Why open it to artists of all skill levels? – Put simply an inker reads lines and diverse source material builds the inker’s skills; it’s more fun that way to.
Copyrights:
The original artist retains all rights to their original work.
As the Inker I own the rights to the Inks with the exception of the right to sell it without reaching an agreement with the original artist and grant to the original artist the right to do whatever they want to with it with the exception of the right to sell it without reaching an agreement with me (and I’m not unreasonable).
As always both I and the original artist agree to supply credit for each other’s work any time the inks are displayed or reproduced.

Inkingtober!
Posted 11 years agoMy take on Inktober. . . http://mrjakeparker.com/inktober
I am looking for 31 lines/sketches to digitally ink
Submit a link to an image you would like inked.
Accepted submissions should be able to provide 300 – 1200ppi scans or a high-resolution digital photograph – I can work with lower resolution sources but expect an error margin.
All accepted submissions will receive a link to a (same resolution) PNG or vector-graphic converted form the inking (your choice) with transparency to allow for coloring.
Inking will be one-shot – no interaction, no corrections and no backing out.
All accepted submissions grant me the right to exhibit the finished work and provide via link a comparative image of the original for accreditation/promotional purposes.
Multiple submissions are allowed (though honestly I would prefer 31 separate artist’s works, I will not restrict it to that).
All completed inks will be ©copyrighted to me as derived works, I grant full license to distribute said woks to the original artist by noncommercial means, any commercial use/distribution is reserved and subject to negation by written contract between myself and the original artist.
This is a bit of a self-promotion folio refresher/builder . . . I very rarely do works for free.

Tech Tip - Use ICC color profiles
Posted 15 years agoICC – International Color Consortium
An international standard for matching color from one imaging device to another.
These profiles exist to ensure consistent presentation between devices.
Example: the colors of an image on your display should look the same when printed out on a photo printer.
1 or more ICC profiles exist for most (if not all) displays, printers, scanners, cameras, iPhones, etc.
Example: my scanner has 3 – positive, negative (for film) and glossy; printers can even have profiles for different paper stocks.
One of the most common complaints I see from artists online is “my scanner/camera turned the color blah” or something to that equivalent.
This is most often caused by the scanner not having the correct color profile assigned to it.
Example: MS Windows does not automatically assign manufacturer ICC profiles to devices (see Windows Help and support “ICC” for the FAQ and How to)
Where do you get them?:
Most often they are automatically loaded by driver software (just not necessarily assigned).
If they aren’t already on your system they can usually be found online without too much hassle; just use the manufacturer, model number and “ICC profile” in the search term.
Additionally art and imaging software (Adobe, Corel, etc.) use and allow custom selection of ICC profiles.

Posted 17 years ago Major wipe-out over the weekend . . . Took a header into a span of billiard-ball sized jagged gravel at ~20-35mph.Lots of contusions, abrasions and two lacerations; the ~20 x-rays they took at the hospital showed no brakes or fractures; though considering what the bill is likely to be I rather wish that at least something was broken to justify the bill.
I’m just hoping that if the lacerations don’t heal properly that people don’t say that it adds character to my face . . .
Sore knee, stiff shoulder and tender ribs but apparently everything is still functional; funny thing is that I’ve been in martial arts for 26 years, but it took colliding with the planet Earth to give me my first black-eye ~ go figure.
I caught a bull in my bear trap!

(Keep it clean, no pron)Just a little update
Posted 18 years agoA new character will be arriving on deck soon:
Flint Ebenhoof.
Unlike Boe, Colt and Blaze, Flint’s primary role will be in pieces a bit more on the risqué side.
I suppose you could think of him as a bit of a naughty pony type.
His début piece, "Magic Carrousel Pony", is already at the 41% level.
An early proto-form of him is playing avatar for me at the moment.
Rhaen has not been forgotten; just some issues with getting the facial bone structure correct.
Boe, Colt and Blaze are still in work but are very close now.
Work on the temple has stalled-out for the moment;
Let's just say it involves data-loss.
Artix will be getting an update soon and Young Faun is actively progressing.
I'm in the design phase of my first Canid; He's a young male wolf warier character of a friend and furry author.
That's about it for now. -JRWThe boys will be back
Posted 19 years agoThe boys will be back:
I am presently redesigning them from scratch; only this time all the work will be thoroughly documented.
The one benefit, if you can call it that, is that my skills, tools and reference materials have all improved markedly since I did them; let's just say that they will be better and more realistic than they where before.
"Let's Dance", "Drinking Buddies" and "Horsepower" will all be back in new and improved forms.
"The Key" will not be returning, but I have a number of works that will feature Boe that will more than make up for the loss.
