Posted 14 years agoOnly thing I did mediocre on was one of the Math tests, of course.
Not too shabby considering I'm a ninth grade drop out who missed every other semester of three grades up until then!
No one ever taught me how to calculate percentages, not even with a calculator. Unless it's easily defined in fractions, I'm pretty clueless. I'm good at seeing the general amount though.
And I don't know the formula for calculating area, which is pretty embarrassing.
I did figure out how to achieve bloom on a 2D plane in HLSL, so..
Just don't ask me how many bags of fertilizer Jimmy Smith needs for a garden 35 ft wide and 15 ft tall if each bag covers 10 square feet.
Ask me to identify all the matching shapes in a page of 100 shapes that are similar, I can do that!
Or ask me to type over 100 wpm, sure. Ask me to proofread a large essay, or write one.
So, yeah. Now I just need those medical appointments and then I can start driving practice again.. and I'm going to enter a college orientation course. I think.

Vocational Rehab is moving along
Posted 14 years agoScored an average of 12.8 on my TABE tests! Most were 12.9+ (Highest score, I believe.. Hence the plus.)
Still waiting on my GED results! Patiently, very patiently.
Took aptitude and dexterity tests today, fudged the rows on some of the bubble test parts. At least on Math. Test more or less measures speed rather than skill in the specific subject.
Overall I excelled in symbolic recognition I think. Visualization and analytical skills!
And the physical dexterity, uh. Average or less most likely.
Fat fingers, sweaty hands, lower back pain. Sounds like I need powdered cheddar stains!!!
Anyhow, also took my Myers Briggs Type Indicator, not that most everyone hasn't tried a similar personality test or that it's accurate but.. fun and it influences the direction of my career vocation.
So far, I've pretty much been told that I need to work in the realm of psychology and psychiatry, the arts in general, and in the media (whether news reporting, an editor, or audio and video equipment technician)
The first job suggested being Philologist!
But these tests are considered relatively as credible as the personality tests in most respects. Still, I have an interests in working in the media and the only life experience traits I have are some basic ones and working with computers in some areas. Plenty of transferable but odd traits in specific, ones that aren't helping me get an immediate job.
So far I look like good college material, I'm interested in furthering my education, and I have the potential to tackle a large career. It's just gonna be hard finding the rights jobs to take me in that direction in the mean time!
But that's why I'm in voc rehab anyhow. My workers are gonna help out enough.

GED test redux
Posted 15 years agoWell, I managed to post a double journal on that last one. Never done that.
GED test cancelled. Rescheduled to.. oh right, I don't know. The college has called all day but I can't answer because we have no phone time. I just know it's rescheduled because the schools and college campuses are closed because of weather.
Stayed up all night and day yesterday, still slept til 11 this morning. Because I tried to go to bed early and my mother decided to stay up and watch TV including shows she never watches fdssghdfhssgd
Needless to say I'm not happy this morning at all
Oh and I've been naked for almost three days now and no one will wash clothes. Washed one shirt, one pair of pants (not the pair I wanted), and a pair of underwear and my neighbor let me dry them in his dryer that doesn't really heat.
He's gone this morning.
I'm still naked.
