Furry Coloring Book?
Posted 10 years agoWould you think you'd be interested in a furry coloring book?
If you are, what kind of things would you like in it?
If I were to make it a PDF, how many images would you like for about 6 USD?

Okay, Crazy Project Thought of the week...
Posted 10 years ago... So, now I got this idea...
I wanna do a sticker book club. The idea is that you have a blank book, and that you plan the book both around the Convention Circuit and around a Monthly Club. I get together with about five other artists, and we all create like 1 or 2 stickers for each month (Aiming for a goal of 62 larger stickers, or 144 smaller stickers). You collect by the year, and you buy the stickers either directly from the artist at conventions, or you buy the sticker on the Book Website, or you collect the whole month's of stickers from the club for a fair price for limited run stickers.
If successful, I ask the artists to continue contributing next year, or we increase the pool of artists.
I have a requirement that each artist has at least one 'mascot', a character that represents them and their work, that allows a person to identify that artist as they flip through the book easily. That mascot is put at the end of the sticker book, along with the contributor and a one paragraph bio and web site contact.
The collector Book would have the first six-twelve stickers, and could be bought at a central website, or from me or an artist agent at the conventions in question.
With convention circuits, it probably would make more sense to get only artist who I will know will be at target locations to make a sticker for that month, though. I don't know. This is very early planning stages.
I've been wanting to make a sticker collection for almost a year now. I'm in such a bad position to complete a task like this, but I am trying to get a feel if people would even like this idea, or would like to enter into a venture like that with me.
If you are reading this, tell me what you think. Good, Bad, it's all okay. I just would like to make one of my projects real sometime, and this one, for this moment, feels really, really doable.

No art this week so far...
Posted 10 years agoMy appologies. I started an idea, and exlored a little, and then realized that what I was doing probably would open me up for law suits, so I stopped and am not resuming other things. I learned things, though.
Feeling Sad Bloop
Posted 10 years agoThe hardest part about being an artist, at times, is the feeling that only you like what you do, and even then, you aren't sure you are trying hard enough.
Sticker Clubs?
Posted 10 years agoWhile I am in the middle of the sorrowful downthings that are my life, I am still trying to do research into Stickers, and the people who collect them.
Are there such things as Sticker Club anymore? While I know Redbubble sells indie stickers, is there a place where people who collect stickers gather? I've tried facebook and google, but I've yet to find something relevant. I probably don't know the right keywords.
Does anyone have any ideas on where to look? Also, are you interested in stickers? If I started some projects, would you be interested in helping back them?

A Really Specific Whine
Posted 10 years agoPeople.... can we ditch the near naked stereotype of the Shaman? Real Medicine People don't go around half ass naked, throwing dust and chanting, and doing all the stuff you see in fantasy art. They wear clothes. Sometimes a *lot* of clothes. And they are really impressive clothing, too. They have costumes. It has a lot of different takes, depending on the culture, but the nekkid primitive is stereotypical and wrong for most forms.
Only Wiccans go around skyclad for practicing things.

The FC Information Meme
Posted 11 years agoHotel:
No... I'll be going home each night.
Arrival/Departure
Will Show Up on Thursday to pick up my badge. Will probably not be there Monday unless a cool panel is happening.
Means of transportation:
Bus!
Sharing a room with:
No one...
Gender
Not the right one.
Relationship Status
Single.
How old are you?
Old Enough to join Graymuzzles, young enough to be embarrassed to admit it.
How tall are you?
6'1"
Are you an Artist?
Yes!
Do you have an artist table?
No... lack of planning.
What will you be offering at your table?
If you can corner me, I'll do little ACEO's and maybe a Pastel something if you are nice.
Do you take commissions?
I would not be opposed, but given the nature of the convention rules, you might have to trade in barter.
Do you do trades?
I'd consider it. I tend to doodle in abandoned sketchbooks.
Are you a Fursuiter?
No.
What's your fursuit?
n/a
Attending parties?
Probably not. The San Jose rooms are really tiny, and not set up for Parties.
Do you drink?
Rarely. Usually only foofoo drinks,
Can I buy you a drink?
Ususally yes.
Do you smoke?
No, but I don't mind if you do.
Are you attending any panels?
Probably! I don't know which ones yet, though.
Stage or public performance?
Does running a game count as public Performance?
How do I identify my self to you?
Say hello! I'm X. I'll respond to both Kensan and Sarah, so use whatever you are comfortable with.
Rules of engagement (physical contact)?
I'm squishy! You can hug if you want.
How can I find you?
I'll have my badges on. I realize that this is not much help. if you want to meet, you might want to use my Twitter kensan_Oni
Can I talk to you?
I'm a great listener. At least, I think I still am.
Can I give you lots of money?
I am not opposed to gifts and things.
Can I give you stuff?
I like gifts and things!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hug, yes. Snuggle? Depends on the you.
Can I come to dinner with you?
Strike that. Reverse that. Thank you. I do plan on having dinner one night at Flames or Pizza Chicago, but I've not made any real plans, yet.
Can I hang out with you?
I'm open to hangers on when I'm not engaged. That includes at the Creator's Lounge or at the Gaming Lounge.
Can I take your picture?
Please ask before you do. I'm not a fursuiter, and I am not really presenting properly at con, due to many factors. I probably won't say no, though.
How do I know if you're not looking to socialize (angry, busy or whatnot)
Honestly, I will need to be with people. I might get depressed, and lonely, and nervous because there are so many people. I'll be grateful for friendly company.
Personality Type?
Seriously, this really depends on the setting at the time. I tend to be the take charge person when no one else is leading, but I hate doing so. I'm guarded and not likely to take the initiative, but I am not unfriendly, just scared.
What's your goal for the con this year?
Set up contacts, find a art support group that lives in the San Jose area, because I really need a group to hang out with that isn't Magic Players, and desperately search for an audience for my art.
No... I'll be going home each night.

Alternatives to Facebook
Posted 11 years agoI think I've about had it with Facebook. I am thinking of going to a different social media site, but I am a bit blind to which one Trans people might be jumping to. Given how successful my jump to Artesian had been (or... not, as the site is pretty dead) was, I feel it might be appropriate to find alternative sites here.

Timelapse Video
Posted 11 years agoMy best work it is not, but some of you wanted to see how I drew/painted so here is a quick video (Not very long!) of me throwing out a doodle for all of you.
If *anyone* can help me find some decent open source editors to rotate and crop the video, I'd be really appreciative! Help me present better videos!

Some of the Art Rules
Posted 11 years agoRule #1, Color outside the lines
The Kindergarden Fish Rule : Sharp Teeth don't belong on everything
The Third Grade Rule : Sometimes, the experts don't know a bloody thing.
The Get There Rule : You don't need all the colors to start. You can get more as you go along. Get a tube a week, and you'll be fine.
The Spend Your Paycheck Rule: Get the best of whatever you can get. Even if you think you stink. The better the products, the better your result will be.
The Fuck the Rich Rule: Buy the cheap stuff, and have fun with it. Sometimes, it's better than the other stuff, anyway.
The Learning Rule : There is no wrong way to learn.
The Mistakes Rule: No one ever notices your mistakes
The Mistakes Rule Corollary: Everyone notices the Mistake you didn't know was there
The Birthday Rule : Always give Crayons and Paper. There isn't anything in the world you can't do if you have those two things.

What would you like?
Posted 11 years agoSimple question for today. While I am going about and doodling my things, I am wondering what you would like to see? Now, I'm not taking specific requests at this time, but I am trying to get a feel for what people who watch me are interested in.
Please do speak up if you are watching. There are no bad or stupid ideas, and you don't really have to know exactly what it is, but I hope that if you are watching, it's for reasons, and I would like to hear those reasons!
Thank you for your time, and I continue to hope to bring a little joy and something interesting to you.

Why I'm not leaving for weasly anytime soon...
Posted 12 years agoSome people might remember I have had an account on FA about four or five years ago. Some people might even be able to find it, even after I've requested the site to delete me years ago.
Deviant Art is a horrible site. It's traffic is huge, so your chances of actually getting noticed is minimal, it's featured page tends to play to bias in the administrators, and the community goes from apathetic to downright nasty at times, and it's flooded and flooded with people asking the same questions over and over and over again.
So, when the Gender identification issue came up (So they could target ads from their revenue service), I left. For Artiscan, just like a lot of other artists were going to do.
... As far as I know, Artisan is dead. The community either left for other shores, or they stopped producing art... or I don't know.. fact is, I don't use it anymore, either, because when you are one of six people to upload something to the site on a monthly basis, you know it's over.
So, OMG, Drama that doesn't actually affect your income or your production is happening! I must leave! I can't figure out what really is going on, to be honest. It's either OMG, they threw out the Code, or it's OMG, that person raped someone... and while both are somewhat horrible, and in the case of the later, terrifying, it's... not affecting me. It's not affecting my subscribers, as far as I know, and it's not stopping me from working.
Sometime in the future, I might open up a Weasly account. Maybe. Assuming it doesn't go the way of YERF.... or half a dozen other art sites. I like being able to be found, and I really am appreciative of my watchers. I don't want to make you have to jump all over the place to find me.
If, for some reason, FA does go down, you can find me over here on Tumblr.
http://theartofkensanoni.tumblr.com/
However, I don't suspect you'll have to do so anytime in the near future.

Ask Me Why!?!
Posted 12 years agoI'm thinking of doing something silly.
Ask a deer girl why! Why what? Why, anything at all! Has to be in the form of a Why Question though.
Things like Why do Bees Sting, or Why do cows moo! Or whatever else.
And no Why? Why question! Why by itself isn't a question, it's an exclamation, and that just won't do!
I'm going to doodle a few comics based on questions. I think. That's the plan, anyway.
So please, ask away!

Posted 12 years agoI've been failing... a lot. It's not all a bad thing. It's just learning about new stuffs that I have, and other things.
Thinking about having a Failed Art Sale... just auctioning off really cheap a large body of work that I need to clear away so I have room to make more bodies of work.
Be good to each other!

Looking for Permission
Posted 12 years agoI am hoping this gets out to artists out there. Please, give me the permission not to ink my works. Please, please, please let me know it's really okay, because inking makes me feel horrible. It turns good art work or acceptable artwork into bad artwork. I hate it, but it feels so expected out of my fandom and out of the places I see art.
I so need permission just to do pencils and color. I know it's silly. I know that it's an artist's place to break rules, but this is the one place that people keep going, and the place that is expected. Inking forces me to skinny lines. Even the times where I go ahead and use the Quill Pin to ink, it still feels too skinny (although much better).
I just don't want to do it anymore. I don't see any strong points in it, and even though I know some beautiful people who do beautiful work with ink, unless I intend an area to be black, I think I don't want to do it.

Posted 13 years agoStarting at FC, I've been working on two characters that are basically older characters of mine. Children of Kensan that have Grown Up, and become their own ladies. ... in crime? Darn Trickster Blood!
So, sometime soon, expect to meet the Feer (Fox+Deer. :D) Spark and Flame. Who finally have clothing. :) I'm still working on getting them the right height and look, and looking for more stories, but they're coming!
Still working on other things too. Hope to thrill you soon.

Splatter Silhouette's for sale on Ebay!
Posted 13 years agoOkay... so this is an experiment of sorts. I'm selling the ACEO's for my Splatter Art here, on ebay!
http://www.ebay.com/sch/darleenaoni.....p2047675.l2562
I'm really testing the market to see if this would work to sell my art on, and I'll probably be adding some older art into the list as well.
It is my hope that other people would like to add some of the things that I've done to their personal collections, and we'll go from there.

Don't do it for free
Posted 13 years agoLooking for a visual reference
Posted 13 years agoI have been trying to get this body pose down for three weeks, and I could use some help with resources...
So here is what I'm trying to get.
I want to do this image of a Large Cat sitting on a throne with high sides, so she is perching her elbows about head level. That's not the hard part. I want to have her sit with one leg of to the side, and the other leg raised so that it's ankle is across it's other knee, leaving her pelvis open, but guarded. The whole pose is suppose to be a I am a predator and I am in control type feel, mixxed with the "You want this, but you can't have" look... it's hard to get across.
I mean, really controlling self assured image, you know... My big issue is that most images that cross their legs are doing so to hide the pelvis, knee over knee style.
Does anyone know where I can find a reference for what I am looking for?
