Reviewing "Disappearance" by Madison Scott-Clary
Posted 5 years agoAs part of a review exchange on the Voice of Dog podcast ( https://www.thevoice.dog ) I was selected to review a story by a wonderful writer and fellow spotty cat, Madison Scott-Clary or

This is a slow story, one that meanders in what some might feel is aimless but is mimicking the aimlessness that the weasel feels as she tries to escape her past and who she was to find someone new, some new version of herself where she can be free and maybe happy.
And I think that what I love about this story is just that aimless mood. She's escaping, she's trying to get away from a past that's hinted at but never fully explored, as if she's not able to admit everything to herself. She finds a rhythm in a new town, but it never feels like a permanent solution. It feels like a temporary reprieve that can't really be continued. But I get so lost in it, in her day-to-day and the mystery of what is she doing, what's she running from.
It's not a mystery that's needed to be answered, but every bread crumb adds to the trail where you can piece it together until it leads to someone.
I will admit, I'm not very good at reviewing things, but I know not to outright spoil things. And when the conversation happens between Aurora and the weasel, it was such a wonderful high note to end the story on that the aimlessness led to something worthwhile and finally arriving where the weasel was meant to be.
So if moody, character dramas that examine leaving the past behind to find something better is something you'd like, please consider checking the story out. Yeah, I don't know anymore, It's been ages since I was active on here, but I'm getting some new art pieces so I'm putting some of my old stuff on here. Not all of it though, and most of the stuff with my ex is staying off of my profile.
So yeah, I'd say sorry for the flood, but I'm really not.
I do really want to get some more straight art as well because that's where my sexuality is for the most part these days so if you'd like to get something with me, let me know and we can talk about it.

I'm doing a full month (and then some) of Holiday season sale prices. From now until Christmas day, if you order a story commission from me, it will be at a discounted rate.
My normal rate is more or less $1 per 100 words with a minimum of 2 pages.
The sale rate will have the first 3 pages (or about 1200 words) free.
