krillos for introducing me to this site on this very date.
lordstevie for being my Top Gear friend. And on that bombshell- no wait, not over.
takarachan, if it wasn't for your plumbing problem all those years ago we woulda never met.
tigerblack, my Goth friend, and also the best Tiger in Star Command. Thanks, Spock.
vinny_van_yiffy for being my very weird, maybe, dunno, very bearded mic chatty friend.
I could go on and on, but let me end it by staying tuned tonight for my Celebration Party of all the images your inbox can handle.

Oren Tries = Pepsi Next & Mountain Dew Dark Berry
Posted 13 years agoWell, you read the title. Let's get this over with.
MOUNTAIN DEW DARK BERRY as you know is the promotional drink for The Dark Knight Rises being berry flavored.
SMELL = Well like...berries. What else?
TASTE = I say it tastes more like...Razzleberry. Mixture of Black and Rasp berries.
VERDICT = Well it's okay for a Dew flavor. Nothing like LiveWire.
PEPSI NEXT is another attempt at a healthy soda like Pepsi Max and Pepsi One and Diet Pepsi. But does the taste change?
SMELL = Like Pepsi. Well no sh!t.
TASTE = It's nowhere near Diet, but I suppose it's better tasting than Pepsi One and Max.
VERDICT = If you're a health consensus nut, not my bag, but you might like it.
Annnd now I'm out of material...... Well f-

New-Age Renaissance of Animation?
Posted 13 years agoThis has been stewing inside my mind for quite sometime now and I want to jot this down. Over these past few years a lot of new and excellent cartoons and animation have popped up. Not just MLP : FiM. Adventure Time looks and feels well enough for the kids. Regular Show, aimed higher on the age chain. Legend of Korra keeps the beat Last Airbender had started in the Avatar series. And my latest favorite, Motorcity on DisneyXD.
What I'm on about is... Is this a grand new decade for animation as a whole? Have the kids of the 90s, 80s, and all previous generations fueled the close-to-empty tank of imagination in the animation industry today? Are these shows a sign of what is yet to come? "The Tip of the Iceberg"? More importantly... WILL all these shows, the efforts of our generations, leave a positive impact and inspire this current generation of kids like the shows we loved and cherished did to us?
Answers and thoughts in the comments bellow. Good-night, FA.

Oren Tries: Dad's Root Beer
Posted 13 years agoOkay, it's Memorial Day Weekend, I decided hey, I've done good on my diet. I'll cheat. And so I finally got my gigantor hands on-
DAD'S ROOT BEER is an American root beer brewed in 1937 in Chicago, IL. Back then I tried a staple of Dad's Root Beer inc. soda, Bubble Up and it was also great. So let's have a tasty test.
SMELL = Like good root beer. Similar to A&W if I might add.
TASTE = Pretty sweet. I say that it's not like every other root beer. Tastes awfully close to IBC, if I had to guess.
VERDICT = It's only under $1 for a 1 liter bottle of this stuff. I recommend this brand of Root Beer.

Oren Tries: Venom Death Adder & Jarritos Mexican Cola
Posted 13 years agoAfter many months of Oren Tries inactivity, he finally has material! First let's get to the energy drink.
VENOM DEATH ADDER is another flavor of Venom's Energy Drink line and it is Mango flavored. Let's pop her open.
SMELL = Not too tough. And I can smell the mango flavoring in it.
TASTE = Good, honestly. Tastes like a usual energy drink but again, the mango makes it sweeter and better.
AFTERMATH = I didn't crash at all. Not like the Black Mamba. Now THAT hit me hard.
VERDICT = Recommended with caution.
JARRIOTS MEXICAN COLA is what I found in my local Publix in the Ethnic Foods isle and I said "Oh my Geez" when I say it and had to snatch one up.
SMELL = Like cola. Just a regular cola.
TASTE = It has a different taste from the normal Coca Cola or Pepsi or even Royal Crown Cola. Like it developed a flavor all it's own. Tastes sort of watered down but it's undeniably sweet.
VERDICT = Recommended HIGHLY.
Next time on Oren tries, I'll do a marathon oooffff....
CAAAAAANNNNDYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Ode To Carroll Shelby
Posted 13 years agoA man among men has left this mortal world on May 10th, 2012 for those who don't know, Carroll Shelby. He was known as many things in his life. A good son, a good father, a World War II veteran, a car builder, a car modifier, a car racer, but most importantly, a great man all in all. I take this time today to remember Carroll Shelby and all that he's done for the American Racing history and Automotive industry since his company's conception in 1962. May he have a great life in the heavens above.

Oren Tries = Venom Black Mamba & Grape Nehi
Posted 13 years agoHello and welcome to another installment of Oren Tries and today I have some more material! YAY, CONTINUITY!!! So I was browsing around my grocery store right next to my drug store while getting prescriptions filled and I came across two new drinks I never had from Dr. Pepper/Snapple group's line. So let's dig in.
GRAPE NEHI is the third of the trio where I already drank Orange & Peach Nehi. Now Grape flavored has a richer history known for it's appearance on M*A*S*H where the character Radar is addicted to the stuff. Let's see if this is good.
SMELL = Awful fizzy... Of course there's grape in the smell...
TASTE = Ehhhh, it's okay. Reminds me of a mix between Grape hard candies and the horrid grape cold medicine. I'll give it an average. Pick it up at your own risk.
VENOM ENERGY was the "another energy drink" when they hopped on the bandwagon in 2002, and relaunched in 2008, currently on Andretti Motorsports as one of their sponsors for Indy Car series racing. I dunno about this one, since I haven't had an energy drink in YEARS, so I'm worried, but I'll give it a shot.
SMELL = Like berries, mostly. Eh, typical energy drink smell.
TASTE= ...Pretty sweet. Also good. I can say about Venom is pick it up, but at your own risk because-
AFTERMATH = A new section, solely for energy drinks. It states what it does to me. And Venom floored me. I was on a crash course at about 8 o clock yesterday and, bleh... Oh man... A Mountain Dew Amp couldn't do that to me... Wow... Be careful with Venom, kids...

Oren Tries = NuGrape, Sioux City, Cheerwine, & a Surprise~
Posted 14 years ago*drinks my Double Cola* Oh hey guys. Enjoyed the Super Bowl 46 bash? I sure did. Well, went to Cracker Barrel again today for the last of this new material. And I got a surprise at the end.
CHEERWINE holds the title for the oldest continuing soft drink company still run by the same family. Founded in 1917 in Salisbury, North Carolina, Cheerwine was brewed in the Carolina Beverage Inc. and got it's trademark in 1926. It stayed the course and got diet Cheerwine all these years, but in 2010 is when it broke into the scene again. From Retro Cheerwine in glass bottles containing the original formula, to Krispy Kreme making a Cheerwine flavored donut. Okay, own to business.
SMELL = Like cherries, of course. Smells like one of those cherry hard candies.
TASTE = Like a melted down cherry lollipop and then carbonated. Regardless, delicious. Not saying it's the best, but a very good one. I say if you love cherry cola's, pick it up.
SIOUX CITY SARSAPARILLA, not Root Beer, even if it says that on the label, this is pure Sarsaparilla, made with real cane friggen sugar. They are bottled under White Rock Beverages who were born in 1876 as a spring water company, then in 1987 White Rock branched off Sioux City sodas, and claiming to be the first soda with a Western theme. Okay, enough history lesson, let's get onto drinkin'.
SMELL = Like sugar and carbonation. I can't describe the flavor since I never had sarsaparilla.
TASTE = For my first taste of sarsaparilla, I like it. I say it's worth a pick-up if you guys can find it.
NU-GRAPE is a Georgia based Grape soda which was bottled and sold in 1922. Afterwards it was playing company volleyball around the south and finally ending it's nesting place today at Big Red Inc. in Waco, Texas. Let us try it, shall we?
SMELL = Oh! Like my favorite grape hard candy! This is gonna be good.
TASTE = Mmmm. Oh my goodness. Lovely. I have not had a grape soda in YEARS and I love it again. NuGrape, you're alright and worth to be bought. Pick it up, fellas. You won't be disappointed
CLARK is the surprise! It's a candy bar! Not much is known on the history of this bar date-wise, only that it's made and produced by NECCO chocolates. No smell for this baby, it's all tastes.
TASTE = It's harder than a Butterfinger, more caramel crunch, and boy does it jam up those molar teeth! I digress, this is a good candy bar. Get your Clark on today!
This has been another installment of Oren Tries. Goodnight, and congratulations, New York Giants! *raises my Double Cola bottle*

Oren Tries = Bubble Up, Dr. Enuf, & Mexican Sprite
Posted 14 years agoHello and WELCOME to the first soda journal installment of 2012! I finally got some more material from Cracker Barrel's shop and here to share with you! Plus another Mexican version of an already popular drink has wondered into the USA... Let's start, shall we?
BUBBLE UP was made by Sweet Valley Products in 1919 in Sandusky, OH. (INB4 Penn State) In 2007 it was bought by Hedinger and now licensed under Dad's Root Beer Inc, which I hope to get my hands on some of that soon. And many critics claim Sprite and 7 Up copied from this soda since 7 Up was produced in 1929 and Sprite in 1961. So Bubble Up could have been the original Lemon Lime soda? Let me find out.
SMELL = Smells great. Smells like Sprite but I can sense the Lemon & Lime flavor more.
TASTE = It's not too intense. I like up. I can taste the Lemon & Lime in it more than 7 Up Retro which I did months ago. I say pick this up if you want to. I recommend it.
DR. ENUF, what can I say about this soda? Unique. It was an idea from a Chicago businessman to make a soda that contained B vitamins with caffeine and sugar. (Could this be the first Energy Drink ever?) Someone from Tennessee caught word of this and thus in 1949, Dr. Enuf was conceived in Tri-City Beverage in Johnson City, TN. the same place where Mountain Dew would see the light of day years later.
SMELL = I can smell the vitamins in it with Lemon & Lime, too.
TASTE = ...Strange...yet fascinating. It tastes like Lemon & Lime soda mixed with Ginger Ale. This has to be the most unique soda I have ever tasted. I say if you want a healthy energy drink, Dr. Enuf is for you. Pick this one up, even though it's rare and sold mainly in the Southeast.
MEXICAN SPRITE. Here it is, another one has arrived from South of the boarder. Not much to explain about this one so let's dive right in.
SMELL = Hm. Smells good. It's the same smell of Sprite but with no carbonation getting up your nostrils.
TASTE = Mmm... Oh my goodness... This goes down smooth... Like-Like how I drank it back in the 90's when I was a kid! Less carbonated, more taste...! I recommend it. BUY this. Worth the cash. Not worth doing a VS. 7 Up Retro or VS. Bubble Up over. So delicious...
That ends it, a perfect score. Join in next time where I'll get more from the Cracker Barrel shop! In the meantime, drink it up, drink it in, my friends.

Oren Tries = Double Cola
Posted 14 years agoMerry Christmas Eve, ya Naughty and Nice boys and girls. Having a good day, bad day, meh day? Well I'm having a splendid day with breakfast at Cracker Barrel and cooking nut-bread and Xmas Eve snacks for the family.
Now when I was on Skype with
vinny_van_yiffy one night he mentioned that he always orders a Stewart's Fountain Classic Root Beer which I reviewed previously. I went to the Cracker Barrel this morning and lo & behold, there it was, and a gaggle of other soda goodies! MORE MATERIAL!!! First one I picked is...
DOUBLE COLA
Back in 1924 the company was named Chero-Cola, but after controversy and company chaos, it split into two cola companies: RC Cola staying in Georgia, and Double Cola moving into Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1933. Enough history lessons, time to drink!
SMELL = Smells like your everyday cola. But it smells good none the less.
TASTE = You can tell it had RC Cola roots because it's like an RC, but sweeter and made with real sugar. I like this.
If you're in a Cracker Barrel, or live east of the Mississippi River, pick it up. It's also available in international food markets across the USA. It's also popular in South America, South Asia, and even the Middle East.
Well, guys, I won't say the international phrase for this holiday so, Merry Christmas and cheers to all.
(PS: The Merry Cherry Christmas plan is shot. Canceled. Sorry to those who looked forward to it.)

Oren Tries = Nehi Peach
Posted 14 years agoSo here we are. My Very Cherry December is not going so well so...what better way to spend the holidays than to do another review? THIS is the second installment of the Nehi trio.
NEHI PEACH
I was wary of this one because I tried Sunkist Peach and it was naaasss-ty. So after trying Nehi Orange a month ago, I decided "Why not?" Like I said, Nehi, brewed first in the Georgia/Alabama boarder. Cut from the same cloth as RC Cola. Georgia's known for Peaches, Nehi is a Georgia soda. Let's have a look.
SMELL = Smells like Peach jelly/candy...
TASTE = ...It tastes...like I am eating...a real Peach... My god... It can't be... THIS... THIS has to be...the fruit soda that tastes...closest...to the fruit it's based on..that I ever had...
COMPARE = Nehi Peach VS Sunkist Peach GET OUTTA HERE, SUNKIST!!! You lose! Good DAY sir!
So yes... Get this... GET. THIS. I highly recommend this. I love Peach soda again. And I love you, Nehi~!

Slacking a lot... NO MORE!
Posted 14 years agoLately I have seen a lot of my artworks and the sort and saw that...I am so not studious about replying to comments. And the people who usually do that are either lazy or an elite artist (not naming names). Me being the first choice.
NO MORE, I SAY! I shall do my best to reply to everyone! If I never did reply and got one just now, I hope you'll forgive me. I started tonight...and pausing off about 3/4 in my gallery. Goodnight, FA...

Oren Tries = Jarritos, Fanta MEX, A&W Classic & Nehi Orange
Posted 14 years agoLet's see here... 2 months since an Oren Tries journal... Hmm... Time to do one! So when I was on vacation, I found several drinks I never tried and that are SO not available in Alabama. So here....we....go....
First bunch is called JARRITOS, a popular soda brand in Mexico imported to the US of A. And since Florida has a big population of Latin Americans, it's all over the place. So I decided to try some. Now I went with these three flavors because they were the "safest" that and
vinny_van_yiffy gave me warnign signs about this stuff.
JARRITOS FRUIT PUNCH = Smells like...cough syrup, only carbonated... Tastes...not like fruit punch, but it's not horrifyingly bad. It's alright...I...guess...
JARRITOS MANGO = Smells not like cough syrup. Now we're getting somewhere. Tastes...pretty good. I kinda like it. Not bad.
JARRITOS MANDARIN = Smells like...not oranges... Tastes...meh... I was disappointed since orange soda's my favorite.
And now for MORE orange soda!
NEHI ORANGE! Bottled in glass and made with sugar. I have high hopes for this brand since it's cut from the same cloth as RC Cola.
SMELL = Ohhh! Smells like candy. I'm liking this already.
TASTE = ...like...an orange lollipop...
I love it. I wanna have it at my reach. I have the bottlecap. I am gonna show this TO my Winn Dixie, Walmart AND Publix! Drink Nehi! DRINK IT! You will not be disappointed.
And MORE orange soda!
FANTA MEXICANA! Also glass bottled and made with sugar. Will it stand with Nehi orange? Let's find out.
SMELL = Okay. Smells like less carbination. And no, it's tightly sealed.
TASTE = It tastes like a true soft drink. It's easy on the mouth. The carbonation doesn't kill you. I'd recommend this.
COMPARISON = A new section. I pit this version with the American or HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) versions. Compared with USA and HFCS version of Fanta, the carbonation is definitely stronger. I still go with the mexican version.
Next and last is... A&W CLASSIC! With a good ol' fashioned glass bottle and made with sugar. Just like in the resturants back in the days. Will it sand up? Let's find out.
SMELL = Like the same good root beer. Can't go wrong.
TASTE = ....like....the closest thing to a FLOAT... I CAAAAAME.... I have the bottlecap the same as the Nehi Orange. And I recommend this to ALL of YOU!!!
COMPARISON = To the HFCS version, it beats it into the DUST...
Well kids, that does it for me. Now for the month of December I will embark on the most wonderful journey. Cherry soda, it's not my favorite. In fact my least favorite. So on December I will decide to not be a Scrooge and give Cherries a chance. Get ready ya'll, because for me it will be a
