Almost Christmas
Posted 9 years agoWell, it's been some time I posted something on here. Sorry for the silence xD
I've been in general just very busy. Occasionally able to finish up a drawing or two about furries, but that's a rarity sadly.
University is occupying about 70h a week if not more. As of late, that time also includes life drawing, which means I end up getting really exhausted afterwards.
However, I've been improving as some of you have seen in my latest drawings.
About the commissions:
I am open again.
Just keep in mind that it might take several weeks or months until I can finish a drawing again. However, I do write them down on post-its on my desktop so I will never forget.
Either way, hope everyone is having a nice Christmas Holidays and a happy new year ♥

3 months in game university
Posted 10 years agoA quick update announcement
It's close to Christmas, two weeks of holidays are awaiting me, and I'll be spending finally some time again with my family which I haven't seen for more than 4 months now.
During the next two weeks, I'll be doing tons of research for a new software I'm going to buy as well as doing tons of drawings. Hopefully I'll be done with my current commission list and then some extra drawings for awaiting clients.
As you can see, in the past 2 days, I've finished drawing 2 images (well... technically colouring in 3 images). And my skills are getting better. I'll be focusing on design production and composition.
Oh, and if some of you were interested in the result of my first few weeks in this grand university that's pushing every student to do at least 60h+ a week:

So far, it looks above average with my grades, meaning I won't drop out. At least... so far. Dunno how it will be the next 8 months xD

An anthro puppy husker needs financial help
Posted 10 years agoCan't really say much. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7000732/
She is personally very close to me, but not even I can help her much.
Maybe someone of my watchers could. Even helping her finding a job could be awesome. She has been hunting for months now. Every day couple of her applications have been sent out to places close by or stuff she could do online. Nothing yet. Maybe someone of you might know something. Every bit helps.

Commissions Open!
Posted 10 years agoI am back open again! Now that the moving is over, I can go back to drawing.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14796932/ updated form of my refsheet.
Yes, I had to increase the prices a bit. If I want to live here in the Netherlands somewhat decent and without relying too much on my parents, I need to get a bit more out of it then just 3-5$ per hour. ;w;
And yes, I also do animations, but only when I feel like doing them. Maybe I do one of those YCH animations in the future. Though I have no clue how much I'll be asking for it.
Comics are also possible. It's cheaper than commissioning several pictures alone. How much, dunno yet. Can vary.
Example: 4 fullbody commissions for 2 people: 200$. But with a comic commission, it would be maybe around 100$ for 4 panels for the same quality but not always fullbody views.

Update irl
Posted 10 years agoSo yeah. 10 days in, had two people visiting me... I would say it's a success. Only things left doing are health insurance, final steps of the registration at the municipal, and getting ready for school.
So far, I enjoy living in the Netherlands :3
Thanks for the support everyone. <3

Windows 10 - Beware, people who build their own PC - Update
Posted 10 years agoSo... I found out that you can easily upgrade your OS to Windows 10. Might take like 2 hours or so, depending what memory drive you have (SSD or HDD).
You can even do clean installs (formatting your drive and reinstall Windows) with Windows 10 on the same computer. Why? Because Microsoft keeps data of your hardware IDs on their servers. The ID of your Motherboard, Graphics card.... So if you clean install Win10 and skip the parts during installation where they ask for the key, your Win10 gets activated again after install once it connects to the internet again.
But what about upgrading your PC? Not the software, the hardware. After a year or two or three, your PC's hardware might not be able to keep up with progress. Games will require better hardware to run. Or your hardware is slowly dying because that's life. Nothing is forever.
So what happens if you upgrade your hardware and logically reinstall your OS? Your Win10 won't be activated anymore. That is, if you installed Win10 right away.
You can use the old retail license even after the July 31st 2016 deadline, provided you used it to upgrade to Windows10 before this deadline. It'll get registered as part of the free upgrade program and will work for upgrades indefinitely. Just with quite a long bypass. First you'll need to install your previous OS, then maybe update it to the latest version, and then finally upgrade to Windows 10. All in all, it might take 8 hours to do so.
If you happen to have to upgrade your hardware passed this year or you don't want to do this long bypass, then you'll need to buy the whole Win10 version.
However, if you are a person who only buys pre-build computers with pre-installed softwares, then you don't have to worry about this. Because the companies who pre-install Windows on computers always take the latest versions. Which is Win10 now.
In otherwords, Windows 10 isn't completely free if you enjoy building your own PC.
Point of reference:

And for those who haven't downloaded Windows 10 yet, but would like to:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sof.....load/windows10
I recommend making a bootable USB. Just plug in an empty USB into your computer, select said USB in the Windows Media software, and then startup the setup in the USB. For me, letting the software upgrade your PC on its own takes almost an entire day. With the USB, it downloaded within moments and installed it in less than an hour.

Moving irl and Game design school
Posted 10 years agoHello, everyone.
Thank you for taking your time looking at this journal. I'll simply explain that I'm moving in real life to another country to study a specific school there my country doesn't fully provide. Which would be game design.
And I'll throw in some info about commissions in the future.
So... about the moving. A bit complicated. But arrangements have been made and I'll be signing the contract in the first week of August. As well as bringing all my stuff in there.
The apartment itself is in a typical Dutch neighbourhood, so that's really positive. The biggest issue so far is the moving itself. So far away... costly to transport... just tons of stuff.
The school. Yes, I've been accepted by the game designing school. Not 100% yet as another instititute needs to verify my diplomas as well as making a loterry system. I have about 1-2% chance to not being accepted. That's good enough for me to prepare to move all my stuff over there. The definite okay I'll get is mid July. Next week.
I'll be with 29 other students going through 4 years of 3D visual artist. And the teachers estimate that a good third won't get through all four years. Won't be me! Because I'll be giving 150% throghout these 4 years. Why? Because this is my dreamjob <3
And now about commissions. I'll be doing a lot more art while I'm at that school so I can pay off my rent and additional costs to take off the burden for my parents. Rather drawing for money than doing other kind of job.
So, to get more publicity, I keep my prices as low as they are now, and increase over time as I improve myself. Right now, it's about 3$ per hour. And that is, sadly enough, not enough! I'll do a lot better once I do about... 7$ or more per hour.
So that everybody knows: I have to get about 500$ a month for rent, health insurance, internet, and mobile coverage. If that is all covered, than I can call myself a very happy naga! :D
Till I achieve that goal, I'll be working my ass off for little payment. Hopefully I'll make it through mentally x.x
Anyway. I hope for some support to spread the word around during the next 6 months or so till I get a decent stream of commissioners coming towards me.
Till next time, yours truly, Sasha~

Oddworld: New n Tasty "review"
Posted 10 years agoIt's been a while since I posted my last journal.
And today, it's about yet another remake. This time, Oddworld: New N Tasty. A remake of the 1997 title, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.
A bit of history first. Abe's Oddysee has been one of my old and first games I've played on my own for several hours. It's not my very first games I've ever played, but I remember this one being the first that was the most fun for me. Thus, it's still a great videogame in my eyes. One of my top 10.
I love the art style, gameplay and its mechanics, jokes, ambience... Just a real fun experience over all.
So, having said that... I'm not a huge fan of the remake. The first time I saw the trailer, I was already hugely disappointed. Why? Because it has a camera that follows you instead of the side-scroller where it goes scene by scene. The reason why it kept me so concerned is... as it might be useful and more "modern", it also leads to the issue that so many puzzle aspects of the game won't be doable anymore because the camera is constantly in an angle, making it harder to estimate the right timing.
They also made this game a lot easier by giving difficulity modes. Which you didn't have in the original. Some might find it better, I find it takes out some of the tension. Hence why I played in Hard... but it's still a bit easier than the original.
Some of the 'puzzles' have been simplified. For example the bombs you have to disable by hitting them once when the flash the green light. In the original, they were blinking at the same speed just in a specific pattern. In the remake, all of the bombs have the same pattern, it's just that the green flashes at every fourth beat a bit longer. Which I find a bit... generic. And with the tiny time-window, it's a bit harder than the original, hehe.
So yeah... with 'better' graphics, it's nice to look at. Especially with such a high-resolution. And I have to give them credits for keeping a good ambience... but it wasn't as good as the original. Some of the warm feeling of hand-drawn animations and backgrounds gets lost with 3D rendering. And what bugs me the most is: there is no momentum in the remake. If you run off the cliff, you suddenly hang mid-air in front of the cliff and drop down. It's more like a cartoon at that point.
Final verdict: I wouldn't buy this one. Unless you want easier puzzles and sharper resolution. Otherwise, keep with the old one. It's also a lot cheaper than the remake.

Metro 2033 vs Metro 2033 Redux
Posted 11 years agoSo... getting close to 300 watchers, yay, hehe.
As I went through the list of journals, I've noticed that there are a few people who give out good informations about games they have rescently played and if it is worth it to buy.
I have a huge admiration towards the original Metro 2033. With two friends who ready both books, I've discussed a lot about the Metro universe and its meanings.
I loved the gameplay and that there was a hidden ending you'd achieved if you explored almost everything and tried your best being as kind as possible with killing as few enemies as possible.
So, as a strong supporter of this game, I was of course rather excited to say the least when I heard they are making a remake with the latest engine. Quite awesome if you think about it when they can do something like that this easily without redoing the entire game.
So far, I have played 1h of each side by side (switching to the other game every 15min or so).
My first impressions of Metro 2033 redux:
First of, the menu itself. Showing off all the publishers and dev teams and engines and whatnot takes a lot longer than the original. To skip that, you have to replace an empty copy of a file called legal.ogv under 2033 folder. .../Metro 2033 Redux/2033/legal.ogv (you can look up in the steam community forums about this in more detail).
You have the options in there, which is nice. Nothing to complaim about there. There is just one thing I am missing and that is the exit button which was usually the exit door in the menu screen with a guy standing next to it. You have the door in the redux version as well, but it's just for the looker. The exit the game, you just have to simply press esc. It might be simpler, but I still liked the charm in the original one. It's something I don't mind missing, though.
The gameplay itself didn't change it all. I've started both with ranger difficulity. And it is rather identical to each other. Same enemies... maybe different spawn points than usual, but otherwise, same amount. (Maybe a tad easier to kill them in easy ranger in the original game than in redux).
The gunhandling is the same as Last Light. And that's what made me a bit disappointed. You can only carry two weapons at a time. In the original, you had a slut for machine guns, heavier guns, and pistols. You could even just equip the knig alone. In redux, you only have the shortkey for that.
Then there is the issues with the GUI in the redux version. So far, I only could count how many ammunition I've left through walking around in the village where I don't have my guns out in my hands. Otherwise, I wasn't able to check while in the metros. Maybe it's a bug, I don't know. (don't forget, ranger removes usually all the GUI you have unless you just picked something up or switch weapons. Last Light didn't have ranger mode as difficult as 2033, so maybe there were a few glitches when they've tried converting it into the new engine, I don't know exactly).
So far, all the cutscenes in the remake are from first-person-perspective. The original was a bit more cinematic as it caught different camera angles. Now this... is actually decent. Both versions have their cons and pros. So the change, I would say, is well thought out and makes sense.
However, in the redux, you have some cutscenes taken out, others put it. One of which that were put in makes me feel a bit dum-witted because the game thinks I couldn't have seen it coming. It tried to be more cinematic with that. Other cutscenes it took out you can just walk around while the two are talking. I feel the reason why they've made a conversation into a cutscene in the original is because it was a discussion that would raise questions to the gamer. If you don't make it into a cutscene, the gamer might think it is not important or they don't pay attention to it.
Graphics... well... Redux is a lot better with that, no doubts. However... only issues I have are the character models are a bit iffy at times and the flare of various light sources are annoying. Would have loved if they had an option to turn that off.
Conclusion:
It's nice they made a remake of it in their updated engine. It's not only a nice treat for the fans, but also a good marketing strategy. Because they can make more money out of it since they haven't released a new game again. With the gained money, they could make a new game with a higher budget. So I am all up for that.
However... If you are someone who prefered the 2033 over Last Light, you will most probably not like the Redux version. Unless you want to see 2033 in better graphics.
My recommendation: if you loved Last Light, you will love the Redux versions of both of them - 2033 and Last Light. Or, if you are a console fan and prefer gamepad controlling, redux would be better as well. Otherwise, stay or get the Metro 2033 original version. It's cheaper and in my opinion is still a bit better. (That's just an opinion, not a fact)
I hope you enjoyed this little first impression of mine ^^

Opening Commissions!
Posted 11 years agoYes, you are reading it correctly, I am finally opening for commissions. For the first time. Ever. In my life. x3
What's the occasion for it, you might ask? Well, a good artist friend has an issue with her graphic tablet. As of right now, doing commissions for the web is her only income. So to help her out to raise some money to buy a new tablet, I thought I could do some commissions.
So here I am.
For your information, though: This is my first time doing commissions and I feel rather anxious about it.
So... I decided to get 5 slots open. Maybe even more depending how it goes.
Payment will be done through Paypal.
Information and references will be sent to me by note.
I will do the drawing first and then accept payment.
Prices:
PirceSheet http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14796932/
So if you are interested, post a comment here with a reference picture.
It will not be first come first served. If I don't like the scene idea nor the character, I will decline. But that will be unlikely.
If I approve of it, send me a note with all the detail you want in it and the reference pictures, if you desire to show me more than one.

Overgrowth - AWESOME
Posted 13 years agoAnyone who has nothing against gory effect or simple fighting should definitely buy this game.
The indiependent develepment group Wolfire (with only 4 people) made their own engine and a small game with it.
Called Overgrowth.
The gameplay is simple. You are a fighter who has to kill his oponent. But for us is the most awesome aspect, that the characters are furries. Mostly bunny anthros. But you can also play as a wolf and a feline.
If you watch a gameplay video of it, you will quickly realize that the game doesn't run on any life bars. The chars die by how hard and how server a punch or kick is.
Another awesome feature is that you can parkour just like in Mirrors Edge but you also can jump really really high.
Also you can make your own maps.
The sad part is: It's alpha.
But for $30 you can't complain... at least I couldn't.

Making a drawing table

Just put the silicon between the edges. Now I've to wait till it dried out. With such a table I could make hand drawn animations. But I'll use it mostly for drawing more corectly.
Greetings from Switzerland!

For those who don't like gore, blood and animated flesh, I wouldn't recommend watching it. Otherwise, you have to check it out! A must see!

Holidays
Posted 13 years agoThree weeks of holidays have just started. Can't wait to write my stories and model some characters. Yes, I do some sculptris and Cinema 4D.
However, After those holidays I won't have much time to work on my hobbies. Or at least not that much anymore. Right when they are over, I have to write exams in french, english, german, physiscs and electronics.... and all at one day. And at the same time I have to prepare for a presentation in electronics and french, as well as a nig presentation in general knowledge.
The last few days were really exhausting. So for the next couple of days I will play Fallout 3 a bit, trying to relax.
And how far is my main story (you might ask)?
Well, I'm now at 85'000 words, and the main characters are just settled together. From there does my story acutally start. I really hope I would at least finish the first half of the story I got in my mind, before the exames start.
Interested in some bad news?
I'm sort of in a shortage of money. 600$ is my monthly 'salary '(it's not a real salary since I don't earn money in school). And 490$ goes on the rent, so I have the rest 110$ are for food, drinks and cloths for an entire month. And in switzerland that is pretty damn sparse, considering 1 kilo bratwurst (normal sausage) is about 30$, 1 kilo chicken 20$ and even freakin' salade costs 10$ in avarage. I don't even start with the restaurants (20$ for a simple pizza with tomato and cheese).
Maybe I will look for a job for the night during the week. Even if I have to go to shool on the next day. You have to crack open some eggs to get the goods out.
I just hope everything will turn out good in the end.
PS: found my CAKE-CD again! Can't wait to listen to them.
