Posted 12 years ago:( gluten free chicken tenders. I should have trusted marzipan when they told me the chicken tenders smelled funny. THEY TASTED FIIIINE. THEY WERE FROZEN.

In other news (depending on what my weekend schedule looks like due to this unending rain getting in the way of any plans), I might take some real media requests. I want to offer a couple of pencil busts once in awhile and I figured this would be a good way to gauge how long it takes me to work off of a reference.

End of the month, nobody has money???
Posted 12 years agoI have no idea if it's just a coincidence, but Marzipan and I have noticed that around the end of the month, people seem to be less likely to buy things than if it were earlier in the month. Moz said something about monthly paypal allowances, and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it?
Regardless, I've kind of noticed lately that even popular artists are having trouble selling things, or for as much as I used to see them sell things for.
Is everybody just tight on money right now?

Reselling my Adoptables
Posted 12 years agoI get some questions regarding my terms for reselling adoptables, so I figured I would put them all in one place:
1. Please link my rules in some way when you resell my adoptables. I would prefer people to know that I don't allow certain things with my designs, such as underage adult artwork.
2. Try not to sell a design for more than you got it for, but I understand if you are attached to a design and want to make it worth your while to sell. This rule doesn't apply if you have original artwork of the character.
3. If you can let me know when you are reselling, that would be great! I like to see who ends up with my designs, and sometimes I like to buy my favorites back myself.
4. As always, credit the original art back to me. That's kind of a no-brainer, though :3

-If interested in a design, leave a comment. Once I confirm, I will mark the adoptable as HELD for you. This hold will last for up to 24 hours. If I haven't received payment within 24 hours, I will put the adoptable back up. Once you pay, I will mark the adoptable as SOLD.
-I will give the unwatermarked image to the first person to leave a comment and pay. Please wait till I confirm before you pay, though!

I've been tossing around the idea of doing a raffle, but I have no clue what anyone would want to win!
I was thinking something along the lines of a ref sheet or a gift certificate for a commission/adoptables (KODollars. DUNCEBUCKS ;w;) or a custom design.
Any ideas?

Update on commissions.
Posted 12 years agoGetting my character directory off the front page, mostly.
Okay, I finished all of my backed up SL commissions! Yaaay! Go giraffe!
I will start working on some of my custom adopts, and hopefully get those finished by the end of the weekend.
And THEN, I am closing up commissions for an indefinite amount of time. I've been really unhappy with my art lately and I want to focus on character building and making drawings of my personal characters that I really like. When I was putting up my character directory, I was like, "Woah, is that all the art I've done for so and so?" I also realized that I've done maybe a page and a half of uploads since LAST YEAR, and most of those are adoptables. Don't get me wrong, I love designing characters, but I barely have drawn any personal furry art in a year and that sucks :(
So yeah. Commissions are gonna be closed for awhile until I feel comfortable enough with my art to open them again.
Okay, time to go email out my finished commissions =w= they took me way too long from start-to-finish for just colored sketches, but I am actually happy with them.

Posted 12 years agoWe got the DIY kit to set up our internet yesterday, and it didn't work. We ended up going outside to look to see if there was something up with the cables, and holy shit it was like a fucking coaxial cable graveyard out there. It looks like there are about 4 or 5 severed cables just hanging around our house???
We tried to hook it up at what looked like the source coming in from the pole, but no dice.

Marzipan and I managed to use up all 5 gigs of their wireless hot stop internet and now it's at 2G speeds, which is apparently completely unusable???
anyway, yeah, I will probably be more active now that we will have internet.
PS: I will get some commissions later this week hopefully so yeah, keep an eye out for emails and stuff. Just damn it's like I learned how to un-draw in the past three months.

Posted 13 years agoI can't figure out if I need to scrap my adoptables? Or if I'm allowed to upload leftover sheets? I seriously don't understand, because adoptables are being lumped in with auctions when people are explaining and they are two completely different things.
Regardless, this is stupid that I even have to worry. I get that flooding can be a problem, but this is not the way to solve it. What they're doing is unprofessional and caving into bullshit value judgements about ~artistic integrity and how character designs and YCH auctions AREN'T """REAL""" ART.
It's pathetic. It's pathetic and childish and hurts artists who use this site as a tool to make money.
Seriously, are we going to start banning commissions because of the fact that people are greedy and sell-outs for drawing for other people? Commissions don't have the same """heart""" as doing your OWN work, am I right? And people just post so MANY of them!
I'm sorry, but if you feel like you're being spammed, you can unwatch people. If you feel like the front page is being spammed, you're actually just wrong. I was always able to go to the front page and get my fill of awkwardly drawn dog dick without being flooded with those terrible, terrible auctions and adoptables.
The fact that I depend on this site for a significant portion of income makes me feel frustrated that I can't just pack up and leave for somewhere that isn't as terrible. Seriously. The admins need to grow up and stop policing its userbase for really dumb shit.

Shaded vs. Flat Adoptables???

On one hand, a shaded adoptable can look more like a finished picture. But on the other, one that's not shaded might act better as a reference.
I usually do my Base Adoptables as shaded, either as cell-shaded like my Red Panda Adoptables or, like my Cervettes, as painted shading.
What do you think?

Do you like colored backgrounds, or white ones?
Just something that's been on my mind.

Posted 13 years agoJust reminding everybody that I still don't have actual internet at our house. We are using a wifi hotspot on Marzipan's phone, so it's really limited what I can do from home. Because of the limited data, I've mostly only been checking FA occasionally at night and over the weekend, and I can't send designs out on weekends very easily. I'm going over to my parents' house for dinner tonight, so I will send out designs then.

Why I've been spamming adoptables.
Posted 13 years agoOkay...so as my watchers have probably noticed, I've been really spammy with my adoptables. This is because I've finally got the means to start paying off some serious credit card debt I ended up with when I was living in NY--mostly medical bills and groceries, and some rent. Because holy hell, it is expensive as fuq to live there.
But yeah, during the holidays, I wasn't able to get the same hours at my job and I've pretty much been living paycheck to paycheck since december. Thanks to my parents and Marzipan being awesome, I definitely haven't been starving or anything, but all of the money I've been pulling in since then has been going to debt payments.
I don't have the time to do regular commissions with my job, so I wasn't about to take on even more commissions, considering I have a good many in my queue already. The custom adoptables are a little different, because they take SO much less thought than a regular commission. Basically, adoptables are much lower stress than commissions are right now.
Luckily, my last payment is at the end of February, so I'll probably be able to get back to finishing commissions up properly and focusing more on personal art. I might reopen commissions again once I don't have hells of debt hanging over my head, but we'll see! I really just want to focus on personal art for awhile.
Anyway, that's my deal! I mean, I really, really, REALLY love designing characters, and I'm glad adoptables are a thing so I can do that without having zillions of unused character designs floating around like I used to. I won't stop doing them, but I do want to cut down on the sheer volume I produce.
I just really can't afford to NOT do a bunch right now, because every little bit helps lately.

I just want to sit around and draw Glamfur and watch Criminal Minds until I pass out but I gotta do actual responsible shit like load the dishwasher and sweep and do graphic design work for my job.
Okay but more to the point: I am super unsure about my art lately. Like, I don't hate it, I just don't really feel too awesome about it. I feel like it's really boring and flat and WHY BOTHER about it, especially when it comes to finishing anything. I am trying to learn to paint digitally, but I legit have no idea where to start. It's awful and it takes forever for me and I just don't have the time to teach myself, which is dumb because I don't just want to do cell shading for the rest of my life.
Also, only my adoptables get attention lately, which is kind of a bummer because it makes me not want to post original art, or even finish commissions because I feel like my art is kind of ass right now. I feel like a wad for complaining and I'm glad my adoptables do well, because I lovelovelove character design, but it's really sapping my creativity for anything else. Like, I'm looking at all of my digital stuff lately and feeling hells of MEH about it.
IDK, just venting and I guess explaining why I've been really hesitant to finish my commissions.
