bit of a crazy tech-ie-type question
Posted 15 years agookay so I have a fossil of a wacom tablet... yes when i say Fossil i mean it....
Its an old Graphire (ET) model.
Now I was lookin at the Wacom website and have found that they do not have drivers for Windows 7 (LE GASP NUUUU!) But then do has drivers for Vista....
Now this leaves me with the following question (or two pending on the first answer--just sayin)
Question 1: Does anyone know if the Vista driver will work on a Windows 7 machine?
Question 2: If no to Question one: Does ANYONE know of how I can get damned drivers for my wacom tablet so it can work again on this damn machine?

2: Dust off Apop and start making fractals again....
like seriously need to do these things...

Posted 15 years agoSooooo..... um wow.....
Now don't get me wrong, as a small child-type-thing I grew up on the book... it was an awesome book.. I adored it.
Now last year they came out with a movie that in theory was based off of the children's book.. but the problem comes to this.... Tonight the guy and I sat down to watch it (finally) but the entire Time I was like "Wth.... um... I don't remember this... is it really WtWTA?"
I mean... has it really been such a long time since I was a kid that the story changed? I donno.... but I really didn't like the movie too much....

Guessin I should update...
Posted 15 years agookay so yes, Lappie has been fixed (Regek, you TOTALLY ROXORS! I lurves joo!)
No one is still quite 100% sure of what caused the problem, but the last ditch effort of Dumping FF's Profile fixed the problem.... Weird, trust me I know... I TOTALLY know Trib, you don't have to say that again...
Anywho.... Other updates.... I are a sleepy panther.... also busy.
Work has been AWESOME. I adore workin at the toll booth. I get my solitude, but also I still get interactions with the clients (aka people who use the toll roads) though people seem to be shocked at how cheerful/chipper/happy I am with my job.. I mean, what on earth do you think I should be, I have something similar to a "Dream job" for me... True the pay isn't the best, but its still awesome.
Other news... FWA is a bust.... Sorry everyone, the Skunk-man I and just cannot swing going to Atlanta for a con at the moment. Finances aren't the issue, its just not being able to get the time off. my schedule is kinda weird. I mostly work Saturday's and Sundays.... and one to three days mid-week... soo yeah, conventions on the weekends + working weekends do not make it easy to get to conventions. Though we may or may not be at AC in a few months.... it all depends on IF i can justify taking three or four days off... who knows, we'll figure it out as we go along.
Yes we've set the date...
No I'm not gonna tell it here.. those who need to know already know and that's all that is needed to know at this point in time..
Yes I'm busy.. very busy...
No, I'm not really able to do any art really atm which is why my own hasn't been posted lately. Lappie is Linux which means Apop doesn't run on it ergo, no fractals.... I've not been around a camera or have had models so no photography done of late.. and honestly, I've hit a dry spell with drawing.... it happens.. it doesn't suck right now b/c I've just not felt like drawing of late... eventually I'll get back around to it... MAYBE.
other then that..... Actually no, I think that's it.... Enough of an update... I think... the skunk and I are gonna go to sleep now....
Peace.

Customer Service techs treating callers like Idiots?
Posted 15 years agoIs there some unwritten law now days that says that if someone is calling Technical support for a VERY simple fix of Changing one's POP-3 email password since the computer they are using has somehow lost the original password, make the problem far more elaborate and treat the person such as myself as if they were a total idiot?
Really?
Today's phone call..
Me: Hi, my computer has lost its pop-3 password, and I don't remember it. I need it reset...
Philipean's rep: Oh, I'm sorry you can't remember your password, I certainly can understand your problem, let me help you by giving you a temp password, but first I need to varify your account. What your phone number? (yes she said What your, not What is, or What's but what your)
Me: 123.456.7889 (no that's not my phone number, just an example for this demo)
Her: I'm sorry but I can't pull up that number in my system. Just to make sure I have it right you said 123.4657898 Right?
me: No... (repeat the number once again)
her: I still don't see that number Miss.... Could it maybe be another number?
me ~sighs~ It shouldn't be because I changed it from my Fiancée's number 5 months ago... but try this one xxx.xxx.xxxx......
Her: Oh, I found that one... now what's the name of the account?
(This continues for like 15 minutes as I'm just like "god... Why the hell do I have to call this prick who I Can BARELY understand.....")
So Finally after she's 100% for sure that the account is mine
(even by going to the extent of having me check my mac address on the modem... yes she went there.... after which she was like "To avoid answering that question you should set up a series of security questions such as "what's your favorite moving, your favorite song, Artist and Band...." And after like 5 or 6 minutes of being explaining that honestly my favorites change just as often as I change my shirt, she's STILL insisting that I set up a security question. To which I ask her "Does it have to be all four?" FINALLY she says no, it only has to be one... easy now.... So I choose "What's my favourite movie" I tell her The Boondock Saints. She's like The boondocks? so another 5 minutes of explaing not just how EACH WORD IS SPELLED and that its three words not one all run together, we FINALLY deal with the problem. Yes, at this point in time the call is at a grand total of 25 minutes into the call..... and I was really starting to loose my cool over how this woman was treating me and talking down to me. So.. finally the trouble shooting)
Her: How do you know that your email has lost its password?
Me: .... Because whenever I load up my email, it tells me that I have to enter a password?
Her: So when you open your email program it prompts you to enter a password, Right?
Me: yes....
Her: <insert more "You're an idiot comment here while restating exactly what I had explained to her earlier.">
Me: <completely cutting her off mid sentance> Woah woah woah... please Wait for just a moment. Look, I've spent a better part of 5 years working in Technical positions including for both DSL ISP and Cable ISPs on top of for Cellphone companies. I'd really appreciate it if you DIDNT talk to me as if I had no clue of what I'm doing here because I know what I need to do, I just need YOU to change the password. Please?
Her: <Awkward silence>
Me: ~annoyed sigh~ Hello?
Her: Okay.. so open up your Internet Explorer, let me know when its open.
Me: I already have it open....
Her: Its open now?
Me: ...... yes.
Her: okay, go to ~mutters the begining part of the address~.rr.com
Me: Wait, what was before the .rr? I did not understand what you said....
Her: Selfcare.rr.com
Me: ~typing it in as she begins to give the "s-as in Sam" stick~ I'm there...
Her: Really?
Me: Yes... what's the temp password....
Her: Enter in your email address the ~insert email address here~
Me: .... Just, what's the password....
Her: xxxxxxxxxxx
Me: thanks.... ~starts trying to get her off of the phone due to the time now getting to the 45 minute point~
Her: ~not accepting the brush off to get off the call, continues to do the whole "you know nothing, you need to do this" routine.~
Now, after this was Finally done, and I went back over to Evolution (my email system I use for my Ubuntu laptop) I put in the password as I'm ignoring her giving steps on "how to put in your password into whatever Microsoft program that Bill Gates pushes onto people) She finally eventually asks "So did those steps work?" to my answer is: No, I didn't need them, All I had to do was put my password into the field that said "Please enter password here and press continue to continue...." She seemed less then thrilled at the fact that I actually was smarter then she was, and thusly when she was like "Is there anything else I can assist with?" which I stated once again that I needed my phone number updated to the CORRECT number instead of my Fiancée's number. She though, couldn't do that there and had to connect me to a "Speciality group" THANK god this "Speciality group" was state side, and she even commented about how the systems in the Philippines didn't always update even though they should update after 24 hours, she'd send the email across to their side to get the information updated. When she asked if there was anything else she could assist with, I kinda jokingly stated "Yeah, the company really should move their technical support BACK to the states... I'm really getting tired of the not being able to understand them when I'm trying to get a simple problem fixed, and more so I really don't appreciate being spoken to as if I'm an idiot.." both her and I laughed about the comment and she was like "Yea, I agree, and I hear it all the time, but sadly we're not able to bring the Tech side back to the states...."
Short and Sweet: I hate the Philippines only for the fact that their people CANT speak English at all, but more over They really do not like talking to us either. But I guess, what can one expect from cheep labor?
Really?

Job Seekers Be CAUTIOUS
Posted 16 years agookay, so as some of you peeps may know, first off, yes, I'm on the job hunt.... this economy sucks, but i'll leave that to the man to talk about, that's really not my place, want or desire... nuff said.
So yesterday, I sent out roughly 25 resumes to all sorts of various companies that appeared to be legit. From a WIDE assortment of job finding sites, both nation wide and local, Weeeeell, today while I'm looking at one of my job finder sites I see a HUGE WARNING of how they've recently discovered scamed posts of job offers. And not to mention seeing that i'm obsessive on reading though things with damn near a fine tooth comb, I see several of the new postings for today talking about other postings that were actual scams or bitching about the job where as it says that they'll train, they actually wont... and so on and so forth.
Well, after having spoken with one of my very close local peeps, combo'ed with checking my email before me and the man went out on a mini date how bad this really is. Come to find out that in my searchings and scannings (not sure via WHICH site yet, but i'll find out ~fist shakes~) that one of the job posts that seemed honest and real, honestly wasn't real at all.
Yep... Good ole Scammers.... honestly, what is this world coming to where they'll target those who have next to nothing and are on the job hunt? After doing a good ole faithful google search since I wasn't familiar with the company name, from the 15, 16 and 17th of this month were tons of citations of this exact company and exact woman and this scam. Claiming that there is a job opening, and that interviews are going on after the holidays, and how she wants you to call to set up an appointment time, but first wants you to reference their "free credit report" site..... and though I didn't check the site, i'm fairly certain that they wanted PPI and CC information... go fig.
Honestly, what has this world come to?
if I ever find these people, guess what, I won't need a job b/c i'll run them through a meat grinder and make meat pies.... mmmmmm tasty, moist, juicy meat pies... wanna slice?

What's new
Posted 16 years agosoo a couple of days ago my mother unloaded a good bit of various crafting things on me that she either didn't need / didn't use or that belonged to my grandmother.
And as such I've started to work on some new things. I'm finding that i did kinda miss doing sewing and the like, so as such I've started to make a little plush Grizzly bear. When its finished I'll take a picture of it, and possibly sell it..

9/22/09 and 9/23/09 Recaps of AWESOMENESS!
Posted 16 years agoOh my Tuesday.... Where to begin.
Tuesday was such an amazing day that at this moment in time I'm still slightly lost for words on how Epic it was.
Yes, the day started out reeeeeeeally early where as my wonderful Skunk droped me off at Zoey and Spector's place at like 7am. On the way out, he had caught a gecko and was all proud and bouncy.
Well, the three of us made the drive from where the two of them live down to the Wonderful World of Disney's Magic Kingdom. Reason behind this: Zoey's birthday of course. For the 2009 year Disney has been running a "Visit for free on your birthday" thing, which several people have taken advantage of the deal. We were much the same. All of us have friends or family who work for the Mouse, so getting Comp tickets is fairly simple.
The Boat Ride Over
So in order to get the the Magic Kingdom, you can either take a Tram over or Ride the Boat over to the park. But usually the Tram is slow, stinky and hot, so the Boat is a FAR better choice in arriving into the park. So as we approched the gates to the boat, I took one of Zoey's arms and Spector took the other, and about 2 minutes later we (Spector and myself) started hand motioning and singing "We're on a Boat mothah f'errr!" and Zoey was like "NONONO STOP RIGHT NOW!" Thing that made this the MOST funniest thing ever, was that Spector and myself didn't plan that at all!
Main Gates
So all of us, our comp passes in hand come up to the front gates. Their morning Opening Ceremonies were just starting. Now having been a former Disney employee, I always HATED if not down right Loathed Opening Ceremonies at the MGM Studios (oh sorry gotta get it right, its the Hollywood Studios now.... feh). Their opening Ceremonies was no where near as awesome as the Magic Kingdom's. at MGM all the cast members would form a human line in their main area and once the "special" music would play they'd all march, keeping in line with their other coworkers just so that none of the guests would dart in front of them and what not. VERY boring, not really enjoyable at all. Magic Kingdom though, TOTALLY different. The Mayor of Main Street USA came out with his backup dancers, and they did two songs before the Train was getting close. As the train was still on its approach, they did one more. Then The Stream Train arrived with the Honoured Family of the Day, Mickey, and some of his Various Friends. From there, One more song, then the Magical Faerie dust that allows the Magic Kingdom to open.
The Morning already was barely 8am, and it was already to an AMAZING start.
Main Street USA
Upon entering, Zoey ends up corrupting myself and Yuki into getting Autograph books.... which the very first signature to go into it was Pinnocho. After Pinnocho, we saw Mary Poppins was also out in Main street, so we met her as well... I felt REALLY bad for Miss Poppins.... Her face was all beaded with sweat, it reeeally made my skin cringe in horror. But anyways from here we decided that it was now off to Adventure Land, buuuut as we were leaving Miss Poppins from next to us we hear "So I see you found your friends." In a cheerful happy 'I work for disney' sort of way. One of the Guest Services women earlier in the day had seen Yuki waiting outside for the rest of us, and I guess they had gotten to talking for a bit. So now inside the park she was quite happen to see that the four of us were finally united. More over, we had decided to do a Pirate Cats type of theme (well, at least Me and Zoey did...) So there was Zoey in her Goofy Pirate head thing, me in my Capt'n's hat, and dave and Yuki..... all of us though (here's the kicker) had decided to wear our tails for the day. Well, the guest services woman asked if we were dressed up because we were planning on staying for the party that night to which all of us were like "um, what party?" and she told us that Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween was going on. As the conversation continued, she found that we weren't planning on going because of money on top of not having known about it, but would be interested in going if we had the ability to. And after that, the four of us found ourselves sitting down in Guest Services as this Wonderful woman comped us four Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween passes (60 dollars plus tax a pop.... remember there's four of us as well.)
Already we're all flying on cloud nine.
Finally we get to make our way down through Main Street USA, stopped by several people, Scoop (a local News reporter for Main Street), The Mayor and his Wife, and Mrs Beauty Queen and her friend, all of which stopped us to chatter with us and get pictures with us and what not as we passed by. From the front gate to Adventure Land I think all in all it took us close to an hour to make the 30 minute passage!
Adventure Land and Frontier Land: Oh my.... So when we first got to adventure land, I was pushing Yuki in her Wheelchair, and suddenly I hear a "I LOVE YOU JACK!" from Zoey, and as I look up, off in the distance I see and hear Jack Sparrow doing his "so you wanna be a Pirate" show. Of course, my brain instantly snaps with "gotta be there now!" and I grip down even harder on the wheelchair and take off. Yuki poor girl started freaking out as I sprinted and was like "You're gonna crash! Don't crash me! AIEEE!" the entire time before we came to a PERFECT stop before the rope. Where as Zoey a half a second after me did the same sprinting take off. (I still beat her to the show though) and dave was left behind us in just a puff of smoke, skid marks and the question of "uhh what just happened?" Great times. The "So you wanna be a Pirate" Show was amusing, but it saddens me that there Are no Meet and Greets with the wonderfully, handsome and amazing Jack Sparrow (Capt'n of course!) As the show was finishing up, we all saw Capt'n Hook off in the distance at his Meet and Greet location, but sadly he had a HUGE line... so we wandered into the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Always fun times in that ride.
From there, checked once more at Hook's line... still annoyingly huge -- made a point to do him later (but alas, must wait till next time to meet with good ole' Capt'n Hook-- oh well.) So from here, Spector, Zoey and myself wanted to go onto Splash Mountain (YAAAY it was open!) and thus we did. omg. I forgot how much FUN Splash Mountain was. There was me and Zoey in the front of the boat, and then Dave on the second row and we all were singin along with the music and just having a WONDERFUL time. Though Technically Splash Mountain is in Frontier Land, the two of them are so simular, and very close to each other, that a lot of the time, people DONT realize that they're two different zones. After Splash Mountain though Spector was like "OOO I Wanna ride that!" while he pointed at the Big Thunder Mountain. Zoey and I didn't want to ride that thing at all... I for the simple fact that I remember back in Middle school when my class had to ride it with one of those Science gadget thingies that measured pressure or whatever it was that you feel on the ride, and I didn't like that it was close to 18 points of pressure at the most intense part of the ride... I personally love Roller coasters, buuut certain ones, not so much (Big Thunder Mountain being one). But thankfully Yuki wanted to go on it, so the two of them did while Zoey and I headed off to the Smoking area to just chill in the shade while waiting.
After the two came back we decided that maybe a nip of some food would be best, so there happened to be a Nearby Turkey leg vendor near-by. So that became lunch. Complete with one free by having asked "Hey see that girl over there? its her birthday? Could I get one for her?" and he was like "Sure... I'll just mark it as having had fallen out of the oven." So a free 8 dollar Turkey leg woo!
After lunch we decided to move on to another area. So we hopped onto the Steam Engine Train and headed to our next destination.
Toon Town
Technically speaking its complete name is Mickey's Toontown Fair, but everyone just calls it Toon Town... Easier that way I believe. But really the only thing that was a HUGE to do in Toon Town was Meeting the Princesses and the Fairies. Soooo to the Toontown Hall of Fame Tent we went. And inside we met Cinderella, Bell and Aurora. On the Fairy side we got to meet Tinker Bell and Iridessa, both of which spazzed because we were Pirates. But all in all it was STILL great fun.
So with nothing left in Toon Town to do we moved on.
Fantasyland
Within FantasyLand there was a couple of things we reeeally wanted to do. Zoey made it quite clear that she had wanted to meet Ariel at Ariel's Grotto. So we went over there, sadly there was about an hour and a half wait time, and it wasn't in the shade. But thankfully Yuki couldn't wait in long lines that werent shaded, so we got to skip much of the line because of her pass. so we got right in to visit with Ariel and then right back out! YAAAY! Yes, now Ariel did fuss a slight bit about us being Pirates (she saw the skull and Crossbones on my belt) but she didn't fuss too much when she learned we were good pirates.
Meeting Ariel was very sweet..... but I still think I liked meeting Aurora better (just sayin!)
After Ariel we wandered on and did some more rides and shows finally!
First of all, due to us having been outside and wandering around for quite some time, it was VERY much time for a well needed, and relaxing show, so off to Mickey's PhilharMagic show. Very cute. In the show Donald eff's up and takes Mickey's Magical hat and nearly looses it while traveling through many classic Disney Hits. Mickey finally gets it back and sets right the Orchestra, but alas because of Donald effing off, it meant that Mickey only got to lead in one number. Very cute... not only is it in 3d, but it has "Smell-o-vision" as well. Definite MUST SEE if you ever make it down here.
Afterwards there came a slight rumbling in our tummies, and there was only one ride that could quiet them down. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. This had been the very first time I been on this ride, and it was Very cute. Now whether or not I do the ride again, I don't know to be honest, but it was fun. At the very end it smells like honey even, that I think was the coolest part of it all.
After the Adventures we settled in for a touch of Tea with the Mad Hatter and his wonderful Tea Party..... though Zoey didn't feel like accepting her invite to it. Shesh, what a party pooper! Buuut then again, it was fine. The party left me feeling quite dizzy and finding that the earth wasn't moving in the correct fashion. and even Spector was a bit tipsy.
So with spinning worlds and staggering feet, we decided that it was time to take flight up and above the streets of London and make our own way towards the Second Star on the Right and Straight on till Morning with Peter Pan's Flight. While on Peter Pan's Flight, you get to explore the world of Neverland while joining Peter, Tinkerbell and the Darlings on their wonderful trip through it.
The fly over helped greatly because when we all landed, I could (mostly) walk again and Spector wasn't nearly as Tipsy as he had been before, so we all decided to pay a trip to Cinderella's Golden Carousel. It was very cute and fun, a bit relaxing too!
From here all of us decided to get ready for the future so we made our way to our next "port of call" so to speak.
TomorrowLand
Now in Tomorrowland, we didn't really do a whole lot because it was now VERY late in the day and we started to be a bit sleepy. But we did still manage to do the Monsters, inc. Laugh Floor, and Spector, Zoey, Myself and Yuki got awarded the title of "The most Monstrously Funny family" This was only seconds after Yuki was like "You know, I doubt that I'm going to be on the monitor as something.... and I pointed up to the screen with us on there and she was like "fuckin ell! AWESOME!" After the Laughfloor we moved on to Cosmic Ray's for a bite to eat.
Now at this point in time all of us were like "ug... its nearly 7pm and we're exausted......" sooo we spent quite some time talking about how we were gonna do Mickey's Not So Scary, and Yuki came up with an awesome idea.... and it worked -- mind you the idea wasn't 100% a lie, but it was still close enough to the truth that everyone of us felt better afterwards. Yuki explained to Guest Services that all of us were sick/tired/feeling like crap over all, but would still like to do the Not So Scary, but honestly just didn't have the energy at all any more to manage. So the Guest Services woman, being totally understanding and sympathetic went ahead and moved our tickets so that we can come back at any point in time over the event (with exceptions to Halloween itself because its sold out!)
But all in all the 22nd was AMAZING! Once back to Spector and Zoey's house, the Skunk met us back up there and the four of us spent some time in their pool helping to ease our poor muscles. The Skunk caught a new Cuban Tree Frog that was damn near the size of both of his hands put together, and also a Gecko the length of one of his fingers. He was EXCITED about those two things.
All right. Moving right along. the 23rd. Not offically Zoey's birthday, but still close enough to count. Spector's parents decided to give their birthday gift to Zoey on this night, and we all were invited once again. We all were treated out to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Never having been before, the Skunk and I had a VERY pleasant evening. The Food was amazing, the Band that came on later in the evening was a riot, and the drinks.... well, to Die for! If you even manage to get down to orlando, Seriously go to City Walk to check it out! From 8 pm till damn near midnight we all were out there. Even before we left, the local band that was on the stage played Prince's Purple Rain, and Spector grabbed Zoey, and my Skunk grabed me, and dragged us down to the Dance floor to dance for the song.
What an amazing night.
I couldn't have ever asked for a better two days in my life.
The Haunting in Connecticut
Posted 16 years agookay... So I finally got around to watching this movie today. It might just be me being sick, but honestly I was quite let down over this movie. The previews made it look amazing and terrifying... but ya know, those scenes of amazing horror from the preview was the only real horror behind the movie.
I wish that I hadn't even picked it up last night to be watched.
Honestly to this date the best horror movie I've seen has been 1401...
other then that, I've seriously got to rid of these hopes of based off of real events horror movies.....

"Dear God" Xtc
Posted 16 years agoDonno why, but I have had this song rolling around in my mind most of the evening, but I finally went hunting a little bit and found them, the name of the song, and artist....
I donno why, but its such a peaceful / melodic song.
I donno why, but its such a peaceful / melodic song.
Dear god,
Hope you got the letter,
And I pray you can make it better down here.
I dont mean a big reduction in the price of beer,
But all the people that you made in your image,
See them starving on their feet,
cause they dont get enough to eat
From god,
I cant believe in you.
Dear god,
Sorry to disturb you,
But I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears,
And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street,
cause they cant make opinions meet,
About god,
I cant believe in you.
Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!
Dear god,
Dont know if you noticed,
But your name is on a lot of quotes in this book.
Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
And all the people that you made in your image,
Still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it aint and so do you,
Dear god,
I cant believe in,
I dont believe in,
I wont believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners,
No devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
Youre always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
And its the same the whole world round.
The hurt I see helps to compound,
That the father, son and holy ghost,
Is just somebodys unholy hoax,
And if youre up there youll perceive,
That my hearts here upon my sleeve.
If theres one thing I dont believe in...
Its you,
Dear god.What a wonderful day....
Posted 16 years agoSo today, me and da skunk headed out early this morning to chill at a local water park. True it was mostly to hang out together and a bit of "change of scenery" but it was a wonderful day spent being lazy just floating along in the water.
That ticket upgrade was definitely worth it!

Minour Annoyance
Posted 16 years agoSo as several may or may not know, I live in the lands where Elliott events are held on a regular basis.
So its gearing up for the Summer Festival coming up REALLY soon... like August 15th and 16th really soon. So all this past month I've been peering at the site to find out the hotel info and what not, And trying to find the registration for this even. Well, up till yesterday the site hadn't been updated.
But finally, an update! yay? not really.... the update is an invite to NEXT YEAR'S Spring festival, being held in may of 2010!
wtf?
No news on the Summer festival, or the winter festival. Wtf is going on here?
anyone out in FA land know what gives?
