I used to stream a lot, and then just kind of stopped streaming for a while. I still really like streaming and I think it'd help me concentrate as well! _{(and there won't be any... uh... drama... from my ex anymore)}

I'm not sure yet if I would just be streaming existing commissions, or if I'd be taking new ones in-stream; what would you guys prefer? I'm thinking about making it a weekly thing, like I stream every Saturday or something like that.
Also, do you prefer mic or no mic? I used to use join.me but I'm not sure if my streams might gather >10 people by now, and I don't want to exclude anyone, so I might be using something like Picarto instead.

College is so much different than highschool, a lot more different than I ever anticipated. and uh, a lot more time-consuming than I ever anticipated. @_@ BUT IT WAS SO EXCELLENT. and i expect the years following will be even better, because they'll be more tailored to what I want to do with my art life.

after a run-in with the washer, I was afraid it wasn't going to work anymore, but it is working now, which is a huge weight off my shoulders. Phew!

I hope it won't eventually not work, but by then I hope to have ordered a proper intuos instead of this silly bamboo fun.

It wasn't wet when I took it out. It's currently sitting in a bag of rice, and it doesn't seem to have been shaken around too much; it's not rattley inside. So I think it will be fine in a day or two. This is just a heads-up in case it doesn't get fixed, in which case I'll be noting my commissioners directly.

I do have Photoshop as an alternative, but I'm completely unfamiliar with it, and I'd be afraid of a change in the quality of commissions if I used it.

The issue it's having is that it won't register pen pressure at all. This has happened like a thousand times already, but this time is different. It's not the tablet's fault this time; I restarted all the Wacom driver services in services.msc a hundred times and also restarted my entire computer twice with no change. Plus, the pen pressure works fine in Photoshop and other non-SAI programs. So it's definitely SAI's fault.

I tried booting an entirely different backup copy of SAI and it still had the same issue. I even tried poking around in the .ini. I'm not sure what else to try!

OH YEAH this started yesterday when I saved something really intensive. The SAI window wasn't showing on my taskbar after that, I had to alt-tab to get to it. I thought that was weird, but it had happened a couple times before too, with no issues after restarting SAI (all within the course of the last couple days or so, though).

I was able to pay enough forward to borrow my roommate's tablet for now, so I'm gonna resume work on other stuff from here on in. :D

First things first, I really have to keep that daily goals thing updated. It was saying August 22nd until just now. >w>;
Second, I think I am going to have to do commissions a different way. I'm thinking that I'll open only officially via journal, but with some caveats. Currently they're closed, so I'll make an in-depth announcement about this again once I've gotten through everything I need to do (and I do mean everything).
I already mentioned the third thing but I'm putting it here too: my next semester of college, which begins Monday, has way more uninterrupted time in a consistent fashion which should be useful for maintaining a schedule.

Despite the lack of posts I've been working pretty hard on lots of things, I've just been too scatterbrained to post or send some of it. I need to manage things or else I get all mixed to pieces, which I won't let happen this year!

I'm rapidly learning that college is a huge time sink and it's hard to balance things with it. To try to deal with this I scheduled my classes for next semester in a way that SHOULD allow for a solid uninterrupted block of drawing time every evening, hopefully. Hopefully.

I also wasted a bunch of time playing undertale and being general undertale trash oops

I wanna do another long term challenge thing, and I have a good chunk of time between classes, enough to easily do one a day as a warmup along with my art homework. Plus, I've never done an Inktober and being that I love ink work, it sounds really fun :D This is a great way to "test" how your character looks in my artstyle, if you're considering buying.

Alright.

I'm a very academic person and I like to keep my focus on schooling for the most part, and this is gonna be a lot more important now that I'm in art school. I want to improve my work.
That said, I'm also really going to need to pay off some things. Scholarships and loans haven't fully paid for it yet, and as you guys know, I actually love doing commission work. I'd far rather enjoy drawing your cute characters and ideas than work any other job I can think of. You guys are awesome <3
So really the only choice I have that allows me to spend less time (due to schoolwork) and make more, is to raise my prices again. Be honest with me, how much do you think my work's worth? Do I undercharge to you, and if so, by how much? Or, do I overcharge already? Bear in mind the customer service aspect, too. My pricelist is a mess right now (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15567774/) and I'm probably gonna cut out some options from the main list. (Not that I won't do them at all, but journal only for simplicity's sake.)

I'm not going to raise prices yet, I'll most likely hold a stream or a sale right before with the old prices as is my tradition, but for now I'm still closed since I need to work through my queue and organize a work schedule that fits with college.

Oh right! The queue! How is that going to work with this?

Well, my expectation is that college will actually speed up my work productivity. I plan to treat both college and artwork like a job, with a full spread of hours to devote to it specifically. (Before, I treated FA more like a serious hobby, without specific hours.)

The job aspect does have some negative consequences, but my policy has always been not to spend any money until the work is finished, and that's still true! Don't worry, all of it is safe. This means that refunds are always available to anyone.
With that said, because I need to make money as fast as possible to appease my university, I'm going to need to put the work with the highest $-to-time ratio up front. That doesn't mean that other art from earlier is going to be ignored, but I have to get to it later, because I don't have the time to devote to it right now. Basically, I'm going to be doing a payment plan with the university, and when I have made enough to breathe for that month, I can then work on less profitable stuff.

I won't be opening for any new LARGE work until I've finished the high profit-to-time ratio things on queue already, to prevent working out of order, and of course I'll be working on the other things in between. Phantom's refs and the final Zordrak are the lower-ratio commissions, so these will be the ones with unsteady work devotion. They've been on queue for a while, though, so if I ever have a block of free time, I will be cracking down on them hard and working to get them out of the way. I am just not sure when I will have enough free time to do so in college.

Thanks for keeping up with me through everything, and I'd like to be a better artist and businessperson.

On another note, I would love to do live commission streams again. Honestly streams are very fun and I miss doing them, and it's a great way to talk to people. Maybe I can even manage something besides joinme now! :D

My tiny niece stepped on the tablet while the cord was attached to the computer, which broke both the tablet and the cord in a way that they can only be used with each other. It's a bamboo create tablet, so luckily not the crazy expensive kind, and it does still function. But if that cord breaks, I'm fucked and need to get a new tablet.

Just a heads up, haha! I don't need to open for any emergencies just yet, let's hope my cat doesn't get excited about how chewable this cord is.

Due to this, and the fact I start college soon, commissions are closed. I can't take on more work since adding responsibility onto something that's already a huge responsibility is not a good idea. I'll work through current work with the time I do have, and see how college treats me, and if I'm able to open again soon!

Something happened, I don't really want to get into more detail than that but I probably won't be online for a while, my phone and computer and tablet are being taken away because of it. They're at the grocery store and I'm on my sister's computer long enough to let everyone know I will be gone. I asked her when I'd get my stuff back and she said she didn't even start to think of when. So I guess that means it could be tomorrow, it could be a week, or longer- I really really don't know. I am so sorry, I won't be able to work on anything until then. She doesn't really recognize that this is a legitimate business with money involved that cant be taken away just like that.

If you saw my (normal, non-bean) art on the front page, do you think you could recognize it? Why, if possible? Am I consistent?

I'm relatively happy with my style, though I think I could still learn a lot about anatomy and perspective and things like that. But to me at least it does look kind of generic furry half-anime (even though I don't like it called that). I'm just curious if it stands out more than I think it does. But be honest!

Okay, I usually stay out of this FA bandwagon crap. But this is seriously not okay. I delayed posting a journal to make sure I still felt this way, but I really don't like having to turn on adblock and lose access to the community ads I like so much, but I honestly can't stomach these adult ads. It's an artsite, at its core, even if people do use it as a pornsite. It's outright hypocritical (you aren't allowed to post real pornographic material, but they're allowed to display it; despite (theoretically) filtering between SFW and NSFW pages, they have that luxury for outside ads but still do not allow artists to advertise their own, DRAWN material, FROM the site, that is NSFW.. don't see why they couldn't offer the artists FROM THIS SITE the same luxury as they do random, uninvolved pornsites). Plus guests to this website will see that shit regardless of whether your gallery is clean, because whatever SFW/NSFW separating they DO have is all buggy, so no more showing anyone what I do...

All that said, am I leaving? No. But I am going to try to keep up to date more on my other sites, and if they don't redact this change, or if it gets any worse somehow, I may have to change my main base (though I'd still be active here, no matter what, because my watchers are fantastic <3 thank all of you!)

Did you guys forget about it?? WOW it's been so long. It has kicked my ass for well over a year now.
For those of you who weren't even here at the time, on October 3 2013 I posted this and the slots gradually got taken, much faster after my advertisement. It was $3 for a fullbody flats and $5 for a fullbody cel-shaded binary, WOW it's been a long time. I didn't refund anyone the entire stint. I had ended up taking 105 slots instead of 100 by accident (people having multiple ideas under the slot they'd taken mostly). But the real thing was that over time they slowly became "stream if you want it" commissions, which really reduced my ability to get them done quickly.

I learned a lot about my limits and what to do differently next time I do an IA. I'm really glad I got all the way through it finally!
Though if you got a slot don't feel bad- a lot of really good art came of it! And it was ultimately worth it for sure.
