I realized earlier today at work that, well, I'm the tiniest bit fucked this month on money thanks to previous move costs and getting screwed over by the job the move was essentially for. Though the good news is I am set up with a job at the moment, it's still going to be 2, 2 and a half weeks before I get my first paycheck from them, and rent is going to be due soon. That said, I don't want Narco to have to be in the hole for rent and covering part of my share, and I also don't want us to end up late on bills, and while some of them will be showing up after the paycheck gets in, others won't.

Right now, I have a bit of a backlog on commissions that I'll be finishing up over the next week, most of them just need Backgrounds to be marked off as finished, and most of the others are what I consider simple commissions, that don't require Backgrounds, and are left over from the second run of discounted commissions from the move.




I've updated my commission prices just a bit, and I'm now using the Commissions Info tab on my profile, since it's easier to update that than making a whole new spread sheet every time I need to change a little something. Backgrounds, full backgrounds, are no longer included in full colored pieces (this option is more or less gone now) but are going to be counted as add-on's to other pieces. I've added a couple more options on coloring styles, as well as added the more realistic, painterly style for portraits. I've also added a lesser Background option that will give a picture a bit of an atmosphere without going completely all out detailed with setting that will be a free option on all pieces instead of a simple flat Background, at the commissioners request.


As a heads up, these won't be started on until the current commission que is cleared out, so it will be a while, but I'm only going to really be able to take on a handful of new commissions at the moment anyway.

I've been working out some job details with a temp agency that can get me some 'fill in' jobs that'll last a few weeks at a time, which has involved a lot of stupid running around. Good news is, I'm set up for a couple weeks as a desk jockey for the time being. Bad news is, I get to deal with the 'new job' atmosphere pretty much all day every day.... joy.


In other news, I've been talking with the original company I'd been expecting to get a job with, and they 'understand my situation better now' so they're 'looking for a place for me'. Yeah, I'll not be holding my breath for that one.


In final news, we're having chinese tonight!.... from a can :D..... There's something terribly wonderful about can-chow-mein and frozen eggrolls... I don't know. I'm in hate with everything right now.

OK. So, yesterday  narcotic-sprinkles got some pretty bad news about her grandfather having a series of strokes which landed him in the hospital something awful. Problem is, he lives waaay up north, and at the moment, we're not sure if he's going to pull through, so Narc is doing $10 and $15 traditional chibis to raise money for a plane ticket and food costs in case she has to fly up there in the next few days...

Since I'm about the same level of broke as she is right now and can't add to her funds for this, I'm gonna be taking today to do sketches for donations to help her out. SKETCHES only, unfortunately, though I'd be willing to add color onto them for the larger donation. My usual prices for sketches can be found on my featured submission if you need some kind of guideline, but these are going to be for any bit of help.

How the stream will actually work: I'm not going to be posting the stream link publicly, since join.me is a butt and has a cap, but I'll link the stream to the first couple of people interested, and as each sketch is finished, I'll need people to hop off so I can link the next couple of people.



For this, I'm going to be lifting my 'will not draw' limits(except anthro's.... Still can't draw anthros). THIS WILL BE AN ANYTHING GOES STREAM*lord help me* a once in a blue moon opportunity. I'd ask that sketches be limited to 2 characters per, though. Some of these will be quicker sketches, some will be a bit more refined and so on.

...... What do you do when you have a lot of things you need/want to draw, but everything your hand puts out looks..... Not bad, but just... Very not up to your standards? Like nothing will come out right. It's OK, and you could PROBABLY get away with posting it if you felt like an asshole, but when you look at it next to a good piece from yourself, it just looks... Really lacking... Stagnant... Stiff... Dead?


I don't know what's been up with me. I keep trying to work on things, and I'll get a basic sketch done, but once I sit back and look at it, it just makes me really angry with how it came out when I look at it all at once. The angle's really off, or the character LOOKS posed *trust me, you know what this looks like in some pictures*. I really try to uphold a certain level of standards for my own art, especially commission work. I don't like producing things below what I can draw, and it's not fair to people that paid good money for a piece of art for me to just say 'Fuck it, good enough'.


Hint: This is why I've got the disclaimer of I can take a long time to draw shit.


I don't know. Seriously, for the past week, the last few days especially since I'm more or less over being sick finally, I can't for the life of me sketch anything that I'm satisfied with. Not happy with, just satisfied. Satisfied I can work with into the coloring process to fix a lot of things to bring it up to an 'I'm happy to post this for people to see' level, but I just. I don't know. I've got the dreading suspicion I've gotten myself stuck in a funk and I can't seem to force my way out of it by marathon drawing.




Does anyone have any suggestions to break the spell?

I'll be trying each of these methods over the next day or two, with 'not drawing for a bit' being the last, though, it seems like one of the popular options...Not drawing is just... Odd for me <:3

So, yeah, not sure when it happened, or how, but the household has been taken hostage by 'the sick' at the moment. I don't know if I got Narco sick, or if she got me sick, but the 24 hour period that was saturday went from feeling 'ok' in the morning to fighting over which of us was going to go buy cold medicine cause neither of us wanted to do anything... And I'm pretty sure we slept through yesterday entirely, because the next thing I knew, I woke up to a 'Happy Memorial Day' call from my family...


In other news, we're not dead, just... close, haha. It's been clearing up over the course of the day though, for me at least, which is kind of miraculous. I never get better first. It is definitely very 'twilight zone' for me. But yes, I should be back in regular working order by tomorrow, and Narco soon after.

But for now, I'm going back to sleep after chugging some Nyquil.... in moderation, of course :3

So I'll probably be redoing it yet again in the near future.


One thing I'm definitely going to be doing is raising the price of FULL full colored pictures with Backgrounds, because I'm really starting to think I get way too many full pictures to do. Background work takes me a stupid ammount of time between figuring out a background that will work nicely for the characters in it, and actually making the background itself. It literally takes me more time on BG's than it does on the characters, by a lot, so on THAT, I'll be upping the price a bit.


I also want to add in a couple more cheaper options to sort of make up for the price bump, possibly including a 'quick shitty background' version, which would be more of a concept sketch with blocked in color(example goes here when I'm not lazy, unless I'm too lazy and never get to it) but this would be a VERY messy background with just enough detail to know 'it's a jungle' or 'it's the grasslands' or 'no one cares cause there's penis in the picture :D'

I'm also planning to add options for simple colored sketches, simple shaded sketches, colored shaded sketches, and nicely shaded flat colored pieces, but.... this makes for so many little details and tiny price bridges from one thing to the next, but I like to think it does add more options for smaller, but still detailed commissions.


I've also been thinking about trying to work on Timed commissions, like some artists do to work on more painterly stuff, maybe? I need more practice working on things like this, though before I actually get into it, but the timed would work now, possible for sketch pages. I'd open a large canvas, and whoever has that time slot, either 30minutes to an hour or so, and they just throw me ideas and I start sketching. I'm... still very not sure how this would work, or anything yet, so this is still just in idea stages, but yeah, expect a revamp of the current price list yet again in the near future.

So... I've been a bit depressed for the last couple of days. After more or less being promised this job over the phone if I agreed to move way the hell out to bumfuck nowhere land instead of staying in a similar area when we got to change apartments, positive interview after positive interview, I've been given the oh so lovely final promise of 'We'll call you if something opens up'.



I've been so pissed since tuesday it's not even funny, and until last night with a nice little ragesession of vent sketches, hadn't really been able to get anything down, art wise worth looking at.



but yeah, too much job bitching is a real downer, so, back to the hunt, and back to commission work today for me.

So, I managed to pass the first face interview, so, now comes the fun busy work of double checking references, background check, and waiting for them to see the other couple of candidates, so, back to sitting on my hands and waiting for word from them.

Well, I officially have a face interview tomorrow morning at 10AM

Sorry about the down time again. Worked on the last piece over yesterday and today. I could not for the life of me anatomy at all for some reason while I was working on the sketch. Thank god I've got the next two already sketched out, more or less already.

Stomach's still doing backflips, but it's at a more manageable level again, so, back to the grind.

so... my stomach is rebelling again on epic levels.
I'm probably going to be quiet online for the next couple of days again, but I'm going to be still working on art stuff. Narco could tell you how.... against social interaction I am at the moment.

I gotta say, liquid diets aren't a favorite of mine, but I do have a collection of different broth based recipies that keep it 'fresh' I guess.


I really need to get set up with a doctor in the area sooner rather than later. My usual meds are slowly running out, and I need to get my scripts filled and blah blah blah. Same stuff as always, technically. Moving just sort of let this need sneak up on me. I really should have taken care of all this before the move, but what can you do?


Anyway, I'm going to go make a bit of soup and try to keep some stuff in my stomach for a bit, and maybe get a commission or two done.







I haven't found my 'designated arting spot' yet, though, so it's still a bit odd trying to find the right 'zone' again.

Artist problems.

This is sort of another one of those things I'm not sure how I feel about most days, but it's come up a few times that a couple people want me to do more adoptables.

As a standard thing, I always start my auctions at $1, but it's less the thought of the auction and more the concept of 'Should I make adoptables a more common thing'? Usually when I do them, it's based off of a moment of inspiration that I know I most likely won't use beyond that point, either because my standard characters are very vanilla in colors and markings, and because I don't usually draw outside of felines as my family of choice for personal characters... But...


I do like designing characters, so, I wonder if doing some more involved adoptable designs, possibly more similar to how the two halloween themed characters were set up, individually drawn instead of a sheet of copy-pasted lineart?

Also, bleh. I'm feeling pretty under the weather at the moment. I started work on art but staring at the computer screen for more than about 20 minutes is making me feel nauseous right now, so I'm just going to go lay back down again.

Hey guys. So I'm not entirely sure what time today my internet is officially going to go kaput, but I will be packing up my router and junk soonish, so, I'm officially going dark for the forseen future.

One last thing, I'm sad I didn't have enough time to get the third page of the comic up. I've got it sketched and inked, but I haven't been able to get the coloring finished for it, but I will try to have 2-3 pages ready to go when I get back as well, however, I'll be putting commissions first, right after unpacking/job interviews/food.... Maybe not food.... Ok, food still gets to be there.

Yep. As I've realized, the two YCH pieces I have haven't gotten quite to what I'd been hoping so far, which in itself is fine, haha, however, I am still a bit in the hole for this move. So, I'll be offering discounted 'wing it' style commissions for the week or so I'll be without internet.

You'll give me your reference(s) and a basic description of what you'd be wanting, and over the week that I'm out of internet, I'll be working on these to be posted as sort of an artgasm once we have internet hooked up again.

The catch with these is that there will be no sketch-checks, and what I make is what you get. There won't be any changes made after they're posted.



I WILL NOT be taking any commissions with Backgrounds, for this, HOWEVER, I will be offering shaded colored pieces, as well as my usual flat-colored pieces and sketches, and if after they're uploaded, you'd like to have me upgrade them to flats or full colored pieces, this can be arranged for proper compensation.

Haha, mostly because of the stupid amount of packing i've been doing inbetween working on artwork. It sort of just hit me how much I actually need to get packed away, so, I'm halfway shooting for about a room every two days since we'll officially be starting the move in a little over a week.


Er, I guess that's something I should explain a bit more for people then as well, haha.


My lease is up at about the middle of this month, however as some know already, I'm going to be moving into a new apartment with a friend in about a week, since their roommates need to relocate for a job about an hour away. This should be a mutually beneficial move for the both of us, so we're both looking forward to it, but the actual moving portion of the move is taking up quite a bit more time than I'd been expecting. I hadn't realized I've collected so many bobbles over my time at this place, haha, so packing everything safely is... a thing.



The official 'no internet/moving time' is going to probably be about a week long starting around may 6th so, I may not have internet durring that time while we get the internet set up at the new place and the internet here's bill period will be up.


At the moment, making sure everything is packed is a bit of a priority as well, so for now, art will be my reward at the end of the day for a box well packed. I know there's a joke in there somewhere, haha.






I'm still working on the blocking for page 2 of the prologue, but the set up is almost done, so I should have that out possibly tomorrow, as well as the sketches for the two YCH pieces, which will, as always, start at $1, though this time, each space (for the one with Ochen) will be a separate bidding. Money from these will need to be in by the 5th, as I will be using it as money to make sure I can cover my half of the moving costs. Bidding will probably close on the 3rd at... some time o'clock. I'm not certian, but more information on those will be posted with the pieces.

And now, back to boxing things.

But I know there are mixed reviews on Your Character Here pieces with exhisting characters.....

I've got them both sketched up at the moment *very scribbly, done in a similar style as the first one I did where it will essentially be redrawn to accomodate various characters size/species differences as needed* but if there's not much of a positive interest in something like this, then I'll just do them up with more of my own characters in time.


The piece with Ochen would have 2 places, either gender, any species, The one with Stray would have only one, either gender, any species, but would also have a strong non-consensual overtone to the piece.
