It is a year that happened.
It was not my worst year....

...well, I lived through it and I plan to stay alive a bit longer, so I suppose in THAT regard it could have been worse.
...but yeah, this year can swear a big fat swear all over the swearing ground while swearing from swear to swear while getting sweared at by a dozen swears brimming with swear and swear.
Swear you, 2017. You swearing piece of swear.

So I Survived Hurricane Maria, But...
Posted 8 years agoI know I took a while to update here,sorry about that.
So good news, I'm alive and well.
Bad news... um, for those that don't know, I live in Puerto Rico. Before we made it through Irma just fine. María we probably would have as well were it not for the fact Irma was only a week apart and we were still recovering from that before Maria hit.
The rest you probably know by now: No power nearly anywhere on the island, extremely few reliable means to communicate with each other (let alone the world outside), lack of water runs rampant while some towns are so closed off that help can't get in and victims can't get out.
And it's only been, what, two weeks as if this writing?
So... yeah, my days of digital art are pretty much over until we recover, assuming we ever will. But I'm luckier than most, at least: I have water, friends and family have been an inmense help and I can still go online whenever I have a charge on my phone (which is not always, obviously, but I make due).

Closing emergency commissions early; Maria Updates
Posted 8 years agoSo last night internet went down and does not look to be coming back before Hurricane Maria arrives. I still have power, but this plus more pressing RL issues have forced me to close emergency commissions sooner than expected. Thank you again to those that participated!

And yes, the Irma stuff was, what, two weeks ago? I am as dumbfounded as you are, as I definitely have not witnessed this in my lifetime at least.
Needless to say, because she caught us with our proverbial pants still getting proverbially put back on, I have no clue what to expect. Even if Maria is nowhere near as nasty as Irma was, it´s still (as of this writing) a potentially damaging storm that will undoubtedly leave me without power again for heck knows how long.
And because of that, and because we know she arrives in Puerto Rico proper around Wednesday 2pm (AST), I am begrudgingly opening up for small but quick commissions in the hopes to have money in my Paypal to at least deal with my more valuable subscriptions and have one less thing to stress over.

Post-Irma Update: Still Alive, If A Bit Powerless At Times

Shortest explanation, Puerto Rico got INSANELY LUCKY in surviving the worst of Irma´s wrath, considerably so than many of our other Caribbean siblings and, to an extent, Florida. Over half the island is with either without power or water or both (me in particular being in Team No Power For you) but aside from many a collapsed tree and power line, very little in terms of deaths caused by the storm itself, at least as far as I am informed.
Now we just got power last Sunday and I have been chilling a bit before officially proclaiming I am good for commissions again, but today we started getting power outs again. Hours rather than days, of course, but that DOES concern me for many an obvious reason. All this and without including the fact that lately me and mom have been doing what we can to help out friends and family who are still sans power/water, be it giving them ice or food or even borrow a battery operated fan.
So does this mean no commissions? Actually it means I need to get back to doing commissions more than ever, even if there may be delays due to aforementioned power hiccups. Resources are limited and while we´re not so far off as to set up a GoFundMe or anything so drastic...well, I got meds to pay for and stuff, the usual "life goes on" stuff.
So there you go, feel free to email me if you want a thing or not. I have my usual donation like things if you feel charitable (As soon as I know WTF to offer in a Patreon, that might be a possible option as well in the future), but there are many other hurricane victims out there that need help more than me.

Teeny Weeny Irma-Shaped Hiatus
Posted 8 years agoFor the rest of this week (Or at least from...Wednesday onward?), expect me to not be as active artwise in my usual places due to, you know, waiting patiently to potentially be hit by Hurricane Irma and all, no big deal. Might stay in contact via Twitter but even that will be limited due to the very real potential for power outs in my side of Puerto Rico.
Not sure how bad it will be (it may not be that bad at all, who knows!) but, I am sure things will be fine.
You guys stay safe out there, okay? I know a bunch of you already have plenty to worry about already and believe me, I am no fan of making people worry about me for anything, but I figured I should at least let you know what is going on soon.
Will be back with the arts as soon as I am able to. Seeya, folks~!

Incoming Trip And Other Stuff!

So come July 5th (this Wednesday as of this writing) I will be visiting family in Orlando for about two weeks. Will get back to you in terms of when or even if I return to Puerto Rico, as I will be job hunting over there if humanly possible.
While I will be taking my computer with me to keep in touch and whatnot, I will probably going to put standard commissions on indefinite hold while I am gone. Smaller works, such as icons and (maybe) Friday discount stream commissions (assuming I stream) may be feasible and even encouraged, as I will be needing extra cash on hand to not be too much of a financial burden to family while I am there. On a similar note, I have adoptables for sale as well, which would be a great way to help as well: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23897617/
Regular contact via my official Discord (email or note me for invite to public server*) and Twitter (@ntbkompy) will still happen. While my game setup won´t be as great as usual and might affect my performance, I will also be available for the occasional casual Overwatch match (Battlenet is Kompy#1976). Voice chat in general I am uncertain of at this moment in time.
So yeah. See you guys around and wish me luck, yo.

Apologies for stopping stream early...
Posted 8 years agoI was out today for a long time, having an overall fine day save for some...serious emotional blows that I'll not go into right now.
Point is, I was way, way more physically tired than I thought and couldn't continue. I knew streaming while so tired wasn't a good idea, but I figured I could at least do catchup on work from last week and maybe hope to entertain with the drawing enough to amuse folks and maybe get a donation or two to make up for monthly medication that bit me hard in the wallet this week. But no luck. So it's a loss, sadly.
I'm not 100% sure I can do a catchup stream this Saturday but if I can I'll let folks know. Wednesday I'll try to work on owed art regardless if I stream or not. Last resort, next Friday stream I'll try to make up.
And yes I have...thoughts regarding some recent news that happened in the fandom recently, but this isn't the journal to share those thoughts in. Until then, I'll at least share this from my Twitter:

So mom has shingles and, well...
Posted 9 years agoOk, I posted about this a couple days ago, even said I'd stream on Saturday, yet never did, for which I apologize to you guys.
TL:DR version of that link above is that last Friday mom went to the hospital and was diagnosed with shingles (or "culebrilla" as we know it locally). She was gonna turn 60 this August which is when she would have given herself the booster shot for that had stressful situations in RL and other factors not sped up her getting it. I had chickenpox in the past so I SHOULD be mostly okay, but I'm aware I am at risk helping her, but you'll forgive me if I don't care about that for the time being.
So ok, what does all this mean? It means that I have pretty much mentally set myself to be mom's caretaker for as long as she needs it, which means commissions will be slow (still happening if I can do it!) but streams will be either rarer than usual to downright not happening, depending on how things go these next couple weeks. Believe me when I say I hate that I'm back in this kind of needy, helpless situation again, but such is life as they say?
No work from either me or mom means money will be tight for a bit, so I'm be linking to these again:

The fact she was diagnosed with shingles also has me mentally tired. As well as, you know, worried and all that.

Still Alive In 2017/Taking Small Hiatus Until The 7th
Posted 9 years agoSo hey, 2017! We made it! Hope the Rooster will be kinder to us than the Monkey was, amirite? :V
So, here in Puerto Rico the holidays continue up until January 6th* (Dia de Reyes/Epiphany Day) and because of possible RL family needs (and a, to be quite honest, need for a longer break from doing commission work), I'll not be doing commission work during this time. Friday falls on the 6th which means a good chance I'll not do a stream then, though it's not a certain thing just yet, just a very likely one.
MIGHT do personal art in the meantime, been meaning to do more (and still need to find the means of freeing myself up to those more this year), so this is a good thing all around, believe me.
Anyway, hope you guys have a good one! And remember you can always watch me post dumb stuff on my Twitter if you haven't done so yet :V

THAT'S RIGHT, THE GRAND RETURN OF KOMPY SPAMMING YOUR 3DS INBOXES WITH TERRIBLE DOODLES HAS RETURNED! This was a hobby of sorts of mine in the days of Swapnote that I hope to revive again in between doing actual art and playing dumb games :V

THAT'S RIGHT, THE GRAND RETURN OF KOMPY SPAMMING YOUR 3DS INBOXES WITH TERRIBLE DOODLES HAS RETURNED! This was a hobby of sorts of mine in the days of Swapnote that I hope to revive again in between doing actual art and playing dumb games :V
So if you want in on this, gimme your 3DS friend codes and I'll reply to your comment with mine. Due to space reasons I may have to be choosy on who I actually add, but can't hurt to try right? Keep in mind I might be getting a new (New!) 3DS later this month which means I might change my friend code later, but if you throw in and I reply to you, I'll make sure to keep you updated on the new code.

Tiny update-update
Posted 9 years agoNo stream tonight, but will stream on Monday, Halloween. Will be giving small discounts for themed bust commissions then, more on that later.

Note this is for new commissions (excluding an upcoming surprise Halloween stream on Monday!) and current standard commissions. I will still be doing OCtober art, just one a bit of a breather to do some Halloween art as well :V
Next month I'm thinking of offering some kind of Pokemon-themed discount on icon commissions in honor of Sun/Moon's release. Look forward to that, yo~!
