Legend of Corval, Signal Lights, and Graduation
Posted 3 years agoHello again!
Once more I am posting to explain the long absence from my creative work. This may sound unrelated, but last week was a big lifechanging event for me. As of last Friday, I am officially a college graduate! The work associated with my courses has been the biggest obstacle in completing more of Corval as well as Signal Lights. Now that I no longer have that on my plate I'll beable to focus on writing again. That said, I have been poking at it while school was ongoing although slowly. Chapter 5 is complete but half unedited, and chapter 6 is currently in progress. Once these two chapters are done I will be reposting the newly completed Book I, Prologue here. The new version will contain edits to the earlier chapters, there are added scenes and some scenes even go down completely differently from the original so there is something for both new and continuing readers even early on.
Thank you for your patients while I finished everything.
With love,
Korkem

The Legend of Corval, my ongoing project
Posted 4 years agoHey all,
Just incase you where interested in what I had going on with The Legend of Corval I wanted to let you know that, no the story is not over yet. I know it left off in a spot where it would be reasonable to assume that the story had concluded and the game picks up where Corval left off. This is not the case. I know it has been over a months since I posted Book III, but school has slowed down my creative process. Book IV, Welcome to the Slaughterhouse, is currently being finished and it's the longest chapter to date. The increased length along with finals week approaching I have not been enable to dedicate the time to complete it yet.
Book IV should be released some time after MFF (which I will be at).
Thank you for your patients

FA is active again
Posted 5 years agoSo here is what happened. After the sale of FA to IMVU five years ago I made it my policy not to post any new art to FA. Without posting art and keeping up with the artists I like on twitter FA became increasingly irrelevant to my life. Eventually, my computer suffered a catastrophic crash and I forgot the password that would allow me to log back in. For about the next year I put fixing this problem off indefinitely seeing no need to fix something I had very little use for.
So now the question is what changed my mined. Two factors are at play, the FA redesign and the COVID-19 pandemic. Lets begin first with the redesign. I've been hearing about this since I lived in the DC area and, at the time, viewed it as largely a negative. I had concerns with the man leading the project and his behavior around women. Then, when he was removed any kind of much needed update became largely irrelevant, damage done. When IMVU bought FA I read that IMVU claimed ownership of all art posted to the platform, which from my understanding would have given IMVU rights to sell my Bull Korkem or any of his earlier iterations out from under me. At the time I figured IMVU would pillage our fandom and invest almost nothing back in to it. This never came to be and the recent update at least shows some level of concern for the community. I will not post any new art until I read over the user agreement and my fears about ownership of my character can be playacted.
Second motivation in my return is COVID-19. As of writing I have been stuck inside my home for 29 days and to be frank the loneliness is getting to me. I have had a lot time to reflect on my past and the platforms I used to use to connect with people. In my memories no community has made me happier than the Furry Fandom and in a way I might have cut off my own nose to spite my face by turning away from FA as a community. I want to reconnect with the people I had pushed away during, quite frankly, what I consider to be a dark chapter of my life. To them, I'm sorry for my silence. Hopefully we can reconnect, or if you are just now finding my page because of something random I posted to twitter or some other social platform I hope we can get to know each other :)

Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and fire
Posted 10 years agoSo i want to put together a Game of Thrones based commission. it will be open to eight people (not including myself and Dosner, so 10 total). I do not currently have an artist in mined to do this and am open to any suggestions.
if you wish to participate please let me know.

IMVU my worryies and what to expect.
Posted 10 years agoHi all,
it has been many months since i posted a journal, and today I'm going to talk a bit about the elephant in the room known as IMVU. you see at first i was rather dismissive of the isue, but then i read the Q&A with IMVU's CEO Brett Durrett... and that is when i started to really worry. it wasn't that he hosted a Q&A, actually i wish this had been done a while ago, but rather his vague answers to the all important question "what does IMVU get out of the acquisition?" . Brett Durrett stated "We think that by supporting FA they can build a better experience and bigger community and make something more valuable for IMVU, FA and the furry community in general." this is a great goal but says nothing as to how IMVU plans to make money off FA. In fact, i would have been more comfortable if they had said that they plan to sell advertisement space or something along those lines. i am increasingly weary that IMVU my try to acquire the rights to my charters without my permission, they have not stated that they would not do this.
so what of me then? well for the time being i am not leaving FA, not yet. however i recommend people follow me here...
https://www.weasyl.com/~korkem
I am backing everything up to Weasyl and until IMVU states that they will not claim my commissioned work as their own intellectual property i will post no new work to FA.

leave in summer, yet you're in my fluffoughts
Posted 11 years agoone of the rare instances were the English dub is better then the original, but that's mostly because i don't care for Hatsune Miko. this guy made a lackluster vocaliod song in to a fun electro swing song. also i find myself dancing like this now.

Back in the USA
Posted 11 years agoHey all, im home at last. well technically i have been home for the last 2 days but i held off on posting this till i could get setled again. i figured i would skim the top 5 highlights of what happened while i was away.
5. The flight to Japan, this would not have made my list if we had not made one memorable stop on the way over, and that would have been our stop on Wake Island. Wake Island was the site of a fierce battle during WWII and its remote location makes it a place not many people ever get a chance to go to. to say the least the island is stunningly beautiful and is covered with relics from its past during the war. i will remember that forever.
4. Super Table Flip, or as i call it shut up and take my yen!, this was a game i encounter in an arcade in Sasebo and to say the least, after being locked in a room for 3 months with some of the worst people i have ever met this game was the ultimate stress relief. the object of the is you are put in a situation were a bunch of people are acting like complete jerks. then when the moment is right you flip the table as hard as you can and cause as much collateral damage as possible. the game is called Cho Chabudai Gaeshi! in Japaneses, look it up.
3. the night of the storm, this was probably one of the best excrescences i had while out to sea. one night right after i went back to day shift we steamed in to a storm and encountered 19-22 foot sea states. our ship was large but it still threw us around a lot. but while i was curled up in my rack the tossing only managed to rock me to sleep. to this day it is some of the best sleep i have ever had in my life.
2. Dolphins, one morning as i was coming off nightshift i decided to cut threw the hanger bay on my way back to my rack. as i was walking i noticed about 30 or so marine crowded around the open hanger bay door which gace a view of the ocean outside. i desided that since i had nothing better to do i would go check and see what the crowd was all about. as i pushed my way to the front of the crowd i saw several dolphins playing in the water not more then 40 feet from the ship. there were hundreds of them, all swiming and playing near the ship, i probably watched them for a good 30 minuets before i Finlay decided to go to bed.
1. the most beautiful sunrise. this was another morning after breakfast. i decided to stop by the smoke pit even throw i dont smoke just so i could see the sun for a few moments before i went back to work. so as i steped out on to the exposed deck i looked out east and my eyes were filled with more colors then i thought were possible in a sunrise. there was a slight haze in the air that only made the colors more rich, and the sea was as still as glass which reflected the sunrise in its stillness. if i had not known better it was almost as if we were flying threw the sunrise itself, words cannot do it justice.

Still alive
Posted 11 years agoHey all, just wanted you to know I am alive and well. This deployment is almost done.
Hello all, I'm alive and well.
Posted 11 years agoYes it has been an intresting week and I am pleased to say sea life is not so bad. Currently I am in port in Oakinawa which is a beautiful place, just wish I had more time here. Other then that I'm just living life best I can and enjoying what little free time I have. I'm still looking forward to coming home, which I hope will be sooner rather than latter.
A note about my previous jernal. The point of that was to illistrated why I have difficulty talking to some people do to certain social phobias. I take it as less of a binding problem and more as something I need to address.
Any way work calls, chat with you all soon.

Rank structure and furry
Posted 11 years agoOr how I know my place.
A lot of people often wonder why I seem so nervous talking to people in the fandom, well my brain works on a very hierarchical structure that organizes everyone in to perceived ranks. They are as follows from highest to lowest.
Fandom Royalty: the highest rank consisting of names like uncle kage and 2 gryphon. These people run entire cons and have legions of fans their name alien inspires awe. My reaction, keep quiet say little answer questions concisely and consider yourself lucky they even said anything to you at all.
Nobility: are you an artist of renowned and talent? Well then this is were you belong in my head. These people have skills far beyond that of the average convention goer. My reaction: I will not interact or speak to tease people unless by rare occasion I have business with them. Admire them from a distance, there time is to presius to be wasted by me. However if this person is a famous fur suiter then I have no business talking to them at all.
Tradesmen: up and coming artists and fur suitors go here. I keep conversations business oriented but may attempt chit chat. Just keep in mined they are high and I am low.
Populace: the general population of the fandom, not stars but not no one, these people are harder to talk to then tradesmen because i can't fall back on business as a life line. Probably won't try to talk to you on the grounds of not knowing what to say.
Me: the low man, no talent and nothing to contribute to the fandom.

Greetings from japan
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone!
We'll I'm all settled on boarded the USS Bonhome Richard here in lovely Sasebo Japan. Work has been fairly easy so far but I have bearly dug in yet. Right now I am writing this from my iPad in my rack which is so small I bearly can hold it up.
I've started learning Japanese so I can better communicate with the locals. Since there is not much to do I've been studying my ass off. Also need to go back to the gym at some point before I get flabby. Hope everyone is well.

The "H Bomb" of drama and my future on FA
Posted 12 years agoSo, ive seen this blow up all over the place and the drama shock wave has even reached my secluded corner of FA. feeling the rumbles i stuck my head over the wall and have assessed the situation and speaking frankly, it looks bad and could possibly be FA's undoing.
that being said, i have no connection nor feelings in any way for the accused and wildly consider myself several steps removed from Ground Zero. I have no plans to jump the FA ship soon, but the way this is playing out it does not help to be ready. i will be creating a weaselly account, but i do not plan to jump ship.
if i said the situation doesn't leave me with an uneasy feeling i would be lying. these allegations are very very serious and the evidence presented to suggest that there has been a cover up in some form twists my gut. but these are allegations and until i see hard evidence that this has indeed taken place, i will not touch this with a nine foot pole.
i am going back behind my wall now leaving you with the greatest french words ever to be spoken "Now go away or i shall taunt you a second time!"

Well met, well met, said an old true love
Well met, well met, said he
I just returned from the salt, salt sea
And its all for the love of thee
Come in, come in, my own true love
And have a seat by me
Its been three-fourths of a long, long year
Since together we have been
I cant come in and i cant sit down
For ive only a moments time
They say youre married to a house carpenter
And your heart will never be mine
I couldve married the kings daughter fair
And she wouldve married me
But i have forsaken, her crowns of gold
And it's all for the love of thee
Now will you forsake your house carpenter
And come along with me
Ill take you where, the grass grows green
On the banks of the deep blue sea
Then she picked up her darling little babe
And kisses she gave it three
Saying stay right here you darling little babe
And keep your pop company
They had not been on the ship two weeks
Im sure it was not three
Til this true love began to weep and to mourn
And she wept most bitterly
Saying are you weeping for my silver and my gold?
Saying are you weeeping for my store?
Or are you weeping, for your house carpenter
Whose face youll never see no more?
A curse, a curse to the sailor, she cried
A curse, a curse, she swore
You robbed me of the darling little babe
That i shall never see no more
They had not been on the ship three weeks
Im sure it was not four
When there came a leak, in the bottom of the ship
And sank them for to rise no more
this is based of of an old Scottish Balad known as the Damen Lover. such a beautiful song and so sad. its enchanting, but i cant help but tear up at it.
Well met, well met, said an old true love
Well met, well met, said he
I just returned from the salt, salt sea
And its all for the love of thee
Come in, come in, my own true love
And have a seat by me
Its been three-fourths of a long, long year
Since together we have been
I cant come in and i cant sit down
For ive only a moments time
They say youre married to a house carpenter
And your heart will never be mine
I couldve married the kings daughter fair
And she wouldve married me
But i have forsaken, her crowns of gold
And it's all for the love of thee
Now will you forsake your house carpenter
And come along with me
Ill take you where, the grass grows green
On the banks of the deep blue sea
Then she picked up her darling little babe
And kisses she gave it three
Saying stay right here you darling little babe
And keep your pop company
They had not been on the ship two weeks
Im sure it was not three
Til this true love began to weep and to mourn
And she wept most bitterly
Saying are you weeping for my silver and my gold?
Saying are you weeeping for my store?
Or are you weeping, for your house carpenter
Whose face youll never see no more?
A curse, a curse to the sailor, she cried
A curse, a curse, she swore
You robbed me of the darling little babe
That i shall never see no more
They had not been on the ship three weeks

Moveing II
Posted 12 years agoSo, yes i disappeared kinda suddenly, but i promise its not without good reasoning.
my life has been kind of up in the air since i left Virginia (i still miss it btw), while i have found a housemate and together we found a more permanent living arrangement it still has not saved me for living on the couch for the past month. all this however will soon change, i am once more up at my childhood home in Petaluma on a mission to retrieve my household goods from storage so i can move in to my new apartment. "bed at last! bed at last, thank god almighty, a bed at last!" long story shot, this northern excursion was executed on less then one weeks notice and so many of you may have been left wondering were i had disappeared to. fear not! for i am just finally warping up my move, i plan to return to San Diego on the 15th of November.
take care all and sorry for the sudden disappearance.
