A Life Update From Korrok

It's been a long time since I've updated. The longer I've left it, the more hesitant I've been because I feel a bit guilty I've gone quiet on the furry side. But here is a short update on what's going on with me, and my art!
During the past while, making furry art has definitely gone on the backburner for me. I've been working hard in my job as a tattoo artist, and I must say, this tends to consume ALL my creativity. I do tattoos all day, I prepare the next day's tattoos after dinner, I sleep...then on my days off I'm thinking of resting rather than making more art. But of course, all this has changed in the past few weeks. Covid-19 has hit us and in the UK, this meant all tattooing stopped in mid-March, and it's not scheduled to resume until July at the earliest. For me, I won't be returning until a couple of months later than that for another reason:
I'm actually pregnant and we will be having a daughter in June, Lana Phuong Huynh. :)
This is of course a big life change for me and my husband both. But we are looking forward to taking the next step in our lives.
In the meantime though, this pause in my career has left me with a lot of time on my hands! And in that time I've been getting more creative again. I've made a bunch of Redbubble designs, done a furry commission or two, some pet portraits, and I am very open to doing more. So now is a great time to get in touch if you are looking for some new artwork!
So in conclusion, I'm still around - and still productive.

NordicFuzzCon + General Update!

First of all, I'll be attending NordicFuzzCon again this year. I will be in the dealer's den and have 12 pieces in the art show.
Sketches and badges will be available, as well as prints and magnets! Come by and check it out, or just say hi. :)
I figured I'd make a real life update too, for anyone who is curious about why my activity and uploads have been really low.
The short version is that work ate up a lot of time last year. It was exceptionally hard as I was in a really bad workplace and that had big emotional effects on me - the last thing I wanted to do was to draw or make art. Then in late summer that year, I was involved in a fairly minor car accident (I was hit from behind, I was standing still and they were travelling at 40mph). Aside from the injury it caused, this ended up costing me huge amounts of money: my car was wrecked, I had to buy a new one as well as pay massive amounts in taxis to work for the 2 weeks before I could get it, the new car turned out to have problems that cost me £1000, and the insurance, despite ruling I wasn't at fault, gave me back precisely nothing. (Don't get insurance with AXA or one of their subsidiaries, folks). I was out of work for several months, and my health took a big downturn, mentally and physically.
However, this all excludes the great news of last year. I met a wonderful guy and we fell in love. It was one of those "meant to be" things. We had a wonderful summer, a roadtrip across California, I moved in with him in September that year. My fickle, antisocial Siamese cats actually really like him. And when he asked me to marry him, I said yes! Our wedding is in August this year. And his first furry con will be NFC, of course. ;)
I am now working - by which I mean tattooing - from a shop in Borehamwood, north London, and despite physical health issues being in a bad spot everything is trucking along nicely.
So that's my life and updates. I hope you enjoy the new pictures I've uploaded - I still have a few more bits and pieces for you too!

IMPORTANT: Commissioners Please Read!

Due to really unexpected and harsh personal circumstances, my commissions have been greatly delayed. This is deeply troubling for me as I hate to keep people waiting, and I hate having a backlog of work that is not completed.
Right now I'm not sure when work will be finished. All I can say is that "yes, if you have paid me for artwork, you will receive it."
For this reason, I'd like to invite anyone with an outstanding commission with me to contact me for a refund if they would like to wait no further. If you would like to change your commission - also contact me. If you are happy to continue to wait, you can feel free to do so. Or check in, if you prefer. I will do my best to get back to you.

The list IS upto date and will be kept upto date. No one has been forgotten.
Now the explanation of my current situation, as quick as I can make it:
As mentioned before, in September 2015 my then-boyfriend informed me that he wanted to end our relationship, and that I should move away, after a lot of rows and a lot of mistrustful circumstances. This meant I had to leave my life of almost 6 years in the Netherlands, and move back to my home country of Scotland - with my parents. I had to sell my car, pack up 6 years of my life, and my 2 cats, to live in a small room back home with my dad, whom I love dearly, but also my abusive, ex-alcoholic mother (who has Werners-Korsakoff Syndrome - an added difficulty). It's been great to be with my dad for a while, but my mother is an endless challenge for us both, and has been abusive and unpleasant to me since I've been back here in early October. During this time my PC has failed, in that it overheats under any kind of load, causing it to shut down. This includes under the load of complex digital artwork - like all your commissions. Moving country was expensive, and I have not been able to afford to replace the computer. I've also found my health issues seem to be troubling me, I was found to have many large gallstones and am waiting on removal of my gallbladder, and a recent blood panel revealed liver damage from an unknown source, something that will now be being looked into.
During this time, I'd reconciliated with my former boyfriend, who some of you know as Ravell. We're back together, which has been a positive move, and I am now looking at moving back in with him at the end of this week (9th January). So, another move across countries - only this time from Scotland to England. Just 7 hours drive. :P After this, I am looking at purchasing a new PC (with his help) to work on commissions, getting a part-time job at a tattoo studio, purchasing myself another cheap car in which to get to work, and from there, getting commissions worked on. If any of my English friends and contacts are interested in tattoo work, definitely a time to get in touch.
So that's that. A lot more upheaval in my life than I could ever have expected. Hopefully though, a lot more settled before long - it's on the horizon!

Moved Back to the UK, Reg'd for CFz, InkedFur
Posted 10 years agoJust an update that I'm now back home in the UK, settling in at my parents' house (not ideal, but I am very glad to have it as a stop gap till I can sort my own place), my cats are settling in well, and internet is set up. I'll be resuming commission work asap, for the past few days since I got back it's been all about unpacking. And resting, since the work of packing/unpacking has left my health condition in a bit of a flare up. >_>
The unfortunate news at the moment is that colour traditional media commissions are going to be out of the question while I'm living here - I simply do not have any space to do the work. My parents' house is small, all my stuff is confined to my bedroom and art supplies are totally packed away. I have a graphite commission on my list and this should thankfully still be possible.
In other news, I'm registered up for Confuzzled next year, even if it hurt the hell out of my finances - needed that Dealer's table. :P So I will definitely be along there. Just Fur The Weekend in Bristol may also be an option, but we'll see about that later. ;)

Important Info For All Commissioners - MOVING COUNTRY

I wanted to make a very important announcement - in the first week of October, I am moving back home to Scotland (currently residing in the Netherlands).
This is unexpected (relationship breakdown) and obviously a huge, difficult thing in my life. Commissions will certainly be delayed, and communication could also be delayed. I definitely have you all very much in mind though.
On a more personal note, I'm really panicking about the costs of this move. Looking to be over £1000. And stressing about how my cats will accept it. :/ This was my home here in NL, my boyfriend and I had a house, and now I need to move in with my parents since I am "homeless". Finances are going to be a massive struggle. I have to sell my car and won't be able to afford one back home. I'm pretty miserable. :(
I'll keep you all updated and keep working as it's possible.

Sorry to do this but I'm in a real cash cramp right now - I have my car insurance to pay in 2 weeks, and I'm coming up short on all other bills thanks to this. :/ It increased by 350 euro this year after my dad crashed my car. -_- On top of this I have car servicing which I have STILL been unable to do and would love to get done...driving around in summer with non-functioning AC is a bit of a bummer (80 euro to fix). Collab Commission Auction - Help With Vet Bills!

banrai! ALL funds raised by this auction will go towards helping Banrai's sick cat, Domino, who has a currently undiagnosed illness and is in a poor condition at the vet hospital.

Away for the Weekend / Happy Thanksgiving

Just to let you know I will be gone over the weekend since I'm going back home to Scotland to visit my dad (and our 20 year old cat, can't forget her). Haven't been home since January so looking forward to it. :)
I'll be back on Tuesday so any notes or emails will be answered then.
And to my American watchers, have a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy all your delicious foods. I am jealous. :P
