Hyena Drawing Tips?
Posted 12 years agoSo I've recently been dabbling with drawing hyenas and I can't seem to get it right. Either it looks like a mouse, a leopard, or a dog... There is no happy medium TwT
Anybody have any tips on how to even things out and make a horrible hybrid of disastrous proportions into a wonderful hyena? Feral or Anthro is fine ^^

Whoa....Where am I?
Posted 12 years agoSo somewhere along the way I got lost for a bit there - I can't promise I'll be posting a lot again but at least I am still around. I think *pokes self* Yup still kickin' haha
Just wanted to stop in and let you know I miss you all;
Kodiack (my laptop) is still down due to spontaneous combustion of its power cord (no joke);
UPS and USPS have basically lost my new cord gifted by Genkuro [I'm really not happy about that];
and I am currently working as a KJ [Karaoke DJ] at a local bar -- which is pretty interesting ^^
Travel Plans:
I see no cons or meetups in the near future but I will be traveling back North in late September for Class of '08 5 year reunion. I've been back once since I moved (for a wedding) but otherwise
I'm still in the South. Any Southern furs out there? Because I still know next to no one xD

Anyway, I am so glad to be back and able to update now and again.
News!
* Unfortunately I can only post camera phone shots of my work but they will be replaced later on when I get a scanner working with this computer.
* Caught up with past art, and the next image to be uploaded will be one that is most special and dear ^^ <3
* Prior to Christmas, I moved to Mississippi!
* Still looking for work but am almost ready to start doing steady commissions if anyone is interested ^^
Also as a final update for this journal, once I am able to have a reliable internet connection I will be starting back up my featured Watchers posts - why? Because there are still so many watchers who deserve to be seen!! ^^

So! What I have been wanting to do for a while as thanks for their support is...Dun DUN DUN!!
To Feature Watchers & Art Here on My Page!
What I plan on doing is going down my list of watchers and selecting 2-3 pieces by each artist to feature along with a link to their galleries. There is no specific order and I think it would be amazing if fellow watchers check out each others' work! I'll leave them up for a couple of days at a time, so check out future journals/posts ^w^
I'm also thinking about holding small raffles/contests/random draws for those watching, with small free prize art like chibi's, icons, etc. Please note that due to lack of money and pressure of financial issues I cannot offer up large projects, points, or commission anyone as prizes but I hope you have fun regardless

Posted 13 years agoAmazingly scary but awesome couple of days ahead - First foam latex applications ever for this makeup artist and I'm learning it on the job o/////o Wish me luck furs, I'll be working makeup from 1-7pm (then removing prosthetic appliances at 11) but I'll be on site from 12pm-12am it looks. Thur-Sat. this week and next then Thur-Sun last weekend of October. I'm soo nervous but I know I can do it, just have to breathe.

I think I am pretty much eating only to amuse myself,
I keep forgetting to remain hydrated...
and I'm either overly happy for no reason or wanting this to all just be done.
I'm sick of all the repetition,
I'm sick of most if not all social networks,
I'm sick of people,
I'm sick of time,
I'm sick of all this emotional idiocy locked in my head,
I'm sick of everything...
I am merely drawing to keep whatever bit of sanity I have left in tact,
To have some connection to the outside world...
Part of me says I did the right thing,
the other part misses with everything left...
I can't even settle my thoughts to write anything here anymore..
If I really had a point anyway..

Something about the morals of Art + Life
Posted 13 years agoOk, so I really am not doing so great at the moment and I can't understand to the core why I really am this upset. I've seen both sides of the story, have heard both reasoning's on such topic -- but yet I feel my heart sink and mood drop as my thoughts fall back to it.
Art is VERY important to me - it's one of the only things that really brings to life the emotions, ideas, and thoughts that spark inside of me. It's my hobby, my air, my inspiration, my entertainment, and speaks volumes when I can't even begin to say a single word directly.
I know for a fact the feeling of envy browsing through all the wonderful submissions on any art site and oh do I drool over some of the brilliant drawing styles. I've got decent work I'll admit, but if I had even HALF the talent of some of the artists in the community I would be thrilled...
Now when I've brought this up to multiple people I've heard various sides:
- SCUM
- Boosting their rep amongst other people in the most cowardly way possible
- Trying to impress someone and too scared to be themselves
- An artist should be flattered to have someone view their art as good enough to rip off.
- Etc.

I have found out recently that I HAVE been lied to by a trusted friend.
I don't know if or how I want to bring it up
because to me, it shows that I didn't trust them.
I don't know really how to go about it, either...because truth is...
I don't think that they know I have suspicions...
Just for future notice, anyone and everyone.
Just don't steal. It makes it easier on EVERYONE.
If it's commission, a gift, a request, a trade, FINE - Just say so!
If it's a character that you really admire and is similar to how you see yourself in your head - That's Great!
Just don't go around telling people that the piece of art is something YOU created. It's wrong, it's stupid, and I do not take to it kindly...
**I would like to note, NO, as far as I know my artwork has not been stolen by anyone. This is truly unrelated to me except for it being that the person is a friend. Any advice, comments, tips, whatever else is much appreciated. Thank you**

Either way!
I figured that after a couple weeks of lurking, faving, watching, and enjoying all the amazing artwork found here on Fur Affinity - I should finally open up with a journal at last.
Welcome to my life, yes My Life.
I may not make money off my art. I may not be known world wide for it, or be anywhere near as popular as a lot of artists out there but no matter what anyone may say about me; Art & Music are two things that without, I would probably not be even remotely existing. Art & Music = Oxygen.

Now that, that is out of the way:
As an artist I sign by various names but most of the time you will find me as A.R. aka Dead-Shdwwolf, Kovi. My drawing style is pretty much easy to pick up on in all my pieces, but I admit is still pretty sloppy.
My skills/passions/artistic abilities inc:
Sketching, digital art, sewing/altering, poetry, short-stories, embroidery, airbrushing, and special makeup effects.
I love animals, nature, & food and am very much a Water Elemental drawn to Fire like a moth. Music wise, I listen to basically anything and everything that moves me and don't discriminate based on genre [though I will admit my taste for rap and country are very low].
Goals & Dreams
Hope to become more involved with the furry community, but really I just want to be happy & stable ^-^ Otherwise I definitely want to own my own small business sometime soon and sell my patches/art/etc at conventions! Money is important these days (i guess) but really I just want to make people smile with my art :D - am I doing ok so far?

Currently I am still a little unsure of my situation and self, but once I get more stable I would love to do Trades and Commissions!
