Posted a year agoYeah, not only am I back on a commissioning streak again, but I'm starting to upload my backlog.
Some of these have been in my saved files for over 10 years and have yet to see the light of day.
Better late than never I suppose!! haha

Where I've been; job and a novel
Posted 3 years agoHeya everyone!
I haven't been quite as active on FA for a while. While I've been online almost every day, I've just been lurking and being a standard watcher. I quit commissioning for a while, mostly because I was trying to pay off the used vehicle I was driving and the air conditioning system I had installed in my home in 2019. I was working a simple job as a door sander then, but my work place burnt down in a fire in early December 2020. After I was discharged from the army, I got my CDL, so I took the opportunity to get a driving job. For the last year, I've been delivering supplies to construction sites all around Kentucky, northern Tennessee, and southern Indiana and Ohio. I've got a large steady income now, so expect some commissions to flow through again!
This leads me to the next major reason. Art has taken a major backseat because I've gotten off my bat butt and went back to writing again. After two years of hard work, I've completed a novel! It's a sc-fi alternate history genre. I've already had a professional editor and proofreader scan through it, and it's polished as nicely as it can be for the time being. I'm currently weathering through the waves upon waves of expected rejections by agents and publishers, but I'm keeping it up and hoping for the best! Absolute worst case scenario, I'll just self-publish, but only if all else fails. I'm both excited and anxious to see how it turns out in the marketplace, but in the mean time, I've started my next project, which is a Cold War era horror.
Looking forward to hopefully sharing in the future!
Hope everyone is doing good and staying safe! :)

Birthday and new decade of life
Posted 4 years agoAnother birthday is here, and I'm thirty now. I don't feel it physically, but mentally I can't believe it. My twenties were full of great experiences and memories: college, six years in the army, worked my way from grunt to manager at a retail store, and so much more. Hopefully this new decade of life is full of more great experiences and memories to make.
29th birthday today
Posted 5 years agoAs the title says, I am 29 years old today. Gonna enjoy this final year of my 20s before the big 30 hits :P
Hope everyone is having a great year so far!

May buy an Xbox One
Posted 6 years agoThe past two years I've been religiously playing PS4 and loving it. However, after my 10 year class reunion, a lot of my old gaming friends are back to playing Halo online. So I'm thinking of getting an Xbox One really soon, along with Halo MCC and maybe the new Modern Warfare when it comes out. If that happens and anyone has either of them games, let me know and I'd love to play sometime.
Discord, Skype, and Telegram
Posted 6 years agoFor a while now, I've not had my Discord, Skype, and Telegram information up, requiring a note to add me. I took the original stuff down due to a series of trolls and just overall strange individuals abusing it.
Enough time has passed, plus I'm trying to get back into the fandom socially, that I am reposting my information back up. Add me if you want to chat sometime! :)

May start commissioning and sketching again
Posted 6 years agoA few weeks ago I mentioned I was classifying myself as a watcher due to the fact I haven't posted anything in God knows how long! I mentioned it was due to money and such, but honestly, considering I haven't bought anything in a long time, I really need to start treating myself again here and there.
The more I thought about it, I love this fandom and have met some amazing people in it! I look forward to seeing what happens in the near future with it.
Hope everyone is doing well :)

Just a watcher now
Posted 6 years agoI was just looking at the last time I uploaded something myself and it's been a bloody long time! Truth be told though, the odds of me commissioning or sketching something myself again are going to be low. It's not because I have no interest in it anymore, quite the contrary. However, my time and money is definitely more stretched and put into other areas.
I have a lot of good sketch ideas, but a lot of my free time is spent writing my stories and working on my first novel. As well, I see loads of great YCHs and artists opened for commissions, but in the end, my funds are needed elsewhere.
As a result, I spend my entire time just browsing through everyone else's work and supporting them through faves and comments and such. I also want to continue making friends and see what relationships bloom through this community. While I do have my gripes about the fandom, I have met some amazing people through it as well and hope to continue meeting great people.
So I'm here every single day, despite the fact my submissions are dead now.

Picking myself up
Posted 7 years agoMy last journal was a bit depressing, and I want to make a positive one, because I believe in positive coming after negative.
I ranted about my former retail job and glad that chapter is over. I've let that experience really get me down and depressed over the last few years. Getting this new job has really helped bring me out of this deep hole that place gave me.
As for the military side of things, things have improved on that end as well. My unit did a 180 change in attitude after a change of command. A lot of the toxic things and people have disappeared since my Louisiana experience at Fort Polk this past August/September. On top of that, I've let this depression of mine effect my career in ways that it shouldn't have.
Picking myself off my feet again and getting back to the way things used to be. Get back to my epic PT scores I had back in 2016 and get back into this site as much as possible. I have missed this community and look forward to seeing what awaits!

Update October 2018
Posted 7 years agoWhile I don't post much here anymore, I am active here almost daily. I do wish I could get back into the sketching and commissioning, but other stuff has taken priority unfortunately.
Had a medical experience back in March of this year that had me temporarily losing half my eye sight. The incident occurred when I qualifying with my M16 with my milttary unit. I somehow qualified, but a simple doctor visit had me end up staying in the hospital for a few days. It was caused by cranium pressure, but they don't know the cause of the pressure. Got a spinal tap and been normal since, though the fact this happened due to an unknown reason is what worries me to this day.
As for jobs, I finally got out of retail back in June. My previous boss got fired and the replacement and I did not get along. Coupled with previously mentioned health issue (which the company refused to give me medical leave for), I left. I now work as a product inspector at a local wood plant and the lack of stress has done wonders for my health, as well as a consistent schedule for once.
On the military front, I am almost at my 5 year mark with one more year to go. My enthusiasm to continue my service past this contract has been destroyed since I've transferred units to get promoted to Sergeant back in February. A leg injury I got in AIT has resurfaced and has killed my running ability. As a result of two medical issues and the toxic environment that is my new unit, I will ride out this final year (if they allow me to finish it that is) and get out. It's been a great experience and I've learned a lot to take into the civilian life; no regrets for enlisting!
On a side note, while my art spree has stopped for now, I have began a massive writing project. Hopefully this leads to some success in the future at some point.
As a whole though, I'm alive and well. Looking for people to talk to if anyone is interested, just note or ask for my skype/telegram. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hide or honesty?
Posted 9 years agoIs it better to be honest about your opinions, beliefs, and lifestyle in exchange of angering others around you, or is it better to hide them and conform with society to avoid conflict? I'm at this cross road now and it sucks!
I have Telegram
Posted 9 years agoSup everyone, I finally got Telegram because everyone had switched over. I'm still active a lot on Skype, but I'll also be on Telegram now if anyone wants to contact me there and chat.

To my new watchers
Posted 9 years agoThe past 24 hours I've received a lot of new watches and tons of faves, mainly from the new watchers. I want to thank you all for the support, and hope you enjoy the page and my future uploads and current content :) Remember to support the artists who drew the art if it was a commissioned piece. I really try to commission newer and/or not well known artists and repost their work, to help them gain exposure.
Anyways, hope you all love bats, because there be lots of them on this page :P

Birthday today, I'm 25 years old.
Posted 9 years agoI've made it to a quarter of a century in age today. People are surprised I'm 25 though, they think I should be younger. Maybe because I'm in shape or look younger? Haha.
Anyways, it's snowing today too, so snowed in today with all this food I have...awesome stuff :P
Hope you all are having a good day!

Paris attack agendas
Posted 10 years agoNothing makes me more angry than people using a tragedy to bolster their own personal agenda, especially within only 24 hours. I've seen Republicans using this to attack gun control and immigration, which is mostly for easy votes (about like Benghazi), with some extremists calling for total war against Islam, which has a Nazi-like theme to it. This shows humanity hasn't improved much as a collective mentality for centuries.
I don't bring religion onto FA much, but a number of anti-theists are making a huge deal over the word "pray" in #prayforparis. You'd think that this would be a moment of uniting against an attempt to divide us, but no, people trying to turn this into a secular vs. religious conflict over a simple little word. I don't care what you believe or don't believe, but this isn't the time to further your religious or anti-religious agenda. Oddly enough, the people who are attacking prayer are doing nothing themselves but just saying "thoughts" instead of "pray"; whats the difference?
I don't let these things get to me much, but seeing people use the deaths of innocent people to further their own political and religious/anti-religious agendas really does piss me off. Your part of the problem, not fighting against it.
As for me, I shall return to work tomorrow and live life as normal...but I love you France! Stay strong and awesome :)

When I get married
Posted 10 years agoYears from now, I'll be married for sure. I'll be on my first marriage when most of my generation is on their second or third, and in the case of this girl I went to school with, on her sixth.
Damn folks, what ever happened to working it out or taking your time before putting the ring on?
Then again, like arguing against foreign policy and Evangelicalism, maybe I'm just missing something they see? :/

Vlad vs myself
Posted 10 years agoThis seems to be a yearly journal I've noticed, but I have to keep making these because drama never fails to amaze me.
While some furries definitely place their fursonas as "themselves" and try to make it as much like them as possible...I'm not one of them. While Vlad is based off me in quite a few ways, he isn't me; he's one of my many characters that I created years ago for story purposes. However, this hasn't stopped people from believing if Vlad does something, then that must mean I'm that in reality.
Most of this comes from some bi-themed pictures of my characters I've posted the past few months. If I get one more person trying to convince me I'm secretly a closeted gay man because I have a few arts of my male characters having some fun...I'm gonna lose what's left of my IQ.
Reality/fantasy divide my fuzzy friends!
Also, I've had no sleep in a day and half, so cranky Matt bat is cranky.

The pro-German veteran
Posted 10 years agoWas at work early today (11 July), setting up my department for a sale that would start up at 2pm. Around 10am, a man in his 80s came in and asked me questions regarding him moving his granddaughter and her items to Louisville, mainly how to handle and cover up her furniture with the recent storms Kentucky has been receiving.
After answering his questions, he made it known he was a US Air Force veteran from many years ago. I mentioned that I was current US Army, and we began to talk about military stuff.
He had an accent that I never pinpointed at first, but he said he was raised in Hungary as a child in the 1930s and 40s. He talked about how he witnessed World War II begin and eventually come to his front door as the Red Army moved through Eastern and Central Europe.
To my surprise, he said his family actively fought and supported German forces against the Soviets. He said that they were anti-Hitler though, realizing Hitler was a racist imperialist tyrant. But why would they fight for Germany? He said they were afraid of the Soviet Union and what would happen if they ever attacked. Germany, despite its evils at the time, was the lesser of two evils and seen as their only protection against Stalin. Even before the German invasion of the USSR in 1941, they feared the Soviets would attack them.
I took this as a lesson that, while politicians and elite have their own desires and goals in war, the common people have completely other reasons to fight. As a soldier myself, I admit this is true too. I didn't enlist because I agree with the greedy desires of Washington DC, but because I want to protect my people. Sadly, people a century from now will say I fought for greedy desires, but I don't care.
