Posted 15 years agoAbout a week ago, I rediscovered a tab in firefox that I had opened sometime before FC. (There was a lot of stuff going on back in January, cut me some slack.) This lovely little tab was of a fluffy little fennec tail made out of yarn, crafted by the amazing
Bir. Well, I like yarn AND I like floofy tails, and I remembered a bit of a now-disappeared tutorial on how to make these lovely floofy tails, so I pulled out the tiny amount of acrylic I had in my stash and started experimenting. After an hour, I had (re-)invented the floof and figured out a few ways of attaching it to the base of a tail.
Then I made a trip to JoAnn's for yarn. Lots and lots of yarn for a red fox tail. I worked on the tail at night, after the rest of the house had gone to bed, under lights that had a much more yellowish cast than I have previously given them credit for. I ran into a few small snags with this first tail, but it's still about 2/3 of the way done. I lost the heart to work on it when I finally saw it in daylight and realized that the red yarn was just that: BRIGHT. FUCKING. RED. Not reddish-orange. Artificial lighting, I hate you.
Tails #2 and #3 were born out of a want to Do Things Right after sending a long-winded PM to Bir and recieving a lovely response. Each tail is roughly 24+" long and will require more floofs than I have made over the past few internet-less days. Hell, I haven't even turned my computer on until this morning, and I'm about to head to bed again. Poor
Raxil's request is still sitting there, so close to being finished. I really need to spend some more quality time with the picture. :\
Need sleeps so I can make another hundred-ish floofs in the evening. Started sewing floofs onto tail #2 and it's rather obvoius that I need MOAR FLOOFS. I'm really excited, though. The pretty blue-teal yarn I got is so shiny, and the white for my tail looks pretty awesome too.
