Thought crime is a slippery slope. As soon as society deems that it's okay to punish somebody for something that a majority finds distasteful (but not illegal) there is a precedence set that other distasteful thoughts may also be punished. There are examples of this in history.

At the first sign of FurAffinity's poorly planned morals being invoked in a way that conflicts my own moral code I will delete my account and recommend all others do the same. The users of this service are the content. The community is the source of revenue. Failing to protect the community from outside forces attempting to dictate a poorly thought out doctrine will have a limited effect on current subject matter. What about when they come for character art of quadrupeds? What about when they come for character art featuring anthropomorphic animals? Or the homosexuals?

FA leadership should be embarassed.

I suspect there are not many artists out there watching my lurker account, but if you depend upon FA at all for your livelihood or know somebody that does... please have a plan for alternative services, whatever they may be.
