I'm the critter further away from sportsball, let alone one that isn't famous in my country (tho I've seen some incredible and funny plays from american football matches). That said I was a stream on twitch yesterday and obviously US folks were talking about it, and what stuck with me was the following comment by an user.

"In order to prevent riots after the game, the mayor of Philly ordered the poles greased so people wouldn't climb on them." (which is fair, football / soccer is big here and riots be a thing also).

Immediately followed by a different user saying.

"The strippers in Philly had a really bad day at work at the city hall the following day."

That had me cracking for a full 20 minutes lol.

Anywho, was kinda wondering some stuff. Y'all know how we ascribe certain attributes to certain species, like a fox being quick-witted and cunning, an owl being wise and so on. What I was wondering was if there was a "himbo" species, what would it be? And I mean himbo in the Kronk sense, like yes a beefy "airhead" but also strangely competent when it comes to helping others. That would be a fun character to make.

-Bad news: Lastik's stylus went bye-bye
-Good news: Lastik got a replacement
-Bad news: Lastik's tablet doesn't recognize the new stylus
-Good news: model differences aside, the nibs are interchangeable and work on the old stylus.

So.... go me I guess? It's working so I'll take it.

.... or at least until I get a replacement for my stylus. It went up and died last wednesday. My tablet still recognizes it so I'm guessing it's the nib and I think I have some replacement ones deep in the fetid innards of my room, but if not I'll either have to order some. I'll wait for the weekend to look for them 'cause it involves moving some boxes around and I came down with a flu, so gonna wait 'till it's my day off and I'm feeling better.

Other than that, been playing Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 and it's been hella fun. It's grindy but in a fun kind of way and it incentivizes playing with several classes which pairs well with me being a serial altholic.

But seriously, got no beef with it per se, I've always been of a mindset of where in someone else's house, you play by their rules (and from what I got since I don't involve myself with drama, the issue before was the acting upon by the mod team as well as the malicious reporting, not so much the intent behind the policy. Still, the road to hell and all of that).

That's malicious Lastik, not "mailicious". Mailicious sounds like something deep in the kink department involving delicious parcels.

Anywho the point of this journal is that I dunno how some of my older works would fall in that category, so I wonder if it would be possible to contact some of the staff to take a look at them and give me their input. I don't have that many pieces (just the main gallery, I don't think I have anything in the scrap section that would fall into that category), and none of my more modern works are within the "danger zone" as it were. Still it's a tall order as I'm sure the staff is prolly very busy, but I'd appreciate a review so I can delete whatever is risky and I'd rather get that process going sooner rather than later. Don't wanna risk getting last minute panic or just gambling on everything being alright.

Other than that, been weathering through a cold, luckily I'm on vacation so I can just chill at home with no worries. Been utterly and madly in love with playing with my Holy Priest in WoW, finally figured out what my issue was, I don't like Shadow and I don't like Discipline but absolutely love Holy, even the DPS aspect of it. I don't output the numbers other specs and classes do (certainly not dps classes), but it just feels so satisfying and it simply clicks for me, like no other class has. Makes me wish there was a holy caster dps spec, maybe with party buff synergy like Augmentation Evoker.

Been also thinking of some SFW stuff, I got a ton of ideas I've mulled over the years and been doing some research on it.

Welp.. happy holidays from the Lastik and a cheeky new year! (and seriously, Christmas dinner, leftover lunch, wedding, new year dinner and the following leftover, my nutritionist is gonna murder me.)

Welp.. been hunting down a couple books for some time now 'cause they've been out of print. The other day was chatting with my father and got the random thought of checking it out. Sure enough I found them (and they're on the recent tab, so it was a recent event) and ordered them. Just in time too, 'cause just now I checked the publisher for an update on my order and the website had a big, red flag saying all orders past today will only be expedited after mid january!

The books in question are Vermis and Vermis 2 by the artist Plastiboo. For those of you who don't know, Vermis is a manual for a game that never existed, in a very macabre, dark-fantasy style art-style reminiscent of old adventure games. I find the whole concept fascinating and the world building Plastiboo did, very eerie and creepy. That's was my treat to myself. Check out images of it and you'll see Plastiboo's very iconic art style.

On a side note and given all the AI shenanigans going on, kinda make me want to do more traditional stuff (tho Plastiboo's is digital mind you). Makes me wanna dedicate more to SFW stuff too, what I love the most about stuff like this is exactly my problem in my storytelling, that I feel the need to justify or explain everything, when not only I do not have to, I really shouldn't. Mystery is the best spice after all.

Holy clickbaity title Batman!

By that I mean I've been thinking of deleting my stuff on twitter and closing up my account. Not that I ever got any grief on that place, in fact only reason I hesitate is due to all the awesome people I follow there, but that also means I'm fully aware of the impact all the increasing shenanigans have on the community, between mismanagement, AI, prudish inquisitions.. well y'all know that better than I. Now what prompted that, was that moments ago I was doing some groceries with a friend and while chatting he told me he closed up his account and deleted the app. I was like, daaamn, that bad huh? Mind you, he's not an artist or a social-adverse kind of guy, in fact he often sends me insta-reels or stuff like that, but if even a "normie" is batting down the hatches, it's high-time the Lastik does the same. Been a hot minute since I last interacted with the place anyway. He asked me about bluesky, of which I already have an account and I did tell him it's like good twitter.

So if y'all are following me on twitter, do give me a follow in Bluesky (or not, I'm not your daddy, no matter how many times ya call me that).

Other than that, finally deleted all the gacha games I had been playing on my phone. It reached a point where the daily stuff I had to do took up hours of my day and everything felt like a chore. Plus I didn't like the events being implemented and the power creep.

Treated myself to Breath of the Wild finally and I'd like to know from y'all Zelda fans if the season pass is worth or not. I might also get Tears of the Kingdom in the process.

Other than that, art-wise there's stuff I liked and didn't like about the Ivy piece, so I'm pondering stuff for the next piece (which will prolly be christmas related).

Been working on the lewd, tho today I had to redo some of the line work. Didn't like the background so changing things accordingly. Need to start thinking about the next ones already.

Been playing a ton of WoW and Vampire Survivors. Been going through content in order in VS, got the base game done, as well as the Legacy of Moonspell and Tides of Foscari, currently doing the Emergency Meeting (Among Us DLC). Love the sense of humour in that game. Also got the new Mario game on the switch (and might treat myself to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom this christmas). I feel kinda silly but the Mario games I like the most are the spin offs from the main platform games. The RPG ones with Mario and Luigi (I'm playing through Brothership), the Paper Marios, the Luigi Mansions, so fun.

You know you dun goofed when your nutritionist says "You know what I want? For this appointment never to have happened". The Lastik is grounded 'till his birthday in a month!

Other than that, doing the line work for the current lewd. It's a character I've never done before and it's going well if slow, because I'm a dumbass that went with some details that while they look good, are a PITA to make.

Another reason is that I upgraded my Switch to an oled model, and in my infinite wisdom I thought "You know what would be a perfect game to play on the switch? Vampire Survivors". Yeah.. because I don't already have an obscene amount of hours in that game on steam (I got it still in early beta and even reviewed it), and to top it off, the Castlevania DLC comes out tomorrow. I'm actually proud of that game since I've played it since it's infancy where it had to change its sprites and music because it was too close to it's inspiration. Lo and behold, it came so far that it's inspiration is now an official DLC to it.

With that I also got Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Now.. hear me out.. in all Legend of Zelda games, you play as Link, except in Echoes of Wisdom where you play as Zelda.

Mr. Nintendo sir, WHY IN THE NINE HELLS DID YOU NOT CALL THAT GAME LEGEND OF LINK: ECHOES OF WISDOM! IT'S A GOD DAMN WASTED GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!

Oooh boy, been an eventful few days here on FA hasn't it. 'Preciate all the effort and stress the staff been going through (well more like I recognise the stress they've been through, not happy that they had to go through it).

Anywho, things are looking a wee bit better for the Lastik and the lewd is progressing smoothly so far, currently rendering the pic and should be up soonish enough. Next one should be the yearly Velma, given my pace this year I wanna get this puppy started so it's done before the end of the decade. -.-

One thing I've been considering is whether I should bring my illustration style closer to a comic book approach, in that I oughta simplify my rendering so I get faster output. Doesn't mean a loss in quality, but rather a shift in design approach (which means a shift in aesthetics in the end).

Other than that, been playing Tiny Rogues a lot and looking forward for the War Within, WoW's next expansion that should be out in a few days (by my count on my day off no less).

Anywho, Lastik been having a stressful summer due to work related stuff. Some shit could have been avoided, some could not, we take it day by day and adjust accordingly.

To top it off, in the past week alone I managed to sprain my back while taking out my gym bag, a few days later my phone fell from the height lower than my knee and was the first crack I got in it in over 6 years and finally a couple days I managed to hurt what I think is my right shoulder rotator ligament while getting dressed. If my arm is bent I can lift it, but if it's stretched I can't. Good grief.

With the venting out of the way, on to happier stuff. Been playing WoW a lot, like, a lot A LOT. Did more dungeons and raids this last month or so than in my 20 years of WoW combined. Even got the Patient title and the perky pug pet, which is something I never thought I would, got the Claw of Eternus too as well. Pandaria Remix has been hella fun.

This leads me to the current lewd. I'm currently refining the sketch and can't believe I'm having trouble drawing the face of my panda girl, Pandarens are my favorite race and almost all of my mains have been those since the expansion first released. Dunno if it's because I've been drawing less so I'm lacking practice. Gonna be a tauren in it too (side note, forgot to screen shot my girls hair style, need to do that).

Got some new brushes I wanna try out too, been a hot minute since that last happened. I want to do more lewds and I'll probably do more WoW themed stuff, I don't often do shortstacks but vulpera and goblins have good potential for that.

Had a lot of fun moments, but one that stands out was when we had just finished raiding Mogu'shan Vaults and this convo happened in chat.

Raid leader- "For those who want, we'll be hitting Terrace of Endless Spring next, stay in the group if you want."

Me- "I'm down for some hot ToES action!"

Raid member- "Hmmmm.... hot toes action....'

Raid leader- "you freaks..."

I laughed my arse so much, shoutout to that random raid member who played along lol (and yes we breezed through ToES with no problem).

Okay, you know you've been slacking in the drawing department when even my boss calls me asking if everything is okay 'cause I haven't drawn in a hot minute. Also he was drunk and spent over an hour being a chatter box, and I'm not being hyperbolic, I checked the call time afterwards.

Honestly just haven't had any drive for it, tho I'm trying to change my routine to get back into the swing of things. I did try my hand at a lewd but I ended up scrapping it, the sketch just felt wrong at all steps at at that point it just felt like I was pursuing a dead end. I'm not the kind to give up easily, but I also like to think I've gained enough wisdom to know when to take what I learned from it and move on.

Been also sketching some SFW stuff trying to get the rhythm going and did come with some concepts that might be worth pursuing. Also fuck you brain, when I want to create something funny and cute you get all creepy ideas and when I'm trying to do something moody and atmospheric you go goofy mode.

Honestly (and the subject of the journal title), my latest guilty pleasure has been Isekais. I know the genre has a bad rep but honestly it's not the fault of the genre per se, but rather that it got oversaturated real hard, real fast. Is it deep or mind blowing? No, but it doesn't have to be. I like it precisely because it's straightforward and simple. Been on a binge of it lately.

My theory on the appeal of the genre is simple. You know how shonen (and not only shonen, stuff like super heroes or any genre that the character is a young person that discover they have special abilities or skills, like Harry Potter) appeals to a younger demographic yeah? You're young, you're defining yourself as a person, you're faced with the daily pressures and boredom and wishing to experience more, then suddenly you get whisked away to a world you only dreamed of and discover you're so much more.

Well my theory is that Isekais are the same, but for an older demographic (tho that doesn't mean it doesn't have appeal to a younger one as well). Simply put, isekai boils down to "what would you do if you could start a new life from the beginning with all the knowledge and experience you have". This is something we all fantasized at one point or another.

And for all the bad rep it has, some have funny twists to it. One is.. The real state developer... or something like that, and it's about a guy that gets sent to your traditional high fantasy medieval world with monsters, knights and magic.. and faces the challenges through urban planning. The whole thing is hilarious!

Gaming wise (which is also another chunk of my time), I'm a long time player of AFK Arena (going on 5 years in fact, I started playing shortly after the release), and recently started playing AFK Journey as well. If you folks don't know (and you should 'cause the ads are bloody everywhere on YT at least, good grief it's annoying), those two games have the Mauler faction which essentially furry ville. Journey introduced several new ones, but Smokey (a meerkat healer and support) and Odie (a very goofy and chilled marksman hyena) have been my mainstay throughout the campaign so far (and it's legit so, I've actually been doing experiments with the daily boss to see what performs best and those two have been giving me the best results). Bonus points because Odie is my mood 110% and Smokey is best dad (he's literally raising an adopted cub that is part of his model and animation). Those two are so wholesome!

Anywho, that's the current status of Lastik so far, y'all stay cheeky now!

I might do another lewd entirely or try out some SFW for a change of pace. Everything about it gave me trouble and I don't even particularly like the pose. Can't win them all I guess.

Other than that, just been chillin'. Been playing Last Epoch (finished the campaign the other day) and also been catching up on My Hero Academia (the manga that is). Hot damn that unnamed big lady! Y'all been simping for the wrong ones!

Back to the daily grind. Had a few days of vacation which are now over. Oddly enough my daily routine with work is more conductive to drawing 'cause almost all I did on vacation was playing WoW lol.

Lewd wise, I'm currently refining my sketch. Last night was mostly working on the expressions since it's two characters I'm not used to drawing. It's coming up nicely. There's still some stuff I need to figure out, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Health wise the damage from christmas and new year wasn't ... too bad
I didn't gain weight so there's that at least, but I don't think I'll meet my goal on the eval next week lol.

No, not for the new year lewd, that one is chosen as per the previous journal. It's gonna be a character I never done before but then.. I think I only drew two dragons in my life and they were both in the same pic lol.

So here's the thing. Been drawing for.. good grief... 35ish years now, and been playing videogames for almost as long, but curiously enough I've never actually played lewd games until recently. Of late I've been enjoying those and actually been surprised with the quality of them, some of that stuff actually has more thought and care put into not only the lewd scenes but also the writing and the mechanics. Why I recently got into them is also a funny story. On occasion I browse the apple store on my phone and download a bunch of gacha games to try them out. I enjoy playing idle games and while most I give a try and end up deleting because they don't pass the muster, some I do keep playing. One of those games seemed pretty standard, isekai plot, build a village, recruit villagers, seemed like an idle gacha with a building twist to it. I download it without much thought to it and... I'm greeted by the most scantily clad animal-girls with the most generous proportions and.. heck, everything-girls (so far I've seen goblins, kemono, scarecrow, plant, book and who know what else-girls) wanting to be my... family is the term they put there

I mean it's not 18+, apple doesn't allow that on the stores I think but damn they thread the line with the ecchi there. What surprised me tho was actually the quality of not only the artwork (and variety of it, like I said I've seen all sorts of fantasy characters including full out anthros, undeads, personifications of concepts or objects) but also the writing and mechanics (like while you do actually fight, when you do is actually in self-defence and it happens rarely, most of the time the conflict takes the form of negotiations which is what your character is good at).

All that long spiel to ask this. Gimme your lewd game suggestions, doesn't necessarily need to have anthros or kemonos there, but which ones do you like, which ones do you think are fun and/ or high quality and so on. I'm talking PC here, not mobile, and if they're on steam the better.

On that note, that Ratchet and Clank game with Rivet is on sale on steam, I oughta take advantage of that!

First of all, I've seen some folks have some reckless driving habits, most common of all probably being driving with only one hand while smoking. This however was a first. On my way to the gym this morning saw this dood driving a van while eating soup. I shit you not, dood was holding the bowl in one hand, another holding the spoon and happily munching away while driving.. with his thighs I guess? My brother in christ, I admire your dedication to soup, but temper your enthusiasm lest you eat soup no more!

Now for the main part of the journal. Gimme dragon (or reptile adjacent) character ideas for me to make a year of the dragon pic. By that I mean franchise characters, not OCs. Also I have preference for female ones, but will do males if need be.

Really.. I said I wanted to focus a bit on SFW since it's been over an year.. well the universe went "Hold my beer" on me and I got bombarbed by new furry waifu material in a very short time (mostly from games).

Speaking of which, the christmas lewd is progressing along. Finished the background today and gonna start on the flats soon. It's not one of the new characters but it is one I've never done before tho I had plans to. It's looking awesome so far!

Manga wise, got the first two volumes of Witch Hate Atelier and was gonna order more but.. they all mysteriously went out of stock, including the ones I got. If they don't restock guess I'll have to go second hand on them. In the meantime I did get the first volumes of Blue Lock!

(seriously, these new waifus.. hot damn.. been playing this game for 4-5 years now and now I'm absolutely sure they're catering to a specific kind of audience... namely me!)

Actually had the celebration yesterday, family also celebrates the time our two families came together and since it was on a sunday rather than a monday it was more convenient for everyone. We went out for lunch, had my weekly cheat meal. Shared an entrée with my dad (some clams), some cured cheese slices, had a grilled tuna steak with a slice of toasted bread with olive oil, drank a couple small glasses of sangria and for dessert had a blueberry pannacotta (which was surprisingly good, right on that perfect spot between sweet and sour). Good thing too, turns out a family member had a last-minute rescheduling of a doctor appointment in another town, so they're over there now.

No special plans for the Lastik. Woke up early, had the breakfast my nutritionist had suggested since my trainer implemented a new, more intensive, plan, which had me leaving the gym feeling hungry. That was actually a first for me, feeling sore and tired, that's usual, but hungry was a first. That was what actually made it sink on me that, yes, you're upping it a notch at the gym. No more baby gloves for the Lastik!

After that, got home, took a shower, did some meal prep and since I had the house for myself, did the dishes to clear up the clutter, and now got the rest of the day ahead of me!

Art wise got an idea for the next lewd already, but at the same time I wanna do some SFW since it's been an year since I last did anything in that area. Maybe further some stuff with my comic.

Also just had my gym eval, everything is going great (could have gone better had I not had my cheat meal on sunday, but I had just gotten out of my last shift before vacations and wanted to celebrate). My trainer gonna make a new plan and I should start it on thursday if all goes well.
