Lastik's art, comics and life update
Posted 2 years agoFor once it's not FF 14 related (seriously been deep into Baldur's Gate 3, oh Astarion, you do so make me question my... moral alignment!).
Sooo.. 4 weeks since I started the gym, 3 weeks since I started with the nutritionist. On the 2nd week evaluation with the nutri, I officially lost 4 kg, 4 cm to my waist (that's 9 pounds and 1.5 inches in freedom units), lost visceral fat, upped the water percentage and muscle mass. I went from 101 kg to 97 kg ( 222 pounds to 213 pounds). Things are shaping up (literally), been feeling hella good!
I also got a two week vacation coming up next saturday. I ain't going anywhere, but just having two weeks without thinking or worrying about work gonna be awesome!
Art wise, finally got the yearly Velma back on track (tablet issues aside, I need to start planning getting a new one). The background is done, started rendering her (and that's all that's left really). Should be done soon.
Comic and manga wise, went on a Paru Itagaki spree and got Drip Drip as well as the first three volumes of Sanda. Sanda arrived yesterday and read a bit of the first volume today, it's shaping up to be the weirdest christmas tale ever.
Drip Drip should arrive today. While these last two aren't antropomorphic I do so love how Paru's art has matured over the years, and looking forward to see where she's gonna go with Sanda.
Comic wise, had an unexpected flash of inspiration yesterday at the gym of all things. I was watching some YT vids on my phone while doing cardio and one of the videos suggested was about Italian Knife Fighting. I watched the vid and it was really cool. Among other stuff, the guy showed techniques to draw the blade, practiced with both hands (important if you get injured on your dominant hand), practiced in different environments like stairs and what really picked my interest was that he also used other objects, namely scissors.
No, I'm not gonna go stabby-stabby lol. This was of interest to me because one of the main characters in my SFW comic is a tailor, so seeing someone using scissors for self-defence was really interesting. Bonus points for it being italian and the setting of my comic is in a pseudo-italian like town
That about it for the Lastik, stay cheeky y'all!

Lastik hit a snag
Posted 2 years agoHit a snag on the yearly Velma. Basically was trying (again) the whole painting with values first thing, but that's a process that just ain't for me. I know the idea behind doing things in value first (that is to say black and white) is to make it easier to process information since you're processing only the values instead of values and hues, but with me the opposite happens and it tires my eyes so much more (not to mention the added mental energy being expended on a process that I'm not familiar with). There's also the matter that doing things in values first doesn't take into account how hues (colors) actually influence the perception of values when interacting with each other.
TLDR for non-artists: Started painting in black and white, wasn't working, decided to do colors first as I usually do,
Other than that, taking a wee break from FF 14. Started Stormblood and left my character parked in Gyr Abania after contacting the resistance. This is simply because been in a DnD mood lately and been scratching my itch with Baldur's Gate 3.
I just love creating characters in it and exploring builds lol, don't even have any past lvl 3

Lastik's spooOOOOooky journal OoOOOoo
Posted 2 years agoSome stuff going down, but good stuff.
Joined a gym a couple weeks ago and also had an appointment with a nutritionist. Things are going well in that front and I legit enjoy the foods I've been eating. Lost some weight already.
Art-wise, the yearly Velma won't be ready in time for Halloween, but it's getting done. I've finished the sketch and gonna start rendering. Gonna try my hand at something different this time.
FF 14, just done finished Heavensward and started Stormblood!
That about it for the Lastik, y'all have some spooky fun now!

Lastik is sore and confused
Posted 2 years agoYey, clickbaity title!
Both are true tho, but for good reasons. I'm sore because I've finally decided to get healthier and joined a gym. Had my eval on monday (actually better than I expected TBH) and already started on the plan. I'm doing 4 days a week, mondays, tuesdays, rest on wednesday, thursdays and fridays. WAL SITS ARE EEEVIIILLLL and that my trainer put those on both my plans, is proof he hates me and is a big booly!
The confused part is in regards to FF 14.
I'm on the last part of post Heavensward, just done defeating Titan (HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE DO THIS OLD MAN!), and heading towards the very obvious trap set by Urianger. Gotta say so far my two favorite characters have been Aymeric and Urianger (couldn't resist and looked up a bit on Urianger, and his concept art for Shadowbringers looks badass!).
But anyways, I dinged 70 and unlocked my last two classes, reaper and sage. My confusion is this, I want to take up a healing class and I kinda like the aesthetic and gameplay of Sage. The whole thing with shields and Kardia is very remniscent of Discipline priests in WoW, but at the same time I fear it might conflict if there's another shield based healer in the party (be it scholar or another sage). I'm also somewhat scared because it's a role that has more responsibility than a dps. If I'm in a trial or raid and die as a dps, I'll prolly get rezzed or folks won't have a prob finishing even with me floor tanking, but if I die as a healer, shit will prolly hit the fan.
Even as a tank it's prolly easier. Has a tank I can check a vid on a trial or a dungeon to know how the layout or mechanics are and those won't change. However as a healer, there's no accounting for the human factor!
My question is this, what's you folks opinions on the several healer classes and which one you think it's best for a new player to ease into the healing role?
Other than that, been sketching the yearly Velma, but I feel the one I'm working currently is a bust. I like the body type and shape, but there's no narrative going. Back to the drawing board with it I guess... literally.

Lastik's serious FF 14 question...
Posted 2 years agoSo what's Lastik's favorite Trial in FF 14?
Thicc Ass Thicc! 👌 ( ̄m ̄〃)
...seriously, I can't be the only one that read "Thok ast Thok" as "Thicc Ass Thicc" !

Lastik fell in love! (FF 14 and Art thoughts)
Posted 2 years agoHad a hella good day off! Played a ton of FF 14, hit lvl 60 (62 to be more precise), unlocked Gunbreaker, Dancer, flying in one of Coertha's islands and progressed the MSQ along up to the point I rescued a certain someone (swell guy if a bit armless ) and am currently party'd up with a certain dragoon, a certain puberty stricken kid with a penchant for tactics and a dragon-geeking fangirl, on our way to meet the fangirl's dragon senpai in the hopes they'll notice us.
Now Gunbreaker is fun and all (tho the duty to unlock it was harsh I gotta say, was the only thing I had to do twice so far), I've always like Squall from FF 8 after all, and I do appreciate that the uniform we get is straight up his.
But man.., Dancer.. completely fell in love with the class. It's just so fun to play as one. I love the aesthetics of it and the gameplay feels amazing and really easy to slide into and learn. It's RNG heavy, but it's a fun RNG.
I guess now that I think about it, that's also why I leaned towards Bard (which also has a lot of RNG involved).
You see, most other classes you need to plan around what buffs and abilities you weave between weapon skills essentially (and TBF you also need to think a bit with Dancer and Bard). This is absolutely fine and the farthest side of that spectrum would be the Black Mage in that you REALLY need to plan your stuff ahead with the ley lines and whatnot.
On the other side of the spectrum would be the Dancer and the Bard I feel. It's not that it takes less brains to play one class over the other, but rather it takes a different kind of thought process. Black mage is intelectual execution, "I want to achieve this goal, these are the steps I need to do in order to get there, so now I'm going to execute them.", whereas Dancer is instinctual adaptation, "I have this goal, I'm in this situation right now, this is what I need to do in order to move towards that goal, so I'm going to adjust and reassess on the next step. Rinse, repeat until it's done."
But Lastik, you say, aren't you reading tou much into this?
This is because it mirrors my views on art!
You've seen folks saying you need to study a lot in art, know about a ton of theories and whatnot, while others just seem to "eyeball" it and get it right, yeah? It's the same spectrum (and FYI it has nothing to do with talent, that's a rant for another day).
Some folks thought process revolve around planning and logic. Their art process is the sum of their intelectual knowledge and it grows as that knowledge grows as well. They need to understand the why it's like that in order to replicate it. Color theory, deep anatomic knowledge, focal points, lines of action, negative spaces, etc. It's an equation to be solved step by step. A prime example of this would be Leonardo da Vinci.
Other folks thought process revolve around adaptation and refinement. Their art process is the result of an accumulated visual and experience library which serves as a basis to adapt to any situation in their art process, this done time and again adding to that mental library. "I like this, I don't like this, I like this but I need to change it, this has potential but needs further exploration, this was unintended but good", and so that library grows and the ability to adapt and explore expands. If the theory is the core for the intelectual, then the eye is the core for the adaptive. By seeing a lot of images and details, the adaptive refines their eye to quickly identify and process information and adapt accordingly. A good example of this would be Miguelangelo.
Mind you tho, it's spectrum, not a duality. Some folks lean more towards one side or the other and even folks firmly on one side benefit a lot to learn a bit from the other. If you rely too much on theory, your creations will be stiff, mechanic and lifeless, while if you rely too much on adaptation you'll have fuckall idea what yer doing. A little theory can act as a multiplier to the solutions you have stored in your mental library.
This was a very important epiphany I had a few years back. I was having the mother of all burnouts (in fact if you go to my library you'll see I had a long hiatus in which I drew nothing), because I thought of myself as being stupid. I couldn't understand most theory, I couldn't remember anything past basic anatomy, all my stuff felt klunky and bad, I spent stupid amounts of time sketching to no avail, the theories I tried to apply failed, everything was horrible. Now the theories were sound, folks used it to great effect so the problem was me right?
Well.. no. Took me a while but I finally understood that I wasn't dumb, I simply had a different kind of intelligence. That learning process is fine BUT it's not the right kind for someone with my kind of mental architecture. While others strong point is planning and logic thought process, mine is adaptation and exploration. I couldn't (and can't) plan for shit, but I'm VERY good at finding the shapes in the clouds and work from there.
Again spectrum, tho I'm definitely on the far side of the adaptive / instinctual camp.
And this arcs back to why I fell in love with the Dancer class in FF 14, because of all the classes I've played so far, this one feels the most (so far) in tune with my mental architecture and thus the one that gives me the most joy playing.
Hella long rant I know, but it was fun to put all this in writing. Side note for you folks on the adaptive side like me (and the others too, but that's already part of your process), writing down stuff like this is absolutely GREAT to clarify and solidify your thoughts. If yer having trouble conceptualizing or organizing your thoughts on something, try to write it down!

Lastik's of FF14 and Velma adventures!
Posted 2 years agoNo, there won't be a crossover between Scooby-Doo and FF 14 (tho at this point it wouldn't surprise me either TBH)
That time of the year again so gonna start pondering on the yearly Velma. This last pic I did of Tawna didn't turned out so well so I'm reconsidering rendering and aesthetic styles, might try out new stuff!
FF 14 wise, just did the last two Crystal Towers alliance raids as well as the Chrysalis so I'm on the fast track to finally finish ARR! Can't wait to unlock all the new goodies!
Had a lot of fun in the World of Darkness raid, 'cause folks started talking about Bard buffs and I chimed in saying "I haven't unlocked the 3rd song yet 'cause I'm still to finish ARR, I'm the sproutiest of sprouts lol".
The reaction was a universal "You're going through ARR as a Bard?! OH MY SWEET SUMMER CHILD!!" "Enjoy and have fun!!", "Keep at it and be ready to have a lot of sore fingers". Folks were a lot of fun and supportive. This is truly a far cry from the wow community.
Also had a "DOOM HOMEBOYS REPRESENT" moment in chat 'cause I kinda missed the tell on the first cast. Only once tho, caught it the other times. Did good on all other mechanics as well.
Got my Onion Knight and my Puff of Darkness! \( º3º)/

Lastik got the Leviathan Trial done!
Posted 2 years agoI'm a complete dumbo, I was wondering why I was dying so much more as a bard than with any other classes while playing solo. My gear disparity isn't that big, my skill usage isn't perfect but I know what to use and when.. then it dawned on me, unlike other classes my feet aren't actually glued to the ground. That did it
With THAT bit sorted in my head, I took a deep breath and queued for my 2nd trial and my first as a bard (the previous one I had done as a samurai, though I had leveled mostly as a bard). I had watched a vid beforehand so I knew more or less what to do. Trial started, did my dots, had my songs rolling, attacked the tail (physical ranged needs to attack this one), skedaddled away from the smash, worked on the ads and the orbs and was eyeing the shield generator but didn't need to do it as a caster got there in time. Everything went smoothly and I got my first commendation and it was as a bard no less!!
The FF14 community is really a far cry from the WoW one. Everyone was super supportive and cheering each other. Also for all the talk about DPS queue time it has been fairly short for me so far (like 5 minutes or so). Did get hit with the "party disbanded 'cause someone didn't confirm" once tho
Might stick with Bard 'till I start Heavensward I think. Kinda miffed I can't progress with my bard class quests 'till I do so but it is what it is.
I've always like rangers and I've always like support and using DoTs so it was a pleasant discovery that Bard had all 3 in a neat package... even if the transition from Archer to Bard is.. a bit of a stretch lol. I appreciate the effort tho. "Oh archers need to see a lot and because they see a lot they get emotional and start singing."... fam last I checked snipers need to be cool under pressure, I think the rationale was " A bow is kinda like an harp so let's make them spoony bards" and the writers just tried to make something dramatic out of that
Aight, gonna go get ready for work, woke up to a ton of group messages ending with "WE NEED TO CALL THE BOSS!!". Turns out my colleagues where in a tizzy 'cause they found a rat.

Lastik did the first trial! (FF 14 spoilers)
Posted 2 years agoSo playing through Final Fantasy 14 MSQ, got to the part we face King Kupo and holy moly now do I understand why everyone says to turn down or disable other players visual effects! I couldn't see shit in front of me! I did check a vid before attempting it so I kinda knew what to do more or less (not that that fight is particularly complicated).
I was expecting for the queue to take longer since I needed that specific trial and I'm DPS, but it ended up being real fast (well 6 minutes, but I'm still from the paleolithic era of shouting LFG in a city main chat).
One thing I still haven't wrapped my head around are the glamours. In WoW once you have the item, you unlock the transmog for it even if you vendor it afterwards, same for GW2. Here we need to use specific items to store them and we have a limited space for them also?
I'm kinda at a loss on what to glamour or not (except for my dearly beloved fat chocobo head).
I also haven't sold much gear yet 'cause lower level classes need it (and again kinda afraid to lose out on potentially cool glamours), so I'm kinda getting inventory bloat.
Another question I have is regarding Blue, so you learn the skills from enemies because that's what a blue mage always did in FF (I'm looking at you Quistis Trepes, you literally had the skill Devour). Some of the enemies are dungeons only and Blue is a limited class? Wont that mean I can't join in the dungeon to learn the skill? Also I don't actually need to get hit by the skill yeh? The enemy just needs to use it and if it's defeated, there's a chance I'll learn it.
I'm really enjoying ARR and I've currently just finished the "A Realm Awoken" section. Looking forward to finishing the patches content so I can unlock Ishgard and a bunch of classes!
On that matter, what's yer favorite tank and healer, and why do you like them?
On the art department things are progressing (yes). The whole thing has a main scene and 3 vignettes, I got the main scene and one of the vignettes done, and am currently doing the flats for the 2nd vignette. I kinda wanna do something with Shikabane (aggretsuko) in the future, took a liking to the character.
That about it for the Lastik, stay cheeky y'all.

Lastik's FF14 adventures
Posted 2 years agoBeen stormy and I got a hella headache. Did some 12 hour shifts at work which didn't help either, but at least I got two days offs now.
Surprisingly enough given the workload my my FF14 enthusiasm, I actually did good progress on the lewd and got the main scene done. Just need to do the 3 short vignettes now.
Anyways.. So FF14 spoilers ahead so be warned.
Just done the MSQ in which we rescue the scions from the Castrum and rally the alliance leaders after the Empire gives them the Ultima weapon ultimatum. I'm guessing I'm... halfway through it? Maybe 2/3s of the Realm Reborn MSQ?
Been trying out other classes and currently my highest is the Red Mage at lvl 55. It has a cool rhythm to it, tho I'm looking for other classes that hook me. I tried samurai but it seemed a hella lot complicated. Also got a Bard at 50 (I unlocked the Red Mage and Samurai with that one), and a Summoner and Scholar at 38. Scholar was actually fun, didn't expect the fairy to auto-heal party members unprompted. Was expecting to be similar to Carbuncle in which you'd have to cycle states.
I know I unlock some more stuff at 60 I believe, so maybe I'll stick to Red Mage for a while longer. Most of the other stuff requires me to finish a realm reborn first.
Also tried Monk but I don't like the rotation, feels clunky having to keep track of stances and positions. Maybe I should try the ninja or the lancer instead.
Tank wise.. gladiator didn't catch my eye, feels like it does significant less damage than marauder. Looking forward to unlock Gunbreaker and Dark Knight tho.
Anywho, that's about it for the Lastik, stay cheeky y'all!

Lastik talks FF 14 (small early game spoiler)
Posted 2 years agoSo the Lastik settled on playing a Falafel. I picked pugilist as my starter class then changed it to archer because I always loved those, and I'm currently at around.. lvl 32-35 I wanna say.
Started my journey in Uldah and eventually got a quest that took me to some copper mines to kill some giants, which incidentally was also my first dungeon.
Now here's the thing. According to the story, some hundreds of years ago, the Falafel enslaved a race of giants with spells, took them to the mines and forced them to mine ore. Eventually the spells failed and 300 years ago the giants revolted against their slavers, which resulted in the Falafel collapsing the deep tunnels on the giants imprisoning them underground. Fast forward to the present, the Falafel have need of the ore, they reopened the mine, dug too deep, accidentally released the giants who are now a tad miffed at the whole situation. Naturally the Falafel ask us, the noble and stalwart adventurer, to help them reclaim the mines before the giants get out.
Remind me again why are we helping these guys?
And even in the other areas. I've progressed enough in the story to join a certain organization and saw the 3 remembrance services. I have a small understanding now of what the primals are, their goals, how they operate and why the player characters are important in opposing them. I know that the primals sponsor the beast races that are attacking the three city-states. Thing is tho.. in all three cases all the beast races had their homes there 'till the elves/falafel/one-piece fishmen arrived and told them GTFO.
I'm all up for playing a morally-ambiguous dood, but... we sure we're the good guys here? 'Cause I'm kinda getting mixed signals!
Sass aside, been loving the game and the story so far. I just wanna say that I absolutely LOVE that you can queue in with a NPC party for dungeons (at least for MSQ ones). I know, I know, "It's an MMO, it's supposed to be a cooperative game, why play it if you're gonna go solo?!", there's many reasons for it but no point in me getting salty. Instead the reason is that it let's me get to know the dungeon and the mechanics at my own pace as well as practice my role in that environment without the pressure of wasting other folks time and patience! As a DPS this is not so much important, because what you do in dungeons is more or less what you did while questing, but as someone who loves playing support (mainly healing, but also tanking), this is fantastic! I did the training quests with the Smith, but this lets me practice in an actual dungeon as much as I like! I'm playing archer ATM but I'm actually hyped to play a healing class again!
That's about it for the Lastik! Health wise I'm healing a cold, lewd wise chipping away at the current one that turned out more complicated than expected (it's coming out nicely, but gonna have to redo the tentacles, which aren't actually tentacles, but for all intents and purposes..)
Also avoiding Twitch for the time being. Between Baldur's Gate 3, Sea of Stars and Blasphemous 2, that's a lot of folks streaming those games and I don't want no spoilers on them!
Stay cheeky y'all!

Lastik gone and did it!
Posted 2 years agoYay, clickbaity title!
Went and pruned ye ol' videogame library. Uninstalled a bunch of stuff I was no longer playing and also cancelled my WoW sub since I haven't played it since May. I've always been an on and off WoW player TBH. Pandaren are still my fav race in all the MMOs I've played and the world needs more lewds of them, but it is what it is.
I did cave in and got Final Fantasy 14 (in no small part because I've been binging Jocat's crap guides and folks reactions to them), $20 for all the expansions plus a free month was pretty dope.
I've also been playing Baldur's Gate 3. Been playing DnD in the Forgotten Realms setting since the 90's and the first thing I did was recreate my character there. Been awesome so far, love the attention to the little details like the item descriptions in the underwear lol.
The lewd is progressing albeit slowly. Just finished the first flats and started rendering. At least the major decisions are done already so the rest should be "just" the doing.

Lastik needs y'alls help.
Posted 2 years agoThe Lastik has some very troublesome and annoying clients at work tonight, it's like their company specializes in hiring Karens, so if y'all know someone who's good and discreet at making people... take unsolicited one way bus trips .... wink, wink, nudge, nudge..
Jokes aside (well the bus trip part anyway, I am dealing with some Karens for realsies), I do needs y'alls eye balls for a sec.
I was gonna leave this a surprise since I said I'm lewding a character I never have before, but now that I'm almost done with the sketch I needs y'alls to check something for me. Do the Bandicoots have tails? I mean the characters from the Crash Bandicoot franchise. I was under the impression they do, but now looking at the official art I'm not sure!
Anywho, Gabe Newel felt my emotional damage and personally sent me a mail saying he put on Slime Rancher 2 on sale JUST for me, so I know what I'll be doing when I get home. I needs me something relaxing and cute to cheer me up.
Y'alls stay cheeky now!

LASTIK IS FURIOUS, IRATE, A TAD MIFFED EVEN
Posted 2 years ago- Puts on a chill Poly Bridge OST on YT
-Starts sketching
- YT inserts ads at the end of each 3 minute song
-"HEY YOU WANNA TRY A MONTH FREE OF YT PREMIUM, NO ADS!"
Bitch, this is why people use adblocks. -.-
(and the reason I'm not is 'cause I'm at work and I don't wanna install nothing on the workplace computer)
Been quiet since the last picture 'cause first started playing heavily modded Skyrim (I know, what's this, last decade?) and then Diablo 4 (maining an ice shard sorcerer, currently doing renown stuff before I tackle the capstone dungeon, softcore character). Couple that with workplace shenanigans and been hella tired. Not because "ZOMG TOO MUCH VIDJYAGAYME", but more because getting home without any mental energy, and I feel like playing something that don't require much brainpower on my part.
Anywho, started working on the next piece, gonna be a character from a franchise I never did before, still in the initial sketching phase seeing what clicks and what doesn't.
Perhaps more importantly, I may do an early, yearly Velma this year, maybe after this one I'm sketching. Reason for this is my comic circle is gonna do an halloween publication and I wanna do a short story for it (tho I have no ideas yet). Better to have it done in advance, than to do the story first and then rush the Velma for the sake of getting it out in October).

The Lastik clarifies.
Posted 2 years agoNo, the Lastik ain't going anywhere. The last journal is just to keep pinned so folks can follow me other places.
Do I have my thoughts and opinions on this? Eeyup, but there's plenty o' noise already and I'd only add to it.
This gallery is my oldest NSFW gallery and this year (if it gets there) it will be 18 years old. This gallery alone is of legal age in just 6 months. I got a ton of material here and I don't have the energy nor time to review every single piece.

Posted 2 years agoLastik is goin' tentacular
Posted 2 years agoSup everyone, workin' on the next lewd and it's somethin' I haven't done yet (and you can pretty much guess by the journal title). It's two characters (well mostly one) that I haven't drawn yet too. They're from the Sonic franchise and the main one is a female. Sketch is already done and I can already tell it's gonna be a pain to render, I'm only ponderin' muh blue balls.. I mean the background. I did a quick color sketch of the main colors just to get an ideal of the composition, to see what sort of colors would look good on the background and from there try to decide what do in that regard.
Other than that, business as usual, work tired, videogames gud, yada yada. Been playin' a lot of survivor games (ya know, Vampire Survivor and the style), and I'm lookin' forward to Diablo 4.

Lastik's everything hurts!
Posted 3 years agoEXERCISE IS EVIL, WHY DO PEOPLE DO IT!! ( o `3´ )º
Seriously, decided to dust off my Switch and get back into sweating a bit to burn out the holiday excesses. Alas my Ring Fit is down for the count, my Switch won't recognize the cartridge and it's waaaay past warranty dates, so I decided to get and try out some other fitness games. Ended up picking Let's Get Fit which even though has issues detecting certain movements, this doesn't affect anything other than your score (which is only for bragging rights as far as I can tell). It has a good warm up and cool down set (a flaw in some other games), as a good questionnaire regarding your physical condition and has a ton of 1 month plans with varying intensity depending on your goals.
Also today the plan I'm on introduced crunches so now I feel pain and betrayal!
Following that, decided to update my games and took a gander at my island in Animal Crossing. Ooooh boy, according to them it had been a year since I last visited. Still everything was gucci other than a ton of weeds and 'roaches on my house.
So why get back to AC then? Well, was planning on a Valentine's pic but was having trouble deciding on a character, so I figured I'd take on again that challenged I did to myself and draw my villagers. Already picked the target and got a basic sketch going on.
Also on the game department, Melatonin, great rhythm game with the chillest and vibest of soundtracks and awesome artwork. Ya'll check it out if you're into it or just check some YT VoDs if you're curious about the music (which I highly recommend). Been my playlist lately for drawing!

Lastik learned a lesson!
Posted 3 years agoNever upload pics at the hour I uploaded that year of the bunny pic. It's a very good pic and one of my best, but holy moly did I got almost no engagement on it.
I don't usually fuss about numbers, but I did notice I got very few interactions everywhere I uploaded the image (seriously, in Newsground where you need to get a minimum of five votes to get a rating, it didn't even got that). In FA this isn't so bad because the submissions stay in people's notifications 'till they clean it and I already have a good pool of watchers (tho I didn't get any growth from it, AKA new watchers).
So I took a gander at my analytics here on FA, divided views by favs to get a ratio ('cause older pics will obviously get more views and favs) to see what pics had the most interaction and at what time and day they'd been uploaded and experimented doing a compilation tweet and a retweet on Twitter on what seemed the most promising hour of the day. Lo and behold, had almost instant feedback.
This is not to say one should obsessively optimize every single aspect, but at least I got an idea of what hours to avoid uploading for crickets lol.

Lastik wishes y'all a happy year of the buns
Posted 3 years agoAs the title says, happy year of the buns for y'all, may your buns be ever plentiful!
Been a bit lethargic but tryin' to fight it back and be more active. That last holiday pic was.. well it isn't bad by any means, but it also doesn't have much oomph to it, metrics also say as much.
That said, workin' on a year of the bun pic that you lovers of the lads will enjoy. The sketch is looking great, and been a hot minute since I last did anything for those that like dem boys.
My current struggle is with my rendering ATM. I'm not really sure in which direction to take this, kinda want to simplify rendering for a more minimalist approach. This is both to make things faster so I can make more, to make things easier to read by reducing visual clutter and to focus on color palettes instead. Plus not gonna lie.. while playing WoW I had the dumbest of ideas for a lewd comic that actually has potential.

Lastik's halloween update
Posted 3 years agoBackground is fully done as well as the flats, gonna start rendering and I expect to get a good chunk done today.... totally not because it's pre-patch implementation day in WoW and the servers will be unavailable for a while...
Some more Beastar volumes arrived! With this I have the full french edition, except for Beast Complex 3 and I have the Viz english edition up to volume 20 (and Beast Complex 1).

Lastik is on vacation!
Posted 3 years agoFinally on vacation.. and by that I mean staying at home because insulation work has begun on the building I live in and access to a certain part needs to be done through my bedroom. I talked to the folks running the gig on site (AKA not a big-wig 500 km away), explained my situation as a night-shifter that needs sleeping during the day and luckily since I'm on vacations when the work begins, they'll focus on getting the part that needs my room done first. The rest should be done with scaffoldings that don't impact me. If all goes well, this part should be done well off before my vacation ends.
Other than that, Velma is well underway, currently refining the sketch. Opted for a mini-comic style like these last pieces I've done. Kinda wondering what do in regards to background tho.

Ya'll have failed the Lastik...
Posted 3 years agoIt's almost October and not a single one of ya reminded the Lastik it's about time to start thinking about the yearly Velma!
Eeyup folks, that time of the year drawing near again (pun intended). Besides Velma there's also another character I wanna draw a lewd of and it would fit the Halloween theme actually, tho it's not Scooby Doo related. I'll prolly make two halloween lewds this year as such.
Also thanks for the watches and the favs, there was a bunch of folks watching me recently and I usually give thanks to new watchers, but been very tired lately (work shit, I'm the only one here that hasn't taken vacations yet) and accidentally erased my new watched notifications.
That about it for the Lastik, ya'll stay cheeky now!

The Lastik has been busy
Posted 3 years agoSorry for the radio silence folks, been real busy at work for the last weeks. Had 1 day off in 3 weeks which have been waaaay busier than usual (and to add to that got a colleague that was on vacations and another that is on a sick leave). Haven't had much energy to draw lately.
That said, finally rested these last two days. Slept for a full 8 hours uninterrupted, can't even remember the last time that happened.
Art wise, I'm workin' on SFW two comics. One is the follow up to that last comic I did and the other is a completely different one(even aesthetically). I'm still on the writing and sketching phase with both.
Lewd wise.. well not much energy for anything as I said, been in the mood for one tho as my drawing energy has been mostly focused on the comics.
Reading wise, been reading Mouse Guard lately, done with the first volume, mid way through the second. Really enjoy the small details he gives to the world. Very good low-fantasy setting.
Gaming wise, been chilling with Bear and Breakfast, love the artwork and the loveable characters. I also got Cult of the Lamb which I had my eye on for a bit now. Gonna have breakfast after this journal, then I'll finally boot it up!
Side note, I'm learning French and I'm also brushing up on my Spanish. So today was doing my french exercises when I misspelled jambon as Juanbon. If I ever make a pig character, I know what I'll name him! 😂😂😂
That about it for the Lastik, stay cheeky ya'll!

Updates on the House of Lastik
Posted 3 years agoCovid came and went, no damage done and in fact it actually helped me. Two days into isolation and I ran out of coffee so it basically weaned me out of it (spent a hella time sleeping on the first days tho). Now I only have one small cup per day. Also already lost the weight I had gained during the isolation so go me!
The comic con went well, had three of my comic pages in exposition with good quality. The fanzine was also published and released on the comic con. That last one I got mixed feelings, as I lost a lot quality wise. Mind you I'm grateful that it got published, but talking to other comic artists and publishers at the con and showing them the originals I had on my phone, they reassured me the problem wasn't in how I did the comic, but in the quality of the paper used in the printing. One artist flat out said that the amount of grey tone lost was absurd and no amount of higher resolution would solve that. Living and learning I guess..
Already sketching the next lewd, gonna be a character I haven't done yet but always liked. Gonna present it's own challenges painting but I got some ideas floating in my tiny woodland squirrel brain.
On that matter, the eternal dilema of should I do fanart or do OCs? I love doing fanart, but I also got some ideas I'd like to do lewd wise that would prolly be better with OCs.
Other than that, reading some of the loot I got during the comic con. Got Mausart, a beautifully drawn comic in pastels of the adventures of a tiny mouse composer (obviously based of of Mozart), as well as "Everything Falls", the latest book of Blacksad and Jack Wolfgang (haven't touched that one yet, but main character is a wolf).
That about it for Lastik, stay cheeky ya'll.
