Five Nights at Freddy’s? A major motion picture? Oh how far we’ve come.

The Hollywood Reporter reports (Hollywoodly) that Freddy Fazbear and his horrifying animatronic pals are headed to the big screen. Warner Bros is heading up the production. It will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment (Run All Night, The Ring, The Grudge), along with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions (both of whom are working on a Beetlejuice sequel). They’ve put the project out to writers.

It sounds like Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon will be involved in some capacity if this thing actually gets off the ground. Check out these totally enthused and not at all vomited from the dead-eyed press release machine quotes:

“We’re looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie,” said Grahame-Smith.

“The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to,” said Cawthon.
So that’s... unexpected. Except it’s really not. Five Nights at Freddy’s has gone from a Steam Greenlight mad science experiment to a nationwide sensation with a million-billion clones. Of course a major movie studio would latch onto what could maybe possibly potentially be its next horror mega-hit. And hey, lots of people watch other people play the game on YouTube anyway. Maybe this will just be a Let’s Play with ungodly high production values.

Then again, video game movies are famously good at ending up in Hollywood purgatory, which is often functionally equivalent to Hollywood hell. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see. Probably double-check that your lights are working.

Hasbro Studios is producing a My Little Pony movie, set to release in 2017. The film will be one of the first produced through Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures, along with the already-announced Jem and the Holograms adaptation, which is slated for 2015. Variety first reported the news.
The Pony film will be co-executive produced by Megan McCarthy, who produces the latest revival of the franchise (the television series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic). Joe Ballarini, will write the script.

But... it may even be next year

My Little Pony is a upcoming 2015 American CGI animated 3D adventure-comedy family movie from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, based on the toyline made by Hasbro, which it made Transformers. It will be released on July 3, 2015. The film stars the voices of Tara Strong as Twilight Sparkle, Aubrey Plaza as Rainbow Dash, Lori Alan as Applejack, Jessica Evans as Pinkie Pie, Teresa Ganzel as Fluttershy, Beth Behrs as Rarity, April Winchell as Spike, and Bonnie Hunt as Princess Celestia. It is The eighth of the My Little Pony movies since Generation 1 and ninth of the Hasbro movies since G.I. Joe, Michael Bay's Transformers movie franchise and Battleship, and the first movie to involve adaptation from Lauren Faust's "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" animated series.

David we met after winning a lucky VIP competition which we got to meet him on set for his last ever Doctor Who role. Ant and Dec we met after they finished presenting X-Factor's last year's series. Lee Evans we met on his most recent stand up gig, Road Runner. Andy Parsons I met when I was in the audience of Mock The Week. Craig Charles I met when I was in the audience of Robot Wars. And Derek Acorah I met when I had a Psychic Reading from him, to get messages from my mother on the other side.
