Posted 2 years agoI think im gonna go ahead and upload some of the older art ive commissioned over the years, but adding in a small story or some context from when i commissioned it, mostly just for fun uwu
how to write axel as a character
Posted 4 years ago[I think im just gonna make journals that are basically notes on my own ocs when i cant draw so i don't guilt myself over not being productive]
When I made axel he used to be a joke character which I used to kinda make fun of myself. eventually he grew into his own character, essentially I grew tired of how gays often written as simply being there for the sake of diversity to the point where they're really flat characters, a goodie two shoes or sometimes straight up psychos. So i made him to be the opposite of that, and actually be his own character, one that you could actually sympathize with and had flaws, but was also relatable, someone who develops as the story goes on instead of staying the same, as well as being a counter to a lot of that culture behind that wants people to be one way. (that's of course ignoring the amounts of nsfw i have of him now, i just hope one day i can get skillful enough to draw his story as long as it is)
Axel at his core is someone who doesn't really wanna hurt people but can see through the fake tears. He is extremely protective of his friends who he sees as family (as I'm going through this it sounds like I'm talking about me and I kinda hate it), he isn't a fan of people who tell him what to do or how to act to the point where sometimes he'll just do the opposite because he thinks its funny. one of his other prominent traits is his anger however when using it its important to note that he doesn't get mad at just everything to the point where he looks like a raging idiot, sometimes it subtle, or contained but even he has a breaking point. He is also very defensive of his world after what happened to his original universe (long story ill probably develop some other day) and would do almost anything to protect it. he also has other forms which use his personality as a trigger for their activation, or what they represent, like the stardust soul representing his ability to refuse to give up when hes in a pinch and just get back up, as well as those times when hes happy or gets that warm fuzzy feeling with someone, in which he'll glow white. meanwhile his half corrupted form moreso represents his worst traits like his smugness, pride, sarcasm, or anger, while sometimes he may sound like a villain with what he says in this form, its important to not go too far since he isn't one (think of bakugou from mha or like an antihero like venom who isn't outright righteous and heroic, but still does the right thing), and sometimes he'll put up an act in this form to get a reaction out of them. meanwhile in his base form he can be very blunt to the point where occasionally he can go a bit far, but never to the point where he goes out of his way to hurt people especially his friends, its mostly just off hand comments in the moment. another form he has is more of like a rare form that you'll rarely ever see that only happens when you push him mentally past his breaking point by picking at his traumas like seeing his friends in pain while being unable to do anything, in this form hes static never emoting, with a monotone voice, and about as blunt and direct as he could be, but not vulgar or over the top, in this state he could grind someone into a pile of mush with his telekinesis but he wont because he isn't that person even though sometimes he really does want to. Sometimes he can be rough on the outside and even have a hard time openly expressing certain emotions, like if he's hiding his anger you still see his eyes glow red even if he's putting up an act, or if he's hiding that he's embarrassed by having a neutral facial expression or covering it with his hair you can still see him turning pink because he doesn't want that to conflict with his self image.
ill probably explain his powers and such in a later journal but yeah that's so far a quick summary of who he is as a character
