Roleplaying Lessons
Posted 13 years agoSince I've been rather bored at home lately, I've decided to start giving anyone who wants them free roleplaying lessons. If anyone is interested, they can leave message here in this journal or send me a note. Depending on your preference, the lesson can take place via notes, email, or instant messenger (the latter being my preference).
In the lesson, I'll discuss the different styles of roleplay, how and when you should differentiate speech from actions, the proper etiquette involved in a roleplay, and the ways in which you can make the roleplay fair for everyone involved.
If you have any short questions that you simply wish to ask, just post them on the journal and I'll answer them to my fullest abilities.

So I went and bought Cataclysm yesterday...
Posted 15 years agoI went to Walmart to get dogfood late last night, and decided while I was there, I would get Cataclysm. There were two copies left; the first in the line had obviously been torn into, with the tape mostly ripped off. So I reach behind it and grab the other, not thinking to check it too.
I get home with it (the drive being 20 minutes to my home from town), set up my laptop, sit down at the computer, grab my pocketknife and go to cut open the tape. But then I notice it's already been cut. I open it, and woe and behold, there's nothing inside but a few trial cards; game and manual both missing.
I call Walmart, go from first responder, to electronics, to the night manager, and he tells me to bring it back and they'll exchange it. This I did earlier today. After shopping for groceries at another store for over an hour, I go to Walmart. I'm tired and just want to get my game and go home at this point, but of course that is too simple.
At the exchange counter I tell them what happened; the clerk is skeptical of my story of course, and calls over the daytime manager. They obviously think I'm trying to rip them off; I can hear them talking since they're only a few feet away, and the manager tells the clerk that they have to follow store policy and exchange for another copy. They of course make me go to the back of the store and get another one myself.
Of course when I get back there, the only copy left is the self-same one from the night before, with the torn tape. I take this back to the exchange counter and give it to the clerk. She opens it and looks dumbfounded at the SECOND empty box. She calls over the manager again, he calls over another clerk and has her call electronics. But of course there's no one back there to answer, as there almost never is. Finally after five minutes of them trying to find someone they finally returned my money.
So now I have to go to the only other place nearby that would have a copy, Gamestop, which is in a city forty minutes away. That, or risk trying to download it on an internet connection that is sketchy at best.
