Commissions Closed until Further Notice
Posted 10 years agoTitle pretty much says it all. ;^_^
After 3 days of stress-induced insomnia, preceded by 3 weeks of off-and-on being sick (possibly also stress-related), I've fallen VERY behind in working on BPD issue 2 and on my current commission queue. I hate falling behind, and that stresses me out more. It's a vicious cycle.
So even though possibly cutting off one of my main income sources is ALSO a source of serious stress, I've decided that I have to close my commission queue for the time being. If you've already paid me for work, even if in part, I'm going to work through your stuff as time allows. If you wanted to get work from me and want to know when I'll open again... I honestly can't answer that. Assume it will be a while.
I've kinda needed to do this for a while, actually. But I've come to the realization that my mental health and well being is more important than the health of my bank account. I just need to get through the work I have and then take some time to re-learn how to draw for fun.
Thank you guys for being understanding. I really appreciate the support and patience you all have shown me, even at my worst. I hope you can do so again for me right now, because I kinda need it.
Oh, and I'll be at AC next month. No pressure......? ;^_^ heheheheh

They will be e-mailed to you in all their 300dpi glory to print, post, or do with however you please. And because they're digital, you'll hardly notice the newer smaller size; but you WILL notice the lower price. :) Yippie!

I'm not nearly as active on either place at the moment, mostly because I don't have nearly the followers at either spot. If/when that changes, they will definitely be more active. Posted 10 years agoAfter carefully reviewing my finances and crunching the numbers, I've come to the sad realization that I just can't make FWA happen this year. :( I am totally BUMMED, because I was really looking forward to it, but I just don't think I can afford to make it.
Badge slots are still open (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6566914/), but if you're going to FWA you need to get your order in by next Friday so I have time to finish it and mail it to you before the con. I will NOT be there for at-con pick-up! If you already ordered a badge for FWA pick-up, I will be e-mailing you sometime today to figure out how you'd like your badge shipped (or e-mailed if you got a digital one).

Opening up Conbadge orders!
Posted 10 years agoDidn't get any takers last month, so I'm trying again at opening a few conbadge slots. I'm in need of some travel fundage for FWA next month, so any badge orders now would really help me out a ton! While this is technically a pre-order for FWA badges, you don't have to be going to FWA to order one, but it will cost an extra $5 to ship your badge to you.

BPD Comic stream tomorrow & TIPS
Posted 10 years agoTomorrow (Wednesday, Feb 11th) I'm going to do an all-day stream while I work on pages for the new BPD reboot! I'm currently on a pretty solid 2-pages-per-day minimum to be able to finish with enough time for scanning & lettering and all that before I post it on the 24th, so I'll be working like a mad woman. If you would like to come watch, please do! It will be on my new NEW stream page on Picarto.tv; link to be posted tomorrow!
On a related note: due to the deadline crunch, I haven't been able to work on paid commissions, nor have I obviously been able to take new ones. I want to make sure the comic gets done and thus can't put this aside, but that pretty much means I haven't really been pulling an income.
So what I'm saying is: if you like what I do, are excited to have BPD coming back and want to help me out, I will be accepting tips during the stream which will go towards boring things like my car insurance bill, and slightly more exciting things like a hotel room for FWA and AC. I post BPD entirely for free and will continue to do so as I have in the past, so at times like these I am at the mercy of your generosity.

Posted 11 years agoImagine if you will: Further Confusion is mere days away; all your favorite artists are posting their preorders and product previews, and your friends are talking about the great time they're going to have. But alas, you are sad, because you will NOT be able to attend this year.
But take heart! Because I, another fellow sad person, will also not be at FC this year. Yeah yeah, that probably doesn't make you feel THAT much better, but you know what might? A commission.
I am currently chipping away at my LAST commission on my queue, AND working on something special that I think y'all will enjoy that'll drop on February 24th (my birthday! woot!) So this is a GREAT time to get in on my commission queue and get something nice for yourself. Need a new badge? A character sheet? Or have you saved up for a full-color portrait for yourself (or maybe your sweetie)? It's all up for grabs.

After being made aware of the ToS specifics regarding artists & crafters on TWITCH (you CAN stream those things, but you have to be doing something gaming related, i.e. LoL fan art or knitted 1-Up mushroom hats, or whatever). So thanks to recommendations on Twitter, I created an account at Picarto.tv for my art streams. I'll still use Twitch, but only when I get the itch to do some live Let's Plays. ^_^
SO if you're so inclined, feel free to join me over at my Picarto art channel! I'll be live today until roughly around 6pm est doing some holiday-themed art & answering Q&A questions from my Patreon. :)

While I'm not aiming to take any new complex commissions right now (have a couple things on my plate I want to finish before I do), given that it's almost Halloween I wanted to do at least a handful of halloween-themed badges! I'm offering the choice between a Zombie or a Mutant Monster portrait badge, for $30 each. Badges will be done 100% digitally, and will be e-mailed to you in high-rez upon completion. And while I will not be attending the con, if you're going to Furpocalypse your badge will be ready for you to wear at the con!

Computer update: where is it??
Posted 11 years agoGot a call today from Apple that my old computer's new logic board, the main part giving me issues which had already failed at being fixed once, was on back order from the factory. The time estimate they were given for a new one was mid to late AUGUST.
The call (which had gone to voice mail) ended with the Apple rep asking me to call him back to discuss "replacement options". Terrified that I was going to have to buy a new computer, even at a discount (y'all know Apple computers ain't cheap), I got really scared and might have peed my pants... Had the rep not told me they were sending the replacement totally FREE OF CHARGE.
"We promised a free repair. We couldn't deliver in a timely manner, so you deserve a free computer."
New computer is an upgrade to my old one in almost every way. It's a 2012 model, 3.2 quad core with 512gb flash harddrive, 16gb of ram, 1gb video card, and a bunch of other things I missed because I was kinda in shock. It's a 15" instead of a 17", I downgraded from 3 USB slots to 2 and I lost the disk drive I almost never used, but apart from that it's an upgrade in every way that matters. And because it's "new", it's now under a 1 year warrantee and eligible for Apple care.
Say what you will about Apple products, they know how to take care of their customers. ^_^
The new computer should be at my door Friday or Saturday (Monday at the absolute latest), so it'll still be a bit before I can get back to work. But as soon as I can I'm gonna do a big art stream to celebrate, so keep an eye out for that!

Quickie update: compie under repair!
Posted 11 years agoProbably should have posted this a week ago when I dropped it off, but long story short: my computer had a bit of a meltdown last week. It's getting fixed, and likely as I type this is being shipped back to the manhattan apple store where I dropped it off. I'll likely be able to pick it up tomorrow or Monday, though there's always a chance it'll be longer. In any event, if you have been trying to get in touch with me or otherwise wondered why I haven't posted anything post-AC, this is why! Sorry about this, guys. I'll be exploring options in the near future so this doesn't happen again. ;^_^

Commissions & Moving (i.e. wtf is happening??)
Posted 11 years agoI'm open for commissions! Completion may be a bit slow to start, though if you're willing to wait until after my move I will be streaming as many of them as I can! I know some of you lucky folks got tax returns. ;D hahahaha I never get those...
If you have an outstanding commission with me, Im working to finish them as quickly as I can. Between back-and-forth drives from South Jersey to North Jersey and house hunting I haven't had a TON of work time, so it's been slow and a bit chaotic. ;^_^ E-mail me for updates if you want! It may take me a bit to reply, and if so I don't mind you repeatedly bugging me. The househunting is sucking up all my mental energy so I don't mind checking in to make sure my scatterbrain hasn't just forgotten to let you know your art has been done for a week.
Speaking of moving... A lot of people seem confused about what's happening with me and moving, where I'm going, etc. Long story short, we gave up on moving to NYC for now after literally 4 months of phonecalls being ignored or, if we do get someone, being told the 2 day old listing has already been taken. We've been looking instead in North Jersey, and have been staying with some friends while we look, but there's still been a lot of unreturned calls and miscommunication (i.e. driving an hour to view one apartment only to show up and have them tell us THEN that they won't rent to couples.) It's been a long, stressful process, but we are HOPEFULLY on the home stretch...? I don't know.
I've been treading water for a long time art-wise because it feels like a move is right around the corner, and spend so much time hunting that nothing else is getting done. Not a good thing, when that hunt goes months on end. I'm doing my best, but there's only so much you can do when it seems like people just don't want your money. ;^_^
So TL:DR - Commissions are open, though with the everlasting apartment hunting completion may be slow. I appreciate the SHIT out of all your patience with me! Once this is all over, I'm gonna have a serious flood of art coming. :)

Computer Death! Please Read (Commissions old & new)
Posted 11 years agoSo to make a long story short (and not go into detail about all the other things that happened in the last 2 days that life decided to take a big steaming dump on), my computer's Hard Drive died. Like, totally dead, can't boot up into safe mode, can't access data on it in any way, nothing. I do have a back-up, but it hasn't been hooked up since mid-november so anything that was stored there (and not online) in the last 3 months is lost in the eNether.
I took it to the Apple store yesterday afternoon and they said they could repair it AND the battery which has been giving me a "please service now, dummy" error for over a year, but it'll cost almost 4 hundred bucks.
I can do it, even if just barely, but the unfortunate fact is that now all the commissions I have on my to-do list that are digital have to be pushed back ANOTHER week. As if delays from apartment hunting weren't enough, right? ;^_^
If you would like to order a commission from me to help soften the blow, right now I can only take real media commissions for obvious reasons. But I can do anything from sketches to badges to full-blown & full color pieces. And for those of you who have ordered digital commissions from me, I am so so SO sorry about this! A couple of you have been e-mailed previews, which I can use to "reboot" your commission where I left off so not much will have been lost. If you haven't heard from me yet, I haven't had the chance to start, so nothing has been lost yet. I'll get back to work on your stuff once I get the computer back. This was totally out of my control, but it still totally sucks and I feel bad making you wait even longer, and I hope you can be patient with me while I get things sorted. ;^_^
Lastly, if you guys aren't able to get something yourself but know someone who might be interested in my work and ordering something for themselves, I would GREATLY appreciate it if you could spread the word! Tax time is coming up soon too, as is my move, so now would be a great time to throw a bit of money my way, and not just because I will happily draw you something cool in return. :)
