Favorite Kink?
Posted 11 years agoJust kind of bumping that last journal and decided to post up something fun.
What sort of kinks do you like? What sort of kinks do you hate? I've always been pretty fond of BDSM and stuff like that, personally, but I also tend to really like "sweet" pet play.
Little talk about being trans
Posted 11 years agoSo recently, there was a journal by an artist that I respect very much, talking about the use of terms like "cuntboy" and how some people like to brush off (completely justified) dislike of the term.
I'm going to tell ya'll right now that I can't stand the term. I'll probably block you if you try to use it around me.
I've been a member of the furry community for quite a few years at this point and I've enjoyed my time here. I've met some awesome people, I've seen absolutely fantastic art and I've seen quite a lot of acceptance for the differences in other people.
But you know what else I've seen? I've seen a hell of a lot of misogyny, for one thing. And racism? Woo boy! Really problematic behaviors are practically celebrated and anyone with concerns gets dismissed as being "over sensitive" or told that "it's just the internet!".
I think the worst part of it is that there is literally no defense against a mentality like that. If you get upset, you're "too angry" or "People are just ignorant, you need to educate!", if you try to educate it's "ugh, another SJW!" or "why are you trying to be a speshul snowflaek?"
I am a trans man. I've dealt with discrimination for being trans (and queer) from people I never would have expected it from and lemme tell ya, that shit sucks. But okay, people are only human and there are jerks in any community, right? I'm willing to try and educate! But there's only so far I can go. I'm only human too! Somehow, though, I'm expected to be basically a Paragon of Virtue, to never ever get angry with the constant sea of stupid and maliciousness I interact with on a day to day basis, to always be willing to educate but also having to tolerate every stupid ass opinion that comes flying my way.
The worst part is that I saw somebody say that there's no such thing as a stupid or wrong opinion. And y'know, I completely and utterly disagree with that. There are definitely wrong opinions out there. Believing that an entire race is stupid is an opinion and it's wrong. Thinking your religion is reason to legislate against others is an opinion and it's wrong.
My gender identity? It's not up for discussion. You can have the opinion that I'm not really a man and I don't really give a shit. I'm still going to use the men's restroom and lockers. I'm still going to hang out in "men only" groups. And if you try to tell me otherwise, I'll probably laugh in your face. I've spent way too many years trying to be something I wasn't (a woman) because of people like that, and y'know what? It's not your life to live, it's mine.
Here, I'm going to repeat myself in bright shiny letters.
It's not your life, it's mine.
And I'll live it the way I want. Sometimes that means I'll get angry and snap at people who are ignorant or mean. Sometimes that means I'll spend a while trying to educate, especially if the person seems like they really are trying to understand and want to learn. And sometimes it means that I'll just flip you off and keep on walking, 'cuz fuck you.
Now, as a thing, this isn't being point at anyone in particular. I've only come across a minority of assholes who want to try and tell me how to live my life. Most everyone else has been super respectful and wonderful!
Do you have an unusual hoofer? (Discount Theme Art)
Posted 11 years agoSomething that I thought would be fun is doing discounted "theme" commissions. So! Do you have an unusual hoofed character? Do you want to see (insert preferred pronoun here) get drawn? For $45, you can get a full body (no background) of your unique hoofed character! I'm opening four slots, so post your ref sheets! It's a first come, first served sort of situation, though I ask that you put the word "candy corn" in your comment so I'll know that you've read this journal.
Some rules:
It'll be a single character body shot, so please don't ask for multiple characters.
One slot per person.
This is discounted, not free, so please don't ask for freebies.
Please don't ask me to discount the price further.

Seems like things worked out!
Posted 11 years agoMy parents-in-law were nice enough to pay for a tow truck to bring the car back here and it seems like there isn't really any damage to it. Only my crappy old GPS was stolen, apparently, so that's cool too. They also said that they were happy to put the car on *their* insurance and pay for it, that way we wouldn't have to worry about it so much. All my mother-in-law asked for in return was a drawing, which I thought was really sweet.
So it looks like things worked out which makes me kind of ridiculously happy and in a good mood!
I'm so fucking angry right now
Posted 11 years agoOkay, so, I recently had a partner who lived about half an hour away from me. His car broke down and he did not have any other mode of transportation to get to and from work. Because I live in a small town where I can walk everywhere I need to get to, I offered to let him borrow my car until he could get his fixed.
Cue about half a year later, I have a falling out with him because of the way he was treating another partner of mine (who he was also dating). I tell him that he has two weeks to return my car. About a week and a half later, he returns my car key through a different person. Now, I don't have a car, nor do I have anyone I can talk to take me to get the car. So I've been trying to figure out a way to get the car.
Come to find out, my car was broken into today, because he had parked it on the street instead of in his driveway so I "couldn't accuse him of stealing it". I told him that he needs to pay for the damages or I'm taking him to court. He claims that because he returned my key, he's not liable at all and it's all on me. Basically doing everything in his power to wiggle out of it.
Another problem is that the person who owns the house that K lives in is threatening to have the car towed.
So I'm kind of fucking furious. I'm going to have to go to court to get this worked out because he's too much of a childish asshole to admit that anything at all was his fault.
Edit: I want to thank everyone for their advice and their kind words. You guys are awesome and lovely and I am lucky to have such wonderful people running about. I might not personally know you all, but thank you nonetheless. You're awesome.

Ugh, sickness
Posted 11 years agoI have been so sick lately, it's ridiculous. I currently have some sort of Retail Plague that Spouse brought home from work.
That being said, I *am* open for commissions. I might as well be productive while I cough up a lung.
For my watchers who are migrating
Posted 12 years agoJust so's you know, there's no hard feelings. I *do* have a Weasyl account, I'm under the same name. I don't upload as much there (I actually forgot I had it, sorry), but I'm going to try to more often for you guys.
In case people are worrying...
Posted 12 years agoI'm not going anywhere. I haven't found a website that works out for me as well as FA. And this drama will pass, as have all the other times people have gone "I ARE LEAVING FOREVERS!"
So yeah. Here I am, and here I stay.
What I'm Working On
Posted 12 years agoIt's my birfday
Posted 12 years agoI am edging ever closer to thirty, but that's okay. Today is the day that I was born and that's pretty cool.
Holy crap, you guys
Posted 12 years agoMy parents bought me an iPhone. Holy shenanigans, I'm kind of blown away.
Just a reminder
Posted 12 years agoI have two open commission slots still!
Also, in the case of FA taking another plunge, please remember that you can always email me at LokiFollower@gmail.com.
Hope everyone is having a pleasant holiday season so far.
I am taking 3 commission slots!
Posted 12 years agoAlrighty guys. I'm taking three commissions, first come first serve. One per person, please.

Webcomic thoughts
Posted 12 years agoSo, my brother-in-law and I have been talking about maybe working together on a webcomic. He would do the writing and I would be doing the artwork. We're still obviously in the very beginning planning stages and considering websites, as well as planning out ideas for what genres we might be interested in.
I've always kind of been interested in doing a webcomic, but my writing skills have always been very weak. I also tended to lose motivation because I didn't know where I wanted the story to go, or what I wanted to have happen. I had some ideas, but I'm really more on the artistic side so the ideas I had were only ever just thoughts about what would make a pretty cool scene.
You, as my watchers and my friends, would be the ones this would effect the most to an extent because while I would still be taking on commissions, they would not be nearly as often as before (not that I've been taking commissions the past year much anyway). I think, no matter what, I'm interested in doing this project, but I also feel like you guys have a right to know about it.
I'm also curious about how many of you might have suggestions on what you enjoy seeing. Not just furry stuff, but in general. From my own experience, people tend to relate better to stories that are in a more modern day setting, even if more fantastic elements are added in. "Weirder" comics might have a decent amount of exposure at first, but seem to quickly lapse into obscurity fairly quick.
Also, if anyone has webcomic experience and you have some tips you'd be interested in giving out, I'd definitely appreciate it.
So thanks for listening guys, and as always thanks for watching! Ya'll are awesome, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.
Never Again
Posted 12 years agoSo, you remember quite a while ago, I mentioned a kickstarter that I was a part of for a deck of medieval-themed playing cards? Yeah, I *finally* finished that. 53 different digital paintings, all ready to go to print.
I can finally work on personal art without feeling guilty again! I can maybe open commissions again! I don't have to look at playing cards EVER AGAIN!
Those things took so fucking long to do. I think it'll be some time before I do a commercial project like that again. At least not that *size*.
Happy Samhain Everybody
Posted 12 years agoI hope everybody has a blessed Samhain today. Stay safe, especially those of us in Northern, more wintery climates.
Wedding anniversary!
Posted 12 years agoToday is my second year wedding anniversary with
todesfaust and so far it's been pretty nifty. We've known each other for something like six or seven years, and it just seems to be getting better all the time. (There's a song in that somewhere.)

Posted 12 years agoThe artist
toastiekins is absolutely fantastic and doesn't seem to have that many watchers. I think that should change. Journal Bumpin'
Posted 12 years agoNothin' to say, really. Just a journal bump.
You should check out this contest

Hatarla is doing a little contest where you color a piece of line art they've done. It's a very cute bunny! Link to Journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4968030/
Furries for traditional Marriage
Posted 12 years agoThis yahoo commented on my page. Won't link to the page, that's "against FA policy". But yeah. Commented on one of my pieces and brought up Russia, of all places. How in 2003, a priest and his family were murdered by gay activists. Yeah. Right. In all the things that didn't happen, that's definitely one of them.
Fundamentalists do love making that shit up don't they? Little whiners are always bleating about how they're being piiicked oooon, and nobody let's them be mean to annnyboooody anymore! They used to be able to be mean to whoever they wanted! But now they have to abide by laaaaws!
Guess what, you whiny little bitches. Your time is over. Your breed is dying and being dragged into the future. Traditional marriage. Please. Ain't no such animal.
Commissioners, please comment here!
Posted 12 years agoMy email has been weird lately. It keeps losing emails, (which I sent a trouble ticket in for) and we all know and "love" FA's note system. So people I owe a commission to! Please comment here, gimme a brief synopsis of your commission!
Also: future commissioners! I'm updating my prices. The commissioners I have now, we've already discussed price and this doesn't effect you. As it stands though, I am deeply underselling myself. I'm not the best in the universe, but I certainly am not awful and by selling myself so cheaply, I am not only making it harder on myself, but making it harder on other artists. So up dem prices go. If this upsets ya'll, I'm sorry. I appreciate your business (and some of you, I definitely see as friends), but sometimes changes need to happen.
Art slowdown note. I've been massively sick the past couple of days. The changing of the seasons is always hard on my already spotty health, and Michigan has decided it finally wants to be somewhat summery. My asthma disapproves of summer (and spring, to an extent).
I'm edging my way back to health, and I deeply appreciate everyone's patience. But this sort of thing is also a reason why I don't like getting people to pay until I get sketches done. Ya just never know what'll happen!
Thanks again for your patience. Hope everyone's doin' okay.
A wild DeviantArt appears!
Posted 12 years agoI've been considering getting a DA for a bit. A lot of artists use it, and while I'm not like...super fantastic, I'm not half bad. And it might be nice to broaden my prospects outside of furry art! So if you're interested in seeing my new deviant art (as well as some of the art for the playing deck I'm working on) by all means, visit me here: http://followerofloki.deviantart.com/

Grand Rapids appears to be slightly underwater
Posted 12 years agoSome scary shit! I was actually visiting some friends (Actually, my new boyfriend and girlfriend. Poly times are good times) and it started POURING rain. We're about a block away from their house (they have a cute little house, seriously, it's fucking adorable) and are about to go beneath an overpass. Now, it didn't *look* like that big of a puddle. Little did we realize that the road dipped *down* beneath this overpass thingie. Cue being in water that would probably go up to my ass if I was standing in it. Got to about the middle, was still fine, chugging along, when a car coming in the other direction went through and sent a giant wave of water over us.
Yeah. Cue the car getting stalled out.
Now, if you've never been in a car that feels like it's turning into a boat, I can't really describe to you how scary that is. My boyfriend got out of the car, told me and girlfriend to stay in, and started pushing the car. I, (being myself) started to get out of the car as well, because fuck that he's not going to have to push the car by his lonesome! I know I'm short, but I'm also very stocky, built vaguely like a medieval Dwarf. But I'm in luck! This SUPER NICE KID comes out of nowhere and starts helping us, pushes us far enough to at least get out of the water. Boyfriend then gets back in the car and kid starts pushing us the rest of the way into a parking lot with his truck. Seriously, if I ever meet this kid again, I want to buy him cookies or something.
At any rate, we finally did get back to the house. Not in the car though. A friend of girlfriend's came by and gave us a lift, so that was pretty great. But with no car, it meant that a trip that was, supposedly, to only last an evening turned into three days. Not that I mind hanging out with boyfriend and girlfriend, but I didn't have any of my stuff with me to work on things, which sucked. So yeah, prepare for a small flood of commissions being done in the next few days.
