Renaming Homophobia
Posted 14 years agoSo I've been looking around on the religious thread for a while, and I saw a discussion between a few people that stated that Homophobia was a misnomer, and that it was really ignorance and bigotry.
Atleast, I think that's what was said, I am not to sure about it, so if you were involved in that discussion, please say so so that I can change this to what was actually said.
but wether I got the words right or not, it remains a valid point: bigots hide behind the word "homophobic" in order to disguise their ignorance and bigorty as fear.
To get a sense of how wrong the word homophobia is, heres the definition of phobia:
(Phobia From Wikipedia) A phobia (from the Greek: φόβος,phóbos, meaning "fear" or "morbid fear") is an irrational, intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared stimulus. When the fear is beyond one's control, and if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.[1]
Does that sound at all like what Homophobes are? Are Homophobic people really, seriously and blindly AFRAID of homosexuals? So much so that it turns into a clinical fear?
Lets assume for a moment that thats true, that homophobes are people that are truely afraid of homosexuality, and just can't deal with it in life. If thats the case then there is an epicidemic gonig on, a widespread swath of gay-fear that covers a large portion of the world.
Now to be Fair: Homophobia may indeed be a real condition, there might really be people who are deathly afraid of gay people and just can't live with them; hey, if theres a fear of ducks, and a fear of water, theres probably a fear of gays.
But this percentage of the population would be THOUSANDS of times smaller then the number of people who claim to be or are labled "homophobic."
Meaning: I'm not saying we throw the word away, I'm saying we apply it to people who it actually applies to, and give the rest of people a more appropriate word like, oh i don't know, BIGOT.
Disclaimer: People against gay's may not neccisarily be bigots, but they may be misinformed and ignorant. This is in many ways better then other people, who realize theres nothing inherently wrong with homosexuality and still choose to go against it.
BUT STILL, in this modern age of google and wikipedia, of the internet, no person in a developed country has a reason to be malinformed about gay people, as all it takes is a two-minute google search to realize that we're perfectly normal people, and theres nothing wrong with us.
How does this help?
Renaming Homophobia would be a huge step in exposing anti-gay rights activists as the bigots they really are, it takes away they're pretty little PR sheild, and exposes them among the population.
It's a major step for true equality and understanding.

Free stories
Posted 15 years agoBefore I Start, I had to write this THREE MOTHERFUCKING TIMES, because FA decides to derp and be retarted, and imma be surprised if it works this time.
Anyways, I wanna open up a free story or two to those who are intrested, done in the style of how I would do a commision, except free, because I want to mabye open up commisions to earn some spending money.
I want to use this story to, first and foremost, see if I can actually write stories to some degree of standerds, since I've had trouble getting myself to write in the past. Really though, if I know what I'm writing about, I'm usually fine with it, I just need a few basic things and I should be good to go.
Second, I want to use these as an example, so that people who are considering may have something to read and decide with.
Lastly, with how well this turns out, it can help me decide rates and what I need to know in terms of how to write it (How much people have to tell me for me to write good.)
So... i would really appreciate it if people would step forward and help me out here, messaging me on MSN would be the easiest thing to do, though noting or even commenting would work just as well, but I am going to need some level of specificness.

Another link, this is a follow up to my previous journal, I'm still pissed the fuck off, for very good reason.
Essentially, the United Nations removed Protection for People based on sexual orientation. This means that you can be killed for being gay, and it would be technically legal, because your gay.
The united Nations entirely betrayed it's gay citizens, the vitims, in order to please the people in under-developed, religious countries, alot of which probably still stone women if they're not virgins on they're wedding day.
It's protecting the murderer.
The countries in favor of this were mostly Midle-eastern, African, and the like, like I said, under-developed and religious. Now of course Europe is going to be against it, and you'd assume the United States would to, right?

Now, you may be asking what the big deal is, and why something so absolutely forgettable and easy to miss is fantastic and worthy of merit. That’s just the point though — Arcade Gannon’s sexuality isn’t a big deal, and that’s how videogames should play it. Not just videogames, in fact, but all media would do well to not make such a big deal out of homosexuality. Rarely is there a gay character whose identity doesn’t completely revolve around their sexuality. Maybe they have a gay crush on the main character, or are tastelessly camp, or have to struggle in a straight world full of homophobia. Often they tick all three of those boxes. In Fallout: New Vegas, gay characters just … are. Which is how most gay people exist in real life, too. If you’ve grown up watching too much television, you may think that gay people are all lisping, mincing crossdressers who constantly talk about how gay they are, and more often than not try to murder a heterosexual best friend who spurned their gay advances. Unfortunately for you, gay people generally aren’t like that in real life. They’re normal, and as boring as straight people are.

Iowa judges who voted for gay marrige outsed
Posted 15 years agoYup, through the effort of a $700,000 ad campaign, the three iowa supreme court judges who made gay marriage legal in the state, where voted out of there positions.
For one decision that was unpopular with the people, but overall gave equality to everyone, these people lost their influentional positions, being punished for doing the greater good.
The iowa system runs as such: Governer picks judges, and then every 8 years the judges are voted on, and they need a certain number of yes votes to remain in power.
this system has kept Iowa ahead of the curve in social issues, including interracial marriage, which was decided in the same fasion, but you don't hear the opponents to gay marriage pointing that out, do you?
Even worse, the hard-fought victories gained by supporters over the last 4 years, including New Hampshire signing gay marriage into law, are all in jeapordy, now that there will be a republican majority in much of the states.
The California decision, poised to reach court sometime within these two years before the next election, will most likely reach the supreme court with a majority of republican/conservative judges.
I, and everyone, can do there part to protest, run ads, do whatever possible to gain support, but when the time comes for the big decision, to give equality to everyone in america, all we can do is sit, and hope, that the judges, regardless of they're political, religious, or social background, will recognize the validity of the gay-right's struggle, and the validity of all marriage, and in turn, vote for the greater good.

It's a really informative pratice, that keeps me up to date on the current struggle for rights... but it's also really, really infuriating.
The search I've made right now has just been so full of bold-faced ignorance and stupidity that it's disheartining, I have an entire-nother journal (If a very poor one) dedicated to a Governers comment.

He blamed gay rights groups that encourage youths to embrace homosexuality at an early age.

THESE PEOPLE DO NOT DESERVE TO BE INFLUENTIAL, THEY DO NOT DESERVE TO HAVE THEIR WORDS PRINTED IN THE PRESS. Is it possible to say that it was only caused by that? No, but it is obviously a very large part of why these people did it.
This... attrocity, is just so terrible, but it's made all the more terrible by the comments of these people, saying that is was "they're own fault" and that they apparently should have stayed in the closet.
I know, I think I'm playing to people's anger right now, but this is something to be angry about! Nobody should be standing for the anti-gy groups now, N-O-B-O-D-Y.
Does that SOUND like the right side at all?
Do they have a reasonable defense, for why they're side repeatedly and demonstrably bullies and drives to suicide our side?
This isn't a gray issue.
This isn't a matter of opinion.
Gay marriage IS right.
These people ARE wrong.
And when you take it as far as these people, you are a horrible, horrible person.

It has been informed to me by my friend that this statistic is infact true, to put it simply because you're more likely to contract desises through anal sex.
But, I'm still justified in my anger because:
1. This article offers NO explanation to this fact, only stating it, leading to fear mongering and hate, while a simple statemeant of the facts would help alot more. To me, it seems like this article is saying that Gay sex itself causes AIDs, instead of non-safe gay sex causes it.

Posted 15 years agoSoo, anyone who knows me knows that I want to direct movies, and I'm starting to think that I want to direct scary movies, because in my opinion its a misdefined genre, with the best movies being overshadowed by the formulaic, bad ones, the slasher flicks.
Now I'm not saying that the good ones get no attention, The Ring is a good example of a really well known one, I'm just saying that when people thing Scary movies, they think Jason (or Scary Movie x3) and those aren't the best of the genre, far, far from it!
So right here, I'm going to list what I've learned through various movies and reviews about how to make a good horror movie, and yes, I know these are extremely obvious, shut up!
1.Personify the horror as little as possible.
This ones simple, the more you personify a horror, the more you limit it. The horror, if possible, should be shown as little as possible, and if shown fully, it should look inhuman enough to look supernatural, but human enough to draw feelings of discomfort from the general public.
2.Make the main charecters as likeable as possible.
Again, simple enough, if the main charecters are likeable, when they're in danger, the general reaaction will be horror and suspense, if they're dickheads, then the general reaction will be the audience wants them to die... this isn't good o3o.
3.Make SURE, that the charecters can't leave or run away from the horror.
Trap them in, barricade them, make the horror semi-omnipentent if oyu have to, but if they're staying out of they're own stupidity, they become unlikeable, and then the audience likes it when they die.

5.Gore, done over the top, makes people laugh

2.We start Skyping, and skype is nice, and lets us talk and even try and do video commentaries and shtuff together.
3.Skype decides it doesn't like us, and stops working.
4.Keith's parents stop paying for internet, meaning now we can only text each other
5.Turns out the texting chardged us, and now I can only call him, once or twice a week... and it has to stay short.
P.S. Keith might've gone over his texting limit, OR could be hit with the same charges I was hit with. If that happens it's extremely unlikely that he'll keep his phone, meaning I won't get to talk to him for...at the very least a month.

So my love has been trying to get a job, and we've been figuring out how much this would give him, and if it would be enough to get together by next June or July.
Originally it wasn't enough, and we we're going to have to wait another year.
Then we figured out something had been calulated wrong, and we would have more then enough to meet up ^^
