Some people shouldn't drive...
General | Posted 15 years agoI know that I am capable of driving in any weather generally, I just don't trust the other drivers... Today I had a good example.
The weather was a little snowy and rainy earlier and I was driving around 10pm... There was no snow or rain coming down, the roads had been salted and were clear. Due to the earlier weather and the time of day making it colder, I was driving a little under the speed limit using caution. I didn't encounter any issues on the road, just some idiot in a little red car.
I was in an area where the highway just changed from 4 to 2 lanes, so there was generally no passing other cars unless you got to one of those long straight parts of the road where there is a sign that says 'pass with care' which means you can pass someone in front of you if the other lane is clear. So, I was going a little under the speed limit and I see this car far ahead of me with their emergency lights flashing on their car. Pretty quickly I caught up to it cause the driver was only going 25 and the speed limit was 55, I was going about 50. i followed the person assuming that they were either overly cautious or they were having car trouble. Shortly we developed quite a line of cars, the driver in the little red car still kept going 25. You would think that someone who was going so much slower than the speed limit would at least be polite enough to pull over and let the other cars pass but no luck.
When I go to a passing zone where I could get ahead of them I put on my turn signal and passed on the left of the slow car. The driver, after having many cars following for a while at much under the speed limit, actually felt necessary to blow their horn at me when I passed them like I was doing something wrong.
Pretty soon, I couldn't see the car behind me at all.
If you were driving less than half of the speed limit, I don't understand why it's a problem if someone doesn't want to just sit behind you wasting time anymore.

Morrowind & game stuff
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, after the moving is done and I am back to working part time and looking for a job, I have some free time and due to the living situation and the fact that I no longer have to worry about what kind of crazy annoying crap will happen at Jon's work I actually have a little time to relax and actually feel relaxed. It is strange.
I decided to go back to something I have missed.
Years ago, I started playing Morrowind on Jon's xbox (not the 360, the older xbox before there was 360) ... I played sometimes but not often cause at the time we only had 1 television in the house and he hated to sit and watch me play Morrowind for hours so I didn't get as far in the game as I would have liked. After getting the 360 and other games (Like Oblivion which I have finished) I really had the desire to go back to Morrowind. Instead of trying to figure out where my old character was and go through the MANY journal pages to figure out what quests I have. (those who play the game will understand the size the journal gets to and how annoying it can be to read the whole thing just to find something you though was in there somewhere...)
So, now I am starting over, my character is a bit different than before, and I am re-learning everything in the game. This is actually lots of fun for me and this time I actually plan to daily (when I am playing) copying my in-game journal entries from the tv screen into a notebook so that I can more easily track quests and even use little note tab things so that I can find quest info when I need it. In some ways, I will miss my other game and I will likely go back to it eventually but that system isn't even plugged in currently.
Also, for new games, jon just bought me a Final Fantasy game (#13 I think, I don't remember the number for sure) and it's for the 360 so I have that to play, I started it yesterday. He also got me Ghostbusters which I have not yet tried.
I don't have my 360 online currently cause I will need a HUGE ethernet cord to connect my system to the router. (Honestly, the system and the router are merely feet apart, but there's no hole in the floor where the system is, the cord needs to go to a doorway through a hole in the floor there, then across the ceiling and down the wall to the router. I am thinking of asking my brother to provide a cord for such as a Christmas gift when he and Autumn visit for Christmas.
Jon's 360 is online as he has a newer system with wireless built in. If anyone on our friends list wants to play xbox with us online, reply and provide your ID. I will keep the list and add people once I am connected again but jon is online with his so I can talk and he has lots of games to play with friends online.

How to not freeze...
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, many people who have been reading my journals recently are probably aware that my boyfriend Jon and I moved from our apartment to a bedroom in my parents house as a temporary measure. Our lease was up and I am currently unemployed and looking for work. Living here will give me a few benefits. The opportunity to look anywhere then move, so I am not stuck trying to find employment close to where I am contracted to pay rent. A place to live where we can pay less rent than the apartment we were in. And, a chance to spend some time with my family more often than once a week for laundry.
However, living here does have one disadvantage worth mentioning. My dad has been in the process of fixing and remodeling the house since they bought it before I was born, and I am 31 now. The bathroom in the comfortably warm upstairs still has the old clawfoot bath tub, which leaks water into the front hall any time water goes down the drain. (they even keep a little bucket in it to keep any potential drips from going down through the drain.) So, the only place to get clean is the shower in the basement. The basement is unfinished, and the temperature in the winter near the shower is usually between 50-60 degrees. That's not fun when you are wet! So, there's a little space heater. But that doesn't do much. The 'bathroom' in the basement is pretty much part of the laundry area. On one wall, there is the washer and dryer and large 2-basin laundry sink. Right next to the sink is the toilet and the shower next to it. There are no nice little walls around the bathroom area to keep some heat in. basically, if someone's down there to use the shower or toilet, people shouldn't come to the basement cause once you get to the bottom of the stairs and turn around, you are facing the toilet & shower.
So, I have developed a few tricks to make the freezing shower area a little less unpleasant. Since the laundry area is there, I try to have laundry going and run the dryer when I am in the shower. I put the cloting I will put on when I am done on top of the dryer to get a little warm. but, it's cold, I am not wasting time getting dressed down there. I put my nightshirt on to go down and then put it back on when I am done. I don't care if it gets wet, and I put clothes on when I get to the warm upstairs.
Oh well, things could be MUCH worse. I am happy here and finally get a chance to kind of relax and that helps me think about my goal of finding a job. One place I interviewed is still deciding and plans to choose candidates and get background checks in the next few weeks and then call people. There are multiple positions open because of an addition to the work of the department so I am really feeling good about it. There were a few setbacks that I discovered after the interview about my performance but I think I made things work ok. i forgot to write down the names of the other 2 people I interviewed with. I called the one person whose name I did have to ask for the names and she called me back and left a message only hours after I sent a letter a few days late cause I had been waiting for a call back to thank for the interview. So, I wrote 2 more separate letters to the other people ASAP. I didn't know where to park when I got there and ended up walking a short distance to the building. It was cold and I ended up with my nose being a bit uncomfortable during the interview cause of the cold I was getting over. The worst thing, in my opinion, was when I changed out of my suit, I found the seam had split right up the back of my pants, so it would give a nice view of my underwear. My mom mentioned that a polite woman would mention to another if they noticed so that you would cover the problem before going outside. It's also possible that it happend after the interview on getting into or out of my car. I guess I will never know. At least mom's pretty skilled with the sewing machine so I know she can fix it.
Anyway, I kind of went off of my original topic and wrote more than I expected to write but all is ok. One more bonus thing is that they like me so much at my part time 'seasonal' job that they decided to keep me working a couple days a week. It's not much, but every dollar helps. Plus, at least it shows that I am not lazy, I do have a job, it's just not full time.

Note to anyone who I watch...
General | Posted 15 years agoSorry for being so behind, i have over 500 submissions to look at, the oldest are 60 days. So, if you see comments on a picture you posted 2 months ago, i'm sorry for being so behind. I have been quite busy with the moving.
More on the moving...
General | Posted 15 years agoWe have EVERYTHING out of the apartment and the keys have been turned in. Now, to make our current living situation look a bit less like a giant Tetris game of boxes....
Moving update...
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, the biggest thanks goes to my dad for helping so much with the moving. I posted a few weeks ago here and on Live Journal to see if any local friends would have time to help us move and the only reply I got was to suggest that I post my advertisement to a local Live Journal group rather than just to my journal. I decided against doing that becuase I would like the help of my friends and even though lots of local furrs are nice and trustworthy, I am not sure that I would want someone I don't really know helping with it.
So, with no help other than my boyfriend Jon and my dad, we are working like crazy to get the moving done by the end of the month. I had to work every day but Christmas last week but this week I am only scheduled 2 days so I hope we get it all done. My dad and his truck have been the most important asset.
Unfortunately, he had a little bit of difficulty with helping us. When I was working one day last week, my dad and Jon had the truck loaded and were driving in traffic. The light turned green but there was nowhere to go as the traffic was all backed up. The driver behind them didn't seem to notice and crashed right into the back of my dad's truck. The truck has relatively minor damage, it's a Chevy Silverado and seems to be built like a tank! The back bumber is bent under the truck a bit but not far enough to cause it to need emergency repairs, and the car hit them so hard that the cap on the bed of the truck actually chifted about 2 inches. The little red car that hit them was not so fortunate, the front end was crushed so badly that they had difficulty opening the doors. The man driving literally said he looked at something else and didn't see the truck stopped! His wife in the passenger seat didn't have her seatbelt on and her head hit the windshield, causing it to crack. Dad and Jon could not even tell what type of car the little red car was due to the extreme damage to the front. When dad got out of the truck, he didn't seem to upset and mentioned to the other driver "I see you like my bumper" ... the other driver was not so amused but jon liked the joke. My dad and Jon were not hurt. Jon had a little back pain cause he was actually shifting positions in the seat when the accident happened, but he feels fine now.

A funny feeling...
General | Posted 15 years agoI kind of get the feeling that lots of people I know must think that I am stupid or something. Normally, when people talk or write about something in their lives, they are looking for the support and/or positive comments. I have noticed recently that when I post things or speak to people in general, I often have people telling me what I am doing wrong or what I should have done differntly. I have even received responses indicating that the problem was my fault and I could have just avoided or prevented it. I get this type of response when I am speaking with people in person and online.
When speaking to people in person, it's easy to see a facial expression and tell if they are just trying to help or if they are just being unpleasant and bossy. In writing it's different. You can't tell the tone of voice or facial expression in writing. It is impossible to tell if someone in writing is being a jerk or honestly trying to help when they respond in such ways.
I feel that some people may react to me the way that they do cause they think I am young and need guidance in life. Generally, I don't look my age, the topic came up today at my part time job and two people I was working with today had no clue of my age, of the two peple commenting one said she though I was 23, the other said 25 at the most. I turned 31 on my last birthday.
My question to anyone who reads this, how do you view me? Am I an adult capable of life and good choices? Am I a child who constantly needs to be told what to do? I just want opinions. Also, do people even read what I post before replying and commenting only on a small part of a larger post?
I don't claim to know everything, far form it, but I do have experience in life and in many areas of life, I really enjoy studying some things and continue to educate myself on many topics even though I am not in a formal school.

The last day... A story to read
General | Posted 15 years agoI am a bit late in posting about this but I thought that our friends might like to know about it. As I posted before, Jon had put in his 2-week notice at his job because of unfair treatment and rules that were not enforced on everyone and seemed to single him out.
So, his store manager really didn't want him to go but she understood the reason behind it. She also got written up, like he did, but as the store manager, she got more time to 'fix' the problems... unfortunately she is the only other one who got in trouble for the store statistics and many other stores which Jon communicates with have much lower goals due to the season and people's purchasing habits but their district manager wanated to be an ass about it... The write up Jon got gave him 2 weeks to improve or be fired, his manager got a month to improve or be written up again and that next one would indicate the time she has to improve or be fired. It's really frustrating but Jon's done with it now.
His last day was full of stress and drama. His one request was to not work with a particular other employee on his last week, a person who had caused him much stress during his time there. His manager agreed to this and adjusted the scheudle so he would not have to work with the offending person. However, the offending person made it a point to come into the store as a customer each time Jon was working and try to cause more drama. Jon had purchased a rather nice gift for his manager, a big bottle of Captain Morgan, a gift card, and we also gave her some candles that I had but discovered that I was allergic to. Due to undesired employee insisting on being present and not even leaving Jon and his manager alone for a minute, his last day didn't go at all like he wanted and he didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to has manager. The other guy, who was NOT working, kept trying to help customers and kept going into the back office where Jon and his manager were finalizing some things. She wanted to make sure he got his personal days and such, so she was updating the computer to reflect the use of some personal time and sick time to give him some more $. If undesired employee found out, he would have whined about it and if he complained, the extra time may have been taken away from Jon. I was aware of what they were doing and stood to block the doorway when I saw him coming. He asked me to move but I told him no (don't Jon and his manager have a right to a private conversation???) He yelled past me to have the manager tell me to move but she told him no. He took it upon himself to literally shove past me to get in there. Him pushing me upset Jon and after they finished in the office, as we were walking out, Jon turned and shouted back to the office to the undesired employee to "F&%# YOU!!!" to which undesired employee replied to instigate a fight (About time I should note STUPID move on his part, the guy is about as tall as me... 5 feet and about as big around as a stick. I could probably break him in half and I don't have fighting experience... Jon does. plus he is taller and more muscular than me) Jon shouted back to undesired employee "I'LL KILL YOU!!" and started to go after him. I got in front of him and pushed him back... I don't think it would be wise for Jon to do such things and end up in jail for sending the little smart-ass twerp to the hospital.
Jon is still upset that he didn't get to speak privately with his manager and embarassed because he reacted to the taunting of the undesired employee.
I wish people would learn to keep out when they are not wanted, I generally avoid places if I feel that my presence is not wanted or that drama will be caused by me being there.
One final note is that even though Jon could not get transferred back to his old district as a manager, he has spoken with the assistant manager and others at the store that originally hired him in Monroeville and they really want him back... He plans to apply there as entry-level and may end up being a manager again away from the crappy people.

The fun of packing & allergies...
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I am allergic to quite a few things, including dust of any type and smoke of any type so it's probably just an allergy to general floating particulate matter. Anyway, as we are working on packing to move at the moment, I am finding that I need to take 2 benadryl every night so I can sleep and breathe... and even with that I often wake in the night with asthma issues from all of the dust we are getting to move around here because once you start moving things that have been sitting for years you find that even though you have disted, dust has accumulated in so many places you couldn't reach.
Today, I planned to go to my parents house to do laundry but the state didn't clean the roads there, so I decided not to go. I have clothes to wear to my part time job tomorrow and then I can take my laundry in the car when I go to work and then go to my parents after work... if I need to then I can sleep there and just go to work from there Wednesday.
I am so tired of dust and I can't wait till the moving is done. Unfortunately, we will be moving again in the near future since this is only a temporary stop at my parents house to help us financially till my boyfriend Jon and I have full time jobs again. But, in only a few months, I don't thing things in boxes will accumulate too much dust.
The big bonus of packing is that we get to go through our stuff. I found many things that were garbage and can be put in the trash. Jon and I have found things that we don't use anymore but are still good and we are giving to friends. We have a stack of aquarium magazines for Thead, and some things that we are sending to some friends in Wisconsin. Another rather strange thing that we have to spare is soap of variious scents. Due to my allergies, I have at times purchased soap only to find that I was allergic to the scent that you could not clearly smell without opening the package. So, after purchasing these in the multi-bar packages and trying them to discover allergies, I have some still packaged bars of soap tha I want to just give away. I know Thead often has financial issues so I may just take them to him when we go to the Christmas party, it will be one less thing he has to buy for a little while and if he doesn't like the scents, there will be lots of others people there who might want them.
Another allergy note, I have discovered allergies to some perfumes that I used to wear. As they are in spray bottles, it's not like they are in any way contaminated by use, so if anyone who watches my journals would like me to, I will post a list and if anyone wants them I can package them and send them to you or deliver next time I see you if you are local.

Note to local Pittsburgh furs
General | Posted 15 years agoHello,
As Jon posted earlier on Livejournal and I posted on FA, Jon and I will be moving for a short term to my parents house until some job and money issues are straightened out. We will be packing up boxes and moving them using my car over the next few weeks. However, the furniture is a different story. We can't really keep it there. So, we plan to rent a storage unit and store our furniture (except the bed and dressers we will need to set up our temporary bedroom at my parents house) and we will also be adding some of our boxes of things that will not be damaged by being in the typically un-heated storage units.
Our plan is to first rent the storage unit and then in one day load up our furniture onto a U-haul or similar vehicle and deposit some at the storage and take the bed and dressers to my parents house. We don't expect to ask anyone to load up their vehicle with all of our stuff, that's not fair cause we can't really pay you for gas $, the most will be that whoever is helping can all leave their cars at our apartment building and pile into one vehicle and follow the u-haul. of only one other person is helping, feel free to ride in the u-haul or my parents car cause they will likely be involved too. We can return to the apartment afterward and the parking lot there is safe so nothing bad will happen to your car.
We are moving for financial reasons so we really can't pay anyone for their help. However, we do plan on providing dinner for those who help us. Dinner will (depending on the people and the day chosen) be either dinner at Cici's pizza, dinner from one of the resturants local to my parents house or something home-cooked by me and my mom.
If anyone is interested, let us know. We have not yet decided on a date and if someone is willing to provide help, then we can schedule to suit them since they are willing to give us a hand.

Christmas Wish List...
General | Posted 15 years agoSTEP ONE
# Make a post to your journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1) My little ponies, especially ones in good condition. Pretty much any pony except I don’t really like the newer ones with the big head and little body.
2) Panda things.
3) Any art of my fursona, or a reference sheet even, I don’t have a reference sheet yet. Panda, female, purple hair. Typical panda shaped (not skinny, rounder shaped) The hair can be in any length or style the artist chooses, I like to leave artists lots of room to be creative.
4) Custom My Little Ponies.
5) Pokemon stuff (just not porn of course) that is cute.
6) Breyer Horses, I have collected these since I was a kid.
7) cat things, I love little kitty figures and such.
8) Some other older toys I still would like to have or collect that some people may still have: She-ra dolls and horses
9) art supplies. I like to play with watercolors, draw with pencil on paper, and paint craft stuff with craft-type acrylic paints. So, any paper or supplies for such are good.
10) gift cards for places like: Michaels & Pat Catan’s (art & craft stuff), places that sell plus-size clothes (including Wal Mart) so I can get some new clothes, book store gift cards (I can never get enough books).
11) yarn. I like to crochet. I use partial skeins that were not finished on other projects to make some really fun colorful blankets so any yarn, even partially used skeins are wonderful. (Someday I will post more photos of the things I have made from yarn. I forgot to take a picture of the last thing I made, a baby blanket, before giving it to my cousin at her baby shower.)
12) Extra money you have that are not using is always accepted of course but I don’t really expect anyone to give me any.
Anyway, I probably listed enough stuff. I do definitely encourage all of my friends to post this to their journals. Plus, remember that Jon and I are moving, if I come across something on your list when I am moving, I may just decide I don’t need it cause I don’t want to pack it so if my friends who read my journal tell me things, then maybe if I have them you will get them.
You can always contact me on FA if you need to contact me.

Jon and I will be moving this month...
General | Posted 15 years agoI know that many people who watch me here on FA also read Jon's LiveJournal where he posted first, but I wanted to post a bit too about what all is going on.
I am currently laid off... I am looking for full time work and actually got a call Friday to set up a job interview for this week. I didn't get to call back till the office was closed so I expect to talk to the HR person there Monday. I am currently working part-time seasonal in a store in the mall where my boyfriend Jon currently works.
With me being unemployed, I was stressed enough about our situation. So, of course, Jon started having trouble at work. As usual, hindsight is perfect and he now wishes that he didn't take the promotion he was offered over the summer. Since he was promoted, the area got a new district manager who does not treat the employees the same as those in other areas. He has been firing people and then insisted that Jon's manager give him a written 'coaching' paperwork thing about 1 1/2 months ago. She said he was not being 'written up' but that she had to give him the paper. Well, he went to work Thursday to find out that all but 2 employees in his store were being written up for something that the other districts don't even worry about during the timeframe when major Christmas shopping is going on. So, he finds out then that the first 'coaching' thing was really a write-up and this is now his second. The note on it specifically stated that he had to improve on this particular item in 2 weeks or be fired for it.
This happening was wrong for multiple reasons. 1) The districts should all be treated the same, the stores in Pittsburgh don't have to stress much over these statistics right now so why should the ones in Greensburg? 2) In reference to the particulars he was written up for, previously he was the top person in his district when in Pittsburgh, but he is having trouble with it in Greensburg, he didn't change how he works so it is likely a result of the store location and not him personally. 3) The person right below him in rank has been trying to get in in trouble for anything he could think of cause he thought he should have been promoted when Jon was moved there even though Jon had been with the company about 2 1/2 years at the time and the other guy less than 1 year.
So, he figured (and his store manager confirmed he was likely right) that the district manager planned to keep him through Christmas and fire him afterward. With how the paperwork was written, he could really wait as long as he want and fire Jon whenever he was ready, so Jon decided that he didn't want to have this hanging over his head that he could be fired in 2 weeks or any time after. How well can you honestly perform well with that constant threat hanging over your head? So, he gave his 2-week notice and his last day is December 17. He tried to get moved to his old district first but there's no openings so this is the only option to not get fired. He really wanted to leave on his own terms rather than be fired whenever the district manager thinks is time because we need to have a plan for what is happeneing.
We confirmed approval from my parents and checked with the leasing office at our apartment complex. We are just at the beginning of a new term of our lease so we can move at the end of December with no lease termination fee thanks to the very nice manager giving us a 1-month extension on our leas that would have been renewed or ended on December 1.
So, by the end of the month, we expect to have rented a storage unit for temporary storage of our furniture and some items and we will temporarily move into a bedroom at my parents house. We expect to only stay there a few months. Until he has a new job and I have a new job. I have already been discussing his situation with my managers in my part time retail job and my Store Manager is going to ask the district manager if there are any openings in the area for managers in our chain of stores. So, he may have some job leads already which would be excellent.
We would also like a lease that does not end at such a bad time also, every time we would have had the opportunity to move at the renewal point of our lease, it was Thanksgiving weekend and he couldn't get off of work even if he asked cause he works in retail.
We really feel that this is the smartest and financially safest move for us at the moment and we don't really want to stay with my parents and ask for help at all but we know we will make it a very short term situation. We have already talked some with a friend who may want to move here to Pennsylvania this spring so we may even have a roommate to help share expenses when we are ready in a few months to get the new apartment.
I am sorry this post was soooo long but I tried to explain as briefly as possible. I could have added lots more details but this would turn into a book then. (also note that I didn't really spell-check and I am tired so there are probably some little typing errors... sorry.)

Meme thing... per challenge.
General | Posted 15 years agoCOMMENT AND I'LL:
1. Tell you something I'll learn about you by looking at your FA page for 13 seconds.
2. Tell you which color you remind me of.
3. Tell you my first memory of you.
4. Tell you what pokemon you remind me of.
5. Ask you something I've always wondered about you, and your answer has to be as vague as possible to keep the suspense.
6. Tell you my favorite thing about you.
7. Give you a weird nickname
8. Tell you what's on my shirt right now.
9. Challenge you to post this on your journal.
Honestly, I don't get many replies other than Thead and Draco so I hope I get at least a couple, this seems fun.

Bunny update... In reference to Niko
General | Posted 15 years agoFor anyone who looked at my journal last week when I posted about the bunny Niko who needed funds for her surgery, the bunny's owner posted an update.
She was able to collect enough donations and get some additional available on a credit card to pay for the surgery. The surgery was scheduled. Most unfortunately, Niko did pass away during the operation. The doctor could not stop bleeding that started. I know I didn't get many comments but I just wanted to provide a follow up for anyone who cared to look. The owner posted also that due to this, she does plan to refund any donations received.
Even though she was not my bunny, this makes me so sad because the owner said how wonderful and sweet the she was. It hurts to loose a pet, and it was obvious from how the owner wrote about Niko that she was very much loved.
Anyway, thank you to anyone who looked at my prior message and did anything for Niko from taking a few minutes to pray for her or if you were able to make a donation.

Four Pittsburgh Furries lost their home to a fire
General | Posted 15 years agoOk, most of the people who watch me here on FA are from Pittsburgh and already know about this. But, I wanted to make a post anyway as a few who watch me here are not from Pittsburgh.
Four local Pittsburgh furries lost their home early this morning to a fire. The journal entries and news articles that have been posted all indicated that the fire started in a neighboring house and spread to the home rented by the furries. They lost pretty much everything.
There are already journal entries posted that have all of the information so I will not repeat it all... Please use the links below...
Details of the fire itself are here:
http://swift-fox.livejournal.com/740374.html
http://lildobe.livejournal.com/199892.html *This journal entry has more info and a button for paypal donations*
The link to the paypal donations also has photos of the home. I will do what I can to help as well.

Please read... bunny in need of help
General | Posted 15 years agoI belong to a group on Livejournal for bunny owners and someone who is a member really needs some help for her bunny who needs pretty much immediate surgery and her owner does not have the funds. I don't have money that I am able to contribute so I offered to post her story in hoping that anyone who watches me here on FA may be able to help her. I know pretty much everyone here loves animals...
Here's what was posted in LJ about Niko the bunny:
****
Someone suggested I try this, and I promised my bun I'd try everything. We're still waiting to hear back from financing, but whatever anyone is able to contribute (even just a penny) would go a long way in helping my girl.
When I got her at 4 months old she was already starting to go blind- unfortunately she was just dealt a crap card in life and had no real reason to go blind this young. It started as cataracts and turned into glaucoma, which has since then turned her bright little eye into this:
She is the quintessential perfect bunny. She will snuggle you for hours without complaint (grooming you all the while), she won't chew up your things unless they're paper-related and she'll lick something if it has even a hint of your scent (even if it's just your pillow or shirt). Even her vet is shocked at how nice a bunny she is. She was my very first rabbit (the one cow-spotty one out of the bunch that I couldn't get out of my head) and so holds a very dear place in my heart. She's been with me through a lot of ups and downs, groomed me while I held her crying for one reason or another, and I can't bear the thought of losing her.
And truly I don't want anyone to feel guilty if they don't want to help- I do this only because I need to try every option available to me.
Thanks for reading.
****
The Livejournal entry has pictures of the bunny, both an older picture of her and two more recent images showing her left eye swelled shut.
Here are 2 links, the first to the LJ entry and the second to the page the owner has set up on paypal to allow donations. I would be so upset in her position and I know I would be asking everyone I know for help if I was in that situation. If anyone who watches me chooses to help her if they are able it would be wonderful.
http://community.livejournal.com/bu.....5638#t46245638

I believe the links should work, if they don't and you want to donate, reply and I will try again... she has the paypal link as a little button rather than a long link on LJ.
As a final note, I do not think it's against the FA rules to post something such as this but if an admin decides this is not an appropriate post, please message me to let me know.

I believe the links should work, if they don't and you want to donate, reply and I will try again... she has the paypal link as a little button rather than a long link on LJ.
As a final note, I do not think it's against the FA rules to post something such as this but if an admin decides this is not an appropriate post, please message me to let me know.
To anyone who plays Pokemon DS games...
General | Posted 15 years agoHello,
I honestly don't know if anyone who watches me plays any of the Pokemon games for nintendo DS. I have Diamond, Pearl, Platinum and Soul Silver. So far, I am playing games on Platinum and Soul Silver. I have started characters on Diamond and Pearl but I have not played those 2 much yet.
On Platinum, I am only missing 8 Pokemon for my national Pokedex. I know where to get them all but it is not working as well as I would like. If anyone who plays would like to trade any, let me know.
I do have some of the harder to find ones like Feebas.

Things are not so good at the moment.
General | Posted 15 years agoProbably the most important thing right now is my boyfriend Jon is sick. He started with a cough early last week. He really doesn't like going to the doctor's office unless he's practically dead. So, when he finally let me take him to the doctor this Tuesday on his day off, the doctor said he has pneumonia. (i think I spelled that right.) They gave him a steroid injection at the office and a nebulizer treatment. They wanted to send him to the hospital but he doesn't have insurance. So, the doctor gave us prescriptions for steroids, nebulizer solution and an antibiotic. She said to take him to the hosiptal if he does not get better or gets worse. Thankfully, he seems to be doing better today. Unfortunately, his promotion at work is still rather recent so he does not think he gets sick days yet. He will miss 3 days of work this week causing his next pay to be rather short. I think we will be ok with the bills and stuff though. I hope. The most important thing is that he needs to feel better.
Also, I am still looking for a job. Everything I see advertised does not even make as much as I get on unemployment or if it does, the ad clearly states it's temp only, I don't want to take a 'temp' thing because according to the unemployment people I talked to, if I take a temporary job that's full time and lasts past the date my benefits started, I have to re-apply and start all over. I still have time on my unemployment to look though. If I don't find anything before it runs out, I will get a couple part time jobs or take a lower paying job and keep looking.

Foxes...
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I happen to know lots of furries who are fox furries or just happe to think that real live foxes are rather cure animals. Since joining FA I have come across two users who I watch who happen to have pet foxes, and they post photos of their pets online. I think they are quite cute and I thought I'd take a minute to share with any people who happen to watch me and also think foxes are cute....
Najlvin has a golden fox named Vixey. She is quite cute.
Ragtatter had a fox named Gizmo. He is a red fox with a color morph pattern which is referred to as being a 'cross-fox' according to a comment on a picture posted rather recently. He's adorable.
Both users have info about their pets on their user pages here on FA. Gizmo was purchased from a breeder and lives in the US. Vixey was rescued from a fur farm.
EDIT: I found some more....
foxsvir has a pet fox, and also lynx from the photos in the gallery.
Furry-Baum also has a pet fox.

General | Posted 15 years agoOkie... I posted some new photos... my old car, my new car, a fish and a human who happens to be a furry.
I am really quite behind on viewing art submitted by the people I watch... Sorry about that. If you are someone who I watch, I may still need to look at something you posted. I am wuite behind.
Also, for an additional note... i'm still open for any commissions. I am not such a good artist when it comes to painting and drawing but I do crochet and sew. Now's a good time to start getting some Christmas gifts for peopl and I can make some really nice soft comfy scarves and blankets. I will post pictures of items I have completed and I plan on signing up for an account at etsy to sell such things online also.
If anayone wants a crochet commission, I will refer you to a web site that sells yarn to choose colors. Of course not all of the brands on the web sites are available at the stores I shop at here but I will let you know which brands and such I have access to locally and the web site will only be for reference of the colors.
At this point, $$ earned from any commissions are going to go toward some bills I got for my broken car and toward the new car's payments which are higher than my old payments. (Money is no fun, you never have enough when you need it... and when you get laid off and are looking for a job, unemployment isn't enough when there's an unexpected problem like a car that won't start!)

I think I'm invisible
General | Posted 15 years agoI kind of have the feeling that i'm invisible in the local furry community. I don't get to go meet up with other furs much due to schedules never being the same every week preventing some ability to plan into the future... or once I find out something's going on, it's already too late to change Jon's work schedule to accommodate.
But, I feel like i'm kind of invisible to everyone anyway. People seem to forget I exist, or forget plans they made with me and when there's something going on locally with furrs, I rarely even get invited unless I happen to see it on the Pittsfurgers live journal.
Does anyone notice me and that i'm here? and Jon too, I believe he feels as invisible as I do. If people don't want to talk to me or I bother them, let me know. I definitely don't want to hang out where i'm not wanted. That's partly why we are not even planning to attend WPAFW this year. I don't feel like i'm wanted there at all anymore. That's also part of why I wonder if anyone even wants me around. I try to do nice things for people and I seem to not even get taken up on offers I make to help people.
Oh well, I kind of feel this post is rather emo but i'm also kind of depressed in life right now. I am still looking for a new job. I have even more bills to pay after the car stuff.

General | Posted 15 years agotomorrow...
General | Posted 15 years agoTomorrow, if all goes as planned, my parents will meet me at the dealership to pick up my new car. I will need to remember to get all of my stuff out of the Grand AM. The new car is a silver 2008 Saturn Aura. I'll post a picture of it once I pick it up.
Honestly, I didn't do much in the way of choosing the car, the dealership helped point out this one because they knew that I had to put the old car loan together with the new loan and they could give us a decent discount on this car because it had been on their lot for 2 months without selling.
I plan to take my camera with me tomorrow so I can get a few pictures of my Grand AM.... I really liked that car and I will miss having it. The new one will feel like it's not really mine for a while. I didn't mind when I got rid of the car I had before the Grand AM because it had been going downhill and things weren't working right and we took our time and shopped around for a car... this time we kind of had to make the call to buy a new car where we had the current one towed for service to avoid additional fees and my car didn't really have any problems. It was working just fine and nothing seems wrong then suddenly it just won't start.
Even though it's not nearly as emotoinal I guess I could compare the experiences this way... with my older car, it was like a person who was sick and old and you knew they would pass on in time and you were mentally prepared for it. With the Grand AM, it's like when someone dies unexpectedly, I was not prepared for it and I still need to feel a sort of closure. I will never know what was wrong with it. I will just have to move on and get used to the new car.

Car update... again
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, this may be the final update on my Grand AM. It was at Meineke for a week and they tried everything they could think of and it still doesn't run. We called the dealership and they said that they could look at it last Friday. We had it towed there.
They didn't get around to looking at it till Tuesday and they said that the engine is not getting pressure and they said it would cost $400 just to tear apart the engine to figure out what's wrong. That's not including fixing whatever's wrong. With the total from Meineke and the cost to tear apart the engine and towing, we are already getting close to spending $1000 on the car before it even gets to fixing whatever the problem is.
So, my dad said that based on the car being a 2003 and having 122,000 miles already, my parents will meet me at the dealership that has my car to work out getting a new used car and trading in the broken one. Unfortunately, this will involve both combining what's left of the loan on the Grand AM with the new loan, and I will need my dad to co-sign because I am still looking for a new job.
So, if things work out like it's looking now, it's entirely possible that I will come home with a new car today.
I am not feeling ready for a new car since I don't have a job at the moment but it doesn't seem unavoidable now.

Commissions open
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I decided to offer some commissions since I need some $$$ to fix my car. The cost will end up being more than the $400 but the shop told me that they would take $400 now and let me make payments on the rest. Unfortunately, that still really does not fit in my budget on unemployment.
So, here's my offers for commissions:
badges, on 3 X 5 cards. I don't have the ability to laminate but since they are small enough to fit in a normal envalope, shipping is as simple as a stamp if you want it mailed. I have some examples of badges I have done in my gallery, not all of the details scanned because they all contained glitter and/or glowing paint. I am not that great of an artist, I will attempt pretty much any species, but if I am unsure, I wil try before accepting payment.
The badges will be $5 each, and if you are happy with it and want to pay more, i won't complain, all the $$ is going to my car, so I can still get where I need to go and look for a job.
I also like to sew and crochet.
I have examples of crochet in my gallery. If anyone would like a custom blanket or something, send me a note so I can come up with a price. I have done scarves, larger shoulder wraps, and blankets in crochet. I actually have one small blanket I can sell that's already done, I will get a picture of it later. I will post more pictures of completed projects if anyone's interested in seeing them.
For sewing, I can quilt, but I don't have any completed projects I can photograph.
One item that I can work with crochet or quilting is small pillows (about 12 inches square) that I can buy and make either crochet or quilted covers in lots of colors.
If anyone wants anytthing now for make christmas gifts for family or friends, a hand-crochet scarf is really pretty! Prices kind of depend on the yarn chosen.
If anyone who watches me wants to help but doesn't have $$, please feel free to post a link to this in your journal. I will plan to update this entry with links to examples of completed projects for references.
