I'm back!
Posted 12 years agoThey took a Wolf out of the wild and expected it to be domesticated. Once the wolf attacked they put it in a cage to rehabilitate it. Believing the wolf was tamed they released it into society once more. The wolf's dreams of the wild never ceased. This won't end well for the wolf.
Man cut in half by a train
Posted 13 years agoIts about an two hours away from EOS (end of shift) and my partner and I are in a movie theater parking lot sipping on juice it up and eating food bowls from flame broiler. We here the dreaded call of 331 code 3. Dreading not because we are worried of that something bad is happening, but dreading the 6th BS call of the day... Or so we thought. On the radio we hear the seemingly rude monotone voice of a dispatcher named Victor or "Victor the Fucking Prick Asshole", say code the for pedestrian vs train at Columbia cross of Marlborough ave. At this point it is hard to believe that this could be an average everyday "I broke my ankle" or "Oh no I'm 93 years old and I think I'm about to die", BS call. I put the Unit in drive, drop my juice it up drink in the cup holder and toss the remains of my flame broiler behind me in the trash. I hit the lights and sirend and hauled ass down Iowa to Marlborough ave and almost caught air in the process before arriving to the scene where the train was stopped and blocking traffic. We started to pull out the gurney when an old homeless man wearing a Vietnam Vet hat said in a raspy voice, "Don't think yall gonna need that." We take his word for it and walk about 40 meters down the track to find the upper half of some twentysomething year old face down with his spleen lungs and other organs fully exposed. The bottom half of John Doe was another 50 ft away under the train. Apparently what had happens was their were two trains coming and the man only watched one and moved to the other set of tracks so he wouldn't get hit by the train he was looking at. I look over to my partner to say something funny but he is pale, sickly, and is visibly shaking. Just the a minivan gets to the tracks where she cannot cross because the train is stopped and honked angrily rolling down her window to tell at us what the hell the hold up was. It doesn't take Stephen Hawkings to put all the pieces together but i moved out of her line of sight between her and Jon Does upper half and said, "Dead body Ma'am." at the sight of the body she started to trace the trail of entrails back to about were she was and quickly got out of her car to projectile vomit causing more people to look at what she saw. Many disgusted and terrified faces later I put a sheet over each section as fire fighters and police arrived. I knew the firefighters so again I tried to make light of the situation because it is what I used to do with my fellow marines in Iraq in these types of disturbing situations. "I think we can still work the upper half I said pantomiming CPR. They thought it was funny until they came across the trail of entrails. They cancelled shortly afterwards. There were about 5 cops two of them female. One asked me to remove the sheet so they could take pics as evidence but I don't think she knew that the man was in half as I pulled the sheet of the lower half revealing a pair of perfectly intact legs and pelvis with intestines draping out. She immediately began to vomit and we left shortly after that. It was a quiet ride back to deployment where we were heading early because my partner claimed he was a little affected by the call. Alas I got of work an hour early today due to week stomachs. As I was walking to my car my partner yelled my name. "Your fucked in the head Chris!" I smiled. See you Thursday Dustin." When your to focused on one threat, it's the unexpected that will be your demise.
Short Story of Loop 2
Posted 14 years ago"First time in country?" Loop nodded at the black cat and stared out into the city. "Second day in." "OK, well listen good then. Welcome to post one. Your sectors of fire are from the mosque to the river." "What is the fencing for?" The fox pointed at the fence that wrapped around the post. "For when the hajies fire rockets at you. The rocket has a detonation button on the tip that don't go off when it gets wrapped in the fence." The cat looked up at the lightly armored vehicles that traveled on the road just above them. "Two more days left in this hell hole and we is out! Any more questions boot?" Loop shook his head thinking about when he would only have two days left. The cat climbed down the post latter and went into the mud house. Loop stared at the LAV's on the road in front of his sector of fire, admiring the ferocity of the vehicles. He saw a cloud of smoke wrap around the lead LAV and his eyes widened in shock. The boom came shortly after the sight. Loop gripped the .240 and started to scan his area knowing there was at least seven marines in the LAV. After no ambush was sighted he picked up the binoculars beside him and watched the scene before him. The vehicle was now engulfed in flames. The gunner and vehicle commander hopped out of the turret followed by the driver from the front. There was four scouts in the back and Loop waited for them to escape. There could be no death. Loop had never witnessed it before and never believed he would ever see it. The fox stared at the back scout hatches waiting for everyone to escape, but the doors did not budge. Finally one of the handles twisted. Looped watched in horror as one of the scouts jumped out of the back and fell on his knees, crawling and engulfed in flames. The gunner, and driver tried to get to their brother but the flames were too hot. The scout was a young grey wolf. The goggles on his helmet and the scarf he used to keep the dust out of his muzzle were melting to his face. He was screaming as he crawled to his brothers who were helplessly trying to move into the angry flames. Eventually the scout petered out in crumpled ash, lying on his stomach with his arm reached out towards his friends. The cat and a few other marines ran up to the roof top after hearing the explosion. The cat watched in horror as he saw his brothers struggling to put out the flames of the downed LAV. Two more days. Loop contemplated the comment of the cat. The fox stared at the smoldered corpse of his fellow marine. He had the same boots on. The same uniform and gear as Loop. The fox had a disturbing thought enter his mind. Seven more months to go.
Short Story of Loop 1
Posted 14 years agoDirt sprinkled down onto the red foxes face. Bits of grain and dust filled the air and pebbles sprinkled down in a sensation that reminded him of long days at the windy beaches from home. It was silent. Nothing but the ringing sound in his long pointed ears. He stared into the beautiful blue sky and smiled. So peaceful. It felt like a wonderful dream and he wondered if he was asleep. Sound slowly started returning to his ears. "Contact right!" The fox perked his ears up, the dazed smile leaving his face. "Get up Loop!" Ah, his nickname. Loop sat up feeling dizzy and trying to take in the scene that fell before him. Before he could even quite comprehend what he had witnessed a man grabbed him and dragged him from the middle of the street to a wall that ran parallel to the road. "Loop pick up your rifle, are you with me here?" The fox looked at the Grey mouse and recognized the face. Lance Corpral Heritage stared at him hopping for a command. "Cpl we need to get into cover." SNAP! A bullet ricochet bounced over head. Loop snapped back to the world grasping his rifle that lay across his lap still slung to his shoulders. "Lets go Snappy, get inside the house!" They ran through the nearest coartyard to an entrance of a mud house with a metal door, bullets snapping and pinging off of the wall behind them. Time slowed down as Loop made his way closer to the door with Lance Corporal Heritage right behind him. His mind realed as thought of what lay behind the door haunted his mind. A man with a gun just waiting on the other side aiming at the door, waiting for it to open would fill Loops body full of bullets ripping through flesh, muscle, and bone. He has seen it too many times. "Not this time," Loop thought to himself. His tail lashed out as his leg came up to smash into the door. Time slowed even more as his adrenaline spiked. Splinterd wood sprinkled into the foxes fur and metal bent around his foot. A stairway with a figure at the top stood in front of Loops face. The figure must have had the drop on Loop and Snappy and Loop knew it. Loop gritted his teeth and threw himself down on his knees with all of his might aiming his M-4 at the siloetted figure at the top of the stairs. He pulled the trigger and a man crumpled down to his knees holding his chest, a good clean shot. Snappy was behind Loop and he aimed at another small figure that closed in from the right. He almost pulled the trigger before he realized what he saw. Loops jaw dropped and his rifle left his hands hanging from its sling before him. The small figure looked up at the now dead man and her arms dropped lifelessly to her sides. Tears streamed down her furry cheeks, her eyes squinted and her lips quivered. She looked up at her father once more then turned her gaze to Loop. Her hands began to ball into fists. She ran to Loop and started pounding on his flack vest with her small fragile paws. Loop began to cry as the little hyena continued to hit him with as much power as she could muster from her 8 year old muscles. Loop looked back at the unarmed man and back down to the devistated girl. Tears streaming from his face he did the only thing he could think of. He grabbed the little girl and held her tight in his arms. She stopped fighting it and the only thing she could think to do was hug him back. The two sat in each others embrace crying and rocking back and forth, Loop running his hands through her jet black hair, holding her gaze from deaths work. He held her closer not wanting to ever let go. Snappy grabbed Loop by the back of his vest and dragged him away from the little girl. Loop glanced back just before leaving the house and saw the girl weaping and speaking in a strange toungue to herself. She dropped to her knees and stared up the stairs. Her mind now losing all sence of reality. She pondered, losing her tears, and her face became dazed, dazed and lost and dizzy just as Loop had been before. After Loop was dragged clear of the house he stood up gripping his rifle once more finding a familiar face from his squad in the house across the street. He ran for the house they were taking cover in. He ran as fast and hard as he could, embracing the pain, he would never let it go. There was always going to be room for new pain.
