Hey fuzzies and scalies,  vincer here.

I prefer using this account to promote events that are happening in Manitoba and I promise to keep the political stuff to a minimum. It's just that there's a federal election for Canada happening on October 19th and I feel it's important to let everyone know how to be able to vote.

To get yourself registered, follow the link here. It only takes a few minutes to do all the steps: https://ereg.elections.ca/CWelcome.aspx

From there, you'll receive a voter registration card in the mail that tells you where and when to vote. I really recommend voting early (October 9, 10, 11 or 12) to skip long line-ups if you wait till the 19th.

Here's the ID you need with you to vote. Make sure to also bring the voter registration card you receive in the mail. http://www.elections.ca/content2.as.....dex&lang=e

The most important thing is to have ID that matches your current address.

There's an event planned for March 1st where we'll meet at 2 p.m. for bowling, then head to  furgeta's place afterwards starting at 5 p.m.

I've been contacted by  texascat018 recently who has a dog that he can no longer care for due to unforeseen circumstances and he is looking to allow her to join a new loving home where the owner will spend a lot of time caring for her and treating her well.

UPDATE: The new owner will receive basic supplies (i.e. dog food, brush, bowl, bed, shampoo, nail clipper).

Hey all!

On Saturday, September 24th,  furgeta will be hosting a little furmeet at his place. It'll have some board games, music, art jamming, socializing, fursuit building and a general good time. Feel free to bring some drinks or snacks. If you plan on drinking, please supply your own alcohol. Pizza might be ordered and if you want to have some, make sure to bring some money to pitch in.

Something I should mention is that Furgeta is also kind enough to host many meets but I will mention that he would really prefer it if the people attending the furmeets would help clean up during and after the meet is over. You're also welcomed to spend the night at his place if you need to.

A few hours before the meet, some of us will be playing some soccer at a location near  furgeta's place ( paulshep's great idea!).

If you're interested in kicking a ball around or spending a good night with some good people, feel free to give me ( vincer) a personal message so I can let you know what time and address as well as other details about the events.

I'm wondering how much interest there is in having a furmeet in Winnipeg between September 2nd to the 4th. We've got a Manitoban fur ( silverboy9) who's coming down to Winnipeg who's interested in meeting some other members of this community.

Also, there is a play that will be presented at the beginning of September (same time period mentioned earlier) that is called Wicked. Going out to see it could definitely work out.

There's a group of local furs that will be going to Anthrocon and the day before they leave, they'll all get together for a party at  furgeta's place.

It's encouraged that you bring some drinks and snacks. If you want to drink, bring your own booze (BYOB) and Furgeta would like his home to be smoke-free.

It'll start at 7 p.m. on June 18th and I'm sure that many great board games will be played as well as some socializing.

May 28 - Picnic with frisbee, and other sports. I can bring my volleyball net and ball; PaulShep, if he so inclined, could bring his soccerball.

We can meet up at my place afterward for 7:00 pm. Bring snacks, drinks, and money for ordering food. BYOB but ONLY if you don't make yourself sick with it.

I'm not sure if myself will be able to make these meets but I'm sure that a nice friendly time will occur there.

There is an upcoming furmeet on February 19th (Saturday) where members of our local community will get together for some bowling before heading off to  mudgeon's place.

I'm sure there will be some fursuiters in full costume at the bowling session so it should be quite interesting! If you can't make it to the bowling, everyone will retire at mudgeon's place afterward.

There will be a New Years' party going on at  furgeta's place on December 31st to celebrate 2011. Last year's New Years party was one hell of a blast and I really look forward into attending it again!

Do bring some food or snacks if you attend (even something small would be appreciated) and if you plan on drinking, supply your own alcohol (BYOB!). We might ordering some food so if you want to have some, just be sure to bring a bit of money.

We missed having a Thanksgiving pot-luck this year, but we're not going to miss Christmas! Saturday the 4th of December, 4 p.m. until whenever o'clock at  Mudgeon's. Last year I was pretty tired and zombie-like through the whole thing; I'll try and get enough sleep ahead of time, I promise.

So start calling out what you're planning to bring! You don't have to make a huge dish to feed everyone - believe me, there will be left-overs. If your dish needs a quick warm-up in/on the stove or microwave, no problem! But if your dish needs a lot of preparation and cooking time... we had stuff last year that never got touched because it wasn't ready or arrived late. Ready-to-eat stuff is preferred.

If three or four people want to coordinate bringing a whole lot of soda and chips, that would make my life easier! (Even better if we can coordinate dropping off the the soda at least a day before the event, so I can cool it in the fridge.)

**If you have folding chairs, bring them!** Also, I have lots of plastic cutlery already. Don't worry about plates and stuff, I'll cover that. Does anyone have a whiteboard we could use?

Console gaming will be in the upstairs computer room - there's a 27" CRT tv. (Unless the guys with the LCD projector attend this year - anyone know if they're coming?) Anything goes except DDR. For music - if you need to hook up anything, just ask, as not all my equipment's set up intuitively. (I'm also interested in raiding folks' mp3 collections; mine is tiny.)

One small request: If you're throwing out a cup, can or bottle that's still got some liquid in it, please empty it in the sink first! Otherwise clean-up from last year was a snap. :)

Gift exchange! This is something we do each year. **Participation is optional.** We know that a lot of people have a tight budget, but if you feel like it, find something for no more than about $15 and wrap it up anonymously. Then we'll do an exchange thing. Actually - does anyone have a good idea for a game or method we can use? In the past we've used the pick-an-unclaimed-gift-with-up-to-three-steals game, but it would be nice to try something new.

Hello, local furs!

There's a great party that's going on at  furgeta's place on October 30th for Halloween.

It's recommended that you contribute something to the party (some food or drinks) and dressing up in fursuit or any costume is definitely encouraged! It's also BYOB. There might be an order for pizza to be delivered so do bring some cash if you want to join in for that.

There will be some socializing, board gaming, video gaming (I'm bringing my XBox 360) and some art jamming. From my personal experience with the local crowd, the best furmeets I've attended were last year's Halloween party and the New Year's party so if you can only make it to a meet once in a while, this is definitely one to check out!
